Hey all,
Sorry it has been so long. Thanks as always for the fabulous feedback. I had to cut this chapter a little short, the next one should be longer and if all goes as planned it should be posted tomorrow.

Anyway on to the update...

Chapter 19

After talking with Mr. Anderson Tara made her way to the cafeteria she saw Willow and Cordelia at a booth talking. She furrowed her brow, it was kind of odd Cordelia would be seen with Willow, much less actually having a conversation with the girl. As she approached she caught part of their conversation.

“I just don’t know what to do.” Cordelia was saying.

“Well I’m always from the philosophy of…Hey Tara.” Willow said spotting the blond. Cordelia’s head whipped around quickly and eyed Tara.

“Hey Tare.”

“Hi, what cha guys doing?”

“Just talking.” Willow replied.

“Yeah I’m gonna go talk to Dave.” Cordelia said before getting up and walking away. Tara took Cordelia’s now vacated seat across from Willow.

“What were you guys talking about?” Tara asked.

“Nothing much, just random things you know.” Willow said a little nervous.

Tara made a mental note of this, but let Willow off the hook. “How are you feeling?” She asked.

“Fine, I just kind of wanna forget about it you know. It really was no big deal.” Willow said shrugging.

“It was a big deal, but if you want to forget about it I won’t bring it up.” Tara said with sincerity.

Willow smiled, it seemed as though Tara would give her anything she asked, and she knew she would do the same. “I kind of feel stupid about the whole thing you know.”

“You shouldn’t Oz was the stupid one.” Tara said.

“I know, but maybe I was leading him on. I mean I don’t think so, I made it pretty clear I was gay and we were dating.” Willow blushed at the last part. “I don’t know what got into him, it’s just so unlike Oz to be like that.”

“Have you seen him today?”

“No, but I probably won’t until lunch.” Willow dreaded seeing Oz because of the potential weirdness that would ensue.

“Did you still want to come over tonight?” Tara questioned.

“Oh yes. Yes I sill want to do that. I don’t want to let what happened with Oz ruin my plans.” Willow enthusiastically said.

The bell for class rang and both girls groaned.

“Off hours always go so fast.” Tara said picking up her backpack. “So I’ll see you around 7?” She said standing up from the table.

Willow followed her lead. “Yep.”

Tara looked at the bright green eyes that seemed to dance before her. She didn’t know how she would have reacted in a situation like that of last night, but Willow seemed to bounce back from it pretty quickly. Willow seemed pretty care free and didn’t let things get her down, it was one of the reasons Tara was so attracted to her. Tara turned around to go to class before she heard Willow say.

“Hey!”

Tara turned to see a full on Willow pout.

“No kisses?” She asked in a child like tone.

Tara smiled and walked back to Willow. “You are adorable, do you know that?” Before pulling her close and planting a chaste kiss on her lips. For a moment noise of the students seemed to fade away and they were left in a world where only the two of them existed. The two separated and went off to class.

Willow walked outside for lunch and found Xander sitting at their tree. She was a little nervous about seeing Oz again, but was a little relieved to see he wasn’t at the tree.

“Hey Xand.”

“Hey, so what’s up with you and Oz?” He asked before Willow could even sit down.

“What do you mean?”

“Well he said he wanted to talk with you last night and then he was being all avoidy today, said he was going to go home for lunch.”

“Is that why you weren’t at Oz’s house last night?” Willow asked, now filling in the pieces of the puzzle.

“Yeah, he said he had something he needed to talk to you about and asked if I could make myself scarce.”

“Yeah talk.” Willow snorted.

“What happened?”

“He like totally freaked out. Said he wanted to make love to me, it was pretty freaky actually. I have never seen him like that, he all but blocked me in his room saying no one could love me like he could and all this other weirdness.” Willow visibly shivered at the thought.

“That doesn’t sound like Oz.”

“I know, I guess that’s probably why he is being all avoidy.” Willow said before she saw Matt and Eric walking over.

“Don’t tell anyone Xander please?”

“Sure Wil, I got your back.”

“So guess what?” Eric said as he walked over.

“What?” Willow played along.

“My parents are taking off for a week during Homecoming.”

