[center]Chapter 11: Battle Of The Bands[/center]
Oz Osbourne is a pain in my side! He keeps trying to flirt even though
he knows that I'm a lesbian. I'm engaged to Tara!!!! Now, he's bothering
me about a band battle. I finally accepted for the entire band today. I'm
gonna try to get Angel and Spike to help us that night. I hope they
agree.
Willow finishes writing in her diary and puts it away. That night, she
dreams of Tara joining her in a shower and they talk about having kids
together. Meanwhile, Tara is dreaming of Willow in a red leather catsuit
with a bright blue whip. When everyone wakes up and gets outside for
the bus, Willow and Tara sit beside each other on Tara's lawn. Neither
one mentions their dream to the other. They are cautious on how they
speak to each other to where the other band members jump to any
conclusions. Tara asks, "Will, when are we gonna tell them?" Willow
replies, "Today at practice because I have some other big news for the
band." "Really? What is it?" Willow whispers the news of the battle to
Tara. "Wow," Tara whispers back to Willow. They get to school and the
day seems to rush by. Before the band realizes it, school's over and
everybody gathers up in front of Faith and LeAnn's garage for practice.
Angel and Spike show up 10 minutes later. Willow has everyone to sit
down for some big news. "First of the good news is Tara and I are
engaged." Faith cuts in with, "Gratz T and Red!" Tara blushes and
Willow finishes, "Thanks. Second of all, we have a band battle against
the DIngoes set for Friday, at the Bronze around 7 pm." Buffy
asks, "Why so soon?" Willow answers with, "Actually, Oz has been
bugging me about a battle for a month." Spike asks, "What does that
have anything to do with me and Angel?" "I want you both to help us
that night with the battle." Angel says, "We're in." After they practice,
everyone congratulates Tara and Willow on the engagement. Everyone
loads up into Faith's van the morning to go to the mall. When they park,
everybody heads into Hot Topics. When everyone is inside, every band
member pays for 2 outfits. As they begin to leave, Willow asks the clerk
for a package that was ordered a week ago. "Here you go ma'am,
already paid for and wrapped." "Thanks." Tara starts to ask and Willow
stops her with, "You'll find out later..." Willow and Faith laugh at the
same time. The band heads to school 5 minutes early after leaving the
mall. Willow and Faith go to Faith's van during lunch break. Faith hides
her special outfit in her bag that is always in her van. "Those 2 are
gonna be surprised tonight." "Yeah, they are." Faith barely gets the
bag tied back before Buffy comes up. "Hi lover." Faith smiles and
says, “hi baby.” “What’s the secret?” “Huh?” “The one y’all laughed
about.” “Nothing honey, just an inside joke.” “Can I know it?” “Not yet,
later tonight.” “Oh ok.” Buffy starts to pout and Faith kisses it
away. “It’s good, believe me.” “I do, baby, I do.” Faith winks at Willow
without Buffy noticing. “Hey cuz, hey baby.” Tara says as she walks
up. “Hey T.” “Hey Faith, everyone in the band got early dismissals for
practice and the battle.” Xander walks up and says, “Yes!” “That’s
awesome,” Willow says and then gives Tara a tender kiss filled with
passion and desire. Everyone loads up and heads to Faith’s for
practice. “Ok, everybody get dressed in the outfits for tonight.” After
everyone is dressed, they decide what songs to perform during the
battle. “I say 3 songs.” “Yeah, first song is S Club 7’s Don’t Stop
Movin’,” Tara suggests. “Ok, second is Avril Lavigne’s I’m With You,”
Willow adds and Faith finishes with, “And the final song will be
Disturbed’s Prayer.” Buffy says, “If there is a tie, the tiebreaker will be
Kittie’s Raven. Tara, you wanna lead on it?” “Sure, cuz.” At 5 pm, the
band loads up the van and drives over to the Bronze. By 5:30 pm,
everything was set up at the club. “Ah, the Dingoes are here Faith,”
Anya says as she spots Oz. “So what,” Faith says in a laugh. By 7
pm, the Dingoes are up first. They play Disturbed’s Believe, Seether’s
Fine Again, and Kittie’s Brackish. Then, the Slayerettes take the stage
and play their 3 songs. They win with no doubt in anyone’s mind. Faith
tells Oz to try the battle again the next year. “And besides that Oz,”
Xander starts, “don’t bug Willow anymore because she’s engaged to
Tara.” “Oh really,” Oz states. “Yeah, I am,” Willow says. Tara shows
the ring on her hand to Oz. “See?”
