Chapter Thirty-two



Faith was the first to break from the embrace…herself now feeling a bit overwhelmed.



“What’s the matter?” Buffy asked.



“Nothing…I mean…I’ve run this whole scenario over and over in my mind a million times…you know what I’d say…what I’d do…but I never…you know…”



“What?”



“I never thought it would go this…well…good.”



“What did you think was going to happen?”



“Honestly? I thought you’d probably be beating the shit out of me right now.” Faith said, looking down at the ground.



“A- HA! So you finally admit that I can take you!” Buffy said, laughing.



“That’s NOT what I meant, B….I just didn’t think you’d be this…receptive to the whole thing…me liking you…as…more than a friend.”



“Why? Because you’ve only seen me dating guys?”



“Well…yeah…hello!”



“Yeah…I can see what you mean…but you know…I’m not saying that I didn’t have fun with Angel and Riley and all…I did…and I care about both of them a lot…but something was always missing…you know what I mean?”



“Kind of…”



“It’s like…I really cared a lot about them…maybe even loved them…but I always knew that if they weren’t there…I’d be okay. I could live without them…I didn’t really NEED them…”



Faith thought about it…she knew exactly what Buffy was talking about. She, herself had been with several people…men and women…it was fun…but it always left her feeling like something was lacking…



“…and what about me…do you need me?”



“Can’t you tell? Faith…you’re the only one that really, truly understands…”



“Yeah…that’s exactly how I feel, B.”



“But this…it’s all kinda new…so can we just kinda…take it slow?”



“We can take it however you want it…and...incidentally...you cannot kick my ass..." Faith said with a grin, lighly kicking Buffy's backside...



Meanwhile…



Giles and Xander had retrieved any possibly pertinent material that they could find at the Magic Box and had hurried back to Willow’s…



Xander was the first in the door.



“An…hon…how is she?”



“She’s still the same…nothing has changed.”



Just then, Giles entered the door, carrying a large box of books and sitting them on the table.



“Any change?”



“Nothing…” Xander answered.



“Well…I think the best thing that we can do right now is to continue looking through these texts for any references to Kaliphicus…and to this ‘white witch’…Tara.”



“Is there anything else that we can do for her? I mean…shouldn’t we be covering her up with a nice snuggly blanket to keep her warm…or something?”



Anya could tell that Xander was feeling a bit helpless…



“That would be a nice gesture, Xander…it really would. But knowing how these things work…it’s probably best that we just leave her the way she is. You don’t want to break that casting plane…remember?”



“Yeah…you’re right…research it is…” he said, grabbing a couple of the books and handing one to Anya as they sat down at the table, settling in for another long night of reading…

Hey, Cin!! I just finished your last two updates and...well, it seems I have a lot feedback to catch up with, don't I? Bad me!! I'm gonna give myself a good !!

Chapter Thirty-three



“Do you think it’s safe?” Willow said, looking inside the cottage.



“It looks like it’s pretty well cleared up…smells a little smoky in here, though.” Tara said, as they walked inside.



She turned around, looking at her love…her Willow, who was now standing in front of her, stark naked, covered head-to-toe in mud. Her lips were turning blue, and she was beginning to shiver…



“Oh, baby…you’re freezing!”



“Just a l-little…” she said, trying not to shiver.



“You never have been able to stand the cold…come here, baby…let’s get you cleaned up warm you by the fire…”



Willow looked at Tara…even covered with mud, she was still the most beautiful woman she had ever seen.



“W-what about you? Aren’t y-you cold?”



“I’m chilly…but not that bad…” she said, taking a large pot down from the shelf and filling it with water. She put it over the fire to warm. “It will only take a few minutes to warm this up.”



“Mmmm-kay…”



Tara was right…it didn’t take long. She poured the water into a basin, dropping in some oils that she had on the shelf.



“What’s t-that?” Willow asked.



“Just a little something to soothe those tense muscles of yours…”



“Smells n-nice…”



Tara dipped a sponge into the water, dampening it. She started at Willow’s brow, gently wiping the mud from face…tenderly, lovingly, inch-by-inch working her way down her small frame…



Willow had never felt so loved…so completely cherished in her entire life.



“What did I ever do to deserve this…not that I’m complaining, mind you…but it’s not every day that I have this incredibly gorgeous, sexy woman offer to bathe me…”



Tara looked deep into Willow’s eyes “You came back to me…my Willow…my wife.”



Just the sound of those words together... ‘my wife’... made Willow swell with love…and pride…knowing that this remarkable woman…this angel of love…chose her above all others, to be her's for all eternity.



Willow reached over, taking the sponge from Tara…



“What are you doing?”



