It's Mondays Suck MKF 3/22/04

Postby xita » Mon Mar 22, 2004 7:10 am

This is for all of us who have to wake up early and get going on Mondays. I feel like singing Mamas and the Papas or maybe The Bangles. Yeah, I am showing my age.

Anyway, do you all have a waking up ritual? Mine is has always been pretty much, alarm - shower - breakfast/computer - go! Last week though, I saw someone's ritual that involved 5 different alarm systems starting with the television. I am also so not a morning person. I kinda like not talking to people for a good hour at least. I can def. be annoyed easily and be morning grumpy.

Have as a good a Monday as you can manage :p

My morning routine? Crawl out of bed, make my way to the sofa -whatever way I can get there, switch the computer on and collapse in heap in front of it.

Hmm, someone's having a bitter day. I also just found out that my Gran has had to go into hospital.

Ugh I hate the mornings. I have that one hour rule as well which is how long I think it takes me to wake up. My morning routine would be get woken up by the pounding of the childrens feet, pretend to be asleep for a couple more minutes, shower and get dressed, put the dogs out with some food, make a cup of tea and feed the kids, sit in front of computer and finally leave to muck out horse.

I have 2 final exams today, I should be done sometime around 9pm tonight so I'm going to go and read fanfic and make the most of the time I have before I need to go and muck out Muppet.

So, the day started and I knew my name and had my pants on. So far, so good. Yay.

Alarm (radio) at 5am...switch over to buzzer at 5:30am and keep hitting the snooze for 15-20 minutes. If I just wake up to the buzzer I have a heart attack plus I'll run into every wall in the house, it'll be a bad start. The radio allows me to soooooth my way into consciousness... lol

Shower, dressed..out the door...everything else happens when I get to work....tea, toast, computer..blah blah blah...

Mondays

Postby Saena » Mon Mar 22, 2004 12:52 pm

Well, guys, it's beginning to be allergy season! My mom has had this horrible cough for about 2 weeks now, and I'm starting to get it. My throat's all dry and scratchy, and I'm tired...eucch. Also, this is occurring 2 days before I have to go sing in a chorus festival that just happens to be really important to me. And the day I do a singing audition for the school play. So it's not coming at the best time.

But I'll deal. Mostly things are good.

As for my "Getting Up" ritual...alarm goes off 5:45 a.m. (I got a new alarm clock that works, but the old one sounded like the alarm in those doritos go snacks commercials and it used to drive me CRAZY whenever I would watch TV), I sleep until about 6:10, then get up and have breakfast, share the bathroom with my sister, and go to school. Nothing big.

There's only one thing I do with any kind or regularity on a morning (I work evenings so my getting up the next day is all over the place) but I have one necessity when I finally stumble out of bed: Get me a Custard Cream biscuit!! Once I have had that, then the day can begin!

I don't have a ritual in when/how I get up or exactly what I do after that, but some of those things individually have a ritual aspect. Like, I may shower first or I may get on the computer first. It depends on how dry I want my hair to be by the time I go outside. But I have a very strict order I must follow in and immediately after the shower. Yes, it matters which foot I wash first. :rolleyes

And there's a ritual with the computer, too, in the morning. Mail, news, weather, board, in that order. (Saving the best for last, of course.) I have a set of tabs bookmarked and I work through them right to left.

When I'm ready to go, I have a checklist in my head I have to go through, usually at least twice, and I have to touch each thing as I name it. Keys, watch, wallet, etc. This has been wonky since my watch battery died and I discovered I kind of liked not wearing one. I cannot remove it from my checklist, though, because that would throw everything - everything! - off.

Hope everyone had/has a very excellent day, night, week, and forever. :heart

I have no professional training. I already gave my best. I have no regrets at all.

monday morning sucks even more when it's "monday and therefore spring break is over and i'm in a stupid dormroom bed and not yummy cozy girl's bed elsewhere."

my ritual: turn on tv to whatever channel it's on, turn on computer, go back in bed and look for something to watch on tv while computer starts, and then inevitably end up watching the today show and then regis and kelly, and checking my email before going to class.

Morning rituals. Hmmm don’t have many other than there had better be coffee and I had better be early to work (I’m very anal about time). I really am not a bad morning person, once I get in the habit of getting up early in fact I rarely even use the snooze button. This morning started out bad and got to horrid. I forgot to turn the coffee pot on, so only one cup this morning,:cry and did I mention I was up an hour early because I could not sleep another wink. I got to work, my supplies for the day had not been pulled, then I get to the account to find out its spring break and I cannot get into half the bldg's I need to. So a 2 hour job turned into 5. Then it decided to open up and rain all over $800 worth of uncovered supplies in my truck. Suffice it to say I walked out of work and came home where I am attempting to dry aforementioned supplies. Contrary to how this sounds I usually am not this grouchy. I have decided that all the phones as well as the computer are getting turned off after this post. Thank goodness I have the house to myself, I could use the silence.

Mondays really do suck sometimes. Not all the time, but often enough to make me think it's on purpose.

The only waking up ritual I have is to let the dogs out. Or, they wake me up so I can let them out. And very often it's a half an hour or more before I even have to be up. They're good like that.

Here's to better Tuesdays for anybody who wants them.

Well, seeing as I was off yesterday, Monday wasn't so awful. ;)

Although, today isn't going so bad, as my supervisor is out, which means I can play music outloud, as opposed to being reduced to listening on headphones. I'm telling you, I shouldn't have to work under those conditions!

I'm one of those strange people who is fully awake a few minutes after I get up. The most important part of my morning ritual is going back to bed for a little cuddle with my girl before I have to go out to get the bus to work :luv2

Actually, Monday is the only day of the work week that I get to sleep in. Since I don't have to be in until 10, I'm not supposed to worry about work thats been left because it is all "supposed" to be done by Saturday night.

The rest of the week, I have to be in at 7. I just have to get through this week and then I'm on vacation. I'm down to counting the hours now. By this time Friday, I'm sure I'll be counting the minutes.

As far is rituals, mine usually takes place at night before I go to bed. Shower, set the coffee, go through my planner and make my lunch. I try to do as little as possible in the morning. But as I'm walking out the door, I'm kind of like Holley. Check everything that I'm supposed to have. Then I stand by the door and think of my mental list.

I hope everyone has a good day. I keep thinking of the Honeymooners "Pins and needles, needles and pins. It's a happy man that grins" Is it Friday yet?

Love to All,
