I got a payrise today. I can now afford to drink 4 more pints of beer a week. :)

I am happy for a few reasons. First, today was payday!

I work two part-time jobs to help pay for school. A few months ago, however, one job stopped paying me for no reason. My boss kept saying she would fix the problem, but she never did and her boss didn't seem to know what was going on. So today I finally went over both of their heads and went directly to payroll myself. They were able to fix the problem in about 5 minutes and were furious that my inept boss let that go on for so long. Now I have enough backpay to pay my rent for a couple of months, which make me very happy! :dance

I also decided that I want to teach for a living and my decision relieves a lot of the stress that I have been feeling lately. Everything is just looking really good in my life right now!

Finally, it is beautiful day here today and I get to cook dinner for a few friends (I love to cook). So I am in a great mood!

Well I thought it was high time I resurrected this thread, seeing as the weather here in the UK is noteworthy. It hasn't rained since March here in the north, and currently we're hitting 20 degrees C and more is yet to come. This is how Easter weekend should be, I think; sunny and bright and perfect for walking by the coast. Pity I won't be doing that, heh. But I may take a stroll through the nearby park over the weekend.

I'm also happy because my writing has really taken off. It's good to get paid for something you like doing. Oddly enough, I've never experienced job satisfaction like this before. :)

So are you to my thoughts as food to life; Or as sweet-season'd showers are to the ground;

I'm happy at the moment for two reasons.

One is, as Ruth mentioned, the weather here in the north is very good. The other is I just cancelled a saving plan that I had running and am expecting a rather large check in the next couple of weeks. Which'll help keep me out of debtors prison for a few more months :party

ETA: A third reason for being happy was that the fourth act of Ghosts of Albion was on today :party

I understand, you should be with the person you l-love

I am

I'm happy bacause I'm back home!

I realise I've missed some lovely hot weather here in the UK, but it was just as hot and much more humid in the middle east.

And because I've just woken up and had 3 mugs of tea, I'm over my jetlag!

No love; I'm writing non-fiction. And it's about education. So unless you're a teacher in the UK, you've got buckley's chance of reading my stuff.

Thankfully. :)

I came th this thread today 'cause I was gonna share my happy feeling about going to my firstest rock concert this week. Good Charlotte and New Found Glory!!!:applause

Just reading all your comments about :willow & :tara made me happy that I am really not alone. And there are people who are obsessed with :willow & :tara -just like I am! :) Made me realize that it is okay to be in love with someone of the same sex-and that I am one of those people. I barely know any of you, but you all give me hope and the courage to just BE MYSELF. I love you for that. You should be loved for that. You are a great bunch of colorful people. YOU ALL ROCK!!!:party I look forward to meeting more of you as I continue to post here. I cannot thank you enough.:bow I'm really a scary social outcast punk rocker-just have a big soft side, thats all.:heart

Hehehe concerts make me happy :grin

I saw Massive Attack live in Brixton last night and they were awesome. The lighting set up was phenomenal, the bass made your tummy rumble and they had a huge scrolling computer screen behind them that blew you away with the visuals. I was a very happy bunny. As for Jo, well she almost passed out :grin But perhaps that was the heady 'herbal' scent in the air? :hmm Go see them live if you ever have the opportunity. They are excellent :D

Mucho love Kittens,

Wow, I made it through six months, as of today. It feels like longer, but then again, it also feels like it was just yesterday. Weird. Hee. :)

I'm really proud of you for all that you've accomplished in those six months, Ruf. And while no one around here will be surprised by such a pronouncement, coming from me- anyone who can work buckling knees, moaning and the word "naughty" into what could have been, by someone else's hand, a pretty dry piece of nonfiction, is an absolute star in my book. ;)

If you'll excuse me now, I feel a little shine coming on. :grin

I'm happy because yesterday I had my birthday party and it was a really really fun day. I baked a lot and everyone liked the goodies I made.

And I got the nannying job this summer that I applied for! :) Between that and working at the library as well, I should be able to make enough money to pay rent without pulling from my savings and even put some money in the bank!

Hi Everyone!! :bigwave (this emoticon reminds me of Forrest Gump hehe)

I have been happy since Saturday but yesterday, the happy turned to esctatic. I went car shopping (by myself) and bought a car. On Saturday, it was too late for the credit check to come back since they closed at six. I got a call from the dealer yesterday that my loan was approved. They are just waiting for the insurance paperwork to come through so I will take possession of it either tomorrow or Thursday. Its a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am.

This is the first NEW car that I've purchased that I don't have to share with an ex husband or anyone (except the bank). I gave all the information for a co signer just in case my credit came back needing one but they said I was approved without a co signer. I have been doing the "happy dance" almost continuously. :dance

I thought I would have a little frolic into this thread because it would appear that shortly I shall be receiving vast amounts of free drink and I am not talking about dandelion & burdock here. I just hope that I don’t get too drunk and wander into the gents and not notice until I spot the urinals.:whistle

Hey it has happened before. :smash

I am so easily pleased aren't I?

