Yay! I am done with page 3 and completed chapter 20. Wow! What an emotional roller-coaster that was. I have to give you a gold star because your fic was the first to make me cry...ever. Simone's death was so tragic, even though it was kinda foreshadowed when Dawn told Kat that she wouldn't leave the Slayer without her love. At that moment I just knew she was going to die, but I hoped against hope that it wasn't going to happen..but it did. I'm not sure if I cried for Simone or Dawn. I think Dawn because her life was filled with hopes and dreams and they all came crashing down around her. I think that everyone that has someone close to them fears this very thing. Well, not having your lover murdered and tossed overboard, but being taken from you in a malicious manner. Just heartbreaking.

I'm glad you didn't just end her mourning after a couple of chapters either. A loss like that is substantial, life-changing even. I'm glad Tara is able to show Dawn compassion and tenderness that Willow is either unwilling or unable to share as her role as Captain. I understand she doesn't want to look weak in front of her crew. Especially now that she thinks that someone is plotting against her.

Now I'm not one to comment on sex scenes too often, but let me just say your choice for their first time was perfect. I fully expected some heated romp in the Captain's quarters and was pleasantly surprised you picked such a beautiful location. Well done, sir.

Now onto the mysterious coup leader. I have my guesses, but I don’t want to embarrass myself so I’ll just wait to see if I’m right. And that evil sorcerer. Nothing good can come of that.

Great job, Rick. By next update I should be all caught up.

Fhiwda There’s nothing easier or more fun to write than Willow and Tara snuggles. The sparring, now that took a little more time.
Thanks for your feedback

Alex_Vixen Dawn definitely has a talent for getting into trouble but I think it’s a big part of her charm. Glad you’re loving the story Alex and keep reading.

Thanks for your feedback

Ariel Glad that you like Liana as she is going to appear much more often from now on. I do try and put in as much detail that I can to make the characters and situations believable and visual to the readers so I’m glad it seems to be working.

Thanks for your feedback

Finey_McFine Willow and Tara’s sleepy snuggles are always sweet, Willow’s snores and all.
The two rogue crew members aren’t really that stupid. If they murder Willow outright Buffy, Xander and Dawn will immediately anchor the ship and will work through the entire crew until they find out who harmed their friend.

Dawn does have a tendency to attract trouble doesn’t she lol. Luck mostly not to fear though, she isn’t dead, just badly hurt, I’m too fond of her to kill her off. She will make a new friend too so it’s not as a bad as it appears.
Thanks for your feedback

True_Love I got a lot of feedback on Simone’s death which surprised me as I didn’t realise how popular she was. I needed to do it though to make Dawn realise that the life of a pirate isn’t as romantic as she believes it to be and as for the mourning of her love, that will never really go away. Dawn will make a new friend who will help heal her heart but Simone will always be there in her heart and mind.

Originally Dawn attempted to persuade Simone to join her and Kat when they left Willow. Because Simone said no, Dawn refused Kat’s offer. But that’s not why Simone was killed; she overheard the mutineers plotting when she was on her way to meet Dawn in her room and accidentally runs into the leader. When the leader realised what Simone knew they then killed her.

You’re bang on about Willow being unable to show any real feeling because of her position as the ships Captain, but she does have a great deal of sympathy for Dawn because she lost someone herself five years before her current adventure. However we will see her break down emotionally later.

I’m glad you liked Willow and Tara’s first time together. I wanted to give them a romantic setting for their first time which is why I chose to put them in that lagoon area to give them such a setting.
As for the coup leader and the evil sorcerer, all I can say there is that Willow is partially aware of one of these two threats, but which one?....
Thanks for your feedback.

Chapter 26

Headache and Heartache

*************************************************

Previously on Red Rosenberg
...the spear landed with a terrific crack against Dawn’s head. For Dawn everything went black and she fell to the ground, blood pouring down her face.

*******************************************************

She came to with a shock, her heart pounding against her ribs. She ached too much to open her eyes so she chose to just use her other senses to work out she was.

Noises came strangely to her ears. The cacophony of parrots squawking loudly, running water gurgling in a nearby brook, the gentle breeze in the trees, someone muttering close by. These all formed together to create one indistinct sound with no clear way to discern the separate noises from one another.

Something was trickling down the side of her head; it felt thick and heavy as it rolled down her temple, past her eyes to come to a halt on her cheek where the heat of the day quickly dried it. Very gradually she fluttered her eyes open and immediately felt sick at the brilliance of the sun so she shut her eyes again.

Dawn swallowed down the disgusting bile that had come up when she had tried to view the world around her. With her eyes shut her eyeballs moved rapidly under the lids as she attempted to work out what was happening around her.

The first thing that she became aware of was an intense headache. It was a massive pounding in her head, as if someone was repeatedly battering inside her skull with a very solid steel hammer. As she gently rolled her head to the side the hammering became even more discordant and she gritted her teeth and willed herself calm so as to diminish the battering in her head, even if only to the slightest of degrees.

The next feeling that slowly permeated her senses was that she was lying on her back at a slant, her shoulders resting against some kind of cushion or pillow; certainly it felt soft and warm enough that Dawn felt like sleeping. She slowed down the movement of her eyes and absorbed all the noises she could hear before attempting to discern each one separately.

The harsh screech of the parrots in the trees was the most obvious sound. Dawn quickly absorbed the discordant noise and added it to the rest of the information as she formed a rough mental picture as to where she was. The next sound was a phrase muttered again and again.

“Kawakopongapamto, kawakopongapamto, kawakopongapamto.”

It was no language or dialect that the girl readily recognised, that said the only tongue she was familiar with was the basic English that most people in the Star Fall Islands spoke, though she was aware that some of the Slayers crew had accented English. This was due to their having come from far off places in the world such as Zandamar, Sheng-tu and Khakashan. These people had travelled to the Star Fall Islands in search of adventure. From there the various travellers would either explore the local islands or gain passage on another vessel and travel even further abroad.

Still the word was being repeated over and over but as she listened closely Dawn began to separate the sentence in to individual words.

“Kahawa, kopo, unga, ngapi, mto.”

Still Dawn could not understand the language but from the way that the words were repeated over
and over guessed that they were either a prayer or some kind of spell after her experience with Tara on the beach conjuring up Simone’s spirit.

Once again she tried opening her eyes, much more slowly this time. Slowly her eyes flickered as they grew more accustomed to the light that shone down through the green leafy umbrella of the trees until finally they were fully wide open and Dawn took in her surroundings proper.

High above her the sky was a bright blue the sun having now shifted slightly in its orbit and so was no longer hurting Dawn’s eyes. As her eyes adjusted to the better light she could make out the varied hues of the greenery of the trees and the bright plumage of the parrots that flew from branch to branch.

As Dawn took in all this new visual information helping her create a better image as to where she was she also became aware of skin the color of chocolate just at the periphery of her vision and realised that her head was resting on the thighs of someone kneeling up which was why she was lying at a slanted angle. As her memory slowly came back Dawn remembered everything that had happened. She remembered seeing Liana in the jungle sparring alone with her Tammida, offering to spar with the girl, the fight itself then, as if in slow motion Liana swinging her Tammida, it coming down in an arc till it struck her hard on the head.

Liana, that was it. Liana had been the only other person in the clearing so it must have been her legs Dawn was resting on. A small smile curled at the ends of her mouth as she realised how comfortable she was resting against those firm, toned thighs.

As her eyeballs moved in their sockets to the left and right Dawn noticed something red and sticky on her face. She tried to raise a hand so she could find out what it was, unfortunately though at this particular moment her hand was made out of lead making it incredibly heavy to move.

Dawn attempted to swallow but discovered her mouth was dry and wondered why she hadn’t noticed this before. A low moan escaped her mouth and from the direction of the prayer came a gasp and a familiar face peered upside down at her own.

“Jambo? Lady Dawn, Habari?” Despite Liana being upside down the fear and worry in her face was plain to see. Dawn had no idea what Liana’s native tongue was but she was pretty sure the dark hued girl was concerned about her. She attempted to say something; anything but all Dawn could do was croak out

“Ugh.” and even this seemed to be a trial for the girl her throat feeling incredibly dry and rough, as though someone had thrust a bunch of nettles deep inside her mouth.

Liana intuitively understood that Dawn needed something to soothe her mouth and got the water bottle that lay at her side and poured a small amount in Dawn’s mouth. As the liquid trickled over her tongue and down her throat the semi-conscious Dawn noticed that her mouth felt as if it were filled with shit. As if she had eaten a huge pile of animal poo. It made her feel like throwing up. Somehow though she was able to keep the contents of her bowels down and within a few seconds was able to speak, or at least moan a little more clearly.

“Ouch, shit whoever’s hitting me head stop it. It hurts enough already,” she moaned agonised.
Liana felt relieved that her new found friend hadn’t died from the solid crack that she had unwittingly landed on Dawn’s head. She knew that she needed something to clean the blood off the other girl’s face but had nothing with her so she used all she had to hand and ripped off the sleeves from Dawn’s shirt. Liana then poured some water from her water bottle on to the rough material before applying it to Dawn’s head.

The young brunette hissed through her teeth as the pounding headache made its presence felt once more as soon as Liana began cleaning the bloody mess.

“I am sorry Lady Dawn, I do not mean to cause you much pain but it is how I make you well again,” Liana apologised, her voice filled with regret and more than a tinge of fear. She did not want to cause more hurt to Dawn than was necessary for she could well demand that Liana’s head be lopped off. After all wasn’t Dawn a princess?

Liana carefully cleaned away the blood from Dawn’s head being wary enough to not hurt her too much. As she did she noticed how Dawn tried to not show any sign that she was in pain. Liana admired this; she had a great deal of respect for those who admittance of the agony they were in, no matter how painful it was. She saw in Dawn a warrior so proud, noble and fearless she could have been one of the fabled Amazonians, so strong she had been when they had battled with the quarter staffs.

Satisfied that she had cleaned Dawn’s face to the best of her ability Liana wrapped her arms tight around the girl’s waist, hunched her body closer so that her front was pressed firmly to Dawn’s back and began to push herself up from the kneeling position she was presently in, hauling Dawn to her feet as she did so. As Dawn found herself being dragged to her feet, albeit reluctantly, she realised that she missed the comfy pillow-y feel of Liana’s thighs that her head had been resting on.

Once she was fully on her feet Liana slowly stepped, staggered in actuality, backwards till she arrived at her goal, a tree. There she loosened one of her arms from Dawn and grabbed hold of one of the other girl’s arms placing it around her shoulders. She then side-stepped until Dawn’s back was against the tree then lowered them both carefully to the ground. Her task accomplished the dark hued girl wiped the beads of sweat from her forehead for moving Dawn hadn’t been easy, even in the cool of the late afternoon it had been hot and she wasn’t a light person by any means. After they were both settled Liana took a closer look at her friends face. Apart from the cut on her head where Liana had struck her to hard, which was now healing, there were only a couple of bruises on her head and hands where her staff had hit Dawn more lightly other than that she appeared to be fine.

As Liana was checking her over something caught Dawn’s eye. There was a part of Liana’s head that was even darker than her skin. Dawn tentatively reached out with her hand towards Liana’s head, gaining a curious frown from her companion who watched the ever nearing body part with a slightly suspicious eye. Dawn used the lightest of feather-light touches on Liana’s head. She removed her hand and seeing the red liquid stained there showed it to her new friend.

“I must have struck you pretty hard too, look you’re bleeding.”

More in wonderment than anything else Liana looked down at the crimson stain on the brunette’s hand. She then placed her own hand to the injury wincing at the slight stabs of pain that shot through her head. She gazed uncomprehendingly at the blood on her hand then looked back across at Dawn.

"I did not have sight of this."

Dawn smiled, "Well I do, so I'll wash it for you. It's the least I can do," she said as she brought the wet cloth to the other girl's wound.

"I mean you washed my head so it’s only right that I clean yours for you."

“Yes,” Liana smiled back, “I did this. So I will take your gift.”

Carefully, Dawn wiped away the blood using the cloth that Liana had used on her. It soon became clear that the wound was only slight and a bit of water from Liana’s bottle was poured over the gash. Finally Dawn tore the other sleeve off her shirt and wrapped it around Liana’s head as a makeshift bandage.

Liana stood up and offered a hand to Dawn which she took gratefully. As soon as she was on both her feet Dawn’s head started to throb painfully again and she nearly fell back on the floor. It was only Liana’s quick wits that prevented her from collapsing back on the ground.

“Lady Dawn, you is still greatly sick,” she said with great concern as she held Dawn close to her.
Liana found herself enjoying the feel of Dawn holding herself up by resting her hands on her hips and her scent was pleasing too. Liana just wished she could let the girl in her arms know that she cared for her, how much she cared for her. But she was very aware that Dawn was grieving for Simone and she respected her need to lament too much to make any kind of advance on her. She looked up at the sky seeing that the sun was now starting to descend and knew that it would not be long before darkness fell.

“Come Lady Dawn, we must get back to the camp. It will not be safe here soon.” She stooped to pick up her knife and staff being careful not to allow Dawn to fall to the ground then wrapped Dawn’s arm around her waist while she placed her own round Dawn’s shoulders and slowly the two girls set off through the jungle back to the beach.
*************************************************

The duo approached the camp at sundown and the tinge of the sky had altered imperceptibly from the light, bright blue of the afternoon to a darker shade of indigo. As the trek had worn on the pain in Dawn’s head had returned and Liana had ended up mostly dragging the other girl along the path to the beach. In the distance she could see Alex and Laragh strolling back to the safety of the fires,

“Nisaidia, nisaidia,” she called out to them in exhausted desperation, her voice weary from having had to practically carry Dawn back to the beach. The two pirates turned at the voice and saw the girls ready to drop. After a quick discussion Laragh ran to the fires shouting for aid while Alex went to assist Liana. She took the bulk of Dawn’s weight off the dark skinned girl and eased her to the sandy beach.

“Shit Li, what did you do to her?”

“I is sorry, it was an accident. I did not mean to hit her so hard, please do not punish me, I did not mean to do bad.” By now panic had set in on the girl and she was trying to hide the fear of being punished for having hurt Dawn.

“Shut up will ya Li, jus’ help us get the kid back t’ camp,” Alex was getting annoyed with Liana and what she saw as her fearful whimpering which revealed itself in her aggressive tone of voice. Liana felt even more cowed by Alex but, keeping her head bowed she did as she was bid and wrapped an arm around Dawn’s waist while placing the other over her shoulders and Alex did likewise. As they set off they could see in the distance a small group headed in their direction

The groups met in the middle with the other led by Laragh and Buffy with Jules, Chou-Ann and Tara.

“See Miss Buffy, its Dawn like I said,” said Laragh observing Dawn’s injury with an interested eye.

“Aye Laragh, and with another injury too, I’m guessing it must be a Tuesday. She only gets into trouble on a Tuesday,” Buffy sighed as she took in her dazed sister on the beach in front of her. “Tara can you do something to help?” She asked, turning to her fellow blonde.

“I...I think so, let me take a look.” She knelt down and cupping Dawn’s chin gently raised her head until she had eye contact with the young girl. “My, you have been in the wars haven’t you,” Tara said, her voice soft as a summer breeze as she looked carefully at the head wound, a frown tugged at her lips as a single whispered word escaped the girl’s mouth.

“Momma?”

As the word came out a look of sadness came over Buffy’s face but before Dawn could notice she quickly shook her head and became all business again only to be a little startled when Liana threw herself prostrate at the second-in-command’s feet.

“I am sorry Lady Buffy, I never meant to hurt your sister Lady Dawn but I hit her by accident and I never meant to hurt her and please do not beat me I never meant to harm her please.” By now she was sobbing, fearful of the punishment that Buffy would impose on her for striking her sister with her.

“What are you talking about Liana? You did this? Why?” Buffy was baffled by Liana’s mournful caterwauling.

“Look, come and tell me what happened,” and she helped the girl to her feet and they walked a little away from the main group to allow them a modicum of privacy while Liana related what had occurred in the jungle.

Tara was working on Dawn’s head, her fingers glowing as she stroked them across the girls wound knitting together bone and healing muscle tissue and veins in the head itself before finally closing up the gash.

“There, you’ll still be in a little pain but you should be fully recovered in a day or two,” the witch said smiling fondly at her guard. Dawn give her a wry smile in return.

“Thank you Tara,” she replied swallowing back a sharp stab of pain. “Don’t let em hurt Liana. It was just an accident; she never meant to hurt me.” Her eyes were full of pleading as she looked up at Tara who returned the gaze with a warm smile.

“Don’t worry sweetie, I’ll make sure that no harm comes to her,” she assured Dawn placing a hand on her shoulder and gave it a friendly squeeze before heading over to where Buffy was trying to understand what Liana was telling her but it was hard to make out as she was sobbing heavily and switching between her native tongue and accented English.

It wasn’t long before everything was sorted out. Tara had given some words of comfort to Liana who finally explained all that happened to Buffy and Tara to which Buffy had replied with a sigh and an eye roll, “yep, it definitely sounds like a Tuesday.”

Now the party of eight were making their way back across the cool sand to where the bonfires roared away, illuminating the camp in dancing patterns of yellow and orange flame. Despite Dawn’s protestations that she didn’t feel as bad now as she had before, Liana demanded that she help her back to the camp going as far as grabbing the paler girl’s arm and wrapping it around her shoulders while she placed her own arm round Dawn’s waist, all of which amused Buffy and Tara greatly.

Closer to the back of the group Alex and Laragh were talking quietly.

“Has she told Dawn yet?” Alex enquired.

“Dunno,” Laragh replied in a casual manner. “Doubt it though, she ain’t really had time ta tell her much, she’s gonna have ta soon though.”

Whilst they spoke in hushed tones sharp ears had picked up that part of their conversation and stored it away for future use.

******************************************************************************

The meal that night was quiet, even Dawn was less chatty than her usual exuberant self, primarily due to her head still throbbing even after the blonde witch’s ministrations but she still spoke in a hushed tone to Liana who sat by her side after having taken it upon herself to look after the girl since she blamed herself for Dawn’s head injury. Buffy barely ate a thing, her face a portrait of depression and misery. Something which puzzled Dawn as it was rare for her sister to look so gloomy. Dawn decided that she would ask Buffy about things later. And all the while eyes were on the sisters hoping for a way to create dissension between them.

After a time the silence grew to heavy for Tara’s liking and she determined to try and try and bring some brightness and levity to the meal, even if only to try and cheer up Buffy a little. She turned to her left where her red-head lover sat, a hand resting on Tara’s thigh.

“W...Willow, you promised you’d tell me the rest of your life story, why not now.”