“I’m going to take care of my wife…the way she deserves to be taken care of…the way that I should have been taking care of her all along…”



She changed the water, putting a few more drops of oil into it…rinsing the sponge, she turned to Tara…gently wiping the grime from her face…replacing it with a trail of soft kisses…



“But, Will…you’re freezing…and tired…and…”



Willow placed a finger over Tara’s pouty lips…



“Shhhh…I’m fine. Just relax…”



Relax…Goddess, it’s been so long since I could just relax…feel safe…



“I don’t know how difficult it must have been for you…when I was…when I left.” Willow said, feeling ashamed that she could have ever left Tara behind. “All that I know is…now that I’ve found you…I can’t imagine ever being without you…and when I think of how you must have felt…” she took a deep breath, letting it out with a sigh “…well…let’s just say, I’m going to spend the rest of my life making it all up to you…showing you how much I love you…how much I need you…and I’ll never leave you again…”



A chill ran up the blonde witch's spine...



“Please don’t make promises that you can’t keep…”

Chapter Thirty-four







Don’t make promises you can’t keep…



The statement echoed through Willow’s head…Tara was right…she couldn’t keep that promise. She would have to go back…or Buffy, Xander, Giles, Anya…all of them would be dead…again…and she would be doomed to a life of loneliness. But how could she leave Tara…the love of her life? Not having Tara would be like not having air…she couldn’t survive without her…and yet, she had somehow found the strength to do so before…



“I don’t want to leave you, Tara…ever…”



Tara looked at her, tears in her eyes, but with great understanding…



“I know, love…I know…but you have a mission…WE have a mission…”



“But this isn’t fair! How can the goddess expect me to choose between my friends and my love…my everything!”



Tara took the red-head’s small hands in hers “…please…can we just not think about it tonight…please, Willow…just hold me…show me how much you love me…make me your wife again…”



Willow looked into those deep Sapphire eyes…so filled with love…with want…with pain…she could refuse this woman nothing…



As Willow took her into her arms…lowering her to the bed…beginning what would be an endless night of love and passion…Tara thought to herself…



Willow…forgive me for what I’m about to do…but if I can’t have you…then at least let me have a part of you for me to love and keep forever…



“I love you, Tara…” Willow said…pressing her lips to Tara’s in a passionately deep, hungry embrace…



“Wil-low…” Tara said breathlessly “…will you give me all of you…give me your heart…your soul…?”



“Everything…all…yours…” Willow said, the words bringing her body to a fevered pitch.



“Say it…” Tara whispered.



“Tara…I give you my heart…my soul…my everything…”



With those words…the two Wiccans fell into the throws of passion…neither of them noticing the soft glow that now emanated from their bodies as they melded into one…lifting gently from the confines of the soft bedding below them…





Meanwhile…





“So…when you said ‘take it slow’…just exactly what did you mean?” Faith asked Buffy as the two of them walked along the outskirts of what was definitely one of the more ‘seedy’ sections of Sunnydale.



“I don’t know…I mean…just let’s kinda…date…you know?” Buffy said, really not sure what she was meaning herself.



“So what do you consider a date?”



“Um…well…the usual…you…me…spending quality time together…doing something we both like to do…alone…”



“So…this is kind of our ‘first date’ then…isn’t it?”



The blonde Slayer stopped, putting her hands on her hips and looking at Faith with a smirk on her face…



“Slaying? You consider slaying a date?”



“Well…you said quality time…that could mean quality slaying time…I mean…it is something that we both …well…excel at…and we both like it…don’t tell me you don’t, B.”



She’s got me there…



“Okay…I’ll tell you what…you buy me dinner after we get done…and I’ll consider it our ‘official first date’…okay?”



“Don’t you think we should get back to check on Red?” Faith said…somewhat confused…



“Definitely…ever heard of take-out?”



“You drive a hard bargain, B….but I think I can handle it!”



Buffy took the dark Slayer’s hand in hers, pulling her to her chest…



“Good…I’m glad.” She said, pressing her lips to Faiths once more…

The Willow/Tara interaction here is wonderful. I''m definitely intrigued by the glowiness, too. Elsewhere, the Buffy/Faith development you have is great. I love the idea of a 'slay-date', and it's great to see them coming together.

Willow slowly opened her eyes...she had slept so heavily that she didn’t think she had moved from the warmth of Tara’s embrace all night long. She gazed up at the still sleeping blonde. There was something different about her...she had always been breathtakingly beautiful...however, now she seemed to be positively glowing...



She laid there for a while...watching Tara...



My Sleeping Beauty...could you possibly be any more enchanting? Maybe I could awaken you with a kiss...



The temptation was too much...Willow leaned in, gently brushing her lips against Tara’s...



“Mmmm...Willow?” Tara said, sleepily.



“Good morning, my Sleeping Beauty...” Willow whispered. “Do you know how beautiful you are...just laying there so peacefully...”



Tara smiled...blushing...



“I’m serious...you are the most beautiful woman in the entire world...and your mine!” Willow said, beaming with pride.



Tara reached up...cupping Willow’s face in her soft hand...



“All yours...always yours...” Tara purred.



Willow looked at Tara again...there was something different about her...she couldn’t quite put her finger on it...but she was different, Willow was sure of it...



