The dreaded exam thread

Postby 0 CaliSto 0 » Tue Jun 08, 2004 2:46 pm

so it's that time of year again when teenagers all over the world are craping themselves in anticipation of those horible exams.

My Leaving Certificate starts 2morro with a 5 hour English test, and I only start studying today. In ireland, this is one of the most important exams you'll ever take. I now think I should of hit the books instead of watching Xena or reading about Dietrich.

does any1 have any exam experiences they want to share.

Three hours of non-stop Biology while melting in the Great Hall and surrounded by sweaty smelly boys with all the windows and doors closed for 'exam conditions'.

Thankfully, I'm all done with exams until the end of the year (yay!). Schools around here tend to start early and end early (we were done and graduated before Memorial Day).

In terms of bad exams, I'd defnitely have to say the SAT and PSAT's. What an awful three hours to spend. Also, I took a semester of Art History on independent study, and since my teacher was too lazy to actually teach me, my "exam" was a research paper covering Paleolithic Art up through the Late Gothic periods. Now that was nightmarish...

well I got through my first day, wrote reems about Lady Macbeth, which im sure most of is irrelevant. Other than that it was okay. Tomorrow is another story though, with maths paper 1 in the morning and Irish paper 1 in the afternoon, then an Irish aural. aaaaaahhhh

I'd just like to share your pain over the leaving cert. I did mine a few years ago and however bad college exams are they just don't compare to the horridness of the leaving.

All the pressure from teachers, the media etc doesn't help either.

Good luck anyways - they'll be over soon!

exams just suck, don't they? lol

I've just got 6 hours of the things left. Had 3 hours of biology yesterday. Which i can handle- two 1.5hr exams, means i sit doing nothing for 20 mins at the end of each one. But chemistry tomorrow is 3, one hour exams, cuz they've been squished into a smaller time, meaning no breaks. And i've already done a 2 hour chem practical! :fit2

Ah well... they'll soon be over, and i can go up and see my Angel for a few days :D

Good luck everybody!

I'm relieved cos I just have one more exam and then I'm done, for another year at least. Unfortunately, these are amazingly important as they're what your university offers get based on (damn AS Levels) and so I'm having heart attacks about all of them, given as I'm applying to Oxford. So it's History tomorrow afternoon and instead of revising, I'm sitting at the Kitten and devising naughty television shows starring Aly and Amber that need showing on the Playboy channel with my friend. I'm hopeless. God I wish I knew how to revise. At least its History tomorrow and not anything appalling like English Lit, which I just managed to get through on Monday. Thank God I have good coursework marks (100%, yes!), cos the exam went really badly. But I know I did well in French cos on the Reading and Writing Paper I only dropped 2 marks (on the reading and grammar tasks cos you can't really grade the writing), the teachers went through it with us afterwards.

Good luck everyone with your exams... even though they're probably mostly nearly over by now.

Evil, evil exams...

I finally finished my last one today (GO ME *ahem*). It was my Human Biology exam, and one I'd been dreading. My teacher (who I have for both HB and Chem) said, "I'd rather sit the chem exam then the human bio one!"

That left me going *gulp*

But, I got through it. I got through it sitting in a minus 200 degree room, freezing my butt off and trying not to pop from stress...but I got through it. *G*

They were my first ever exams...I'm in year 11, and doing my TEE (Tertiary Entrance Exams...the exams in Western Aus) and have all the way till the end of the year for my next ones. *sighs*

I'm just glad the first lot is over.

Good Luck to all taking them soon!

Hell with that I have to GRADE exams! I'd rather take one test than have to grade 30 of them.

Plus my final grades are due only six hours after I start giving the final this year. Grumble...

one day i was taking an exam which i haven't had the time to study for so naturally i resorted to sitting down next to our brightest student & tried my very best to copy from her. the exam was over & days passed until the photography class exhibit day came. the exhibit was set up in the middle of the school for everyone to see & appreciate. so of course, my friends & i went for a little sight-seeing. guess what i found?

on one of the bigger exhibit boards was a black & white picture of me desperately trying my darnest to look over someone else's paper.

as i looked to my friends to share my shock & grief...i saw that they were all laughing their asses off. i've forgotten that one of my friends was indeed in that exhibit! :gnome

My last final is tomorrow morning at 8(spanish). Ive gotten like 10 hours of sleep, total in the past three days. I havent studied and I dont really plan to either, I'm just not in the studyin' mood. And Ive also had crazy amounts of caffeine, so I dont think I'm going to get a lot of sleep tonite.

That fact alone makes me hate Spanish.

At least its only two hours.