Willow contemplated what had been suggested and nodded agreeably.

“Aye lass, it sounds like a grand idea, so where was we..”

Dibs! :whip

YAY! I'm all caught up. Woo hoo! :banana :eatme :banana

First, to address your author's note. Thanks for writing this adventurous tale and sticking with it. It so different from anything else on the board and that makes it exciting to read. Leaving fb is my way of thanking you for all your effort. Also, a small act of bribery to get you to continue on (we all need that sometimes :grin ).

So, on to feedback - As always the actions scenes are great and the food is . . . disgusting. Lol. I guess if I had to make my pick it would be the wild hog, but even then your descriptions of hacking them up still turn my stomach.

I think that fact that Tara was able to do the spell/prayer to bring Simone's spirit back was great, but I kind of found what she had to say disturbing. She told Dawn that they were meant to be together and she missed her, watched and would be waiting for her in the Golden Palace. She also said that Dawn would find someone else to love. Okay, there are three reasons I find this upsetting. 1a. So apparently in this GP you still feel pain and sorrow, hopes and fears, it doesn't sound very pleasant. Kind of like a big waiting room for your soul, not heaven-like at all. 1b. Whatever happened to Simone spirit sounded painful and nobody really knows what happened to her. 2. Simone telling Dawn that they are meant to be together - Does that mean that Dawn, at her young age, will never love anyone to the depths she loved Simone and the rest of her life she will basically be alone? 3. Simone telling Dawn she will love someone else - Okay, this contradicts what she just said or Dawn will basically be using whoever else she is with until she dies then she'll ditch them for Simone in the GP. WHAT! That's crazy.

I loved that you had Tara get all pissy when Willow and Dawn had their whole skirmish, but really that was a great tool to get W/D to spend some private one-on-one time together not in front of the crew so they could make up. Also, it was great to see Tara stand up for herself with Willow regarding her history and the type of relationship that we wants to be in.

Now, we have Liana on the scene and I’m guessing that she will be the love that Simone was talking about. Sigh…I don’t even want to go there because this is so confusing for me.

Poor Buffy, I have a feeling she is really missing her family and the fact that she doesn’t have anyone to love is probably just adding to her sadness as she watches W/T and D/L.

AND now we have crew members trying to poison Tara. Not to mention that the evil sorcerer is still waiting for them and we haven’t heard much about him lately. What’s going on there? Did he work the bad voodoo that attacked Simone’s spirit maybe? Good grief you have a lot going on. Can’t wait to see how you resolve it.

Keep up the great work!

True_Love Hey Lexi, a big YAY on your dibs and another on your finally being all caught up.

Regarding your questions, 1a) In the Golden Palace you keep memories of your life, when you were living, both good and bad but it is mostly a place of peace. 1b) you’re right that what happened to Simone was painful, she was murdered in a grisly fashion and no one really knows what happened, yet.

2) Dawn’s relationship with Simone was akin to hat of Willow and Tara’s in that they were soul-mates and that will always be the status quo. However Simone would not want Dawn to live a spinster’s life and will gently persuade her to find love with another until they can be re-united. I know that it’s sad but I hope that it’s a little joyful at the same time that Dawn’s lover is watching over her from the GP.

Tara standing up to both Dawn and Willow was one of my favourite scenes to write, I do have a lot of love for kick ass Tara. It’s also a positive sign that Tara is growing in confidence due to her time on the Slayer.

You’re bang on about Buffy missing her family, and she’s going to make a decision regarding this that will affect Willow deeply.

Whilst the evil sorcerer is waiting in his lair for Willow and the gang to turn up he didn’t send the scary arm that attacked Simone’s spirit, but there are a lot of strange creatures in the spirit planes.

Thanks for the feedback 

Chapter 27

Willow’s Story part 2

Cap’n Bloody

*******************************************
Previously on Red Rosenberg

“W...Willow, you promised you’d tell me the rest of your story, why not now.”

Willow contemplated what had been suggested and nodded agreeably.

“Aye lass, it sounds like a grand idea, so where was we..”

******************************************************
“When I left off before me and Xan were on Narina, living in a tavern waiting till summat came our way. We made some money goin’ ta fight pits an’ scrappin wi’ anyone fer a few pieces o’ gold ta pay fer a room and grub. Then we met William Bloody, One of the most viciousest pirates what ever sailed.”

A foreboding silence suddenly fell over the group as they heard the name of one of the most terrifying pirates ever to sail the seas. He was reputed to be one of the vilest people to exist with no qualms about killing anyone whether they were friend or foe.

He had learnt his trade in the service of the equally fearsome Captain Garius Halak but had quickly led a mutiny and claimed the ship for himself slashing the belly of his former captain open and sewing two live rats found in the hold into the bloody opening. Needless to say Halak died slowly and painfully. Now Bloody led his crew in search of heavily laden galleons sailing the seas around the Isle’s of the Dawn, not caring if he raided other pirate ships or merchant vessels just as long as it bought in gold or other precious cargo.

“Now ya all have to understand tha’ me and Xander had no idea who he was. He just came into the tavern one evenin’ when me and Xan were havin’ a drink after we had a couple a’ hours in the pits. He came in all poncified in a fancy blue suit with a ruffled shirt, his hair all slicked back an’ ever’thing, he looked a right knob he did,” she smirked, getting grins from the crew members.
“So he comes in like he owns the place an’ this hush falls all over the place like he’s some kind o’ lord or one of the rulers of the isles. As soon as he enters a hush entered the entire tavern and he just strolled around the place before making a halt in front of the bar an’ tells ever’one there he’s lookin’ fer crew members. Now normally there’s allus a coupl’a hands that immediately go up when some one comes fer crew but not this time, the bastard’s were all too damn scared o’ him.”

“Aye, an’ then ya had ta volunteer us din’t ya yer bloody idiot,” Xander piped up from across the fire grinning at her. “I never did forgive ya fer that.”

Willow grinned cheekily back at her friend, “Ahh shaddap Xan, ya know ya had a good time, admit it.”

“I’ll get back ta ya on that,” he replied with a mocking pout making the assembled crowd laugh. Apart from Katarina that is.

“How can ya have not wanted ta be wi’ Captain Blood,” she said complaining, almost whining. “Ain’t he meant ta have raided the palace of King Jitari of Yotakami? Gods, I’d a loved ta be there when he did that.”

Willow and Xander both looked a little uneasy at this and shared a glance.

“Dunno ‘bout that palace raid, must bin afore our time, but b’lieve me, ya wouldn’t want ta be on his ship if ya could avoid it, he were a fuckin psycho,” Xander told her darkly. There was something in his words that made Kat swallow nervously before rolling her eyes in an offhand manner and just regarded what he said by uttering the ‘piffle’ and a wave of her hand. All the time Willow just observed her but said nothing.

Another awkward silence had fallen over the group with everyone looking at each other nervously while Katarina just looked into the yellow flames of the fire as if she could see within the flaming tongues of fire the raid on King Jitari’s palace and a small smile tugged at the corner of her mouth. Finally Willow, sensing how ill at ease everyone was once again becoming, she went back to her tale.

“Anyways, I tells him we’ll join him, by that time I’d been on land far too long as it was. He just looks at us ta see if we was good enough ta join his crew and told us ta wait outside. So me an’ Xan we finishes our ale, get’s our packs from our room and leaves some gold ta pay fer our room n’ board an’ goes ta wait outside fer him. Five minutes later and he emerges wi’ two others, these were older sea salts, one, Brice who became ships cook. He had a thick mop o’ white hair an’ the thickest sideburns I ever saw, I tells ya these were like garden hedges they was that thick. He were a good man though, very gentle I always found it strange that he sailed wi’ Cap’n Blood an’ I asked him about it one time. He told me that a gypsy had cursed him so that he could only stay on land fer a day else he’d die. He said that he had spent the last five decades at sea barely going ashore, not even ta visit a brothel or go gaming. I had told him that I were sorry fer him but he told me it had been his stupid fault fer getting the gypsy’s daughter up the duff in the first place and he planned soon to retire from the sea anyhow, he’d had a good long life and it were his time now. A couple of days later and we pulled in at the port of Mishna fer supplies. He jumped ship an’ I never saw him again.”

Willow looked forlornly into the fire at this wondering what had happened to old man Brice and if he eventually found some sort of peace. Tara felt her sadness and put her hand on top of Willow’s, a gentle reminder that there was someone who cared and would be there for her as long as she needed them to be.

Xander, also sensing the redheads upset decided to continue the story to help cheer Willow up as best he could.

“Aye, an then there were Eilden, now he were a right rum ol’ rogue tellin’ stories of when he used ta wrestle lizard men n’ minotaur’s, smuggle brandy along the western coast of Sindara to towns and cities where it were banned. He even told us of how he helped sneak refugees from the city of Kabesh to Khul during the Kabesh war when it were under attack from the kingdom o’ Lagash.”
“Aye, he were the one who really showed me how ta fight an’ use a sword,” piped up Willow hiding her grief behind a mask of happiness. A mask that Buffy, Xander and Tara all saw through and wished they could relieve but all three of them knew that there was some pain that lived with all your life.

For Tara all this was fascinating as all she knew of the world was what she heard when sailors came into her father’s tavern and they told tales of all the things they had seen and done while in foreign waters. Unfortunately her father never the poor girl much of an opportunity to listen to the tales she was kept so busy with work or hidden in her ‘lodgings’ down in the sewers. So to say Tara was listening intently to Willow’s story of adventure was putting it mildly. She was sitting practically on the edge of a log that had been dragged down to the fires for seating and Tara was seated in such a way that she appeared to be on the verge of falling off. Her legs were tucked in close to her body with her arms folded across the thighs. Tara’s blue eyes were wide in excitement and her head jutted out just a little so she could be sure to catch every last word. For the first time ever she was hearing an adventure in full and didn’t plan on missing a word of it.

“So Bloody takes us all down ta harbour ta his ship, an’ I tells ya, his ship were one o’ the grimmest things I ever seen. ‘Twere a galleon made entirely out o’ ebony, the sails were of black cloth. This were handy fer sneakin’ up on other ships at night. He even had a large fake skull made and summat ta...ta...,” Willow fumbled for the right phrasing, her lack of verbal skill impeding her as she mentally attempted to grasp for the words to use. Finally she just used the only words that could come to mind. “It were painted in summat that glowed weird green in the dark an’ cos the rest of the ship was all dark it would look as if a skull were floating above the water towards anyone we approached.”

At the ships description the crew turned to each other in awe and wonder. A ship that was completely black so that it could steal up to other ships at night, plus a large fake skull attached to the bow to help add to the supernatural aspect of the galleon. Everybody started to make similar suggestions to Willow who promised she would consider each idea, no matter how outlandish it seemed. Once the chatter had died down the redhead continued with her tale.
“So anyway’s me and Xander had gotten work aboard his ship as he plied his trade around the Black Ocean. Heh, there weren’t many merchant vessels that could escape his grasp, I tells ya the amount o’ gold, jewels, spices, silks, precious stones and rare herbs and metals that we stole from other ships, we could all retire from the proceeds ten times over. But tweren’t enough fer him, he had ta keep plundering and robbing ships.”

The redhead’s voice took a downturn here and her eyes became haunted as her memories of her early pirating career came flooding back. “I reckons as ta how he just liked ta hurt people, ta kill em, like he took some kinda pleasure out of it. Oy Xan what’d he do to any prisoners he had,” she called out to her friend.

“Oh I remember that only too well,” he replied, “if someone said summat Bloody di’nt like, well he’d skewer ‘em then have em tied up in rope an’ held above the water. He’d let the blood drip till the sharks came and started ta cause a huge frothing. Then he’d have the person dropped in’ta water so’s he could watch the sharks eating at his victims. It were a horrible thing ta watch if the victims were still alive and they was screaming fer help.” His voice had darkened as he concluded his part of the tale of the rescue of Buffy and Dawn. Everyone had gone silent and some of the girls exchanged nervous glances with each other glad they weren’t facing William Bloody.
There came from one part of the bonfire an excited ‘yip’ and everyone turned to see Kat with a look of wild eyed excitement.

“Ye have summat ta share wi’ us Kat?” Willow asked in a lazy way, hoping to catch the girl off-guard and say something incriminating.

“Aye, this is the kinda tale I remember hearing about Cap’n Blood,” she replied in an over enthusiastic manner which un-nerved other crew members. “How he’d torture his victims ta death just ta be sure they weren’t tryin’ ta get away wi’ some kind o’ hidden booty. Why don’t ya ever do that Cap’n?”

The sudden question stymied Willow for a moment as she didn’t immediately realise one had been asked. When Kat’s words did sink in she was shocked at the idea that she would needlessly harm another. True, she had killed people but she was a pirate and it did tend to go with the territory. Plus the other people were usually trying to kill her back but she would never go to the lengths that her former Captain did. When Willow replied her voice was colder than the freezing air at Kalima, the frozen continent at the top of the world said to be the home of Farigiss, goddess of ice and cold.

“I’ll tell yer why I don’t hurt people that way. Cos I is a pirate, not a murderer and I may be a bitch but I ain’t a fuckin’ evil bitch.” A long silence followed where it appeared that Kat was trying to stare her Captain out but the grim look on Willow’s face made her give in after a few minutes. All those seated were very quiet and no one spoke after the redhead’s outburst for fear of offending Willow further.

Willow stopped talking and she stared deeply into the flickering, dancing flames of the bonfire, as if she could picture there her former captain torturing and harming innocent. Tara noticed her lover had again gone quiet and that her normally cheery disposition had vanished. She placed a comforting arm around Willow’s shoulders and the redhead turned to look at her. Tara gave her a loving smile which she returned and she snuggled further into the warm embrace. After a few moments in the loving arms of Tara Willow had collected herself enough she continued her narration. “Aye, so where was I now, oh aye so there we was, sailing along quite nice like and robbing from others then one day we spotted a larger vessel than the norm. It were goin’ from Arion ta Jitara. Well once ol’ Billy sees it he can tell it’s a merchant vessel of some type he sets sail after it firing a coupl’a shots at it, jus enough ta scare them and make em surrender. Trouble is, it don’t make em surrender like he supposes, stead they do a runner an’ they open their sails fully, they even take a couple o’ pot-shots at us firing from their rear cannons. We was lucky that they was crappy shots but there were a coupla close uns. They smashed off the sides of the ship and crashed inta the water.”

“Finally we catches up wi’ her and throw grapple hooks ta bring her up against us an’ prepared ta charge her, swords drawn. There we were, two crews on two ships facing each other weapons drawn. I could see a battle fire in their eyes and in the eyes of me shipmates. As we pulled their ship closer ta ours some o’ the crew leapt over ta the other only ta crash inta swords or gettin’ shot by flintlocks ‘n pistols an’ they fell inta’ water. As soon as we were close enough we opened fire wi’ our own pistols. Cap’n Blood tol’ us not ta use our cannon’s cause he wanted the other ship so’s he could sell it later on when he went ta Tortuga.”

Here Willow turned to Tara, “Tortuga is the Pirate Isle and it’s the only place where no one would dare attack cos the entire place has twenty pounders. Those are guns, I’m over explaining ain’t a’”.

Tara grinned at Willow “I...it’s alright, I understand.”

Willow grinned back, happy that her lover understood what she was telling her.

“So it’s this isle wi’ that no one dare attack cos all those lords ‘n rulers an whatnots they know what’ll happen if they do, the ships they’ll lose. It’s where El Lobo, the Pirate Lord has his base. It’s a kinda place for all pirates ta meet in peace n’ they can buy and sell all kinds o’ wares, from jewels an’ stuff what they nicked from other vessels ta new ships. One day I’ll take ya there.”

“Th...there’s a Pirate Lord?” Tara asked in wonderment surprised that such a lawless group would need some kind of a ruler, certainly the few that she had met while being used as a serving wench by her father never appeared to acknowledge any kind of a ruler over them.

“Aye lass, if any pirate captains had any differences o’ opinion they takes it ta him an’ he sorts it out. He can be brutal at times though, at least more than one has met a bloody fate at his hands.”

Hearing this Tara looked uneasy, as if she were going to El Lobo right there and then. Willow, seeing the girl’s discomfort reached out and rubbed her arm to reassure the blonde.

“Its a’right Tara lass, he ain’t gonna hurt ya none. I won’t let him.”

Though comforted knowing that the redhead was always going to be there for her Tara was unsure if Willow would ever be able to actually protect her from the Pirate Lord, but she kept her fears to herself.

“So likes I say there we was, their crew an’ ours facing each other ready ta go ta war

Flashback

Willow noticed that the other ships gun-ports were closed which she suspected meant it only had a minimum crew aboard meaning it would be a lot easier to take the vessel.

“On my command,” barked out Bloody. He raised his sabre, etched with intricate patterns on it, to the sky and stared over at the enemy craft.

Both crews were equally ready for the battle hands gripping swords and pistols, prepared to attack and throwing curses and offensive epithets relating to the each other’s parentage.

“NOW,” the blonde haired pirate yelled out and the first wave of attackers leaped from the Reaper over to the opposing vessel. The first few died instantly caught on the blades of the foe but the next grouping, Willow’s group, for experience had taught her to not be one of the first to jump in battle, started to balance out the enemy force.

As she leaped across Willow kicked one of the others in the face knocking him to the deck. She fired her pistol but the aim was off and she merely clipped the man’s shoulder. She swung her blade hoping to slash him across his face but he was too fast for her and brought his own sword up to block her attack then kicked her in the shin making her stumble slightly and giving him a slight chance to get to his feet.

The two faced each other and their swords struck with a resounding clash. They fought, forcing each other back and forth across the deck, a deck which was by now awash with blood making it hard to stay upright. Something which Willow soon discovered as she slipped and fell hard on her backside.

“Oh, that hurts,” she moaned, wanting to rub her now tender butt. Her eyes widened in fear as the man above her sneered at his now helpless victim and plunged his sword toward the girl’s heart.

Chapter 28

Willow’s Story Part 2 Cont

When Willow met Buffy
****************************************************************

Previously on Red Rosenberg

The two faced each other and their swords struck with a resounding clash. They fought, forcing each other back and forth across the deck, a deck which was by now awash with blood making it hard to stay upright. Something which Willow soon discovered as she slipped and fell hard on her backside.

“Oh, that hurts,” she moaned, wanting to rub her now tender butt. Her eyes widened in fear as the man above her sneered at his now helpless victim and plunged his sword toward the girl’s heart.

****************************************************************

Willow tried to avoid the blade by rolling to the side but wasn’t quick enough to avoid the sword slicing into her side. She screamed out in agony as the chipped edge cut through her flesh. The gash wasn’t deep but painful and bled but not profusely. Willow slowly got to her feet, teeth gritted and rage burning in her eyes.