“Dude that is so cool.” Xander said.

“So of course I have to throw an after Homecoming party so invite whoever you want. I want it to be huge.” Eric said as she sat down and started eating.

“Sweet, I’ll ask Tara if she wants to go.”

“You going to homecoming with her?” Matt asked.

“Well not officially, but I’m pretty sure we’re going together.” Willow said. “What about you?”

“I was thinking about asking Kristin.”

“Kristin the flute player?” Xander asked.

“Yeah, she’s pretty hot right.”

“Totally.” Willow said she felt like Matt was trying to compete with her in the hot girlfriend category. As if he could win, I’m dating the most stunningly gorgeous girl in the whole world.

Willow pulled up to Tara’s house. She was nervous to say the least, she had never done the whole meet the parents thing. Most of her other girlfriends were never that invested. She reached over and grabbed the brownies she had made and a bouquet of roses for Tara. She fumbled with her things trying to lock the door on her car, and almost lost the pan of brownies. She made it up to the door with out incident and took a deep breath and rang the doorbell.

Inside the house Tara’s father sat on the couch reading until the doorbell rang. He jumped up and yelled “I’ll get it!”, although no one was around. Secretly he was very excited to see the girl who had stolen her daughters heart. He opened the door to reveal a tiny redhead who looked more nervous than he had ever seen anyone.

“Hi um…Mr. MaClay, I’m Willow.”

“Hi Willow, please come in.” He said ushering the girl in the house. He noticed the roses and smiled. His wife came from around the kitchen to greet her guest.

Willow noticed her too and greeted “Hi Mrs. MaClay, I’m Willow. I made these for dessert.” She said thrusting the pan out in her hands.

Tara’s mom smiled and remembered how nervous Don was meeting her parents. The girl was definitely cute, she wore a long print skirt and a nice blouse that matched.

“Hi Willow, thanks for baking those, that was really sweet. And you can call me Benazir, and that’s Don.” She said pointing to her husband.

“Benazir, is that a family name?”

“Gosh I don’t think so. I never really thought about it. I lost my mother at an early age and never had the chance to ask.” Tara’s mom said contemplating her name.

“Oh it just seems like a middle eastern name with Benazir Bhutto and all.” Willow said trying not to babble.

“Benazir Bhutto?” Tara’s mom questioned.

“Oh yeah she was the Pakistani Prime Minister up until 1996. She chaired the Pakistan Peoples Party. She was elected in 1988, but then 20 months later was removed by the president on alleged corruption charges. Then in 1993 she was re-elected, but again removed in 1996 on similar charges. She went into exile in Dubai in 1998, that was the last I’ve heard of her.” Willow paused. “It’s kind of interesting if you’re a total nerd.” Willow said under her breath. “Sorry.” She apologized.

Tara’s parents stood a little stunned at Willow’s knowledge of Middle Eastern politics.

“Why be sorry, that’s quite an impressive body of knowledge.” Don said.

“I for one had no idea about her. I’m glad you told me.” Benazir said.

“I think she’s pretty much a genius.” Tara said watching the exchange from the stairs. All three turned towards her.

Willow was about to refute the allegations she was a genius until she saw Tara. She was wearing jeans that did nothing to hide her gorgeous body and a tight silk blue shirt that brought out her eyes.

“You look breath taking.” Willow said walking toward the stairs as Tara descended from them. The parents were all but forgotten as the two came together at the base of the staircase.

“You too, you look good in a skirt.” Tara said noticing her parents had moved back a little to give them some room, but hadn’t completely vacated the premises.

“Oh, these are for you.” Willow said remembering the roses she still had in her hands.

“They’re beautiful, thank you.” Tara said taking the roses and bringing them to her nose.

“I was kind of hoping you would go to the homecoming dance with me?” Willow asked holding her breath as her heart pounded. She was certain she had sweated through her clothes and looked a disgusting mess.

Tara’s heart leapt in her chest. It wasn’t like she didn’t think they would go together, but it still made her pulse race all the same. “Of course I will darling.” She said finally closing the gap and hugging the tiny girl.

Willow let out a breath and for the first time felt somewhat comfortable as she returned the hug.

