“You mean Mister Dark Lord of the Sith, guy?” Willow said, lowering her voice to a menacing tone.



Tara looked at her quizzically…



“Oh…forgot…no Star Wars here…hehe…Duncan.”



“Yes, Duncan…”



Chapter Forty-Three



“So besides the fact that he’s ugly and cocky and I’m going to kill him the next time I see him…what’s his story?” Willow asked.



“Will…he’s dangerous…and I don’t want you anywhere near him…do you hear me?” Tara said, forcefully.



Willow was taken aback at Tara’s sudden change of emotion.



“Yeah…I kinda got that when he hit you with that big bolt of badness…but baby…you can’t expect me to just sit by and do nothing! He’s going to pay for what he did to you…and to our baby!” Willow said, her anger and protectiveness levels rising at the thought of someone threatening her wife and child. “…and who does he think he is, anyhow? He acted like he knew me or something!”



“Willow…he does know you.”



Willow felt a chill run down her spine…she wasn’t sure if it was the thought of having dealt with this dark figure before…or the tone of Tara’s voice as she said ‘Willow’…she rarely used her full name…it was always ‘Will’ or ‘Wills’ or ‘baby’ or ‘love’…



“How?” Willow said, almost afraid of what Tara’s answer would be.



Tara took a deep breath and sighed…trying to prepare herself for what she knew she had to tell Willow…she had hoped that they would not have been bothered by Duncan again…but that was not the case…



“You...we met him…before…when you were here the first time…”



“Okay...we met him...for what?”



“He was a friend of a woman named Siobbhan McCleary…the same woman who summoned Kaliphicus…”



“THE Kaliphicus? The same demi-god that killed…will kill all of my family???” Willow said, feeling the pain of loss flooding through her soul once again at the thought of losing all of them.



“Yes…the same. It was Duncan that suggested summoning Kaliphicus to Siobbhan in the first place. She was powerful…but not powerful enough to summon it on her own…Duncan helped her.”



“So what was it that he got out of it? I mean…it’s not like he just woke up one day and said ’Hey…I’ve got nothing better to do…how about I help you summon and evil demi-god!’” Willow said, babbling slightly…



“Supposedly, Duncan had made a deal with Kaliphicus…that if Kaliphicus was released and was successful in taking over, Duncan would be made immortal…and would act as his second-in-command.” Tara explained.



“…and when you and I sent Kaliphicus back to wherever it was that he came from…we kinda threw a wrench into old Duncan’s plans, eh?”



“Wrench?”



“Ooops…sorry…I mean we kind of ruined his plans…” Willow said.



“Yes…that’s exactly it.”



“Oh boy…very powerful Warlock with a grudge…not a good combination…” Willow said, wrinkling her brow.



"No...not at all..." Tara said, frowning.

“Giles...I swear to God...if you don’t drive this thing faster, I’m gonna put my foot on the accelerator myself!” Buffy said, impatiently.



“You most certainly will NOT! We’re just about there...we’re right on time.” said the Watcher.



Suddenly, Buffy’s arm shot in front of his face, pointing at a sign...



“There it is! Stonybrook Cafe...turn in here, Giles!”



“I would if you would kindly remove your arm from my face so I can see where it is that I’m turning!”



“Oh...sorry.” Buffy said, smiling sheepishly.



Giles drove the car into a parking spot, and the two walked to the entrance, opening the door and walking inside.



The cafe was quite busy...



“Hmm...must have good food!” Buffy said, noticing the crowded situation...”Good thing...I’m starving.”



“You’re always starving!”



“Hey! It’s a Slayer thing...gotta keep my strength up, you know!”



“So...how exactly are we supposed to recognize her?” asked Giles.



“Um....”



“You DID ask her to wear something specific...or sit in a certain area...or something, didn’t you?”



Buffy looked at the Watcher, smiling nervously.



“Good Lord...Buffy...how are we supposed to pick her out of this crowd?”



Buffy’s eyes scanned the room...face to face to face...finally coming to rest on a petite red-head with glasses sitting at a corner booth, her head buried in a rather large book.



“There...that’s her.” Buffy said, pointing her out to the Watcher.



“Are you sure?”



“Come on, Giles...look at her! Red hair...face buried in a book...it’s got to be her!”



“Well, then...lead the way...” Giles said, motioning for Buffy to move ahead of him.



The Slayer made her way through the crowd...stopping at the red-head’s booth.



“Logan?” Buffy asked, waiting for an answer.



The red-head looked up at her quizzically.



“Are you Logan Rosenberg-Maclay?” Giles said, trying to clear up the question a bit.



“I’m sorry...you must have the wrong person.” said the red-head.



Suddenly, Buffy felt a tap on her shoulder...she turned around, coming face-to-face with a blonde haired version of Willow...



“I think you’re looking for me...” said the blonde...

Suddenly, Buffy felt a tap on her shoulder...she turned around, coming face-to-face with a blonde haired version of Willow...



“I think you’re looking for me...” said the blonde...



Chapter Forty-five



Buffy was momentarily stunned. Standing before her was a woman about her height, with blonde hair and blue eyes...who’s features were a perfect match for Willow.



“A-are you okay?” Logan said, looking intently at the Slayer.



Giles stepped forward, his eyes keenly trained on the girl.



“Yes...she’s fine. I’m sorry...we’re just a little...well...surprised at the resemblance.”



“R-resemblance?” Logan said, nervously.