As the enemy struck at her again she raised her sword and blocked the weapon and deflected it away from her. Now the fight was on again and she quickly had her opposite number on the retreat as she thrust her weapon at the man forcing him back and trying to defend himself. The weapons rang as steel on steel clashed. Willow nearly slipped in blood again but dropped to just one knee ducking her head as the man slashed his blade in an attempt to separate her head from her body.

The man swung his blade in a wide arc, too wide for as it skimmed over Willow’s head, he nearly slipped in the blood himself, the weight of the metal weapon dragging him back. He felt an incredibly sharp pain that made him want to cry. He looked down and saw the redhead’s blade coming out of his genitals.

Seeing the bladed weapon protruding from his most private, and sensitive, parts seemed to finally register with the man and he let out a blood curdling scream as one of his testicles fell out of the slash in his pants and on to the deck. Removing her blade Willow then cut the man’s shrill cry short as she slashed through his throat before plunging it deep into his heart, stilling the beating muscle.

The battle lasted for hours and the air sang with the screams of the dying and wounded while the blood flowed like wine. Finally though Blood’s crew overwhelmed the other crew, mainly by sheer force of numbers and forced them to cede.

Despite the other ships crew willingness to admit defeat, their Captain wasn’t ready to surrender so Blood decided to persuade him via torture, in the comforts of the other Captain’s cabin. No one knew what happened but they all heard the screams, horrific, piercing shrieks of agonising pain that emanated from the Captain’s cabin.

It wasn’t long afterwards that the naked bloodied body of the still living Captain was dragged up on to the deck where he was dropped, without ceremony, before both crews. All that were assembled could see his body clearly. It was covered in blood that wept from open wounds where a blunt knife had slashed through the body cutting into his veins, it was vividly clear where the knife had been utilised to slice into the older man’s more tender, sensitive body parts but had carefully avoided any of the major organs to ensure that he would stay alive long enough to ensure the maximum amount of suffering that could be expended upon its reluctant recipient.

How Willow didn’t throw up she didn’t know. The redhead had sailed with Cap’n Blood for several months now, but had never really gotten used to his appetite for harming others. Her eyes darkened as the redhead’s thoughts turned once again to her Captain and his predilection for sadism and torture to others.

While Blood was busy torturing the other ships Captain, Willow made her way over to the hatch that led down into the hold.

Though it was dark in the hold there were little spots of sunshine that shone in through the slats in the planking of the ship and danced on the wooden floor as the ship reeled from side to side on the rolling ocean waves. Carefully Willow made her way down the steps and took down an oil lamp from a nail in one of the supporting timbers and using a flint, lit the wick. The dark retreated from the light of the lamp as the night falls back from the oncoming daylight.

The first thing that struck the pirate was the overwhelming aromas of vomit, body waste and urine. She had to swallow hard to force the bile back down her throat. All around was the loud humming of blue bottles and several times Willow she had to slap at her face and neck to squash them when they landed on her. It was hot in the hold, so hot that she could barely breathe and the sweat soaked through her shirt making it stick to her lithe frame and run in rivulets down her face as if someone had thrown several buckets of water over her. Willow unfastened her shirt fully to try and ease the perspiration but it didn’t do anything to help her.

She carefully made her way down the passageway; her booted feet squelching through the sick, and shit that covered the floor, the oil lamp lighting only a few inches ahead of her so she cautiously kept her hand on the handle of her blade.

As the redheaded pirate carefully made her way through the now dimly lit passageway of the hold she heard a strange noise coming from up ahead. There was some kind of a clinking sound, like chains striking against each other with the rolling motions of the galleon that they were sailing on. Willow halted at the sound and raised the lamp illuminating the darkened area ahead of her, tilted her head a little straining her hearing to see if another sound revealed itself, the sound of shuffling feet in case someone was awaiting her but all was silent.

She continued down the corridor even more wary than before with her hand ready on the hilt of her sword. The clinking of the chains was getting on her nerves as it prevented her senses from discerning if there was anyone, or anything, ahead waiting for her in the dark. Again she paused and tried to listen but couldn’t hear a thing for now all was silent in the hold. It was just herself and what little light the lamp provided.

Again she stepped forward cautiously when WHAM, the flat blade of an oar smashed her full in the face. As she fell flat on her backside into the mess of human vomit and excretion she dropped the lamp plunging the area into darkness. As Willow got up from the floor she was fully alert that there was someone nearby. No, not someone but someone’s, there were several people close at hand and most likely unfriendly judging the smack in her face she had just received. Willow licked a dribble of blood that poured from her nose and raised her fists in readiness for the fight that she knew would follow. As there was so little light in the hold the redhead’s eyesight and hearing were stretched to their fullest. She heard whispers and giggles and shuffling feet in the dark but as soon as she lashed out at them they were gone and her fists hit only air.

A fist flew out of the dark and hit her hard in the ribs making her gasp but she spared no time in trying to recover but leapt forward ramming into another figure in the dark and both went flying to lower deck, Willow sprawled on top of the other. Willow felt the body beneath her wriggling in an attempt to escape. She caught the faintest of glimpses, a flash of gold hair in the thin beam of sun that shone in through the slats of the ships timbers and grabbed at it snatching at thick tresses.

“Where d’ya think yer goin’?” she snarled at the struggling figure beneath her. Willow raised her fist ready to strike her unseen opponent but as she went to punch whoever it was they rolled their head to the side so her clenched fist hit the wooden floor making her cry out in pain. The redhead pirate kept a hold of the others hair to try and prevent their escape but strong arms grabbed a hold of her and the two began to tussle, Willow trying to stay atop her foe who was attempting to throw her off. The two grappled furiously in the dark and her foe eventually threw Willow off but instead of taking advantage of the moment to hit back at Willow the figure started to dart back into the shadows and Willow took off after her.

“Oh no ya don’t,” she growled and spotted a bare back punched at it making the other person almost stumble but they recovered themselves and turned to face Willow.

“Stay back, this cunt is mine,” Willow heard a young woman’s voice say before the other figure came forward and smacked her in the face. Willow was no stranger to fist fights and didn’t hesitate in throwing a punch back at her assailant. Her fist struck at what she quickly realised was bare flesh as she connected with a firmly muscled abdomen. Willow didn’t have much time to pause for thought though as her opponent gave her a savage backhander that sent the redhead reeling against the bulkhead. Next thing her foe was ramming into Willow own toned torso repeatedly.

To combat this attack Willow balled her fists together and struck at her foes back until they backed off then Willow, whose eyesight was now becoming more accustomed to the dark of the hold let fly with a slew of punches at her enemy’s face and body.

Her foe fought back and they crashed backwards into the crap and vomit stained deck crashing over and over as they wrestled together. Willow wanted to throw up herself being this close to the poisonous aroma coming from her surroundings.

Strong as she was the choking smell overwhelmed Willow and her assailant finally rolled her onto her back and began to beat at her face repeatedly. While the redhead tried to fight off the pummelling with one hand she slid a hand down to her boot and bought out a slim blade which she quickly put to her foes throat.

“Now mebbe ya wanna put yer fists down before I gets nasty,” she snarled at the other figure who hesitated and drew back as soon as they felt the sharpened metal against their skin.

“Buffy, are you alright?” the young female’s voice was quiet and small. There was the sound of flint against flint and a spark as a small piece of cloth caught aflame which cast a small light in the darkened chamber. That light grew wider as the flaming cloth was dropped into a small lamp full of oil banishing the dark and revealing what lay in the hold.

At first Willow blinked as her eyes grew more accustomed to the light but when she could see clearly what she perceived shocked the girl to her core.

Being a pirate she had seen many horrific sights in her time but what she now bore witness too left her speechless. At least thirty girls, some younger, some older were chained to each other by a thick metal chain that was affixed to the bulwark of the vessel via a series of equally thick metal hoops that the chain ran through allowing the prisoners a minimum amount of freedom whilst not giving any of the girls a chance to escape.

Somehow though the girl she had just been fighting, the one who appeared to be known as Buffy, had been able to release the thick metal hoop holding her to the bulwark and had plainly gotten hold of something to undo the chain cuffing her enabling a certain amount of freedom. But with the slave masters in charge and she all alone Buffy would not have been able to stay free for long and it was quite obvious that she would never leave if it meant the others had to stay.

Each girl was dressed in rags and covered in the filth, grime and detritus that covered the floor bloody welts and bruises covered some of them and they all shared the same look of fear as if they were a family of rats that had been discovered, which considering their appearance wouldn’t be too far from the truth.

Taking everything in around her Willow realised that she was aboard a slaver vessel. Unlike other pirates who would take anything of value slavers primarily dealt in people. That’s not to say that they didn’t appreciate gold or any other valuables but people were a resource like no other. Sorcerers, both light and dark, could always use the blood of a virgin and virgins were a rare commodity so if they had their own all the better. Kings and lords and emperors always needed fresh blood to fill out their harems and to add to their serving staff when they felt the need to execute servants. The most precious source of virginal blood though came from babies and infants for, having not yet been corrupted by the ways of the world, their blood and soul was the most pure and innocent and could provide the greatest power for a spell. And there were plenty of people unscrupulous enough to steal young children if they were so desired because of their high value.

“Buffy?” the hesitant voice came again and this time Willow turned to face its source. A young girl stood there, a little smaller than Willow with long, light brown hair a mess of rat tails glued together with the grime. She was pale as all the girls were. Her eyes shone blue in the light as she gazed to a taller girl with equally begrimed blonde hair that came down to her shoulders. A slim toned body that was definitely the worse for wear with more than a few ribs poking through her skin and a grimly determined face. Without turning her gaze away from Willow the blonde spoke quietly but firmly.

“Don’t worry Dawn, I’m alright, there’s nothing to worry about. Just stay back from this shit here.”

It was only now that the blonde girl, apparently named Buffy, looked in the direction of the younger girl to ensure that she moved back to the rest of the girls. As she did so several of the bigger girls moved as close to Buffy as they were possibly able. Willow seeing as she was outnumbered by the girls there slowly stood and re-sheathed her stiletto knife.

One of the girls, tall with skin the colour of mocha, licked her lips and stared at Willow with ravenous eyes.

“D’ya think Buffy that mebbe we could eat her. She’d provide a fair bit o meat fer us?”

Willow’s eyes widened in fear upon hearing that she was being considered dinner for these slaves. Buffy, meanwhile, was observing the smaller redhead seeing something there that it appeared no one else could.

“No, no one touches her; I think she can help us.” There was a growl of discontent from behind and Buffy turned to the group of manacled slaves with a look of raw anger on her face. “I said no and anyone who touches her can answer to me,” with that she turned back to the now dishevelled redhead.

“I’m Buffy but I guess you know that,” she said briskly to Willow in no nonsense tone of voice. “You are?” It took Willow several seconds to realise that it was a question directed at her it wasn’t until Buffy poked her in the chest with a hurry up look on her face.

“I is Willow, me friends call me Red,” to emphasise this point Willow hesitantly put her hand out for Buffy to shake however the blonde studiously ignored it.

“We’re prisoners on this ship; they’re taking us to Port Blacksand in Sindara and sell us in the slave markets. Can you help us escape?”

Willow took in the sight before her and quickly realised that there was no way that Bloody would ever let the chance to make more gold go. Or pass up the opportunity to torture some of the girls just for the pleasure he would get out of it. There was only one thing that she could come up with in that instant.

“Me Capn’s a real cunt so he won’t help you but there mebbe summat I can do but ya all needs ta stay real quiet. If ya make the slightest noise yer fucked ya got me?”

“What’s your plan, because I don’t plan to leave any of these girls behind and definitely not Dawn, she’s my sister; the only family I have and by Karakka I’ll be damned before I leave her?”

The young pirate looked the blonde direct in her hazel eyes and saw the determination there to do whatever it took to secure freedom for herself and her companions and knew she could rely on Buffy.

“I is gonna steal the ship and yer all gonna be me crew but I gotta tell me Cap’n there’s nowt down here tha’s why ya gotta be all quiet like. If he suspects there’s someone down here he’ll come an’ look fer himself. Once he’s sure there’s nuffin’ else to get he’ll go back to his own vessel, leavin’ one of his own in charge of this. I’ll make sure that’s me. Tonight I’ll slice the ropes connecting the two ships and we’ll float away. Hopefully tomorrow we’ll be a long way from here.”

Buffy nodded her understanding of the idea but added a warning of her own.

“If you trick us on this, if you tell your Captain anything about us, I swear I will tear your beating heart from your chest with my fingers and eat it.”

Willow swallowed at this nervously at this seeing how much Buffy meant every word she said.

“I ain’t gonna tell no one nuffin’, ye have me word,” she vowed to the collected group before her. “Now I’m going back up top, put that lamp out so no will see and stay quiet.” And with that she turned on her heel and headed back up the passageway and the steps that led to the top deck noticing the lack of screams which, she assumed, meant that the Captain of this merchant’s ship had died.

Chapter 29
(When Willow Met Buffy part two)
********************************************************
Willow wearily made her way back up the wooden steps exhausted by the fight she just had with Buffy as well as being tense over what she was going to say to Cap’n Bloody. She paused on one of the last few steps before going up and outside to gather herself together. Once ready she continued to the top deck. Outside the bright sun blinded Willow after having been down in the gloom of the hold but after blinking a few times her eyes became adjusted to the light and she took a look about herself. She saw that most of the bodies from the deck battle had been removed, most likely tossed overboard providing the sharks with some fresh meat.

Around her some of the crew members started to howl in delight and cheer making the girl look about her in confusion until she realised her shirt was still open, her lithe toned body on show for all to see, including her breasts.

“Wha’,” she yelled at the gathered, horny, sailors pissed off at their leers. “Ain’t ya never seen tits afore?” This outburst just brought a bout a fresh burst of cheers now accompanied by laughter and she just spat at the nearest one in disgust then slowly the cheers died down and there were more than a few audible gulps.

“Where ya been Red, I’ve not seen ya on the deck for sometime now?” The voice was cold and threatening as if just the words alone could kill. Willow took in some deep breaths before turning to face Captain William Bloody.

At six foot seven he was far taller than most people including Willow and he liked to use his height to impose and intimidate smaller people like the redhead. What he didn’t realise was that Willow just pretended to be nervous of him but saw him as little more than a preening peacock with his bright blonde hair brushed back revealing his high brow and his propensity for wearing silk shirts and long leather duster coats, leather trousers and thigh length leather boots. Willow had never been scared of him, even with his fearsome reputation she just laughed at him. She was just smart enough not to do it to his face or of those close to him.

No one spoke; everyone knew that you never interrupted Captain Bloody when he was talking to someone, unless you didn’t enjoy living that is. The silence on the deck was only interrupted by the water slapping against the side of the ship. At this point they were too far out to sea for even birds to be around so there was no cawing from gulls or albatross’. The additional silence just served to make Willow even tenserthan she already was and she curled her toes in her boots to channel her apprehension.

“I was down in the hold while you were busy,” she replied in a calm voice though her heart was hammering away in her chest hoping he wouldn’t notice the tremor of nervousness in her voice or that any of the girls led by Buffy wouldn’t make any noise. Her whole plan revolved around convincing the pirate Captain that there was nothing of any value on board.

“I went down ta see if there were owt o’ value but I couldn’t see nuffin down there. I reckons it had nowt o’ any importance there, it coulda been going ta coast ta pick summat up.”

Bloody just looked at Willow as if trying to work out if she was lying to him or not. As he gazed upon her he took in her bedraggled state seeing all the filth and grime on Willow’s bare chest and clothes.

“If there’s nothing down there why do you look like you’ve been playing on a shit farm?”

“I slipped, seems like the whole area were used fer a shit hole. Nowt but piss, shit an’ vomit down there.”

Again the impassive stare, as if her were a human lie detector testing to see if Willow was telling him the truth or not. Once he appeared to be satisfied with that answer he asked a fresh question.

“And the bruises Red, howd’ya get the bruises?”

“It were slippy down in the hold, I slipped in the shit a few times an’ knocked meself up a coupl’a times, that’s all.” She stared him right in the face as if daring Bloody to challenge her replies, to call her a liar. The staring contest continued for several minutes, neither one backing down. Finally a smirk appeared on Bloody’s face, a cruel twisted sneering gash of a grin that curved up his cheek.

“Go clean yerself and get some fresh clothes Red, ya smell like a shit farmer,” he said disparagingly. Happy that he appeared to have believed her story, Willow went back to the Reaper to clean herself of the grime that she was now caked in and prepare herself for that night’s adventure.
*********************************************************

Two hours later and a cleaner, less smelly Willow swung back over to Reaper ready to set up the next part of the plan.

“Cap’n,” she called out to Bloody who by now had divested himself of his long leather coat and was now checking over the ship for signs of wear and tear, estimating in his head how many hundreds of gold pieces he would be getting for it. As he heard his name being called he looked up from where he was inspecting the cannons.

“What is it Red?” He said curtly, annoyed at being disturbed from what he was doing.

“Yer planning as takin’ this ship as booty right, well I wanna be the one ta command her when ya takes her to Tortuga.”

He narrowed his eyes at the small redhead as if suspecting that something was wrong. Again Willow felt herself almost tensing up but took some calming breaths and prepared herself for another interrogation.

“What makes ya think I should let ya command her? I got plenty of men who are good sailors and navigators that I can trust wi’ this ship so why should I let ya have command?”

“That may be so, but can ya trust any of em not ta steal yer ship away in the night?”

This was a total gamble on Willow’s part but from the frown on Bloody’s face it appeared to be paying off as he seemed to be pondering the idea of one of his crew stealing from him. Normally he would say no considering it a crazy notion; that everyone was far too scared of him to dare take what he considered his property, regardless of whether it was his or not. Apparently he agreed with Willow’s suggestion that someone could steal his new treasure from him but the next words from his mouth shocked her.

“Woode,” he called out and a huge bald man with skin the colour of ebony who seemed to be made of muscle crossed the deck to where Willow and Bloody stood. His biceps bulged like small cannonballs while sweat ran down his well muscled, battle scarred, blood streaked body. He had a goatee which was normally well groomed but was currently mussed up due to streaks of blood and sweat which ran in rivulets down his face. Woode was not what could be called handsome by any means. He had a hard face with a broken nose and his dark brown eyes had a hint of cruel malice to them.

“What is it Captain?” he asked in a deep baritone, chocolate brown eyes focused with distrust on Willow. Woode had a deep distrust of women who wished to become pirates as he considered women to be little more than home-maker’s, whores or serving wenches. He was forward looking that way.