“Baby...are you feeling okay?”



“I feel wonderful...a little sleepy...but wonderful...” Tara said...stretching luxuriously...



“Okay...hey...I had the wildest dream last night...”



“Really? What was it about?” Tara asked.



“It was...well...you and I were making love...and it was wow! I mean...wonderful...which it always is...but there was something different this time...something deeper...if that’s possible...and...this is where it gets really weird...but we were floating while we were...you know...” Willow blushed.



“Really? That’s...umm...i-interesting...” Tara said, her eyes looking away from Willow’s.



The action did not go unnoticed.



“That was a dream...wasn’t it...Tara?”





Meanwhile...





“Okay...I’ve got something here about this white witch...Tara...” Anya said...pointing to a paragraph on the page of the ancient text that she was perusing.



“What’s it say, honey?” Xander asked, leaning over Anya’s shoulder.



“It says here that she was a white witch of great power...an expert in elemental magicks.”



“What’s that mean?” Xander asked.



“It means that she was a master at manipulating the elements...earth, wind, fire, and water.” Giles explained.



“Oh...nifty!”



Anya continued “...again...it talks about her teaming up with the red-witch...”



The former vengeance-demon’s eyes widened suddenly as the words on the page started to change before her very eyes...



Xander noticed the look immediately “...An? Honey? What’s wrong?”



“The...the words! They just changed...right in front of me!”



“What are you talking about? Words changing...”



“Yes! Words changing! Did I stutter? They changed...right here on the page...right while I was reading them!”



“What does it say now?” Giles asked.



“It says that the white witch and the red witch had offspring.”



“Offspring? You mean...they had a baby?” Xander asked, in amazement. “How in the heck could they possibly do that?”



“Elemental magick is very powerful...I don’t doubt that they could accomplish something such as this...” Giles said.



“Holy moly...a baby...” Xander’s mind was swimming.



“Wait a second...this could be good! This could be very good! If Willow and Tara had a baby...and that child had offspring of it’s own...it’s possible that we could get one of their descendants to help with Kaliphicus...you know...two witches are better than one!” Anya said, smiling...obviously proud of herself...



“An...honey...there’s no way...”



“Well...actually, Xander...she may have something there...”

Chapter Thirty-six



Tara didn’t like lying to Willow…she hated it. It went against everything she felt in her soul…but at the same time, she wanted this so much…She knew that Willow would leave her again, even though she didn’t want to, it was her fate. She had to go. At least this time…Tara would not be left alone…



“Everything with you is a d-dream…” Tara said, cryptically.



Something wasn’t right…Willow could tell that Tara was holding something back…



“Baby…is something wrong? Because you know you can tell me anything…”



“Everything’s fine! S-seriously! It’s all good…”



“Then why are you stuttering again all of a sudden?” Willow asked, concerned.



“I’m n-not stuttering! Why are you asking all of these questions all of a sudden?” Tara pushed Willow’s arm from her chest, and got up out of the bed, reaching for her robe.



“Tara…wait! I was just…”



“I’ve go to go out and get some wood for the fire…” Tara said, sharply, heading for the door. She reached down, turning the knob and opening the door, stopping suddenly when she saw what was waiting on the other side…



“You…” Tara said. Willow could hear the fear in her voice and rose out of the bed quickly, the hackles rising like quills on the back of her neck.



The tall raven-haired man’s eyes darted to the motion in the room, making contact with Willow in an instant.



“Well…who have we here, witch?” the man growled.



“You know very well who she is…now leave us alone!”



“Well little one…” he sneered “…this is a pleasant surprise…I didn’t expect to see you back here!”



This is not good! She’s scared…she’s really scared! I’ve got to do something!



“Oh yeah? Well…I’ll bet you didn’t expect this, either!” she said…raising her hands, uttering “Infernus Inferno!” As she did, a fireball jetted towards the dark stranger…



He smiled, putting up his hand, absorbing the energy within his grasp. “Did you really think it would be that easy, little one?”



Ok, Rosenberg…got anything else stupid up your sleeve that you’d like to hurl at the nasty man? Geesh!



Tara’s eyes opened wide, flames rising amongst her Sapphire eyes…



“Leave Duncan!” She reached in the small pot on the cupboard, grasping a handful of it’s contents…



“Not so fast, witch!” He said…raising his hands…shooting a green bolt of energy towards Tara…hitting her in the midsection, sending her crumpling to the floor.



“TARA! NO!” Willow screamed, running to her side.



Tara tossed the salt from her hand towards the warlock, yelling “Be gone! You have no power here!”



The salt burned like acid against his leathery skin as he hissed “See you soon!” and disappeared in a puff of smoke.



Willow put her arms around Tara, helping her up. She winced with the movement.



“Tara…honey…are you okay? What can I do? What did he do to you?”



Tara grasped her stomach, pain coursing through her abdomen, uttering one thing “…the…baby.” before collapsing into Willow’s arms.
