have you ever noticed that you can tell if a kid crying or yelling in public is just being whiney/trying to get his way or is really being abused in one way or another.

Whiners are fairly calm in attitude, though they sometimes get red faces/temper tantrums, those are usually pretty "flat".

Even the kids who are being slapped or scraped their knee have a different reaction, they cry in pain and/or anger but don't panic or cower away.

The ones ecperiencing real fear have an underflow of terror, panic in their reaction and often cower away from any attention they might get.



Seeing that these are pretty obvious facts to those paying attention, I am totally amazed that so many parents get away with abusing their kids mentally/physically.
Makes me angry and sad, even the ones who are payed to watch over these children and their wellbeing don't ring the alarmbells :( :s

I think I was never hugged as much as last weekend. I also made about 25 people laugh so hard (on more than one occassion), that they had tears streaming down their cheeks. Yes, believe it or not, this is what I love doing the most - making people laugh!
About the hugs... Well, I do not get alot of hugs and one person in particular hugged me about ten times, when we said goodbye. It made me sad, but also very happy. I felt truly cared for - for the first time in sooooo long. I even got a group hug. It was so different, but just awesome all the same!

Researching your ancestors can be a double edged sword...today I found out that my most notable ancestor, Samuel F.B. Morse of telegraph and Morse Code fame was vehemently and publicly pro-slavery also anti-catholic and anti-immigration

So I put down my grandfathers side of the family for a while and took up my grandmother's...I found that while my surname's side originated in Chesham Buckinghamshire, my grandmother's ancestors were from Norwich...and back in the 1700s I found a privateer...that's right babies, I be descended from pirates!! How cool is that?

Perhaps a wee bit unsavory (although government sanctioned) but certainly colorful

As stressful as I sometimes find it to be in charge (which I very rarely am, but have been twice lately), I find it more stressful to have my "boss" doing things I don't agree with and having absolutely no choice but to follow her decisions. I know exactly what you mean. A few weeks ago (when I have only been two weeks at the new department) my boss and colleague were on vacation and a business trip, so I was in charge. It was kinda stressful, but I enjoyed it alot. Liked it better, than doing things the way my colleague wants me to, even though the way she does things is not exactly right and organised...


OT: I'm watching a show on TV, which I already watched last night, about Pop and New Wave music from the 80's... Yes, I love Heavy Metal, Rock, Alternative and Punk, but the show reminds me of my childhood, the crazy hairstyles everyone had and those AWFUL clothes In a nutshell, the 80's ROCKED!!! WOHOOOOOOO!!!

Today was my last day of work for like the next seven weeks and even though this day started really, really crappy I'm all with the good mood today!
On Sunday we'll go to the annual marksmen's festival in my 'hometown' and it's gonna be awesome. Just have to sober up for my flight on Monday morning then Can't wait to go to the UK... Did I mention, that I LOVE flying?