Tara’s parents stood by smiling at the exchange before Benazir pulled Don into the kitchen to give the girls some privacy.

As promised here is the next chapter.

Enjoy.

Chapter 20
“I hope you like pot roast Willow.” Tara’s mom said as she started bringing items to the table.

“Oh yes that’s fine.” Willow was still feeling a little nervous about dinner, but her fears were somewhat put to ease when Tara accepted her invitation to the dance.

Willow and Don sat at the table while Tara and her mom brought out the rest of dinner, complete with Willow’s roses as the centerpiece.

“So Willow, Tara tells me you are in most of the AP classes in school.” Don said trying to put the tiny girl at ease.

“Yes I am.”

“You must be pretty smart then?”

“Um, not really, I think I just took all these classes at my old school.”

“Where did you used to live?” Benazir asked as she sat down next to Don and Tara took her place next to Willow.

“Sunnydale California. It’s a small town outside of Mountain View.”

“Ahh yes tech capital of the world huh. I should have guessed.” Don said and Tara threw him a scolding look.

“So you know who my dad is huh?” Willow said taking some green beans from the bowl and putting them on her plate.

“Yeah, sorry to bring it up.”

Willow waved it off. “It’s ok. I just don’t really want kids at school to know. They tend to want to be your friend because of who your dad is. I just didn’t want to get into that here.”

“It’s understandable.” Tara said reaching over and rubbing Willow’s thigh.

Willow tried to hold back a sigh at the contact, and looked over at Tara with her silent thanks.

Benazir watched the two girls interact and found herself smiling. “So Willow, have you given any thought into college.”

“Well I always wanted to go to MIT. I don’t really know why, I just always found myself drawn to it.” Willow looked over at Tara and had a sinking feeling in her stomach. If she was at MIT where would Tara be, it was too soon to think about it, and she didn’t want to, but the thought of leaving Tara after this year cut through her like a knife. She quickly tried to put it out of her mind. There was plenty of time to think about that later.

Benazir seemed to understand what was going on, even if the girls didn’t. She had always had sort of a sixth sense when it came to her daughter and her daughters interaction with others.

Don completely oblivious kept the line of questioning going. “What do you think you want to major in?”

“Um…well I was thinking of engineering, or maybe something in aerospace. I haven’t really decided. I mean the first year is just pre-requisites anyway right so I have some time.”

“That’s quite ambitious of you, I hope you can stick to it. Tara here hasn’t even decided where she wants to go.” Don said poking fun at his little girl.

“Hey I know I want to be a teacher, does it really matter what school I go to?”

Willow turned her head hearing the news from Tara. “You want to be a teacher?” She asked amazed.

“Yeah, kind of lame huh?”

“No I think it’s awesome. I think you would make a great teacher.” Willow said with sincerity, causing Tara to blush. “I hear UNC has a great teaching program.” Willow added taking another bite of potato.

“Ahh my old alma mater.” Benazir said. “I would love if Tara went there, plus it would keep her closer to home.”

“Mom it’s like a year away, don’t get premature empty nest syndrome, you still have to put up with me all year.”

“I know, I know.” She said trying to wipe the tears that had formed in her eyes.

“That was some performance the band did at the homecoming football game.” Don said swinging the conversation in a new direction.

“Thank you.” Willow said.

“It was Willow’s idea, she created the whole percussion piece.” Tara interjected. She desperately wanted her parents to know how wonderful Willow was.

“Well not really, I mean I didn’t write the music, I just manipulated it so it fit for the line.” Willow tried waving off Tara’s praise.

“I certainly have never seen the crowd get into anything the band is doing, so great job Willow.”

This time it was Willow who blushed.

The rest of dinner went much of the same. The girls found themselves in Tara’s bedroom after offering to help with the dishes and getting shooed out of the kitchen by Tara’s parents.

Willow sat on the bed with her back against the wall, while Tara lay on her back with her head in Willow’s lap.

“Your parents are really cool.” Willow said while running her fingers through Tara’s hair.

“Yeah they kind of are.” Tara said not opening her eyes and enjoying Willow’s touch.