“Woode, I’m putting you in command of this vessel,” said Bloody in the grand voice he used when he wanted to appear impressive to others which usually worked. “I want you to stay in command of this ship all the way back to Tortuga. I trust you more than any of these other bastards I have to call a crew. Ya take anyone ya want ta help ya and ya just follow me all the way ta Tortuga, once we get there I’ll sell it an ya get a quarter of the gold from the sale of it.”

Woode nodded his understanding at this and quickly bellowed out the names of the few people he wanted with him to help run the ship. A helmsman, navigator, two to deal with the sails, two to clean out the bowels of the ship and one to cook filled out his crew.

“Ya sure ya don’t need no one else?” Willow asked hoping that there may be some task that she would be needed for, even if it meant allowing one of the men access to her most intimate body parts. Woode just looked at her as if she were a fly covered turd before turning away from her dismissively.

Knowing there was nothing more she could do at the moment Willow returned again to the Reaper to quickly try and formulate some scheme to help Buffy just as she had promised. Once aboard the Reaper she sought out Xander and, after telling him about her meeting with Buffy in the ships hold started to plot with him.
*****************************************************
It was midnight and the crews on both ships were fast asleep, only the watches were wide awake keeping an eye out for any other vessels or naval patrols that may recognise the ship of Captain William Bloody. Two dark shadows emerged silently from the hold of the Reaper and stealthily made their way to the port side of the galleon where they started to slice through the grappling-hook ropes. Slowly the two ships started to drift apart and it wasn’t long before the two shadows made sure they were on the captured ship.

The two figures each picked up a belaying pin and quickly but furtively went round the ship, proceeding to knock out the three men on watch covering the mouths so they didn’t cry out and raise the alarm on the Reaper. Once they had all been knocked out the duo carried them to the aft of the ship, weighed them down with two belaying pins each and threw them overboard.

“Right Xan, I is gonna go down below and free the girls. Can you take the helm an’ turn her?” Willow whispered to her companion.

“Aye sure I can but we’ll need someone up here fast so that we can free the sails and really get away.”

“Jest leave me ta worry about that, ya just steer us away from that bastard an’ his ship. Xander nodded and made his way to helm where he began turning the ship toward starboard where it was least likely to crash into the Reaper.

Down in the hold Willow made her way carefully along the corridor. She stepped cautiously along the passageway when her boot pressed against something and she heard a slight tinkling crack and realised that the lantern that she had dropped earlier during her fight with Buffy hadn’t been removed.

“Buffy, Buffy are ya there?” she said in as loud a voice as she dared hoping the tough little blonde she had fought earlier would be ready and waiting for her.

A lamp was suddenly shone in her face making the redhead shield her eyes from the glare.

“Aye, I’m here. You’re here to keep your promise I take it?” Buffy glared at Willow as if she were daring her to break her oath.

“Aye, I promised ya I would now drop the attitude ya stuck up little bitch.” Willow said in a gruff manner not wanting to take any crap from anyone right now. If this Buffy wanted another fight later she would be only to happy to oblige and teach the blonde some manners with her fists but for now there were more important things to be done.

“Here, free the others an’ get em up top so we can get the sails down,” she said tossing the keys which she had been able to purloin from the former captain earlier when no one had been watching.

Buffy went to the where the main lock was fitted on the chain preventing escape and within a couple of seconds the girls who were going to be sold as slaves were free once more. They jumped and ran and danced about yelling, screaming and crying with joy at the first feeling of liberation in many a month.

“God’s shut them up can’t ya,” Willow hissed at Buffy. “If the other ship’s company hears em then we’ll all be slaves and I ain’t gonna be nobody’s slave,” she finished grimly. Buffy nodded and told the other girls to lessen their noise telling them that there would be time for celebration later, first they actually had to get free from their captors.

Buffy and Willow had three of the girls upstairs and bade them be quiet about it for fear of retaliation if Bloody realised one of his own was stealing his new prize. The redhead then followed them to the deck to see how things were progressing. When she got there she could see things were developing badly.

None of the girls had any idea on how to get the sails down while Xander was fighting someone but she couldn’t see who. Willow crept closer and discovered that her friend was struggling with Woode. He must have been aboard and sleeping in one of the officers berths, how could she have been so stupid as to forget him. The two men were fighting furiously, exchanging punches and grappling but it was plain that Woode was going to kill Xander, and soon unless she did something about it.

Seeing that Woode had Xander over the guardrail in an attempt to break his back, Willow snuck up behind the big man who was nearly invisible in the dark of the night and plunged her boot dagger into his back. He let out an annoyed grunt and looked over his shoulder to see the source of this new irritation. Spotting the redhead, without letting go of Xander, Woode raised a booted foot and slammed it firmly in the middle of Willow’s chest. She found herself being propelled at full steam across the deck where she came to rest against the other guardrail.

She was about to make another attempt when a third figure entered the fray. The new participant leaped onto Woode’s back and drew a blade across his throat. He released Xander who grasped hold of the guardrail to stop himself from falling to the deck while Woode was doing just that. Collapsing slowly to his knees, not able to say a word, only gurgle as blood filled his windpipe. He tried to stem the flow by holding his hand to his throat but to no avail and he was dead as soon as he hit the deck, his body coated in thick, wet blood. Willow looked and saw that Buffy held a bloodied cutlass in her hand. She gave a slight, curt nod of the head to Willow who responded in kind, recognising it for what it was a sign that there was no debt between them. Neither owed the other anything. All they needed now was some freedom.

Aboard the Reaper there was the first faintest awareness that something was going on the other ship and lamps were being lit. Someone called across asking if all was well and Xander replied that all was well while Willow aided the girls in getting the sails down while her male friend distracted the other watch officers. It wasn’t long before the guy ropes securing the two craft together were severed and the boat began to turn away from the Reaper, their hulls nudging as it turned.

Unfortunately that nudging rocked Bloody’s ship enough that crew members sleeping in their hammocks below decks were suddenly pitched out of their makeshift rope beds landing heavily on the hard wooden timbers of the ship and complaining loudly as they got up again. That same nudging had also tossed Bloody out of his own bed where he had been busy with one of the girls that he kept as his own personal harem on the ship.

“What the bloody hell,” he swore as he picked himself up from the floor and looked around, more than a little perturbed by the incident. Quickly he hauled on his leather britches and headed for the
main deck of his galley not bothering with any shirts.

“What the fuckin’ hell is going on here,” he yelled out to the assembled members of his crew who were gazing out over the side of the ship towards where the captured vessel was starting to sail away, a couple of the sails down and already catching the breeze. Cap’n Bloody was shocked to see his latest prize was sailing away from him and no one appeared to be doing anything to stop it.

“Cap’n, the ship’s being taken from us. I called out ta Woode but there’s no response and Cap’n...there’s no sign of Red or her friend on the ship. I reckons as how she’s the one taking it.”

“So would you kindly tell me why the fuck you’re standing there telling me all this and not trying to stop em ya fucking moron,” Bloody snarled at the crew-man.

“We didn’ dare ta fire on em Cap’n cos we thought ya still wanted ta take it in ta Tortuga.”

“Fuck Tortuga, blow the fuckers out if the water,” and so saying he went to where a small cannon stood against the mast and pushed it to the stern of the ship checking that the cannon was loaded he sliced the wick so that it wasn’t as long as before and set it alight. A few seconds later the cannon fired out its deadly load in the direction of Willow’s new ship but by now the vessel was so far out the metal ball fell with a splash into the water. Thinking, Bloody quickly decided what to do next.

“Raise the sails, they can’t get far if there’s only two of em running the ship,” he growled and stared at the image of the receding ship before going back to his cabin to get a shirt. When he got back he discovered that the sails still weren’t raised.

“What the fuck are you shit heads arseing about at???? Get those bloody sails up and get em up now.” No one spoke but two of the crew raised a small part of one of the sails. It was full of slashes where blades had cut through it, Bloody’s eyes opened wide, his hands balled into fists so hard that his nails broke the skin in the palm of his hands and his teeth clenched. Bloody’s musculature clenched all over his body like a bare knuckle fighter about to step into the ring. He turned and ran to the stern of the Reaper as he vented a rage terrible to behold.

“YOU FUCKING BITCH,” he roared out in the direction of the escaping ship. “YOU BITCH, YA THINK YOU CAN STEAL MY SHIP AN’ GET AWAY WITH IT? I’LL FIND YOU ONE DAY AND I’LL FUCKING KILL YOU YA HEAR ME? I’LL RIP YER HEART OUT AN’ EAT IT AN’ WHAT’S LEFT I’LL FORCE DOWN YER THROAT YA LITTLE CUNT SUCKER. COME BACK HERE YOU BITCH.”

As Willow’s new prize sailed off into the darkness Bloody’s words could be heard chasing her across the waters and she smirked as she heard his rant. For now she had a ship of her own and a crew to help sail it. She turned at the sound of booted feet approaching her. It was Buffy, now dressed in a shirt though bruises still showed from where they had fought earlier.

“Summat I can do fer yer’s?” the redhead asked in a lazy drawl hoping it would infuriate the blonde.

“Aye, I want to know where you plan on taking us?” Buffy asked looking seriously at Willow who merely shrugged her shoulders.

“Anywhere ya likes. If girls wanna go home I’ll take em an’ if they wanna stay they’re welcome.”

“And I have your word on that?” Buffy asked suspiciously her hands on her hips.

“I’ll give ya better than that,” Willow replied and reached in to the boot sheath to remove her knife. Buffy started at this, raising her fists ready for another fight but Willow merely clenched the knife blade in her hand, her green eyes locking with the blonde’s hazel ones as she let the cold metal slice into her skin. Droplets of blood spattered on to the deck between the two girls before Willow unclenched her fist with a wince as she acknowledged the painful sting from the blood oath she just took.

“There, ya have my blood oath. Yer happy now?”

Buffy looked at her shocked for a moment before giving the redhead a wry smile.

“You didn’t have to do all that you know. Your word would have been good enough.”

Willow just stared at her. “Now ya tell us,” she said before a big grin spread across her face. Within seconds the two were laughing like old friends until Willow’s self inflicted knife wound made her wince again.

“Ooh fuck that hurts,” she complained and Buffy looked at her with compassion and put an arm round her shoulders.

“Come on, let’s get that wound seen too,” she said as she lead the redhead towards the captains cabin. As they made their way to the cabins a young girl hurried towards them falling into step as she reached the duo. Willow studied her noticing her long brown hair, wide eyes, the simple dress she wore that left her arms and legs bare below the knee. Taking in her looks Willow reckoned she couldn’t be more than fifteen years old but already very attractive. It then struck her that the girl would have wound up being sold in some slave market somewhere to satisfy the lustful urges of some old, fat, rich man who couldn’t stand sleeping with his wife any longer and wanted to trade her in for someone younger, more attractive, more vulnerable. Realising this made Willow feel happy inside. For once she had done something good.

“Buffy, are we going home now?”

“I’m sorry Dawn,” Buffy replied as she put her other arm round the younger girl’s shoulders. “I don’t think we can go home, or at least not now anyway. Here I want you to meet someone, Dawn this is Willow who rescued us. She’s our new friend, Willow, this is my sister Dawn.”

PRESENT

“S...so you’re first meeting with Buffy was in a fight?” Tara enquired surprised at this after having seen the close friendship that the two girls had.

“Aye Tare, that’s how we met but it were a damn good scrap,” the redhead replied with a big grin on her face. “Course once we got ta know each other all proper like things went nice ‘tween us and she became me right hand woman.”

“Hey I thought I was yer right hand woman...I mean,” started Xander only to fall silent as he was surrounded by mocking laughter from the girls surrounding him. Even Willow and Tara couldn’t withhold their mirth. Eventually Willow, between snorts of laughter, was able to speak again.

“Xan me old mate, ya may not be me right hand woman,” again more laughter making the dark haired young man sigh deeply as he realised that he was not going to hear the end of this any time soon. “Xan, ye are me left hand man though and I couldn’t wish fer a better one.”

“I reckons as how I can live with that,” he said grinning broadly at her.

Willow stood up and linking her fingers together straightened her spine by stretching backwards. She let out a small groan as her stiff, aching muscles and bones cracked as her body parts reset themselves back into their proper places. This inadvertently revealed an inch or two of her toned abdomen which made Tara’s eye’s open wide while their blue shade darkened lustfully. Everyone else was either finishing their drinks off or telling their neighbours about the first time they met Cap’n Red.

Finally the pirate queen tapped out her pipe against a log on the fire then yawned and stretched, tired after a long day and gave out her last orders for the day.

“A’right yer lazy bunch o’ landlubbers, we set sail again t’morrer. I reckons as how ye’ve had enough time off so we be setting sail at the noon tide that we can get all our stuff aboard. We still has a fair distance ta go till we reach Verminas so everyone make sure they get a good night’s rest. She then helped Tara up and they went over to their blanket and settled down for the night arms wrapped round each other.

Chapter 30
Snuggles
********************************************************

After spending the following morning getting everything on board including freshwater and meat in the form of fresh boar after Katarina had led several girls to a nest of five children and their parents which had been swiftly slaughtered and back to the now dismantled camp. Once Tara had seen the dead pigs she had fallen to her knees and, with a lowered head, began to murmur quietly under her breath earning herself strange looks from the other girls. When Tara had finished her prayers and saw everyone looking at her she explained that she was giving thanks to Honadel, the sun goddess, for providing them with food. The crew members shared glances with each other but a glare from the Captain prevented anyone from saying anything.

Now they were back at sea and Tara was watching the sunset from the deck of the Slayer with an ever vigilant Dawn by her side. The sky had darkened from a blaze of orange and rose and red to the gunmetal and lavender of twilight.

Goddess, but I’ve never seen anything so beautiful, she thought as she took in the sight of the sun sinking and giving way to the darkest, deepest shade of blue it was possible to imagine. So dark it was almost black while the stars gleamed in the sky as if someone had punctured little holes in it to allow the glow from the Golden Palace through. She heard a noise and turned to see Dawn trying to cover up a big yawn by placing her hand in front of her mouth and acting as if she had just belched.

“Not tired are you Dawn?” she asked with a small gentle smile.

“A little,” the stowaway guard admitted as she struggled to keep her eyes open.

“C’mon then,” the blonde said as she started to yawn and turned and headed toward the cabins with Dawn at her side just about keeping her eyes open.
*************************************************

It was much later in the evening and Tara lay on her side in the bed in Willow’s cabin.

No, not Willow’s, ours she corrected herself.

She felt a warm, strong arm wrap itself around her waist then soft lips begin to caress her side working their way up from the hips to the smooth roundness of her shoulder. She could feel the redheads hardened nipples burning a trail along the silky feel of her back making her sigh with a quiet ecstasy that only came from Willow making love to her.

“You’re beautiful,” the redhead sighed quietly to her lover as she kissed the witch’s shoulders.

“You always say that about me, that I’m beautiful.” Though Willow couldn’t see it Tara dipped her head slightly, partly out of shyness partly out of embarrassment for she was just plain old Tara, she was nothing special.

“That’s because you are,” the pirate told her in a soft voice that caressed her cheek. “You are my beautiful witchy poo,” she said and they giggled at her words. Tara rolled onto her back and gazed in to the forest green eyes of her pirate lover who lay half on top of her, unconsciously licking her lips as she took in the blonde’s naked body.

“God’s but I loves ya Tare,” Willow breathed softly against Tara’s lips before kissing them firmly.
As she did so Willow’s free hand was used to explore the girl’s body, stroking tenderly over the flesh. She caressed the arms, the sides all the way down to the thighs then back pausing to caress the blonde’s soft stomach before moving to favourite part of Tara’s body.

Tara moaned as their breasts squeezed together, nipples brushing against each other. Her hands went down to Willow’s tight buttocks squeezing them making the redhead thrust her hips up against Tara’s thigh, lust boiling in her blood.

Willow’s tongue licked delicately at the blonde’s lips, stroking them gently like a paintbrush on paper. Tara felt the tongue tickling at her lips making her moan slightly, a gentle purring rumble from deep within her chest. The moan became more pronounced as Willow’s lips pulled away from hers and slowly Tara let her own tongue slip out to meet its mate and the two twined together sinuously before Willow took Tara’s between her lips and sucked on it, loving the taste of the blonde witch.

Tara moaned deeply into the kiss, her body arching in exquisite pleasure to the strong calloused hand of the pirate stroking, cupping, pinching, and squeezing her flesh. Willow nipped gently on Tara's bottom lip as she stroked over the full breast, finally pinching and gently twisting the hardened nipple, watching the pleasure crossing Tara's face and dark blue eyes looking at her with bedroom eyes. Smirking as she more felt the rumbling moan coming from Tara than heard it. Releasing the swollen lip, Willow laved it with her tongue. Gently squeezing Tara's breast, Willow began to kiss and lick her way down the slender, white column of Tara's neck, moaning as she laps at the little gathering of perspiration in the hollow, having to admit that the young witch tastes wonderful, earthy and lightly salty. Trailing her fingers down Tara's rib cage and slowly playing across the soft flesh of her abdomen, Willow worked her mouth slowly down Tara's chest, a soft whimper escaping her throat as her lips encountered the crinkled areola surrounding the hard rosy nipple.

As Willow’s hand moved further down Tara’s body she buried her face in the blonde’s bosom as she came to soft damp curls and knew her target would soon be reached. She worked her way down and found the willing flesh, hot...wet...so wet and just waiting for her slender fingers.

“Oh goddess Willow,” Tara gasped out as Willow’s ministrations were driving her into a frenzy. Her hands wrapped around Willow’s strong back and tipped her head back revealing her long creamy neck. As Willow nibbled on the blonde’s hardened nipple Tara bought her hands further up her lover’s body till she was grasping the shoulders and dug her nails in.

She needed to speak, to say something but the way that Willow was touching her sending tingles all through her body made it so hard. Finally she was able to grunt out, “no,” but Willow was as caught up in the experience as Tara herself was. The blonde repeated the word but her lover did not appear to hear her so she decided to take matters into her own hands, literally. By pushing at the redhead’s shoulders she forced Willow off of her body leaving her slightly stunned.

Willow looked away unsuccessfully trying to hide the palpable hurt she felt by the unexpected move Tara had made.

“W...what is it Tara, I wasn’t hurting ya was I?” The hurt in her voice was unmistakable and Tara hated herself for making her pirate lover feel bad even though she had done nothing wrong. The blonde witch saw all the sadness deep in those beautiful green eyes and her heart went out to Willow all over again and she determined to assuage the guilt that she knew her lover would be feeling out of fear she had hurt Tara.

