My Wicked Wiccy! What splendid fic you are writing! I do adore how it always seem like we're only just beginning this story.



Winna's story IS heart wrenching. Poor thing. But I could imagine how a child like that could grow into someone so… powerful. And btw – you just completely switched the atmosphere there for a moment. The way you wrote Thurman's POV really came in contrast to the rest of the fic. WOW. The first two lines after you switched back to Tayrin's POV I felt like someone switched the lights on me and my eyes needed to adjust to a sudden darkness…



And ohhh, VampBuffy?!?! I love you! I LOVE YOU!

Episode 1:

La'akalani Beach





Had he been born to earlier times, he would have been the type of man to drink rich, red wine from the skulls of his enemies, to plunder and savage lands, to destroy entire lineages with a single command, and arrive home in time to enjoy a leisurely rose-petal bath, and a cup of hibiscus tea warmed between the supple thighs of a castle maiden...he would have been the type of man that demanded absolute...



The door to Lyle Rosewood's study crept open with a tell-tale groan.



The apolegetic look of Gilda, his after hours receptionist, told him that what he was about to hear was not something that would please him.



" Mr. Rosewood....there's a phone call for you." Gilda said softly. He rubbed his eyes and blinked at the dark beyond the window. Had he been daydreaming for so long?



" I don't want any calls in here. Do you hear me?" Lyle said between his teeth.



" But it's Kaitlin Pierce. She said she wanted to talk to Miss Rosewood...but..." Gilda looked flustered. She was used to being yelled at...but the last two days, with the YOung Rosewood on the lamb...he was becoming intolerable.



Lyle sat up straight in his desk.



" Damn it. What does she want?" He hissed under his breath...reaching for the phone on his desk



He knew exactly what she wanted. To talk to Roselyn. To see how everything was going. ( code words for was he treating her right...was he being an adaquate father...) Kaitlin hated him, mistrusted him, probably blamed him for his wife's death just as much as Roselyn... and yet constantly nagged at him to be a fixture in his daughter's life.



Now that he was doing just that and hear she was pushing the damn envelope again.



Lyle lifted the receiver to his ear.



" Kate." He said, trying to sound properly annoyed...a little rushed...a little out of breath.



" Lyle." Kaitlin said, surprised to hear his voice and not her neice's. " Where's Rose?" She asked. The question sounded loaded to him. Like she was expecting him to tell her she was fine and out with friends...then she would spring on him that the little brat had taken a flight back to California and was currently under her arm back at the ranch...or wherever the hell she lived.



" She's out playing with her new little pals by the pool." He said evenly. What the hell, he had a 50/50 chance that Roselyn had not gone back to California.



" This late?" Kate said. She sounded suspicious.



" Three hours earlier here. The sun's still out for another half hour." Okay. He was lying. It was dark out there, but Kate wouldn't have a clue.



" Oh.... Okay...could you have her call me when she gets in?" Kaitlin said.



" Sure...she's going to be staying over with one of the girls from the resort...Mary (good quick thinking, Lyle)...So I'll have her call you tomorrow."



" That's fine. Just don't forget to tell her I called." She said.



" I won't." He rolled his eyes to the room.



" How are you two doing together?" Kaitlin asked.



" Like peas in a pod." He said, feeling his lips tighten on his face into a facimile of a smile. He knew she would hear it in his voice if he didn't smile.



" That's great. That's good."" She said. He wondered of she was jealous or if she just didn't believe him.



" Well, I bet that this is costing you a bundle...so I'll let you go." Lyle said, and put the phone down on the hook before recieving an answer.



Gilda stood by the door, still looking worried.



"Gilda... No...more....calls." He said tersely and lifted the reciever so that he could slam it down definitively for her... once...and then again...loud enough to make her jump.

High tide.





"This is incredible." Rosey said quietly, looking at the reflection of the moon over the dark water. Kali sat down on her own blanket on beside her and let out an explosive sigh befor settling in. She looked over the scene.



" Oh thanks...I made it myself." She said with a smile and a broad sweeping motion of her hand over the blue-lit night. Rosey snorted.



" Did you....ah...just snort?" Kali asked, incredulous.



" No. I don't snort."



" Oh...I think you snorted. What else could it have been?" Kali said.



" Dolphin." Rosey said innocently...beet red in the moonlight.



" Dolphins don't snort... They don't snore either..." Kali said under her breath.



" Now I know I DON'T snore..." Rosey said...and if it were possible...she turned another...deeper... shade of red.



" I think I'm a witness if there ever was one." Kali said earnestly.



They sat in silence for a while.



" What? Were you watching me sleep?" Rosey's voice tried to keep some of the previous humour intact, but she thought she might have sounded a little too interested in the answer.



Kali leaned back on her elbows...her legs in front of her. (look ma....no pills...) She thought to herself as she realized the pain was minimal if anything right now.



" Oh ho-ho! Turning it around on me, hmm?" She said, trying to sound steady and sure, but there was a mutinous tremor in her voice. She looked up at the stars. Rosey joined her. They sat again in companionable silence for some time.



" Are we...safe...here?" Rosey finally asked. Kali came to one elbow raised a hand to follow the patten of the stars with the tip of her finger. It was mesmerizingly set to the sound of the water nearby.



" Keoki and Lopaka are out right patrolling the area. Those surfer boys wont come back here." She said gently.



" I meant...is it safe here...." Rosey said again...still watching Kali trace the universe.



" You should have seen them...marching down the beach like coast guards on a power trip. I don't know about you...but that makes me feel pretty darn safe..." Kali continued nervously aware of being watched.



