11-M, massive, cruel and senseless murder in Madrid

Postby Willowtara19 » Fri Mar 12, 2004 2:15 pm

:bigwave , kittens!!

Well....as I think you all know, there's been a terrorist attack in Madrid, Spain....I just wanted to start a thread where all the kittens could talk their mind about terrorism and this last attack and in remembrance of all the innocent people who died.

I thought I'd also say what happened and how's the situation in Spain right now....

It all started on March the 11th in the morning, at 7:39 a.m.

At 7:39 a.m., three of the four bombs bombs a train had inside, exploded in Atocha's station; 4 or 5 mins later, the four bombs another train, also in Atocha's station, had inside, exploded too; another 4 or 5 mins and two of the four bombs another train had inside, this time in El Pozo's station, exploded; and another 4 or 5 mins and a bomb in yet another train explodes, in Santa Eugenia's station....all these stations are in Madrid.

This morning, we had 198 dead people and over 1400 hurt people....I saw the latest news and we have 199 dead people (a 7 months baby died a few hours ago) and 1463 hurt people....38 of them really really critical, and 21 really critical....125 of the dead people have been already identified by their family members, but around 30 bodies of the ones that haven't been identified yet can't be identified, they're too destroyed :spin

Apart from all of this, we dunno for sure who did it....ETA or Al Qaeda....and this evening, at around 7 p.m., nearly all of Spain was in the streets protesting against the terrorism....sentences as "we all were in those trains, and we're 200 people less now" could be heard.

The government says it's been an attack against all Spain and democracy. And they keep saying justice will be done....I really hope so, this is so damn cruel, unfair and incredible.

They didn't just kill 199 people....they've destroyed a lot of families and lifes....I have 3 friends studying in Madrid, they weren't in those trains coz of fate....coz they usually take them at 7:30 a.m. to go to the university, but that day they didn't have the first lesson....thank God they didn't....but their 2 flatmates did....and now they're dead :( I just can't believe this all, I swear....not only two people I knew....a lot of people have been brutally murdered.

More or less, this is how things are right now in Spain....I can tell you all how things go if you want me to tho....

Thanks for standing all my rambling *blushes*

Lo siento mucho para todos en Espan~a :sob

. . . and please forgive me if my Spanish is off. The news of the bombing is a terrible tragedy. It is an awful crime, and separate heartbreaks for each and every family affected. :(

I have my own suspicions, politically (why ETA was blamed, but why it's probably not them) but now's not the time. Now's the time for grieving, and shouldering each other's burdens.

GG We must end violence, everywhere! :pray Out

I did assume ETA was responsible but it appears that may not be the case. It is all so senseless. It's mindboggling what some people are capable of and there is no answer to the why. I am so sorry for all the people who have been hurt by this.

Like everyone else here, my thoughts are with those who were hurt by this atrocity. It was very moving to see all the people, millions perhaps, demonstrating peacefully in the streets today.

Yet again so many innocents have died because of senseless terroristic attacks. When will this madness end?

My thoughts and sympathies go out to all those affected by this tragedy. May their wounds - physically as psychologically - heal.

All I feel is contempt for the people who are capable of such a cruel and senseless act of terrorism, regardless if it was a basque or islamic organization.

All my prayers and thoughts are with the family members and friends of all the murdered victims and of course with the victims who are still struggling for their lives. May there be no more fatality victims!

I really hope that the persons responsible are soon found and punished. The German Gouvernment for example is convinced that the ETA is responsible for the terror attacks. And if it should come out that it was indeed ETA and not Al Qaeda lots of people have to think about their "dark Islam - good western world" attitude. Because that would be a proof that there are organizations in the heart of europe who are able to do such massive terrorism without a thought of humanity.

I fear that past attacks have already made that all too clear and not just in Europe, but everywhere in the world, including the US (the Oklahoma bombing).

DrG - I'm absolutly on your side with that point. And all I wanted to say is that since the 9./11. at the latest, a lot of people think that only terror organizations of islamic belief are capable of such a terroristic act like it happend a few days ago. It's about time that this stereotype must be rethought/thought over (?, don't know what's exactly the right word).

The ETA is a proof for this, but sure not the first, like you said.

michellesflute, I agree with your point as well.

I must confess I have avoided the news a bit on this because it is so upsetting to watch and I cannot even imagine what the Spanish people and the victims families must be going through. All the millions of people going out as one to demonstrate was literally an awesome sight to see. I wish it would help.

Another senseless tragedy :( I can't imagine what this is like for the Spanish people but it touched me deeply to see demonstrations that made the people's commitment to peace so clear.

:bigwave , kittens!!

First of all I wanted to thank you all for your thought and prayers :pride

About the terrorist attack....we still don't know who did it. We have both national and international experts investigating what happened and how....what they say so far is that the attack has both ETA's and Al Qaeda's features.

Apart from that, ETA says it wasn't them, and Al Qaeda says it was them, they sent messages that said things like Spain's paying for supporting the US and let's see if the US are gonna protect Spain from them or not.....DAMN THEM :rage

There's also the possibility of ETA and Al Qaeda of working together....I dunno what scares me the most, to be sincere. ETA is scary, and Al Qaeda too....but the both of them acting together....goddess we are in trouble :shock

Then it's also been found out that whoever who did this....what they really wanted was for the 4 trains exploding in Atocha's Station....if that had happened, around 2000 people could have been killed :angry

And to top it off, the general elections in Spain were 4 days after the terrrorist attack....the politics in Spain have completely changed....we have a new government president, and he's the leader of the politic group of the oposition....and they won the elections with a huge difference :wtf The people in Spain acted according to the feeling the terrorist attack provoked on them....who knows how all of this will turn out, man :rolleyes

I really wish they find out who it was....and I think somehow we gotta stop this....put an end to terrorism once and for all, both national and international :happy
