Question for musicians or indie music fans...

Is anyone here a female indie/folk/rock type musician? Or know someone who is? I'm doing a project for school, and I was just looking for general opinions on: how the industry treats women vs. men, stereotypes, influences, etc. Even opinions from fans would be great. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help! Also, sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place or something! I'm new to this board (but I love it already). ;)

The kind of thing I'm looking for is mostly stereotypes you've experienced, or if you've ever been treated differently because you're a "girl musician" (whereas a lot of times men are simply seen as "musicians").