Rosey finally reached out and turned Kali's head physically to meet her gaze.



" No...I mean...is this a good time to ask....if I could...kiss you?" She said.



Kali's head was still turned to her. Her hand was still in the stars, but it HAD stopped it's tracing.

Prepare yourselves for the first-ever showing of The New Adventure Comedy Series The Late Shift starring all of your old friends...and a few new ones!



Does anybody remember the plot to the darn thing? Or better yet....where the story left off. (The troll cackles here because it would be virtually impossible to sum of that silly story)

Grimlock72…Yes, some dark thing is right. Kaitlin is Kate, Rosey’s aunt from a previous episode. He would not want his sister thinking he’s more of a beast than she already does. Plus I think a lot of the mistrust he senses from her is more of a projection of his own insecurities at looking bad.

Vic: Welcome to the Fic Showcase. I’m Your host, Vic Valor, and I’m here to discuss the upcoming Network Television premiere of The Late Shift. I have here with me in the studio, Mr. Rollo Trolloskovich. Hello Mr. Trolloskovich.



Mr. Trolloskovich: Rollo. Call me Rollo.



Vic: Rollo. Thank you. (reads notes) So let’s have a brief chat about The Late Shift.



Rollo: Yes. Let’s.



Vic: I guess the question we’re all asking right now is…why television?



Rollo: Because they offered me an obscene amount of coffee.



Vic: Coffee.



Rollo: I’m kidding Vic. It’s basically the freedom I have to express myself in my scripts. I have it in my contract that I have artistic license to put in pretty much anything I want.



Vic: I heard you were negotiating an NC-17 rating for your show.



Rollo: That’s a rumour I’d like to stop right here, Vic. It’s PG-13 with R prospects. My stuff has never been for kids…has it?



Vic: I guess not. (reads notes) So I hear you and your partner, Chica are still working together.



Rollo: I let her bring me mochas, comb the hair on my feet, and edit my work, and she gets producer credit.



Vic: What about the talk of a wedding?



Rollo: With Chica? Heavens no. She’s my friend…I let her hand out at my parties, and she pretends to be the boss…but that doesn’t make us scritched. So the answer to that is a firm no. I’m otherwise scritched.



Vic: Great. So when is the show coming out?



Rollo: Sometime this week. I’m still waiting for inspiration to strike.



Vic: Knowing you…it should be quite a writing session.



Rollo: Writing? Oh no…I have a muse. Her name is Nelly Inspiration…she sneaks into my flat with a hammer and strikes me with it. It’s a game we play.



Vic: How….sweet.



Rollo: Yeah…(sighs) Sweet.



Vic: (clears throat) So! Do you have any other shows on the horizon?



Rollo: A bawdy sex farce called Bottoms Up.



Vic: Really?



Rollo: No. I’m kidding. The Late Shift will be taking up most of my time for now. I’ll not be writing anything else for a while.



Vic: You got me there. (checks watch) Well it looks like it’s time to go. (looks to the audience) Let’s give our guest a hand.



(applause)



Vic: (shaking Rollo’s hand) Thank You for coming, Rollo.



Rollo: Thank you for having me, Vic.

Ahh, wiccachica - fun as always *G* Though I can't believe you left that there ... oh, wait - yes I can.



As for The Late Shift, here's where that was left off, in case anyone needs a refresher and doesn't have time to reread the whole thing (but, by golly, make time - what a great reread that story is *G*). I'm doing this from memory, so apologies if I've left anything out.



Tara is having a flashback to a freaky coltsfoot-inspired disco 'flashforward' look into the future with Spike as her dream guide, after waking up in a bed with Willow as the bed is being turned by Amazons and not remembering the events of the previous evening.



This whole scene, in turn, is a flashback to The Perfect Date Night in which Tara rents a boat, wins a bet, has sex with Willow a LOT, ends up stranded with Willow on a Amazon-Inhabited Island with nothing to wear but a jungle girl outfit (which is more modest than Willow's Princess Leia Gold Bikini (tm)), where Willow is taken from her by the Amazons as they prize red hair. She then whomps on the Gina Gershonicon and earns the right to participate in a long and grueling Amazon Mating Ritual that involves the aforementioned coltsfoot, a whole lot of NOT having sex, wearing red mud and maybe a few strategic feathers if you're lucky, and being hit upside the head with a very large book (which in turn causes Willow's visit to the outlet center for her emotional baggage escorted by an eight-year-old Cordelia while carrying a framed picture of Richard Nixon, and Tara's strange Willow-Mermaid dream in which she has avocado boobs).



This flashback is inspired by the currently dire situation in which Willow and Tara are in Danger's crypt with Dawn, Anya, Xander, Danger, Spike, Buffy, Tara, Tara, Prudence and Pippa, most of whom can't see or touch one another, as the gem that made the duplicate Willow's and the duplicate Tara's has fragmented and caused a ripple effect from the event horizon that makes people on different ripples out of phase with each other.



Their only recourse, if they are to successfully return to normal in time for Date Night, seems to be asking Mother or Olivia for assistance.



I seriously considered doing this in haiku or limerick, but as I should have gone to sleep an hour ago, I thought I'd skip it.

Instead of just one fic, with one cliffhanger, we have several excellent stories, with several nerve- wracking cliffhangers, and it's bad, very, very bad.



Is there any way I could persuade you to just post everything at once and put me out of my misery?



It's like being offered a tiny bite of the most delicious chocolate in the world, then being told, "You have to wait for the next taste, but the next taste will probably be completely different and quite possibly better than the first bit you had."



It's just not fair!!!