Tara reached out and gently stroked Willow’s arm from the elbow down to the wrist and back loving how soft and warm the skin was. She wished they could do this all day every day, lay in bed and talk and kiss and make passionate love and hold each other. But she realised that Willow was needed in the day to day running of the Slayer now perhaps more than ever as they were on the last stretch to the isle of Verminas, the dead man’s island.

As Tara spoke to reassure the other girl she continually stroked her lover’s bare arm. “N...no Willow you didn’t do anything wrong. In fact everything you did was right, perhaps a little too right,” she said with a grin as she recalled how hard it was to push Willow off her. “It’s just that I...well I...,” Tara stopped as she tried to work out how to word what she wanted to say to the vivacious redhead who lay beside her gazing at her with equal measures of lust and interest in what she wanted to say.

Willow finally looked up and took the blonde’s free hand in her own to comfort her, “Whate’er it is Tara ya can tell us,” she said her usually rough voice surprisingly soothing.

“W...Willow, I...I want to pl...pl...pleasure you as y...you have me.” Tara finally said her voice little more than a nervous whisper as she wondered if she could ever give the same amount of love as the redhead had given to her.

Willow’s eyebrows shot up in surprise and she turned to Tara.

“Ya do? Wi’ me?”

“Y...yes, but.” She paused for a moment as she attempted to gather her thoughts. “Willow, I do want to pleasure you but I have never been with anyone before a...and I want to...to be...to do it right. To make you happy.”

Willow leaned up to take a better look at Tara and saw the fear and worry in her eyes but also the wanting, the need to please the girl who had rescued her from a life of drudgery and had shown her love for the first time in her life.

“Its a’right, whatever ya wants ta do I trusts ya,” Willow said softly, a gentle smile gracing her lips.

“B...but I’ve n...never...” Tara didn’t get to finish her sentence as her lover pressed a soft, calloused finger against her lips.

“I trusts ya,” the redhead said, nothing but faith and belief in her eyes. She saw that Tara was still hesitant so she rolled off the witch pulling Tara on top of her.

Tara gazed down at her loves gorgeous, freckle patterned torso, the toned, battle scarred body, the Strong arms she loved to feel around her, the taut, muscular abdomen; the tight belly-button; those perfect breasts with pink nipples hardening under the blonde’s ogling eyes. Everything about Willow was just so beautiful to the witch and as she ogled Willow’s body a throb started between her legs. All Tara knew was that she wanted the pirate and she wanted her now.

She slowly lowered her head toward Willow’s who equally raised her head toward Tara’s and within seconds the two young women were kissing. Tara glided her tongue softly around the redhead’s lips, tasting and touching but not urging her to separate her lips or forcing itself inside. It wasn’t long before heat began to rise in their bodies. Their carnal natures overcame them and they began to kiss deeply with an erotic hunger. Willow wrapped her hands in Tara’s long blonde hair and pulled her lover closer moaning slightly before she dropped her hands to the blonde’s back, caressing and rubbing until they met her curvy ass, cupping the cheeks firmly.

Her fingertips dug into the spongy flesh as a series of moans left her mouth and answering ones met her ears. She could feel herself getting more and more aroused with each moment as her wetness started to build. Already Willow was bucking her body in an attempt to get some friction for her throbbing centre by rubbing it against Tara’s thigh.

Tara's earlier anxiousness had dissipated over the course of their conversation, but when she felt Willow's body against hers it came back, magnified both in scale and intensity. Unlike her previous nervousness, which had been largely the result of fear, the current of adrenaline now coursing through her was entirely fuelled by desire.

As they kissed Tara used one of her hands to slide down Willow’s body. She felt the smooth, powerful muscles beneath Willow’s sleek, bronzed skin and rougher areas where her body was battle scarred. She paused as she came to the small fleshy globe that was Willow’s breast and began to cup, stroke and squeeze the tender flesh getting an even deeper moan from the pirate.

Willow’s skin tasted hot and spicy to Tara’s lips with a fruity undercurrent. It put her in mind of the fire apples of Kakistos, which were a rare commodity, only afforded by the very wealthy and reputed to have aphrodisiacal qualities. But the only aphrodisiac Tara needed was holding her lover close as she played with her breasts.

It wasn’t long before Tara arrived at Willow’s breast. Tara raised herself from her lover’s body and gazed down at it lustfully. She eyed the small breasts unconsciously licking her lips before kissing the warm skin but keeping away from the small pink nipples. As she kissed round the bases of Willow’s boobs Tara heard the erotic moans coming from the smaller girl and looked up to make sure she wasn’t hurting her love. All she saw however was a blissful smile on her face while the green eyes were half shut in ecstasy.

Willow was exulting at the gentle touch of her love. The way Tara stroked her slender body making the muscles in her slight frame ripple and when those slender fingers caressed the wounds that criss-crossed her body it sent shivers of sensual delight through her body. The way that Tara was kissing her and massaging her boobs Willow would never have believed that this was the same shy girl that she had rescued all those months ago. Even when she had first said she wanted to pleasure Willow, Tara had been coy about it but the way she was behaving it was almost as if she had been making love to the redhead all her life.

When Tara turned her attention to Willow's nipples and began to lick and suck them, she felt the strange compulsion to find out what they felt like between her teeth. She nipped Willow's left nipple gently making the redhead buck up into the blonde’s body while letting out a deep sensuous moan. However the moan made panic and she pushed herself off Willow’s body.

“Sorry, I’m so sorry,” Tara replied panicked that she may have inadvertently hurt her love.

“No, no it's fine Tare that usually happens when me tits are given a good nibblin’.” Willow panted out as feeling slowly came back to her hardened, bright pink nipples. She wrapped an arm round the blonde’s long neck and pulled her into long, deep loving kiss, giving Tara a chance to relax and become comfortable again before allowing her to go back to worshipping her body with her lips.

Tara kissed her way back down the chest, this time with more confidence, till again she came to the small but perfect boobs and took one into her mouth, teeth grazing the succulent flesh of the breast until she arrived at the nipple then wrapping her lips around it, began to bat at it with a strong tongue while Willow groaned and sighed with satisfaction.

For the redhead this was a whole new experience. She knew she was an excellent lover having satisfied lots of women in lots of harbours as well as plenty of her own crew. But the way that Tara was making love to her, the way that she gently caressed her body with both lips and hands, her caution and hesitation so that she could ensure that she wasn’t hurting Willow in anyway and was only bringing pleasure to her pirate lover.

Normally her lovers preferred their sex rough and Willow was only to happy to oblige, enjoying the rough sex herself. However it could sometimes turn into a battle for dominance in the bedroom with both parties wanting to be in charge as it were.

Willow held on to Tara’s shoulder in a fierce grip while the other tangled itself into the blonde's thick tresses, holding her in place. The dew between her legs became a puddle as she felt her nipples being pinched and suckled, and she knew she could not hold back her release much longer.

The redhead gasped as the blonde’s soft hands, her long slender fingers came close to her centre which was starting to drip warm liquid down her thigh. Tara dipped a tenuous finger into the warm sticky fluid, brought it up to her nose and sniffed it inquisitively before dabbing it on her tongue and finding to her great surprise that she really liked the taste of Willow.

"Tara... baby, please... touch me," she implored, her breath coming in gasps.

Her other hand caressed down Willow's chest and abdomen, giving the breasts a quick squeeze, her fingers threading through damp red curls before grazing over the redhead's clit. Willow's hips jerked and she buried her face in Tara's neck to suck on the sensitive flesh. As her hand reached the source of her lover's wetness, Tara felt the throb between her own legs growing. Parting Willow's lips, she circled the opening with one fingertip before she slowly pushed it in getting exultant moans from Willow.

"Uhhh... yessss," Willow hissed, crying out as Tara pushed a finger into her. Tara paused to ensure she hadn't hurt the redhead before she began thrusting slowly, adding a second finger when Willow's hips started rocking against her hand. Realizing how close the redhead was, Tara curled her thumb up to rub her lover's clit, which immediately sent Willow bucking further into Tara’s fingers so that they plunged further into her centre. Willow’s body arched and went rigid as she came crying out Tara's name. Willow fell back down; breathing hard, sweat glistening on her skin.

Never had anyone taken her like that before, and especially someone who had never made love to another before like Tara had. Once she got her breath back she rolled onto her side and leaned up resting herself on her forearms. She marvelled again at how beautiful Tara’s body was and knew she had to say what she felt in heart or it would never be said at all.

“Tara, I gots ta tell ya what ya do ta me. Ya make me feel like nuffin else I ever felt before. I don’ ever wanna go on wi’out ya.” Her voice was trembling now, afraid, nervous as to what the blonde’s response would be to what she said next.

“Tara, I love’s ya more than I ever thought I could love anyone. I b’lieve yer the one fer me, me only one so I is askin ya Tara, please be me girl, me only girl an’ I swear, hand on me heart, I’ll love ya forever.”

Now, after having opened up her heart to the blonde, Willow cast her gaze away, to theside and swallowed nervously, licking her dry lips hesitantly, unsure as to what Tara would say. She took a sharp intake of breath as she felt a soft hand caress her chin and raised it so that she gazed into sapphire eyes while a gentle smile greeted her.

“I will be yours Willow, my beautiful Willow I have been in love with you since I first met you. I will be yours, for now and always.”

Willow's eyes slowly drifted over her lover's nude form, finally reconnecting with their blue counterparts, back from their own visual inspection. Beautiful, both women thought as they moved to embrace again, kissing fiercely as they clung to each other.

Dibs!

I like that Willow is different with Tara then with the Crew on the ship and i'm sure Buffy never heard Willow say ''my beautiful witchy poo'' to someone before. And so happy that Willow declared Tara as her girl and the captains women but it will also endanger her life more then it already is.

Great Update can't wait of the next!!!!

Chapter 31

Discovery and Danger
*********************************************************

Tara woke to warm sunlight shining through the porthole on to her face, the brightness making her blink her eyes until they had adjusted to the morning light. She found herself wrapped tightly in Willow’s arms, the pirate captain still gently snoring as she lay sleeping, an arm thrown over Tara’s belly while her head rested on the blonde’s shoulder.

Tara took the time to carefully look at Willow’s face as she lay in a serene slumber. She looked less like a fearsome pirate and more like a young child or a pixie. She gently stroked a finger along the curve of Willow’s ear getting a small giggle from the redhead who tightened her grip on the blonde and murmuring her name softly.

Goddess how beautiful she is, lying there so peacefully, how could I not fall in love with her. she thought as she gazed upon the sight of the snoozing girl. Tara turned her attention to the sun and began a short prayer to her goddess. Oh Honadel please grant your protection to Willow. I love her so much and could not bear it if anything should ever happen to her. Tara’s prayer done she turned her gaze back to the redhead to see a pair of emeralds gazing warmly back at her.

“Morning witchy-poo,” Willow said with a small smile.

“Good morning Willow,” Tara replied warmly as she placed a gentle hand on the other girl’s cheek. “Do you have any plans?”

“Well I kinda had a lil plan of me own,” she replied with a smirk her eyes bright with mischief whilst her hands slowly started to caress the blonde’s naked body making Tara sigh quietly and shiver in delight.

“Oh, and what might that plan be,” Tara asked, barely able to suppress the gasp that Willow was getting from her as those slender talented fingers started to make their way towards her centre.

“Well it involves you, me and...” with those words the redhead pounced making the young witch giggle.
*****************************************************
Two hours later the two girls emerged from the Captain’s cabin and quickly made their way to the galley. Upon entering they saw Dawn and Liana sorting out some food-stuffs for the crew’s breakfast. It was nothing fancy, just bread, cheese, cold meat and fruit while water was available from a barrel on the deck.

The two Slayerette’s turned as they heard the Willow and Tara enter and both had the decency to look more than a little shame-faced as they saw the look of impatience on Dawn’s face, her arms folded across her chest and boot tapping against the wood of the floor.

“So you’ve finally decided to show up have you? I can’t possibly think what kept you,” she said, a sarcastic edge to her voice while Liana smirked at the reddening faces of the two older girls knowing what exactly had kept the twosome.

“Umm...yes sorry Dawn, I shouldn’t have left you to prepare breakfast on your own,” said a very much abashed Tara apologising for both herself and Willow’s late awakening.

Much as she understood the reason why the Captain and her lover were up so late in the morning Dawn couldn’t help but want to tease the girls a little more.

“I don’t know Tara; I think that the Cap’n is being a bad influence on you. I think maybe you should move out of her cabin and move in with me that way I can be sure you’ll be up in time to help me in the future.” Despite the seriousness Willow and Tara both heard the underlying humour in Dawn’s voice and saw the grin tugging at the sides of her mouth and decided to play along with her joke.

“We’re really very sorry Dawn,” said Tara in a very submissive but polite voice. “I didn’t mean to arrive late but Willow detained me in our cabin.”

Dawn raised an eyebrow at this while a smirk tugged at the side of her mouth while she turned her attention to the redhead. “Did she now, well in that case perhaps Willow wouldn’t mind assisting you Tara in cleaning up and preparing something for tonight, what do you think Liana?”

“I think it would be a very good idea Miss Dawn then the Captain can see how hard we work to make the foods for the crew,” Liana replied as she joined in on the joke.

By now Willow was getting and she crossed her arms and fixed both Dawn and Liana with a steely gimlet eye. “Oh aye, an’ how would Miss Dawn and Miss Liana like to find ‘emselves pitched overboard and havin’ ta swim home? We havta be a good twenty miles from that last Island so ya’d best be good swimmers, I’d hate ta think of the sharks getting ya.” As she said all this a wicked grin spread over Willow’s features.

At the mention of the word ‘sharks’ both girls blanched, Liana so much so that her skin appeared to be ivory instead of its usual ebony colouring, and even Tara turned to stare at her lover, shocked that she could suggest such a thing.

“Umm...well...we could you know...ummm,” began Dawn unsure about what to say as she wasn’t quite sure if Willow was joking or serious, you could never be too sure with the redhead and her fiery temper.

“Ahh go on gerroutofit,” Willow barked at the two girls who were already making a swift retreat for the exit, giving them both a kick up the back-side just to be on the safe side. She chuckled as the two friends ran for the comparative safety of the upper deck only to suddenly stop as she caught Tara looking at her with a raised eyebrow.

“You weren’t seriously considering of throwing Dawn and Liana overboard were you?” she asked, her voice holding a critical tone.

Willow saw the expression on her girls face and knew she could be in trouble. “Wha’ ya don’t think I’m actually gonna throw em overboard do ya?” The redhead looked expectantly at the witch but Tara still had a slight frown marring her usually beautiful features. “Tare, I swear I would ne’er do summat like that ta Dawn,” here she leaned over to whisper conspiratorially in Tara’s ear. “’Sides, if I did Buffy’d prob’ly kill me,” she then gave what she hoped would be a winning grin but still received no positive response from Tara. Instead the blonde just gave a cynical ‘hmmm’ in response before getting herself some fruit and cheese and heading to the deck to eat in the warm sunshine leaving Willow with her thoughts.

*************************************************************

After their breakfast Willow and Tara quickly gathered her two lieutenants, Buffy and Xander, and Dawn and Liana who were practicing their swordsmanship skills.

“Dawn, Liana, come with me now.” Willow barked quickly getting the attention of the two crew-members. She led the two younger girls down to the cabins and halted in front of her own. “Right I’m holding a meeting wi’ Tara, Buffy an’ Xander and I want you two on guard outside. No one comes in with out my say so, got it? Good.” With that the captain entered her cabin, locking the door behind her.

As they stood guard Liana observed Dawn out of the corner of her eye giving the other girls toned body an appreciative look over. Liana appreciated it even more with Dawn’s choice of clothing which was a long piece of red cloth wrapped round her breast several times and tied at the back leaving the rest of her body bare. The rest of her attire was made up of black leather pants with her sword belt tied to them and boots.

Dawn could feel the other girl’s attention on her body and it gave her a slightly uncomfortable feeling. She had not gotten over the death of Simone and nor did she think she ever would. Of all the events that had happened to her since she had stowed away the death of her friend and fellow Slayerette and the first girl that she had fallen for. Deep in her heart Dawn knew that Liana was attracted to her and she herself could tell that the dark skinned girl was very striking but seriously doubted that she could ever let herself love again.
****************************************************

Buffy, Xander and Tara gathered round the desk while Willow recovered the map to Verminas from the desk drawer before offering her chair up to Tara.

“There are some magick users who use chameleon spells on certain maps they own to keep all personal locations secret from rival sorcerers or witches,” here Xander raised his hand.

“Not wanting to sound stupid or anything but what exactly is a chameleon spell?”

“Basically it’s just a spell that hides the true map under a false image that can only be revealed by an incantation uttered by the maps owner or they may use an elemental spell to help reveal it.” Xander just looked dumbly back at Tara and gave an ‘uh-uh’ reply to what she had just said while Buffy and Willow just shared a knowing grin.

“I think the original owner of this map used an elemental spell on it as Willow and myself discovered that when water is poured on the map there is another image beneath it. We only saw a little part of it before but now we’re going to see if we can see anything further beneath the cover map, Willow could you please bring me some water,” she asked in her usual polite manner and for the first time in all the time that Xander and Buffy had known her Willow smiled coyly back at the blonde. She then poured some water from a jug into the washbowl which she then brought over to the table. Tara smiled her thanks before dipping the tips of her fingers into the water and flicking water on to the map.

As the four watched it appeared that the water was just soaking into the aged parchment. Then very slowly, so slow that the observer’s eyes barely noticed them, changes started to occur on the ancient parchment. The drawn on waves started to move on the chart while a splashing sound emanated from the map. As the Captain and her crew watched the splashing became louder while the waves started moving much more visibly.

As she watched Buffy’s attention was drawn to a small illustration on the map. As the waves were progressing to the edges the blonde girl looked more closely and saw the small image of a ship bobbing on the ocean waves. As it moved along Buffy was sure that she could see an even smaller crew of men operating the ship. One was on the tiller, manoeuvring the ship while others were working on the sails, ensuring the boat in the illustration was tacking into the wind.

As she continued to watch Buffy thought she could hear tiny voices that were singing a shanty emanating from the picture of the ship as it slowly, inexorably began making its journey to the edges of the map. She saw the crew doing all they could to prevent the inevitable. The man on the tiller turning the ship as much as he possibly could to get the small craft into safer waters whilst others raised and lowered various sails but all was to no avail. The current had caught a hold of the ship and had started to pull it toward what appeared to be a waterfall that just vanished into nothingness. All the miniature figures got to their knees and began to pray.

Buffy could suddenly smell sea air and felt a violent rocking beneath her feet. As she looked about her she saw that she was on the deck of a ship, however that ship was not the Slayer.