“Wow just think a week from Saturday we’ll be at the homecoming dance.”

Tara opened her eyes to judge Willow’s reaction. “Are you nervous?”

“No, not really. Maybe a little. I’ve just never been to a dance, with anyone before. I mean at my old school we all kind of went as a group you know. How about you?”

“I went last year with this girl Faith. She moved away last year, Buffy hooked us up, she wasn’t really my type, like at all. It was fun I guess, but kind of weird. We dated for a while after that, but we weren’t good for eachother” Tara said resting her head back on Willows lap. Willow continued her hand movements in Tara’s hair while both girls remained silent enjoying each others company.

“You are really beautiful you know that?” Willow questioned after staring at Tara for quite some time.

“Yeah maybe on the outside.”

“No.” Willow said stopping her hand and gaining Tara’s full attention. “Beautiful on the inside too.” Willow said as Tara moved to a sitting position beside her. Willow moved her hand to Tara’s heart. “You have this great big heart and you give a piece of it to everyone that you meet. People can’t help but like you. You don’t find that too often, but Tara you are truly beautiful inside and out.”

Tara felt her heart stop and then start again, this time pounding blood through out her body. She needed to feel Willow with the utmost urgency. She literally pounced on Willow and knocked her back on the bed before descending and taking control of the redhead’s mouth. Willow was surprised, but quickly caught on and moved her hands to Tara’s waist and pulled the blond more fully on top of her. They toyed with each others tongues and Willow found her hands on Tara’s firm ass. She thought she was in heaven as she squeezed and pulled the blond towards her. She felt the temperature rising in her body and a nice feeling settle between her legs. She pulled away before anything could escalate. Tara was glad Willow pulled away seeing as she had no intention of stopping, but they really needed to.

Willow caught her breath and looked up at Tara, her blond hair fell around Willow’s face and her blue eyes looked at her with longing. “I think I should head home.” Willow said wanting to do anything but that.

Tara nodded too caught up in the emotion to say anything. She moved off of Willow and helped her up from the bed. They descended the stairs hand in hand and stopped off at Benazir’s office.

“Thanks for dinner Benazir, it was wonderful.” Willow said making her exit.

“Anytime Willow, have a good night.” She said turning in her chair.

The girls walked past the living room where Don sat reading a magazine.

“Bye Don, thanks for dinner.” Willow remarked as they past by.

“Bye Willow, don’t be a stranger.”

Tara led Willow to the front door where Willow opened it and turned around. “Good night Darling, sleep well.” Willow said bringing her hand up to run through Tara’s hair. Willow was finding that was one of her favorite things to do with the blond, run her fingers through her silken hair.

Tara looked at Willow and saw love in her eyes and it nearly caused her to fall over. It was unmistakable, and she felt love mirrored in her own. “Good night Sweetie, drive safe.” Tara managed to say as she leaned in for a quick good night kiss.

Tara shut the door and leaned against it sighing. She pulled herself off the door and went to her mom’s office.

“Hey am I interrupting?” She asked.

“Nope, just surfing.” Her mom said and turned around in her chair to give Tara her full attention. Tara sat down in the adjacent chair, but didn’t say anything. “So Willow seems really nice.” She said hoping to get her daughter to talk.

“Yeah she is. She’s wonderful, so kind and smart, gorgeous beyond anything I ever imagined I would have. I…I think I’m in love with her.” There it was; Tara finally had said it out loud. It scared her that she could feel something so quickly for someone else and desperately needed to talk about it.

Benazir had no doubt about how the two girls felt about each other, she saw as much this evening. But she was determined to play devils advocate, which was what her daughter always needed. “Gosh, that’s pretty quick are you sure it isn’t just some crush?”

“I know it’s quick, and that’s what’s freaky. I mean, I’ve never felt this way about anyone. I mean never, not even close. I feel as though I would rather die than see her hurt, and I would do anything in the world to make her happy. My heart nearly stops when she looks at me, and when she touches me I feel like my blood is on fire.”

“You sure it’s not just teenage hormones, I remember being a teenager and it’s a confusing time.”

“I just don’t feel complete with out her. I go through the day, and it’s just motion, like my body is just there waiting for the next time I can see her again. I don’t want to freak her out though, I might lose her if she knew how into her I am.”

