Hey all,

My first post here. I thought I'd get my feet wet with a drawing, as I've only recently tried writing and don't feel confident enough to post any of it yet. This drawing started out as a concept sketch for a doll I'm making (vamp Willow, though I'd like to make a Tara, too, eventually):

http://home.att.net/~bnebab/galry/grafx/your-monster-ed-2-bw.jpg

I hope to hang around a while. I like this board.

Hey, thanks, I'm glad you two liked it.

It's all drawn freehand (except for the text), though only after looking at lots of pictures of A&A. The sketches are my way of becoming familiar with a face before I try to sculpt it in miniature for my dolls (know the Sideshow 12" action figures? they're supposed to fit in with that scale). The first Willow dolls I made are episode specific and are really just remakes of the Sideshow figures, so I didn't really need to do any concept sketches for them, just study picture after picture of Alyson Hannigan and watch Dopplegangland a few times (oh whoa is me!). Here is a pic of those dolls (which aren't quite finished yet):

http://home.att.net/~binky2k/projects/btvs/vwil-wil-torso-06.jpg

The Tara headshot is supposed to be more realistic, as it's in preparation for a portrait doll somewhere down the road, whereas the Willow is more of my stylized version, as it's going to be an AU type of figure. Here's one of the first concept sketches for it:

http://home.att.net/~bnebab/galry/grafx/vwil-concept-2-comp-ed.jpg

But the hair on this one looks too anime and esoteric so I sketched the one that ended up on 'Your Monster.'

Anyway, hope you enjoyed this little tour of my workshop. Thanks again for your kind words.

Me? Make the tiny clothes?

I can barely sew at full scale, much less 1:6. I'm a menace with a needle and thread, not to mention a sewing machine. I've sewn pants legs shut trying to alter the hem (sadly, a true story).

The tiny clothes came with the officially licensed Sideshow dolls:

http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=buffy_12&item=2009
http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=buffy_12&item=2010

Seriously, I only made the heads. (What a strange sentence that was to type.) For the clothes, all I did was strip the official dolls and steal their clothes to give to my homemade ones. Kind of like Robin Hood for the GI Joe and Barbie knockoff community.

A cool drawing, as well as the doll heads. I absolutely loved the ball of flame in her hands; it was easy to imagine the feeling of holding it.

Hi all,
Thought I'd update this, as I just finished the Vamp Will doll:

Image

This started out as the Sideshow figure:

http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=buffy_12&item=2009

then "off wiv its head!" and on with one I made.
I've started a Tara head so maybe in, like, a couple of months, it'll be done (don't want to be too ambitious and say 6 weeks).

BTW, my avatar is a pic of a LEGO VW & Tara I made that were patterned after Psimetis' "Master Willow" Will & Tar. Here's the full pic:

Image

Of course, it's not accurate, as VW has a reflection.

hehe funny lego-type people. I don't really get how they look like Willow and Tara though (except for the redheaded one) Is it supposed to be more about the clothes than anything else?

Yeah what Ball o' yarn said. Although Willow's hair is.... well... obviously Willow's. :lol

They look a little evil, I think it's their eyebrows... maybe paint a little blood around their mouths :devil

Me like, though. Very good. :applause

Well, yes. They're supposed to look evil. At least Willow is. Tara's supposed to be just smirking, because Willow is evil, but she can't help but still have feelings for her. Here they are with Willow in grr arg face:
Image

You'd be surprised how hard it is to convey "evil smirk" on the tiny face. Plus they're supposed to be cute!
Image

I just love 'em. I have a pair on my desk at work and I keep switching VW's face depending on my mood. My co-workers think I'm weird.

Oooo I see now, Tara does look all smirky. The lego Vamp Willow is better with the display of evilness... although her grr face is adorable :lol

H,

I thought I'd post some of the drawings and graphics I accumulated while doing my comic. First one, called Wicked Red:

Image

Here's an untreated panel from the comic, Little Witches:

Image

While working on the comic (actually, still doing it), I accumulated 800 MB of backup Photoshop files, which I had to take off my hard drive. I threw them along with the files for my short stories onto a disc for archiving. Here's the label:

Image

I hope you enjoy them.

Thanks, guys!

Some more hard drive scrubbing, here's a couple more.

How Could You, a Glamour panel - I'm still in the process of cleaning up and coloring the comic panels. This one's been cleaned up, but needs to go through the tedious coloring process.
Image

Reflection, season 4 - A one-shot meant to illustrate Meet the Rosenbergs. A little too literal than I like. Kind of static and a bit boring. I might try to add some background or color this one, too.
Image

I'm hoping to be done with the Glamour edits in a couple of weeks and start on the next fiction project. Wish me luck.