“Will, are you there Willow?” she called out suddenly very nervous. She noticed that her voice had an echo to it which Buffy assumed was because they were at sea. She could hear muttered voices from very close at hand and inched forward to investigate only to see crew members all on their knees praying to their particular god or gods as the case may be.

There was another violent rocking knocking all the men hard to the wooden deck, Buffy only stayed upright because she caught the edge of the deck rail and used that to steady her. The blonde dashed to side of the ship and saw that it was about go over the edge. One of the men, also at the ships side cried out in terror and ran for the stern of the vessel. Buffy yelled at him to stop before he ran into her but it was as if she wasn’t even there. She threw up her hands as if to ward him off only to have the man run through her as if she were just fresh air. It was a very peculiar feeling akin to having a shiver run down your spine and wanting to throw up at the same time.

The ship had started to reach the edge of the chameleon map and was tilting slant-wards as the eddies started to pull it towards oblivion. “Willloooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!” Buffy screamed, terrified as the ship struck the edge and slowly started to vanish, her scream joining with the crews as, inch by inch, the ship began to fade away in to the ether.

Buffy was suddenly roused from her daydream by a hand shaking her shoulder.

“Buffy, are you alright,” came Tara’s soft voice as the blonde girl came back to reality. She looked about herself, startled after her mini escapade in the drawing.

“Uh, yeah I think so. Umm where am I again?” There was something familiar about the cabin and she turned to try and learn what it was.

“Yer in me cabin Buff, are ya well, wha’ happened?” Willow asked concernedly. In all the years that they had known each other Willow had never seen Buffy so panicked or seemingly lost as she did now. She hoped that being so close to Tara wasn’t affecting her friend; she had heard tales of how some people could be hurt by magick because they had some form of allergy to it. She sincerely hoped that her lover wasn’t hurting her friend in some way for she loved them both as dearly as she loved Xander and Dawn. She was just a little more unwilling to let Dawn know that she did care about her otherwise the teasing would be merciless.

Buffy proceeded to tell them all that had happened. About seeing the boat in the map moving then suddenly finding herself on board it, the man running through her and the sudden tilting of the ship as if it had reached the edge of the world and was about to go over the edge and into the ether...possibly.

“it will be the picture,” Tara informed them, “some Chameleon enchantments can be cursed so that the images they show can beguile the person watching and they become a part of them, forced to endure the same things over and over again.”

“You mean that I would have become part of the picture?” Buffy asked, going pale when the blonde witch replied with a nod and she sat down on Willow’s bed as she realised what a close escape she had had.

“Hey what’s that?” said Xander as he indicated to where there appeared to be a different image beneath the ‘moving’ top map. The thee young women looked closer at where their friend was indicating and saw a different chart visible under where the waves had vanished to the edges of the parchment.

This new chart was as animated as the chameleon map was, revealing a stormier sea surrounding a rocky island with images of sea-serpents bobbing in and out of the waves. As Willow, Xander and Tara looked at the new map one of the serpents suddenly appeared to dive out of the map toward the trio making them fall backwards onto the floor. Willow and Xander drew their swords while the creature snapped its fearsome jaws at them, then as Xander slashed at its head with his blade it dispersed in a flood of water which came splashing down and drenching them.

“That is the true map,” Tara declared with more than a little fear in her voice for, whilst she had never even heard of Verminas before until Willow bought her on board the Slayer, but she could sense great power emanating from just the chart alone. The power made her afeared as never before, for now she understood the dark power that was radiating from the now visible isle on the formerly hidden map.
************************************************************

After checking on Buffy and ensuring that she was back to normal after her time in the picture, something that she never wanted to experience again and a lunch of cold parrot meat, cheese, fruit and wine the foursome went topside with Dawn and Liana following. Back up on the deck Willow and Xander worked out the new compass heading for the isle of Verminas while Buffy took charge of the sails so that they were tacking into the wind and, as ever Dawn and Liana kept guard on Tara who sat and chatted with Alex and Laragh while eating her lunch. And Liana also kept watch on her attractive friend.

Dawn, noticing that Tara’s goblet was nearly empty went to the water barrel and filled a small wooden mug with some water. Just as she was about to take it over to the witch she was stopped by a familiar voice.

“Aye Dawn,” the girl turned to see Kat standing there. “We need some help with the sails; can ya give us a hand?”

“I dunno ‘bout that, I have to watch Tara, Willow’s orders.” Dawn replied though secretly she was pleased and excited that the powerful Slayerette wanted her help.

“Ah, she’ll be good, look she has Liana, Alex and Laragh wi’ her so no one’s gonna harm her none.” Kat smiled slightly to herself knowing that she had Dawn under her influence and it would be easy to persuade the younger girl, especially with all the time they had spent together sparring Kat had wormed her way into Dawn’s confidence.

“I’ll help but just let me take this water over to Tara first...”

“Nah, it’s a’right I have ta go ta the shit hole so I’ll give it to her on me way,” Kat held her hand out for the small wooden mug that Dawn held. Being an innocent, trusting soul Dawn willingly passed the cup over to the elder girl and went over to where the sails were being adjusted according to the needs of the ship.

As sooon as Dawn's back was turned Kat removed a small glass bottle from a leather contained tucked into her pants and, ensuring that no one was watching poured a blue liquid into the cup where it quickly dissipated into the cool liquid. Another look araound to make sure she wasn't being observed and Kat threw the bottle into the sea where it was lost forever.

Now bitch, let's see ya magic yer way outta this she thought grimly

As soon as she saw her enemy approach Alex bristled angrily, her hands immediately balled into fists but Laragh laid a gentle hand on Alex’s arm to restrain her friend while the tall olive skinned would be Amazon just smirked. “Hey Tara,” said Katarina as she handed her the cup. “Dawn had ta go see someone so she asked me to bring this fer ya.”

Tara took the cup with a grateful smile and a word of thanks before Kat headed below decks. She drank it down feeling slightly refreshed as the cool liquid coursed down her throat. Tara couldn’t be sure but the water tasted a little odd to her but she just put that down to the hot sun overhead.

Her luncheon finished Tara bid her friend’s goodbye and set off for the galley to clean up the mess and start work with Liana at her side, both wondering where Dawn had gone to as she had become a loyal companion and Tara was rarely seen without her.

There was a sudden moan from the side and Liana turned to see the blonde witch suddenly collapse to the deck of the ship.

“Tara!”

Chapter 32
Accusation
*********************************************************
Previously on Red Rosenberg

“Tara!”

******************************************************

“Right, the map has us about here so that would place Verminas roughly about here.” Xander indicated where both the Slayer and their destination were on a large tattered ships chart on parchment opened out on the top of a sealed barrel at the side of the helm, placed there as a makeshift table for whoever was steering the ship at the time.

“A’right, so if we turn the ship this way,” the redhead picked up a compass and created a crescent shape and noted down some figures by the point where her pencil stopped before picking up a small straight stick and ruled a short line that led away from the crescent point.

“Once we get ta here we ought ta be just a coupla miles from Verminas an’ it’ll be just a quick sail there.

“Then what?” Xander inquired hoping his friend had some kind of plan.

“We go ashore; we take whatever treasure we find then we go home again whatd’ya expect us ta do?”

“Will,we’re...” Xander stopped as he heard someone call out Tara’s name. As he was turning to the direction where the voice was coming from Willow had already vaulted from the helm to the deck and was running to where a group of girls were gathered around a fallen figure. She pushed them to one side and knelt by her fallen lover; taking one of Tara’s hands between her own Willow couldn’t help but notice that it felt like ice.

The blond witches face was paler than its usual hue and her eyes were wide, the irises enlarged yet vacant and staring up at the sky. There was a glimmer of perspiration on her forehead and upper lip while her breathing was becoming fainter by the minute.

“What happened here what? Why is Tara like this?” Though she was demanding answers from her crew Willow couldn’t help keep the fear out of her voice. If anything should happen to her lover she wasn’t sure what she would do.

The girls who were looking on at the sight of the Captain and the witch on the deck now looked at one another, each unsure as to what happened.

One of the girls, a dusky full bodied Nubian who was dressed in just a pair of knee length britches and had some kind of a bone pierced through her nose spoke up from the back. “She had a drink of water and started to head back to below decks and then she just fell down. At least that’s all I saw Cap’n,” she said indicating the blonde

“An’ tha’s all ya saw Farina?” Willow asked of her. When the dark skinned girl nodded in concurrence that that was what had happened the redhead closed her eyes and clenched her jaw for a long moment as she digested this information. Her eyes snapped open suddenly as a factor that no one had mentioned so far struck her.

“Farina, you, you and you; take Tara ta me cabin and lay her on me bed, and be gentle wi’ her” she barked out to the girl who had informed her of Tara’s actions and three others. “You, where’s Dawn?” the redhead practically growled out the question startling a brunette who was about to head back to where she had been swabbing the deck.

“Umm, I think she’s workin’ on the sails Cap’n,” the other girl replied nervously, scared by the anger in Willow’s voice. The pirate nodded that the understood and set off grimly to where the sails were being set to capture the most amount of wind it was possible to get.

********************************************************

In his tower on Verminas Salomon, the dark sorcerer was observing the events as they occurred aboard the Slayer. He was not happy. He watched sullenly as Katarina poisoned Tara’s water, saw the blonde witch drink from the tainted cup and fall to the deck of the ship. The dark sorcerer continually observed the aftermath of Tara’s poisoning. Watched the care that was given to Tara as she was taken to the cabin she shared with Willow. As he watched a dark smile crossed his face as he retained the information for later recall.

After a few more moments of observation he then cupped his hands together as if in prayer and concentrating deeply he incanted a spell. As he uttered his words a faint pink mist started to form just in front of him. Slowly the mist started to thicken and grow before him as if it were a piece of cotton candy until finally a small pink cloud hovered there.

“Go to the Fae witch,” he ordered the small cloud which hovered there a moment or two longer before slowly rising to the top of the tower and flew out of a hole in the ceiling. It paused a second, rotating slowly as if it were getting its bearings before heading over the ruins of what had been a much larger building, flying above a thick jungle canopy before heading out over the ocean and the direction of The Slayer.
*************************************************
Dawn was busy hauling on the Narina sail, a triangular mainsail which was hoisted up the mast by a single halyard attached to the head of the sail. This configuration, which came from the port city that had been Tara’s home until Willow had rescued her, allowed for the use of a tall mast enabling sails to be set to points where they could get the maximum amount of wind to fill the sails.

This was where Willow found her with two other crew members, heaving on one of the ropes to adjust the rigging so that the ship was sailing towards Verminas.

“Ahoy there Dawn,” the redhead yelled out startling the three girls. Dawn looked around and saw Willow standing there her face unusually calm. One of the girls just nodded to Dawn indicating that she would take up the slack allowing the youngster to see what her Captain wanted.

“Would you be so good as to tell me where Tara is Dawn,” Willow asked her voice completely neutral.

“Hmm the last I saw her she was standing...” Dawn’s words faded as she saw where she had left Tara with Liana only to see that the blonde witch and her Nubian bodyguard were no longer there.

“She was there Willow, I swear that’s where I left her.” Said Dawn bewildered by the lack of Tara or Liana. “Perhaps she’s gone back down to the galley,” she suggested thinking it the most likely place Tara would have gone.

“Maybe she’s gone to the galley,” Willow said in a sing song voice, clearly mocking Dawn. “Well let’s go see if she’s there shall we Dawn?” Willow spoke with a scarily cheery voice that made Dawn instantly suspicious. Willow was never that cheery without unless she was planning something particularly nefarious.

Dawn nodded her head slowly knowing that Willow as up to something but unsure as to what. Willow approached her and made as if to place her arm around the younger girls shoulders only at the last second to snake her hand to her ear lobe inching it viciously between her index finger and thumb making Dawn squeal in agony as Willow started to drag her off toward her cabin muttering the whole time, “leave me girl would ya, I’ll show ya what happens when ya leave the Captain’s woman.”

Willow dragged Dawn all the way down to her cabin kicking and screaming all the way and startling other crew members. Upon entering her cabin Willow roughly shoved Dawn to the floor. The younger girl fell hard scraping her knees despite landing on one of the luxurious rugs that covered some of the hard wood floor.

“Ouch!!!! Gods Willow what is wrong with....” Dawn’s words dissipated as she looked up and saw the recumbent Tara on the bed. She appeared to be sleeping peacefully with her chest rising and falling gently. Dawn was not amused.

“What the hell are you playing at?” she asked vehemently, “first you ask me where Tara is and I say the galley, then for no reason you pinch my ear lobe, which still fucking hurts, drag me down here only to show me that she’s fine and sleeping in your bed.” Dawn was now standing and facing the pirate, her hands balled into fists at her sides, and she looked about ready to punch Willow in the face, Captain or no.

“Take a good hard look at her Dawn. Take a good. Hard. Look.” There was no doubting the menace in Willow’s voice as she made the younger girl look at the blonde witch in repose on the bed.

Dawn started to edge cautiously across the cabin to the bed. As she edged closer to the bed she looked over at the Captain who glared grimly back at her. Her mouth was tight lipped while her eyes were so aflame with anger they could have practically thrown fireballs toward the young girl.

As she grew closer to the blonde girl on the bed Dawn started to realise that something was off with Tara. At first she wasn’t sure what it was until she got to the side of the bed and began to carefully look over the other girl’s body.

The first thing that she noticed was how beautiful Tara looked when at rest. Her creamy skin gave her the appearance of a china doll while her eyelids had a soft pink colour to them. Tara’s hair resembled sun ripened straw as it lay splayed out on the pillows. Tara appeared to be smiling which made Dawn wonder what the witch was thinking about and bought a small smile to her own face. The only thing that struck the brunette was the lack of color to Tara’s cheeks. They were so pale she could have been thought a ghost if it wasn't for the perspiration on her brow.

As Dawn’s gaze moved downward she couldn’t help but stop at Tara’s sweat soaked breasts, or what she could see of them over Tara’s dress. They were so full and so enticing it took all of Dawn’s willpower not to reach out and cop a feel but thought better of it while she was under Willow's gaze. And this was when Dawn realised that something was wrong, Tara’s chest was still. There was no rhythmic rise and fall of the blonde girl’s chest as she breathed in and out. As Dawn looked even closer at Tara’s body she realised that the other girl wasn’t breathing at all.

Dawn reached out with her hand and gently stroked the blonde girl’s cheek and was so shocked to find that it was stone cold that she involuntarily jumped back, an expression of fear and horror on her face. She was sorely afraid, in all the time that Dawn had known Tara the blonde had always been joyful and full of life, if a little nervous and timid. And whilst the stowaway had at first been objectionable towards working with Tara in the ships galley, they had both learned to work together and had a reached a mutual respect, and, though Dawn would be loathe to admit it, a friendship, however minor had formed between he two. A friendship that had grown stronger when Dawn’s love Simone had died at the hands of an unknown assailant aboard the ship and Tara had helped comfort her.

“Whassamatter with her?” Dawn asked her voice unsteady with fear. She found herself shaking against her will. All that the young girl had experienced since she had first stowed away on the Slayer nothing unnerved her more than seeing the unmoving, un-breathing witch.

In response Willow merely glared at her, eyes cold and hard with an intense hatred that Dawn had never seen before.

“I dunno, why’nt you tell me,” the pirate said, her voice as cold as ice and hard as flint.

“I don’t know Will...”

“You address me as Captain and do not lie to me,” Willow snarled out, her face as red as her hair with fury, interrupting Dawn who swallowed hard, her eyes wide with fear for never had she known Willow to be like this. She had a temper, yes, but never anything like Dawn was now witness to. She suddenly became aware the redhead was now encroaching upon her and was suddenly nervous as to what Willow was planning to do.

Wow... very intense. I'm assuming this mist that the sorcerer is sending will help Tara, but why? Why does he want her alive? You have me hooked and eager to see where this is leading.

Thank you for the great update.

yah ypu are back and writing! And what a way to come out of the gates! I'm really curious as to why Tara is so vital to the evil sorcerer...why she is the key to restoring his fallen god. Katrina has a lot to answer for in poisoning Tara. You have kept me thoroughly hooked. I'm looking forward to the next instalment. Thank you for welcoming me aboard Cap'n.

I'm really hoping that Buffy and Xander will come in to defuse situation before Willow does something she will regret. I'm also wondering what the pink mist is that the sorcerer cast, a part of me doesn't want Tara to be cured that way because it seems to simple for me. But the other part of me would like that so we can Willow and Tara loving. Can't wait for the next update!!!! :grin

Willow_Friendly Piss off scary Willow is a lot of fun to write but be assured that someone will come to rescue Dawn and prevent Willow from making a stupid mistake. And don't worry, there'll be some more Willow and Tara loving soon. Thanks for the feedback :)

loislane1 The reason why the sorcerer wants Tara so badly will become clear soon, and it's nothing to do with coffee, kisses and gay loving. Kat definitley has a lot of explaining to do and she'll got her just desserts for harming Tara, as to the next installment it's right here. Thanks for the feedback :)

fhiwda Things are about to get even more explosive in this chapter, why does the sorcerer want to help Tara? Well I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you :p. Glad I have you hooked by the story and that you're enjoying it so much. Thanks for the feedback :)

Chapter 33

Previously on Red Rosenberg

And this was when Dawn realised that something was wrong, Tara’s chest was still. There was no rhythmic rise and fall of the blonde girl’s chest as she breathed in and out.

“Whassamatter with her?” Dawn asked her voice unsteady with fear. She found herself shaking against her will. All that the young girl had experienced since she had first stowed away on the Slayer nothing unnerved her more than seeing the unmoving, un-breathing witch.

************************************************************************
Dawn was finding herself more and more in fear for her life as Willow advanced upon her. The expression on the pirates face was grim as she bore down on the youngster who started to retreat, walking backwards until her back hit the wall and she could go no further. Willow’s hand shot our and got a hold of the other girl’s wrist in a grip of iron. She got close up in Dawn’s face adding to her fear. As she felt a trickle of liquid run down her leg and Dawn realised she had wet herself.

Ohhh, I wonder if she’ll let me change my britches first, Dawn thought, slightly delirious from the sense of fear the redhead was instilling in her.

“What. Did. You. Do. To. Tara?” Willow snarled at the girl her teeth bared so closely to Dawn’s face she could have torn off the girl’s nose with her teeth. Her breath was rancid; the smell of meat, fish and rum so powerful Dawn flinched from the unpleasant perfume as it burned her nostrils. Dawn tried to break free from Willow’s grasp, even striking it with her fist but to no avail.

“I didn’t do anything to Tara,” Dawn yelled back, her blue eyes moist with unshed tears as the pain in her wrist from Willow’s powerful grasp started to make her arm go numb. “Why do you keep insisting that I did it, that I poisoned her?”