“I kind of doubt Willow would do that. Plus I think she’s pretty into you too.” Benazir said caving under the pressure, she could only keep up the façade for so long.

“I hope so. I’m not ready to tell her though. I want the timing to be perfect.”

“I’m sure you’ll know it when it happens, and it will be great.”

“So you really like her?”

“I do, I think she is wonderful.” Benazir reassured her daughter.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the lovely feedback. I hope you like this chapter.

Chapter 21
Willow walked into school with a smile plastered on her face. It was quickly forgotten when she saw Oz sitting at the band table with the rest of the crew. She hadn’t seen him since Sunday night, and took a deep breath and walked over to the table.

“Hey guys.”

“Hey Wils, how’d last night go?” Xander asked aware of the weirdness between Willow and Oz.

Willow smiled thinking about her evening with Tara’s family. “It was great, she said yes, so I’m officially taking the most gorgeous cheerleader to the dance next weekend.”

“That’s great, congratulations.” Oz said smiling.

Willow smiled back. It was hard to imagine this guy being so forceful and aggressive, but she knew he had and they needed to talk. It was going to affect the whole line if they didn’t get this situation figured out.

“Can we talk?” Willow asked him.

“Um.” Oz looked around to see if he saw Tara. He didn’t want to endure her wrath again. “Sure.”

Both Willow and Oz walked outside the cafeteria where there were relatively few students.

“What happened Oz?” Willow asked.

“I don’t know.” He sighed, he really didn’t. “I just was so jealous and angry and I don’t know why I reacted like that. You have to believe me I would never want to hurt you.”

“Well you did. You really freaked me out.” Willow said crossing her arms.

Oz looked down ashamed of his behavior. “I’m really sorry Willow, you have to believe me. It was like it wasn’t me, it was someone else using my body. I would never do anything, you have to know that.”

“I thought I did, but Oz you really wigged out. I’m with Tara, and even if I wasn’t I’m gay. You and I will never happen, in a million years. You need to get that through your head.”

“I know, I think I always knew that, and that was what was so upsetting to me. To know you would never want me like I want you.”

“I don’t want this to interfere with the line, but I don’t think we should spend time alone.”

“Yeah I pretty much got that from your girlfriend.”

“What?” Willow asked furrowing her brow.

“She made it pretty clear I shouldn’t come near you.” Oz said feeling horrible for putting them in this situation.

“That’s probably a good idea.” Willow said a little distracted by the thought of Tara threatening Oz. “We probably should get back.” Willow said starting toward the school.

Tara similarly walked into the school wearing a smile on her face as she walked over to the cheerleading table.

“So what’s with the smile Tara?” Cordelia asked seeing Tara approach.

“Oh, um..” Tara blushed. “Willow asked me to homecoming.” She said trying unsuccessfully to wipe the smile from her face.

“Oh that’s great.” Cordelia squealed and wrapped Tara in a huge hug.

“Yeah right on Tara.” Buffy said.

“Oh oh, we get to go dress shopping now.” Anya said rubbing her hands together.

“Yeah let’s go Friday night, we can have a girls night out.” Buffy said.

“Ok.” Everyone agreed. Tara was a little hesitant to make plans when she didn’t know what she and Willow would have planned. She smiled at the thought of actually having to consider someone else when making plans with friends.

“I just heard this great song, I totally think we should use it in the routine.” Anya said looking at Buffy who looked a little weary.

“Um…I don’t know Anya.” Tara said now frowning. “I think we’re pretty set on a song, if we switch now it’s gonna be hell to find something that fits.”

“I know, but Buffy and I kind of have a routine all worked out, or at least part of it.” Anya said and looked at Buffy again for support.

“Yeah, I mean we can just show the squad, see what they have to say.” Buffy nervously said.

Tara looked at Cordelia who had an equal expression of confusion on her face. “Ok I guess you guys could show the squad what you have.”

“Great, that’s awesome, right Buffy?” Anya asked shoving Buffy with her shoulder.

“Yeah, and I mean if they don’t like it or whatever, we can do the other one. I mean we just thought it was really cool and stuff.” Buffy added lamely.