That day, that day. What a mess. What a marvel. We're all the same. And no one thinks so. And it's okay.

Oh my god! The concert of Shakira last night was just amazing!!! At the beginning of the show, she came out of a giant snake and began to dance. And I can tell she can dance, :banana . :dance She also can play different kind of instruments like guitar, that fluty thing (which I don't remember the name) and the drums. She's just an amazing singer. I love her more than before now that I saw her on concert.

Bye:bigwave

Tra la la - I am a very happy Kitten today, I've just booked my tickets for the Reading Festival and my gf got a raise at work and a reduced workload so she is happy, therefore I am very happy :grin

Also I have finally got in my possession the Lux Aeterna (theme from Requiem for a dream) remix that was used on the second theatrical trailer for LOTR:Two Towers and it is aboslutely stunning - I am currently destroying my surround sound system with it :grin Simple things make me happy! :applause

Tra la la I feel very groovy now - off to buy my best mate's birthday present in a bit :wave

Have a great day Kittens,

Hey Kitties!

I just want to share my happiness with you at this moment. I've just received the notification of the customer service center for my repaired DVD-player which was defective right from the beginning I had bought it. It took them about 8 weeks to repair it ( they told me it would only take 2). Now I can continue watching my favorite WT scenes before I go to sleep without the whole rewinding process you have with videos. Second reason for being happy: only two more weeks until season 6 will be available on DVD (some of you might be jealous now). Third reason: next Tuesday (if I'll survive my oral exam in Spanish) I'll go out ( I hardly/never go out, so you see I improve!) with my best friend and a friend of hers ,watching Matrix Reloaded. Reason No. 4: I made friends with one of my colleagues from work. 5: my best friend has just said very nice things about me. 6: Right now I feel very positive about going to this open meeting of this institution for lesbians in my city (for out-coming purposes.Still working on it). Have a nice day!

LMT,

First of all, I'm so sorry I gave you a bad link, but I'm glad you found your local lesbian center anyway. Remember that you might only have to go their by yourself once or twice. After that you'll make friends and things will be 100% better. That open meeting is to help you-- everyone there is going to be kind, understanding and non-judgemental-- and some girls will want to get to *know* you better! Please go. It might lead to dancing and smoochies :bigkiss

Season 4 comes out here in the USA june 10th-- I can't wait! (and I am jealous of your getting season 6!!)

Remember that I personally love gossip and mushy stories, you please post whatever happens at your first meeting! And I hope you enjoy the Matix Reloaded-- I thought it was very cool.

Happy & Proud Mother

Postby oneyedchicklet » Thu May 22, 2003 8:41 pm

Hello Everyone,

My daughter just got a letter from school and I can't express how proud I am right now. Next Wednesday evening, she is receiving the Presidential Achievement Award for Academic Excellence. Apparently to receive this award, students have to maintain a 3.5 grade point average for two years. She has had straight A's this year and in the last 3 years, she has only gotten 2 B's. She is in the seventh grade and will be 13 next month. I'm sure everyone around the world will hear me clapping, screaming and whistling next week when they call her name.

My son also got his very first hit in a baseball game last night. He's going to be 10 in two weeks and he just started playing ball this year. He's been quite discouraged because he hasn't been able to hit the ball. All that has now changed. Did anyone hear me screaming and clapping for joy last night. I'm just bursting with pride for both my children but I've really been doing that since the day they were born. Then again, what mother doesn't?

Love to All,

Barb

Wow Barb; that's wonderful! I'm not a mother, but as an Auntie, I know how proud I was of my neice when her school report came in and there'd been a marked improvement in her work. They have Headteacher's Awards at her school and she's been raking them in this year, apparently. So I can't even begin to imagine how great you must feel as a mum.

And as for your son; that's so cute. Good on him! Hee. :)

After 5 weeks in a Bed & Breakfast I've finally moved into my own apartment. No furniture, just wide open spaces, but mine all the same. Now just have to get connected to the internet and all will be well with the world. I think we need a "Not Just Plain Happy But Really Happy" Thread for that.

And as a bonus - the elevator in the apartment complex talks. Anything that tells me I'm "going down" every morning has my vote.

Aw Nicky mate; that's wonderful. And congrats on the horny elevator, by the way. Just a tip though; over here we call it a lift. Okay?

Incidentally, I'm now hiring myself out to do tours of sex shops. Thanks for spreading the word, love. ;)

I suggest that over the Bank Holiday you buy yourself a crate of wine and toast to your new fabulous place. Take pictures. Make inappropriate overtures to the lift. ;)

Lift. I knew that. Just trying a bit of American translation mate. I am going to take it slow though. I have a feeling I'm not the only one subject to its naughtiness.

And please carry some water to splash and a whiteboard with you when you do the tour. The whiteboard helps with the "what do you do with that?" question and the water helps the tourist regain consciousness. Friggin life-like forearm with fist!!! What the hell?? (please - for the love of Pete - treat that question as rhetorical).