“Cos you were the one that handed her the cup o’ water, everyone saw ya hand it to her. So you must’ve been the one what did it. NOW WHAT DID YA DO?”

“What? That’s ridiculous Wil...Cap’n. Just because I handed it to her it don’t mean that I put anything in the water. Why would I do that to her, why would I dare risk my own life by harming her?”

Despite the agonizing pain in her arm and the fear coursing through her body Dawn had had enough of Willow and her attitude, her unwillingness to believe that Dawn was telling her the truth. So the girl decided to use the only thing that she had on her side. Logic. And it was working to as the furious pirate looked at her slightly baffled by Dawn’s own question as if the idea had never crossed her mind. When she spoke again it was slow and hesitant, as if Willow was unsure as to how to say the words she wanted to say.

“I dunno why, mebbe you have feelings for me.”

Dawn’s eyes boggled at this bizarre statement for much as Willow was attractive Dawn was still grieving for Simone and even if she wasn’t she didn’t think it right that she, essentially an ensign, could ever approach Willow regards a relationship
**************************************************************

Down in one of the cabins a meeting was being held, a meeting of insurrectionists. A group of girls who looked no different from any other members of the ships crew but a group who were ready to commit mutiny to achieve their ends.

The olive skinned girl who’s cabin the mutineers were in, stood from the ornately carved chair in which she had sat like a queen upon her throne.

“Ya all know why we’re here,” the leader said immediately shushing the crowd who had been talking quietly among themselves. “We’re here cos we’ve had enough of living under the thumb of the great Cap’n Red,” this last was spoken with great sarcasm.

A quiet laughter rippled through the small crowd until the leader raised her hand for silence, a smirk on her face.

“Aye, we’re here cos of our leader, the great and mighty Cap’n Red Rosenberg. She rescued us and gave us a home but, what has she done for us since?”

There were more quiet murmurs as the crowd began arguing quietly amongst themselves before one near the front spoke up.

“She made us her crew, made us pirates. Made us heroes!” one exclaimed

“Aye she made us pirates alright,” Kat cried out angrily, “and now we can’t poke our faces into half the ports back home cos we all have a price on our heads through being her pirate crew. And what of our lives as pirates. Last I heard pirates were supposed to be wealthy wi’ riches taken from other ships, well where the fuck is our wealth cos I don’t have any fucking wealth, do any o’ you?”

Again the assemblage started to talk quietly to each other but this time all were in agreement with last statement and she smiled to herself, now she had them.

“These riches,” she continued unabated. “These riches should rightly be ours but what does the good Cap’n do; she says ‘we can’t keep all this gold, we oughta give it ta the poor. They need it so much more than we do’. Well I says why should we give all the gold ta the poor, why shouldn’t we keep the gold fer ourselves. If the poor need gold so badly let em go find their own fucking gold.”

With this final statement she had them. All the girls cheered in approval of her message

In reality, deep down Katarina could understand why Willow gave the majority of the loot they stole to the poor and hungry. Her mother had died when giving birth to her, then when she was five her father had died leaving her both to fend for herself. Though Kat had at first tried to get help from relatives they had had to turn her away out of the necessity that they could barely support themselves and their own children. Another mouth and the family would have been dead within the month. Kat had been reduced to begging on the streets when Willow had turned up.

Kat had been starving near death when the pirate had passed her on the street. She had stopped and spoken to them and when she learned that the girl had no family and no one who cared about her she took the girl under her wing taking Kat to her island base. Once there the girl had her eyes opened by all that she saw, other girls living free and happy lives away from the overbearing rule of the decadent, despotic overlords of the isles.

It hadn’t taken Kat very long to decide she wanted to be a member of Willow’s crew and quickly signed up to be a member of her crew and for a time she had been happy, first in learning how to fight with both sword and bare knuckle then being trained in working on the vessels, studying how to operate the sails, navigate using charts, compass, the sun and the stars.

It hadn’t taken the newcomer long to become proficient in all these skills, indeed within her first three months she was as skilled as a fighter as Willow herself was, determination to succeed giving her strength. Fifteen months later and the redhead had started to take Kat out on short voyages and at first it had been great fun for the newcomer, raiding ships that belonged to the lords of the isles and taking all their valuables then giving it to the oppressed peoples of those isles.

Then she had started to become disenfranchised with the whole venture. Whilst she enjoyed the entire process of raiding enemy vessels and fighting, giving the booty away was starting to lose its allure to the young girl. Resentment started to fester deep within Kat, a resentment that quickly turned to hatred. The crew respected and admired Willow for what she was doing, primarily because she had done so much to help the people in the villages where her crewmembers had come from. Doing practically all but free them from the clutches of the tyrannical overlords. Kat, however, did not see that as a reason to respect Willow, but a reason to kill her. Willow had a lot of power but it was power that Kat was convinced she could take from the redhead. Kat thirsted for power, and only by removing Willow from the scene could Kat have that power she craved.

*****************************************************************
Xander was at the wheel steering the ship towards the isle, checking the charts on the small table beside the helm when he suddenly became aware that not all was right. He wasn’t sure what it was, as he looked around everything appeared normal, there were girls tacking the sails ensuring that the maximum wind power filled the huge stretches of cloth, there were two girls in the crows nest keeping a lookout for other vessels and the isle itself and other assorted crewmembers were fishing, casting makeshift poles over the side of the ship.

Then he realised what was wrong, there were too few girls on the deck, there should have been more. Even with the ones that had been lost on the journey so far there should have been fifty girls at least but he could only count about twenty five. There was something very wrong here; he could feel it in his gut. He called over to Buffy who was refreshing herself at the water butt.

“What is it?” she asked recognising the worried look on his face.

“I don’t know,” he replied “but there’s summat not right here. I’m gonna go get Willow, see if she can sort what’s going on. Can you take the helm while I’m gone?”

“Aye, I’ll keep an eye on things for you.”

Xander gave her an affectionate squeeze of her shoulder and showed Buffy the heading she needed to keep to before setting off to below decks and Willow’s cabin

***************************************************************

The pink cloud flew over the ocean, swift and sure and was nearing the Slayer at a rapid pace. As it flew it went unnoticed by normal people for, being a creation of magic it could only be seen or detected by other mystical beings. Those and children and animals for they were innocents and so had their eyes fully opened to all things that existed in the universe. This meant that all seabirds could see it and would suddenly veer off out of its flight path. Any observers to this odd phenomenon on the islands or in ships would look in wonder and fear then give short prayers to their gods to deliver them from dark beings that could only be responsible for such eccentric behaviour.

Suddenly it came to a halt as it arrived at its pre-determined destination. For a little while it hovered above the ship as it learned the layout of the ship and the exact place where Tara was. Sensing the blonde girl’s location on the ship it started to slowly float down to cabin where the tense standoff between Willow and Dawn continued while Tara still lay on the bed in her poison induced coma.

The mystical cloud continued to float down but now it started to change its shape, altering itself so that it was approximating the rough outline of a humanoid as it grew closer to the sleeping girl.

Finally it just seeped down into her body unseen by either of the two witnesses and immediately it began its work, magic cascading into Tara’s body, flowing into her bloodstream and washing away the offensive material, cleansing Tara, healing her and purging all the poisonous magic from within the white witch.

And whilst all that was happening to Tara Willow had decided that if Dawn wasn’t going to admit to having harmed Tara then she would at least punish her for it.

“Stand at me desk,” she commanded the innocent girl while she went to a rack of maps and started searching till she found an old crummy sack. All this time Dawn had just stood watching, more than a little perplexed at Willow’s request.

So when the redhead turned back to see Dawn staring at her with a puzzled frown upon her brow.

“What’d I tells ya,” Willow spat out vehemently and she approached Dawn with a face like thunder. She spun Dawn round so fast the youngster nearly fell over from dizziness. She then grabbed Dawn’s arms at the wrist and forced them on to the desk. Finally Willow kicked at her shins till they were a distance from the table and Dawn’s back was arched upwards.

By now Dawn was more than a little concerned as she had no idea what Willow was planning. She heard something being removed from the sack and she craned her neck round to see what the pirate captain was doing. She was horrified to see that Willow had a cat o’ nine tails, a short nine tailed whip. In all the time that Dawn had known her Willow had never ever considered beating any crewmember as an acceptable form of punishment.

“Please Willow, please don’t do this. I swear to you I never did anything to Tara, I love her, she’s my friend,” she cried out in panic and fear, tears of dread glistening in her eyes started to clip down her cheeks.

“Sorry Dawn but it’s got ta be done,” Willow growled as she rolled up the sleeves of her shirt. “If it makes ya feel any better this is gonna hurt me a lot more than you.”

“Somehow I doubt that,” Dawn muttered under her breath. She felt Willow pushing the back of her shirt up revealing her strong, well muscled back to the air. The redhead closed her eyes and took a deep breath to steel herself before raising her arm that held the whip before bringing it down sharply.

Goodness! I certainly hope Tara stops Willow or Dawn moves out of the way.

I am very glad that Xander is noticing something is wrong. I hope he can get to Willow and stop the mutiny before it happens. Unfortunately, anyone who seems to catch on to the mutiny seems to end up dead. I hope he is able to be a hero here and stop it.

I hope Tara or Xander will stop Willow in time. :shock I would like to see Tara magically throw Willow across the room not to hurt Willow, but to stop her from whipping Dawn. Because I'm sure seeing something like that would send Tara back to what her father did to her. And I wonder how Buffy will react to what happened, Will she stand by her captain or will she stand by her sister? Can't wait for the next update!!!

fhiwda Someone will get to Dawn in time never fear but Tara is still comatose on the bed but she will be well again soon. Xander has noticed that something is wrong on deck but is as yet unaware of the mutineers. Thanks for the feedback. :)

Willow_Friendly One of them will stop Willow from harming Dawn but it won’t be Tara. As to what Buffy will make of this, she won’t be best pleased with Willow attempting to harm Dawn but what she’ll make of the argument remains to be seen. Of course, that’s she’s told. Thanks for the feedback. :)

Chapter 33

Previously on Red Rosenberg

Dawn heard something being removed from the sack and she craned her neck round to see what the pirate captain was doing.

She felt Willow pushing the back of her shirt up revealing her strong, well muscled back to the air. The redhead closed her eyes and took a deep breath to steel herself before raising her arm that held the whip before bringing it down sharply.

************************************************************
Willow was about to bring the lash down on Dawn’s bare back when she felt her wrist in a firm strong grip. She turned angrily to see Xander standing there, incredulity in his eyes.

“What the hell d’ya think yer doin’ Will,” he cried out in disbelief.

“I’m doling out punishment, what’s it look like,” she snarled back in response snatching her arm back from Xander’s grasp and turning back, ready to lash Dawn with the multi-tailed whip she held.

“Why?” Demanded Xander, wanting to know why his oldest friend was about to beat the sister of another friend. A friend she trusted just as much as Xander.

“Because she tried to kill Tara,” she snapped back savagely startling the young man.

“I didn’t Xander I swear I didn’t,” Dawn wept from where she stood at the bed, not daring to stand upright in case of further remonstration from Willow. “I don’t know what happened to Tara but it wasn’t me but she won’t listen and she’s become a real fucking bitch,” she continued bitterly.

Xander continued to stare at the sight before him, unable to take in what he was seeing and hearing. Finally he tried to come up with something to defuse the situation. He placed one hand on Willow’s shoulder and raised his free hand to as a sign of peace while she just glared at him.

“A’right Will, now don’t bite my head off but did you actually see Willow poison or attack Tara in anyway?” he asked knowing full well that she hadn’t. He hoped to make Willow stop and think about what she was doing before she did something that she would regret forever.

Unseen by any of them in the bed Tara’s hand twitched gently once.

Despite Xander’s hopes Willow quickly replied to his question.

“No I didn’t but everyone saw that she was the one who handed Tara the mug,” she replied to his question, her face dared him to challenge her.

“Well did any of em see her put anything in the cup besides water?”

This time the redhead hesitated and her eyes lowered for a second as she thought about it. Slowly Willow shook her head, no she hadn’t seen anyone. As that thought crossed her mind she realised that she may have made an awful mistake.

By now Dawn had stood up from her position at the bed and her anger was growing rapidly as her Captain finally understood.

“I told you,” Dawn snarled out from between gritted teeth. “I told you it wasn’t me. Tara is my friend; I care about her so why the hell would I hurt her?”

Hearing the other girls words Willow lowered her head. She didn’t want to admit that she had made an error. That she had falsely accused Dawn of a crime of which she was innocent while Dawn glared at her with utter loathing and Xander looked between the two of them wondering what was going to happen next.

**************************************************************************

In his tower domain on the isle Salomon was observing events on the ship. His lips turned up into a small smile as he saw that the cloud he had created was healing Tara. Satisfied that all he had set in motion would soon reach its fruition he approached the velvet covered statue, head held downwards in a show of respect to his mistress. The necromancer fell to his knees and kept his head held low as he started to speak in an excited whisper.
“Goddess, the one who will free you from your bonds is nearly here. In two days she will be here then we will take her blood to help you rise and then the world will tremble at you name my Lady Negara.”

After he had finished, Salomon closed his eyes in silent meditation. All was quiet in the stone chamber; the multitude of candles which provided the only illumination in the room and cast long uncanny shadows upon the walls suddenly flickered and blew out, wisps of smoke weaving upwards like black wraiths clawing at the vaulted ceiling of the now darkened room. Salomon slowly started to raise his head, turning his gaze to the cloth covered effigy. His eyes grew wide with excitement as he received new orders form his mistress.

“Yes Mistress, the gold, as much as the pirate wishes. It shall be done right away.”

**********************************************
Back in Willow’s cabin Dawn was still confronting her Captain over the accusation that she had poisoned Tara. After several minutes silence Willow suddenly spoke up again;

“Mebbe she put the poison in the water barrel,” Willow suggested as she made another leap in the dark as to how Tara could have been poisoned.

“Wouldn’t that have harmed the other crew members? But I haven’t been poisoned and neither has anyone else?” Xander said, wanting Willow to think things through carefully before speaking.

Again Willow lowered her head. She knew that she had no real proof that Dawn had attempted to murder Tara with poison for as the girl had said why would she do such a thing? Finally she turned to face Dawn, her face full of anger, not with the girl but because she had no idea what was happening or why.

“Fine,” the redhead spat venomously at the girl. “Ya didn’t do it, ya did nuffin ta hurt her.”

Dawn slowly advanced toward her, fists clenched at her side so tightly the knuckles were white.

“I told you I’d never done it but you wouldn’t believe me. You was ready ta beat me with that whip for it.” Her blue eyes locked with the pirates green ones as she spoke steadily through gritted teeth, her anger clearly apparent. Next thing she found herself falling flat on her ass as Dawn punched her full in the face. The young girl then walked over to the bed where Tara lay and took one of the blonde’s soft hands between her own.

“I swear Tara; I never did anything to hurt you.” She whispered softly to the witch. “You’re my friend, my best friend. I would never do anything to harm you, I give you my word.” Her oath finished Dawn placed a gentle kiss on Tara’s forehead before turning back to Willow, who by now had been helped up by Xander and was rubbing where her jaw had caught the full impact of Dawn’s blow. The young girl glared at her coldly before turning on her heel and started toward the door when she was stopped by Xander’s voice.

“Hold hard there Dawn,” his stentorian voice making the girl freeze in her tracks, unused to hearing Xander speak so harshly. She turned back to the two senior ships officers and eyed them both cautiously. He gave a slight tilt of his head to get Dawn to approach them which she did holding steady with Xander’s gaze.

“Listen Dawn, I know ya just went through some shit but we need ta keep this between ourselves. No one else must hear of this.”

“Why?” demanded Dawn, supremely pissed at all that was occurring to her. “Is it so that the great Willow Rosenberg will still look good in the eyes of her crew?” she spat out bitterly before spitting in Willow’s face. The redhead recoiled in shock at Dawn’s reaction and realised just how far over the boundaries she had crossed.

“No, it’s cos I think summat is going down Dawn, summat major and if news of you two fighting get’s around we could lose the ship. So whaddya say Dawn, will ya keep all this to yerself?” Xander’s voice was quieter now, having gone back to his more dulcet tones.

Dawn was quiet as she took in what Xander had said. The idea of something bad happening aboard the Slayer unnerved her slightly but she was fairly capable with both fist and blade, and she was positive her sister would never allow her to come to any harm. Finally she nodded her head in acquiescence to Xander’s request.

“Aye Xander, I’ll stay quiet about things,” she said and raising her hand spat on it before proffering it to the young man who did likewise and they shook having now made a promise which, if she broke it could result in the loss of a finger. Dawn’s vow now made she did exit the room and headed to her own cabin.

Silence reigned in the cabin for a few minutes as Willow and Xander stared at the closed door of the cabin before the young man broke the quiet that now pervaded the room.

“I gotta say Will, ya were asking for that,” he said lightly while his friend just glared at him.

“Huh, fat lot o’ good you are,” she complained. “Why din’t ya stop her ‘fore she hit me?”

“Cos I din’t know Dawn was going to hit you. But you did deserve it, accusing her without any real proof that she had actually done it.” I mean would you accept someone else’s word if they told you I’d done it?”

Willow stared at her friend for a moment before turning away and Xander knew that he had made his point.

“Hmm,” the redhead grumbled when she turned back to face him. “Well if Dawn din’t do it then who did? Someone musta got the poison to Tara somehow but who and why?”

“That’s the real reason I came down here,” he replied becoming all serious again. “When I was up on deck before I noticed that there weren’t as many crew members up top as there should’a been.”

“What d’ya mean Xan?” she asked curious as to where her friend was going.

“I mean, Willow, that I think we got more problems than an island with a supposedly dead necromancer on it.”

************************************************************** As the mutineer’s meeting came to an end the leader called one of the girls back to her.

“Wait, she said startling the girl at her commanding voice and tensing up when she a friendly arm slide round her shoulders. “You’re friendly with Summer’s wannabe sister right?” Kat asked in a casual, friendly manner. At the other girl’s nod of confirmation Kat grinned. “Good, see if you can bring her to our side, she may be a useful ally to have when it comes to taking the ship.”

“It will be done my Captain,” the addressee replied and seeing the willing capitulation in the eye’s of her follower Kat allowed her disciple to leave. The other girl was about to exit when she paused at the cabin door.

“Mistress,” she said as he stopped to look back at the person she considered her true Captain.

“Aye, what is it,” the rebellion leader asked as she laid back on her bed grabbing a bottle of grog from under it and looked lazily in the girls direction.

