Summary-Willow is forced into acting the part of a Princess, and Tara has to come and rescue her.
Notes-I love feedback.Thank you Laragh, Zampsa and AmberGoddess.
Willow raised her voice. "Mother, are you going to let them throw one of my servants into a dungeon like that?"
Queen Yocasta came over and looked at them. "Sarah, you had better have a good reason for doing what you're doing."
"Your Majesty, she is a thief. I was tipped off that she was stealing from my room."
The Queen looked at Tara, and then at Willow. "What is she said to have stolen?," she asked.
"A silver spoon."
"Let's compromise. She will be watched closely until after the wedding, and then we'll find out if she's guilty or not. If indeed guilty, she will have her right hand chopped off. But if not, Sarah, you and I will have to have a serious talk. Yes, she may be one of the... lower orders but that does not mean you can falsely accuse people on a whim. You'll make people frightened to seek employment here, and I want to be seen as a good Queen, not someone who randomly has my servants mutilated."
Lower orders?!! She's the love of my life, the perfect girlfriend and my wife to be Willow thought, but knew better then to openly contradict the Queen.
"Now, my darling daughter, it's time to get your bridal dress on. So go to your room and get ready." Willow and Tara did what they were told, with Sarah's guards waiting outside.
Once they were alone, they hugged each other and kissed each other passionatly on the lips. "What are we going to do?," Tara asked. "You could probebly escape quite easily..."
"Not without you," Willow said.
"They'll make you drink that horrible potion and you'll forget me and love that prince instead. And then they'll drag me away and cut off my hand..." Tara was almost in tears at the thought of losing her soulmate.
"I won't do it. You had better help me get dressed or they will wonder why we are taking so long."
Tara helped Willow into a beautiful white pala dress of white silk which was embroidered with thousands of creamy white seed pearls, and placed silver bracelets and earrings upon her. Next came the crown of white lilies, and finally, reluctantly, Willow placed a golden Come-Man-Come amulet in the shape of a male figure around her neck. What if I can’t avoid taking that potion? She imagined having her love for Tara extinguished, replaced for love for a prince. She would live in luxury for the rest of her life, bear royal children, but would never see Tara again, never lie in bed beside her or kiss her or cuddle her. I won’t let that happen to me.
“Willow, you look so beautiful…but…”
“Don’t worry, Tara, I will find a way to get us both safely home.”
There was a knock on the door. “They are waiting in the Royal Temple. It’s time for you to make your grand entrance.”
The Royal Temple was a grand place, lined with the rare mahogany and the even rarer pico wood. Embedded in the floor were the green jade slabs that marked where the Queens of Vallermoore lay buried. There were windows of beautiful stained glass depicting former Queens, and at the altar was a golden noose symbol, representing Holy Inana, and two
En priests in their scarlet robes, golden noose necklaces around their necks. And on the altar was a golden goblet filled with wine that Willow knew was laced with a love potion.
Prince Michael was waiting for her, in the blue uniform of an Admiral of the Karnivhalian Fleet, gold braid at his wrists and golden eppulettes at his shoulders, a sabre at his side. Queen Yocasta sat in the front row with Sarah and other high ranking courtiers around her, and the Temple was packed with noblemen and their wives.
The eldest priest took up the goblet in both hands. "We are here in the presence of Holy Inana to unite these two, Princess Sarah of Vallermoore and Prince Michael of Karnivhal in holy matrimony for the rest of their lives. Please, take, drink."
Holy Inana, please forgive me for what I am about to do Willow thought as she took the goblet from him.
