In Remembrance of Tempest Smith

Postby CEsgirl13 » Mon Jan 26, 2004 12:28 pm

If any of you haven't heard about Tempest Smith she was a young girl who attended Lincoln Park Mddle School. Her fellow students teased and taunted her because of the dark clothes she wore and her Wiccan beliefs. They would also sing christian hymns around her. She expressed the torment that she dealt with in her journal.

On February 22,2001 Tempest Smith decided to end the pain she was experiencing. She fixed a leopard print scarf around her neck and hung herself from her bunk bed.

I find this very sad and I was just putting up a thread to remember her by. Tempest was a very special girl and it was very sad that her life had to end in that way.

The Lady's Prayer

The Earth is my Mother.

I shall not want.

Her hand brings forth the green pastures.

She tarries within the still waters.

She leads me in fields of fruitfulness for my Glory.

Yea, as I walk through the summer of life unto death,

I will not be afraid, for You are with me.

Your womb in the earth will enfold me.

You prepare a harvest before me and bless my home with children.

You fill me with milk and honey.

My cup overflows.

Surely, goodness and beauty will nurture me all the days of my life,

and I will become part of the earth forever.

May she find peace and love.......

Wow, that is one of the saddest things I have read in a long time.

And unfortunately, not something uncommon. Which is why something like the Trevor Project is so important.

Children are too precious.

Never thought I'd be sad at the death of a child. This is just rotten, really... teasing driving a kid to off herself like that. It's sick.

My heart goes out to everyone who feels the need to die just to make the pain stop.

It shouldn't have to be the only way out.

Willow: Hey Buff. One more thing. Buffy: Yeah? Willow: I’m gay. Buffy: Okay, Will. Xander owes me ten bucks.

I'm not a big cryer, but the story of what this (as I like to say) "Spiritual Sister" went through broke my heart. I know what it feels like to be hurt for W.iccan belifes. I've had water thrown on me, Bibles quoted, and (in all honesty) been blamed for the Bulbonic Plauge.

Tempest, I know how it feels, and I'm so sorry we lost your soul to the forces of predjudice. But the Goddes.s will watch over you, sister. You can rest in her arms now. Your torment is over.

I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone on the Kitten board, who make me feel that's it's ok and safe to be me. Love to you all.