“Yes...” Giles said, not being able to keep himself from smiling at the girl. “...you look exactly like Willow...well...not exactly...the hair and your eyes are different...but...other than that...you’re the spitting image of her.”



“Well...let’s hope that looks aren’t the only thing that they have in common...” Buffy said, finally shaking herself out of the daze.



Giles motioned to an empty booth “Shall we?”



Buffy and Giles sat on one side with their backs to the wall. Both had learned through the years never to sit with their backs to the door. Logan sat across from them.



No one said anything...Giles and Buffy just sat there for a moment with grins plastered across their faces...taking in the welcome vision before them.



Her mouth...look at her mouth! Pure Wills! A little more shy than Will was back in the old days...but Wow!



Buffy thought to herself.



Good Lord...look at that widow’s peak! And those eyes...granted, their not green...but that sparkle...just like my Willow!



Giles thought, smiling.



“Um...g-guys?” Logan said, feeling rather uncomfortable being the object of such intense attention.



“What? Oh...yes...I’m so sorry...we’re just...” Giles began, only to be interrupted by Buffy.



“Hey...I’ve gotta ask you...do you like frogs?” Buffy said, her curiousity getting the best of her.



Giles looked at his charge, rolling his eyes.



“Um...no...not r-really...” Logan said, shuddering. “Hate them, actually.”



Buffy smiled, bouncing in her seat with excitement at the revelation.



“That’s so cool, Giles! She hates frogs! Just like Wills!”



“Yes...well...”



“Oh yeah...sorry...just get a bit carried away at times...”



“Oookay.” Logan said, not knowing quite what to make of the woman sitting across from her.



“So let’s get to it...here’s the deal...we need you to help us...with the mojo...” Buffy said, looking to Logan for her reaction.



“What Buffy is trying, so miserably, to say is that we would like to know if you could possibly help us...you see we’re in a bit of a jam...and although I have some power...it’s not nearly enough...we need a witch of pure lineage to help us with the magicks...”



Logan’s eyes darted back and forth between the Slayer and the Watcher...



“The magicks?” Logan said, quizzically.



The smiles on Giles’ and Buffy’s faces fell into frowns of disbelief...



“Dear Lord...she doesn’t know...”

Another teasing cliffhanger. It's shocking to see that Logan doesn't know about the magicks , but I guess it's perfectly possible that over time the family's knowledge of magic could become less and their powers thus latent. Looking forward to the next installment!

“What do you mean she doesn’t know! Of course she knows! She’s related to Wills – she HAS to know!” Buffy said in a panic.



“Buffy…please! Let’s not scare the girl! I’m sure there’s a logical explanation for this…Logan…your family doesn’t practice the Craft?”



“I remember Grandma t-talking about it when I w-was young…b-but my m-mother always said it w-was dangerous…” Logan explained.



“Well…some magic can be…dark magic, yes…but light based magic is well…safe for the most part…” Giles explained. He didn’t want to frighten the young woman…but at the same time, he didn’t want to mislead her either. Magic was a great power…and with great power comes great responsibility.



“Willow was…is a powerful witch…I can’t imagine why her family hasn’t kept up the tradition…” Buffy said, wrinkling her brow.



“Grandma s-said something about someone in our f-family having a problem with being addicted to s-something…I always assumed it was s-some sort of drug thing or s-something…but maybe s-she was talking about dark magicks.”



“Would your mother be willing to talk to us regarding our predicament?” Giles asked.



Logan looked down, her hair falling like a curtain around her beautiful face.



“M-my Mom died last y-year…but my Grandmother m-might be able to tell you s-something…”



“Would you mind if we visited her? I’m afraid any help that we can get at this point is crucial.” Giles said.



Logan smiled. “Knowing Gran, s-she’d l-love the company.”

“Great, then! How’s about we get something to go then…I’m starving! Slayer appetite…you know…” Buffy said, smiling.



“Um…Slayer?” Logan said, not having the slightest clue what a ‘Chosen One’ was…



“Oh boy…have we got a lot to tell you…” Buffy said, grabbing a menu off of the table.



Meanwhile…



“Ooops…sorry…I mean we kind of ruined his plans…” Willow said.



“Yes…that’s exactly it.”



“Oh boy…very powerful Warlock with a grudge…not a good combination…” Willow said, wrinkling her brow.



"No...not at all..." Tara said, frowning.



“I’m not going to let him hurt you, Tara…or our baby…that much I can promise you.”



“I know that, Will…you kind of already made sure of that earlier…” Tara said, giving Willow her ‘I love you but sometimes you drive me nuts’ look.



“Well…I guess I’d better get my butt in gear then…I’ve got a lot of spells to find…” Willow said, tossing the covers back and swinging her legs over the side of the bed.



“Oh no you don’t! First…breakfast…I’ll make it…we’ll eat it…then…you and I will get back to your studies…no short-cuts, Willow…I mean it.” Tara said, sternly.



“Tara! Baby…I know you don’t want me to do a bunch of spells and stuff without your training…but this is different! I have to do something NOW – he could come back any time and Goddess knows what he’ll do the next time he shows up!”



“Willow…when he shows up…I’ll be ready…he just caught me unawares. I will take care of it.”



“But…”



“No buts, Love. That is the way it’s going to be. Understand?” Tara said, squeezing Willow’s hand and looking deeply into those intense Emerald orbs.



“I understand…” Willow said, hesitantly.



She thinks she can handle this all on her own! I’ll be damned if I’m going to let her put herself and our child in danger…she’s getting my help whether she likes it or not! What she doesn’t know won’t hurt her…