“When we take the take ship I want the Lady Dawn for me.”

“Ya mean ya want ta be the one who kills her?”

“No, I...I mean I want...?”

Kat looked at her for a moment unsure as to what she was asking for until suddenly she understood.

Ya filthy minded little bitch she thought, her mouth curling in to a dirty grin.

“Aye, ya can have her fer yer own. I hope she won’t disappoint,” she replied with a smirk.

The other girl nodded her thanks before leaving the room while Kat relaxed back on her bed with her bottle of grog, a lazy smile caressing her lips as it appeared everything was going to plan.

Wow! Willow did cross a line. I hope this doesn't make it easier for Dawn to be drawn towards the Mutineers way of thinking.

fhiwda Hey fhiwda Yup, you’re exactly right about Willow crossing a line, and it'll be interesting when Buffy finds out, but I defy anyone to not be reckless when their soul mate’s life is in danger. As for Dawn and the mutineers you’ll just have to see in the chapter below. Thanks for the feedback :)

True_Love Lexi, sweetie!!!!! *big hugs* It’s so good to see you back on the board. I’m up to date with your story and looking forward to new chapters. Yup, as you can see I’m still all at sea :p but we’re heading in to last part of the story with the sorcerers isle only a chapter or two away. Of course Tara is still in the direst danger but hey, Willow was always in trouble in the show so I say turn around is fair play. At least with me they’ll get the happy ending they have deserved. Thanks for the feedback :)

Chapter 34
*************************************************************************
Previously on Red Rosenberg

“When I was up on deck before I noticed that there weren’t as many crew members up top as there should’a been.”

“What d’ya mean Xan?” she asked curious as to where her friend was going.

“I mean, Willow, that I think we got more problems than an island with a supposedly dead necromancer on it.”

Chapter 34

***************************************************************

Willow looked Xander square in the face wishing he would be clearer on what he was talking about.

“What ya talkin’ ‘bout Xander? What problems are ya on about?” Her voice was serious as she demanded to know what her friend’s suspicions were.

Xander didn’t reply at first but went to the cabin door and opening it wide he checked that here was no one around before closing the door and returned to Willow.

“There’s whispers on the ship, nowt to noticeable but they’re there. I can be walking along ta the sails ta help set em and the girls can be talking, but as soon as I show up they go quiet. I reckons as how someone’s plotting ta take the ship.”

The redhead’s eyes went wide in shock at this and she walked backwards till her legs struck the bed and her ass fell on the bed cover. Her mouth opened and closed but no words came out. At any other time she would have been jokingly compared to a fish.

A mutiny??? But why would anyone want to mutineer. Don’ I treat em right, keep their bellies full o’ food. And some of em have kids that I keep safe so why should they want ta take me ship?

After these thoughts ran threw Willow’s mind she snapped into action leaping up from the bed.

“Xan,” she barked at the young man startling him from his daydream of a blonde that he was hoping to get closer to. “I wants ya ta get Buffy down here now. We gots ta prepare.” He saw that his friend’s face was set into her resolve face which she only used when she was prepared for a fight and was pretty sure that blood was going to be spilled.

As Xander left the room the redhead turned to her blonde lover, still in a comatose state, on the bed.

“Ah Tara lass, I wish ya were here ta advise me,” Willow began talking to the unconscious blonde on the bed whose hand she was holding. Now she had severely damaged one of her friendships and was very nervous as to what would happen if Buffy should ever find out about the beating she had nearly given Dawn. The redhead suspected that there would not be much forgiveness from the small blonde.

********************************************************

Kat was strolling along the deck appearing quite nonchalant when she espied Dawn leaning over the ships balustrade and gazing out over the water. The mutineer decided to take the opportunity to join the girl.

“Ahoy there shipmate,” she greeted cordially, how’s life treating ya?”

Dawn, her face dark with misery and hate, merely glanced over in Kat’s direction before turning her attention back to the grey choppy ocean, white horses cresting the waves that ran toward the Slayer before splashing against the bow of the
ship.
“That good uh?” Kat replied quietly with a small smirk on her face. Dawn still didn’t speak but she sighed heavily.

“So what’s wrong that ya can’t talk ta yer old pal Kat?” She asked a stony faced Dawn who didn’t reply immediately but when she did her voice was heavy with misery laced with bitterness.

“She blamed me for hurting Tara.”

Upon hearing those six little words Kat allowed a sly look cross her face for a second before going back to one of concern for Dawn.

“What d’ya mean Dawn, how’re ya supposed to have hurt Tara?”

The girl finally turned to her shipmate revealing a face full of anger and hurt at what she considered to be Willow’s betrayal.

“Tara being poisoned, Willow reckon’s as ta how I did it fuckin’ stupid bitch she is. As if I’d try and harm her, don’t she trust me and if not then why did she put me in charge of looking after Tara?”

Kat heard what Dawn said, not just the words but the inflection behind them and realised how real the emotion was behind them. Inside Kat was dancing a jig as she realised how easy it was going to be to reel her in but kept her composure, her face showing nothing but sympathy and empathy for the other girl.

“So what ya gonna do about it?” she asked Dawn though she was pretty sure what the answer would be.

Dawn turned away to lean over the ships balustrade once more, looking back out over the dark ocean. She thought about all the things that had occurred to her since she had been discovered aboard the Slayer. Being humiliated by Willow in weapons training; having to defend Tara when she revealed she was a witch; forced to fight and kill Rona after an attempt on Tara’s life; her romance with Simone which was cut short when Simone was brutally murdered, and her murderer was still free; her new friendship with Liana, and she wasn’t blind to the looks the colored girl was giving her even though she knew she wasn’t prepared for a new relationship. Not with Simone’s death still fresh. Now after all that she had been accused of trying to kill Tara, a person that she had grown to like and care about a great deal.

To Dawn it all seemed so unfair that all this misfortune would fall upon her for just stowing away on what she believed would be a big adventure. Then she remembered the offer she had had given her and made a decision.

“Kat,” she said still staring out over the choppy sea. The taller girl looked at her, an expression of innocence painted over a face of willing betrayal and murder.

“Aye,” she replied verbally, go on girl say it, ya know ya want to

“Kat, is that offer still available, ya know the one of being a crewmember on yer own ship once we got back to the base?”

“Aye girl, it is. Ya wanna take it up?”

“Aye, yes, please. If I can,” said Dawn immediately becoming a great deal happier and her brilliant smile brightening up her face. The girl’s antics made Kat giggle a little.

“Aye girl. There’s allus a place on me ship. Well the ship I’m gonna get,” Kat amended wryly, “if the person is willing ta work hard and won’t stab me in the back.” She finished with a pointed look at Dawn.

“Oh no, I promise you have my total loyalty.” Dawn said in reply to the suggestion in Kat’s unasked question. “You befriended me and taught me how to use a sword and you want me on your ship with you. Not like a certain Captain I know,” the young girl grouched as she scrunched her face back into a scowl and she spat the word Captain with the bitterness of one who feels sorely betrayed.

Kat laughed heartily at her reaction and threw an arm over her shoulders.

“Ha, ya shouldn’t worry about her to much Dawn. She’s old, been at sea too long. It’s time fer some fresh blood if ya know what I mean.

Now we have herKat thought as she watched Dawn head down to the cabins. She waited till she was sure Dawn was in her own cabin before setting off to prepare her final plans.

*******************************************************************************

“Now ya know what we know have ya heard owt yerself Buff?”

The petite blonde was shocked at everything that she had heard from her two friends. Someone wanted to take the Slayer from Willow? Who, why, how? Buffy herself knew from personal experience what Willow would do to help people in trouble having been rescued along with Dawn from a slaver vessel years ago by the redhead.

She hoped that whoever it was knew what they were letting themselves in for because Willow never gave anything up without a fight. Nothing that was important to her anyway and the ship and its crew were the most important things in Willow’s life. Well those and Tara.

“Sorry Wills but I honestly can’t say I’ve heard much from any of the crew. I wish I could be of more help to you but I’ve not heard anything.”

Willow frowned at this, wondering who in her crew it was that was plotting against her. She hated all this secrecy and not knowing what was going on. She liked things to be nice and simple. There were the rich and there were the poor, and she helped by latter by stealing from the former. It was an elegant, easy to understand system.

But the whole idea of not being able to trust her crew, of suspecting almost everybody of being willing to backstab her made Willow feel sick in her guts. These were girls that she had known for years, had rescued some of them personally from the most depraved of lives and had given them shelter and a certain amount of safety.

The idea that someone wanted to take her ship made the redhead feel as if she were being spat in the face and kicked in a tender area.

“Willow, where’s Dawn?” the blonde asked wondering where her sister was. She had assumed that Willow would want Dawn there in case she had heard anything from among the crew as she spent a great deal of time around the other crew members.

Willow practically leapt form her chair when she heard Buffy mention her sisters name and she and Xander exchanged a look that they hoped Buffy hadn’t noticed. Buffy had noticed the look though, but pretended she hadn’t, for now at least.

“I...I er...I decided to let ‘er go to ‘er cabin fer the day. She were real upset at Tara being all ill like she is. As ya know yersel’ Buff.”

Buffy nodded her head sagely knowing how close the blonde witch and her sister had become. Tara was almost like a second sister to Dawn and it made Buffy happy to know that Dawn still had a friend after she had been so distraught by the death of Simone.

Willow was about to say more when there was the slightest of sounds emanating from the bed. Nothing to loud, just a slight moaning, as if someone was having a bad dream.

The trio looked in the bed’s direction to see its sole occupant tossing and turning slightly. Willow, Buffy and Xander turned to each other, one thought clearly readable in all their eyes, is Tara about to wake.

Willow slowly rose from her chair and moved slowly and silently over to the bed, gazing down at the figure of her beloved. Tara was writhing weakly in the bed, as if the slightest move was causing her the greatest pain. Her eyes were flickering from left to right beneath her closed lids and just that sight filled the redhead’s heart.

god’s Tara yer so beautiful and I love ya so much. Please, please wake up so's I can see yer beautiful blue eyes again.

Then it happened, the one thing that none of them thought would ever happen again.

“W...Willow?”

Dibs!!

Hey Rick! Yep, I'm back on the board. It's kind of sad to see so many stories that were updating frequently have been put on the back burner, but I have no room to complain since I'm just as guilty. Glad to see you're still busy posting. I have re-committed myself to writing and will be doing routine updates as well.

Uh oh! Dawn's planning to join up with Kat? That's not good news. I really don't think she has a clue of what she is getting herself into. I know Buffy's going to be pretty pissed when she finds out that Willow almost beat Dawn, but I also think she will in the end side with Willow and get Dawn back on their side. I wonder what Tara was dreaming about, maybe the island and their upcoming battle. Maybe she thinks she saw Willow's death or something, but in the end that won't be the case. In any case, she's awake now and I guess I'm just going to have to wait to find out.

Good job. Keep writing :kgeek

True_Love Hey Lexi :bigwave A big YAYonyour dibs :) I totally agree with you about the lack of continuation with some stories, something I’m sure you noticed nearly happened with me, and that was mostly through procrastination on my part. I am a bad, bad kitten :shame however I am back again YAY and am going to complete it.

You’re right about both Summer’s girls. Dawn has no idea at all about Kat and her plans, she just wants to see some of the world and have some adventures at the same time which is why she stowed away on Willow’s ship in the first place. However she is also very loyal to Tara and though she may not say it out loud considers her to be her best friend since Simone’s death.

Buffy will be seriously pissed with Willow but the girls have had their quarrels in the past and their friendship is still strong and Buffy is still a major positive influence on Dawn.

Tara’s dream’s. Hmmm?

I did actually have the idea of Willow temporarily dying at the end of one chapter then Tara resurrecting her at the start of the next, just as Xander did with Buffy in ‘Prophecy Girl’ but I don’t think the moderators would allow anything that bad to happen to Willow or Tara.
Thanks for the feedback :)

Then it happened, the one thing that none of them thought would ever happen again. The once voice they thought they may never hear again.

“W...Willow?”

Chapter 35
********************************************************************
The voice was soft. Softer than the witch’s usual vocal tone but it was still enough to make Willow’s eyes go wide, her eyebrows almost reached her red hair while her jaw dropped in amazement.

“Tara!” she whispered not fully able to believe that her lover was, or at least appeared to be, coming out of her coma.

Willow leaped out of her seat and ran to the bed taking Tara’s hand between her own. The hand itself was cold to the touch but seemed to be warming as they were contained by Willow’s much warmer ones while her closed eyes were moving rapidly under their lids as if reading something quickly. Willow noticed that Tara appeared to be shivering slightly under the bed covers, her teeth chattering gently. To Willow’s panic stricken mind this meant that Tara was still suffering and to her mind there was only one thing that she could do for the girl and that was to cover her up with blankets even more and she dived in to one of the two chests in her cabin, one containing blankets and bedding of a sort while the other held a few shirts and pairs of britches.

While Willow raided the container Buffy and Xander exchanged a look and by an unspoken mutual consent decided that this would be a good time to leave the cabin. They both knew that this time was important for Willow. After the time that Tara had been in her coma Willow needed to spend time with her lover, primarily to be absolutely positive that Tara was fully well and there were no after effects from her magic induced malady.

Whilst Tara appeared to be cured from the poison that had infected her system she was still not yet fully cognizant. To her hearing the world around her seemed to be comprised of various sounds at differing pitches. She could make Willow and Buffy as two high pitched tones while the third, Xander’s, had a much deeper vocal quality.

“Tara, Tara are ye good there?” Willow asked in a quiet voice as her other two friends exited her cabin.

On hearing the redheaded pirate’s voice Tara’s eyes slowly opened and her blue eyes took in the blurred image of her lover’s face. She couldn’t believe how tired and weak she felt as she attempted to raise her arm to wipe at her eyes.

“Willow, what happened to me?” she asked; her voice all whispery and more than a little dry after over a week’s lack of use.

“Ya had some spell put on ya and ya collapsed on the deck. Ye were out fer a while ‘n caused a big fright.”

The blonde witch’s eyes went wide upon hearing this and she tried to raise herself up off the bed but her head began to throb painfully and she slowly lowered her body back on to the bed and closed her eyes. Once she was comfortable again Tara let out a low sighing moan of relief.

Willow watched over her girl with great concern, having already lost one lover in her lifetime she was determined to not lose another. She clasped her hands tightly round one of Tara’s, as if with that one simple act she could keep Tara with her wholly and completely, body and soul.

The reunion, of a sort, between Willow and Tara was suddenly interrupted by the sound of running feet stampeding down the corridor only to come to a sudden halt outside the pirate Captain’s door. This was promptly followed by a loud hammering on her door.

“Cap’n, Cap’n,” came the frenzied yell from outside the door, irritating Willow no end.

“God’s damn it,” she muttered under her breath whilst continually holding Tara’s hands just to be sure that her lover was still alive. To satisfy her that everything that had occurred over the past couple of days had just been a very bad dream. “Who the damned hell is it that wants me now,” Willow continued grumbling before calling out to the person behind the door, “who is it, whaddya want?” she said in a very disgruntled voice.

“It’s Shannon Cap’n,” a slightly excited, out-of-breath voice replied. “We spied land. Mr. Xander reckons as ta how it could be Veminas.”

The pirate Captain suddenly felt divided. On the one hand she wanted to go up top and see Verminas, the dead mans island for herself. On the other hand she didn’t want to leave Tara, not after the poisoning that had nearly killed her lover. If she lost her beloved Tara Willow wasn’t sure as to just what she would do. After a long moment spent staring at Tara’s calm restful face Willow knew what needed to be done.

“Shannon,” she called out “go back on deck ta Mister Xander and tell him ta weigh anchor. I’ll see the lay of the land tomorrow but fer now I’m staying with Tara.”

“Aye Cap’n,” came the reply through the door followed by the heavy thud of boots receding and then stomping up the steps leading topside.

Willow turned back to the witch to see that she had re-opened her eyes and a small smile graced her lips. The redhead smiled back, her heart filled with joy to see her girl so fully recovered.

“Do you know where Dawn is? I thought she may have been here.”

Willow froze at those words unsure as to what to say. She couldn’t just come out and say that she had dismissed Dawn from guarding Tara because Willow had believed that Dawn was responsible for poisoning Tara in the first place. Had in fact nearly punished the girl physically, if it hadn’t been for Xander she would have beaten Dawn with a whip.

The pirate knew that if she informed her lover of that then Tara would most likely defend Dawn vociferously. No, no the best thing would be to leave it for now and talk to Tara about it on the morrow.

“Willow, are you alright?”

“Eh, who, wha...,” Willow came out of her thoughts a little distracted only to see the blonde looking at her concernedly.
AInt that just like Tara Willow mused to herself she’s the one that’s been near death these last coupla days and I’m the one that she’s bothered about.

“Willow, Willow, are you alright,” Tara said her soft voice slightly hoarse after the time spent over the past couple of days.

“Aye... aye I’m fine lass. Umm Dawn di’nt lke seeing ya all sick and near ta de....” Willow choked back a sob as she recalled how close Tara had been to near death, squeezing the other girl’s hand tightly as she did so to reassure herself that Tara really was recovered and this wasn’t just a dream.

Willow desperately wished she could let her feelings out. Reveal how happy she was that Tara hadn’t died, that the blonde witch was alive and at this moment in her arms. But Willow was also a pirate and an adventurer and in the circles that she mingled with showing your emotions was considered a sign of weakness. Indeed she herself had in the past mocked others for showing their feelings of love for those they cared about. However now that Willow had almost lost someone who meant a great deal to her she had a greater empathy for those who lost someone, even if she said nothing.

After few minutes Willow felt able to speak again but her voice was still choked with emotion.

“Dawn was upset when ya...when ya collapsed all sudden like so I gave her off time ta grieve fer ya.”

“She’s been grieving for me owwww,” Tara hissed in pain as she suddenly tried to rise upon hearing about Dawn and her emotional state.

“Oi, take it easy love, ya got time ta see her Tare.” Willow said in a calm soothing voice as she gently laid Tara back in to the bed “Dawn ain’t goin’ nowhere; she’ll still be here tomorrer. Ya just lie back an’ take it easy. Ya been through summat bad ya know, ya could’a died now rest, ya need ta get your strength back I’ll let Dawn know you recovered while ya sleep.”

“You will, good. Thank you Willow,” Tara said giving a weak smile to the pirate. “She’s a good girl you know. She genuinely cares about me. Apart from you I’d trust my life with no other.” The witch said in a husky whisper.

********************************************************

In his tower on Verminas, Salomon gazed in to his scrying pool and observed the re-united lovers in bed together, a slight smile tugging at the edge o f his lips.

At last she has arrived.
