Chapter Thirty-nine
The two Slayers stood in line at the local Mickey D’s, waiting to place their order for breakfast after a long night of staking…
“So you’re serious…breakfast is on you?” Buffy said, looking at Faith.
“This IS a date…right?” said the dark Slayer.
“If you’re paying, it is!” Buffy laughed.
“Well…then go ahead, B…order whatever you like…after all, this is officially our ‘first date’ and all…”
“Oooh…Mickey D’s…you’re quite the charmer, aren’t you?” Buffy said, teasing Faith. She knew exactly which buttons to push to make the dark Slayer squirm.
“I try.”
Just then, a small, geeky-looking boy stepped up to the counter.
“Welcome to McDonalds, may I take your order?”
“Let’s see…I’ll have two Sausage McMuffins with Egg…two Egg McMuffins, no cheese, extra Canadian bacon…three of those new McGriddles…six hash browns and six OJ’s.”
“Geezus, B…are you sure you didn’t forget anything?” Faith said, sarcastically…not believing how much the petite girl was ordering.
“Oh! Yeah…you’re right! How could I forget? We’ll need this to go. Faith, honey – what did you want?” she said, innocently.
The dark Slayer stood slack-jawed in amazement.
How in the hell is she going to eat all of that? I hope to God her metabolism never catches up to her! Geesh!
“Um…I’ll have two number fours.”
“Okay…that’s two number fours, two sausage McMuffins with egg, two egg McMuffins, no cheese, extra Canadian bacon, three McGriddles, six hashbrowns and six OJ’s. Can I get you anything else with that?”
“Geezus, kid! Don’t you think that’s enough?” Faith said, somewhat scaring the young man. She threw a couple of twenties on the counter.
Minutes later, the pair walked out, toting several bags of greasy-goodness with them.
“I can’t believe you thought I was going to eat all of this!”
“Well…how was I supposed to know you were going to order something for the rest of the gang?”
“I just thought it would be nice and all…they’ve been with Will all night…” Buffy’s demeanor suddenly became more morose.
Faith noticed the change of tone “Don’t worry, B. Red’s gonna be okay. She’s a tough one…she’ll make it through this…and so will you.”
Meanwhile…
Anya sat at Willow’s laptop, dutifully searching through all of the databases available, trying to locate any of Willow and Tara’s family…
“Wait! I think I’ve got something!!! There’s a woman named Logan Rosenberg-Maclay that lives in Los Angeles…it looks like she’s their great-great-great granddaughter…”
Just then, Buffy and Faith walked into the room.
“Hey! We come bearing greasy-goodness! Now what’s this about somebody’s great-great-great whatever?” Buffy said, sitting the grease soaked bags on the table.
“I think it would be best if you sat down…” Giles said, removing his glasses and kerchief from his pocket, rubbing the lenses.
Uh-oh…he’s all with the cleaning glasses…this can’t be good…