The first bell rang and each girl parted their own way. Tara walked down the hall and was intercepted by Cordelia’s hand on her shoulder.

“Hey, so what was that about?” Cordelia said.

Tara ran her hands through her long blond hair. “I don’t know. How weird is that?”

“They have been acting really weird this year don’t you think?” Cordelia finally voicing what Tara was thinking.

“Yeah, I mean it’s like they are all supportive to my face, but it’s like they don’t really approve or something. I don’t know I just have a weird feeling you know.”

“Tell me about it, well see you at practice.”

The cheerleaders met up for lunch like normal. Tara didn’t see Willow in her usual spot and figured she was practicing. As they walked back from the store with their food, Anya grabbed Tara’s forearm and hung back from Buffy and Cordelia.

“What’s up?” Tara asked.

“Hey I just wanted to let you know, some of the girls on the squad are questioning your commitment to the team.”

“What? That’s ridiculous.” Tara said surprised anyone would question her commitment to the squad.

“I’m just saying with your new relationship and all it’s kind of hard to be captain. I mean no one would think bad of you if you couldn’t handle it. It’s a tough job.” Anya said.

Tara stopped walking and turned to look at Anya. “Are you saying my relationship with Willow is interfering with my role as captain of the squad?”

Anya threw up her hands in defense. “I’m not saying that. I just said some people are.”

“Is that what you think?”

“Well you have to admit Tara, it took you a while to even find a song for our State routine.”

“That’s because I wanted the team to choose it, not just me. Every year the captain gets to pick the song, and the whole squad has to go along with it. I thought it would be nice for everyone to have input on what type of routine we did. Then you and Buffy go behind my back and pick a song and routine on your own. I can’t believe this.” Tara said exasperated. She looked around and saw Cordelia and Buffy had already crossed the street.

“We’re just trying to help. We know you are busy, we just want what’s best for the team.”

Tara was tired of the conversation. “Well we’ll see what the squad wants to do after school today.” Tara said before continuing on at a quicker pace than before.

Tara sat quietly at the back of the squad watching the routine Buffy and Anya had come up with. It was ok, but Tara really thought the move Cordelia had found would really put them over the top at State.

“That was really wonderful girls.” Mrs. Flanders said as Buffy and Anya took their seats on the floor of the lunchroom. “Well should we put it to a vote?” Her eyes landing on Tara for acceptance.

“Yeah whatever.” Tara said annoyed.

“Ok who likes Buffy and Anya’s routine.” She asked and most of the girls raised their hands save a few girls, Tara and Cordelia.

“Well that’s settled then. Buffy, Anya, why don’t you guys split the girls up and work on the moves. And Tara I would like to talk to you.” Mrs. Flanders said motioning for Tara to follow her away from the girls.

“Tara I think your attitude needs some adjustment.” Mrs. Flanders said when they had moved out of hearing range of the squad.

“What?” Tara said not believing what she was hearing.

“You need to show more support for the squad. Some of those girls look up to you and you are setting a bad example with your indifference to the team.”

“My indifference?” Tara said, her voice rising in anger. “I have done nothing but work for this team, and how do they repay me, by choosing a stupid routine that won’t get us past State.”

“It’s what the team wants, so I suggest you get on board, or think about moving on.” Mrs. Flanders said before walking back to the girls.

Cordelia seeing the exchange walked over to Tara a moment after Mrs. Flanders had left.

“What was that about?” Cordelia asked.

“Well apparently I don’t care about the squad and it would be better if I left.” Tara said embellishing Mrs. Flanders words.

“What she said that?”

“Pretty much. This is such bullshit Cordy”

“I know, we are never going to get past State with that shitty routine.” Cordelia said glancing at Buffy and Anya.

“This is so stupid, I mean what are we doing? It’s not like it will matter after this year. It shouldn’t matter now. I don’t know why I care. I should just be done with the whole thing.”

“No Tare, you can’t. We’ve worked for 4 years to get this far.” Cordelia tried explaining.

“To get where? Where are we Cordy?”

“I don’t know Tare, but just don’t make any rash decisions right now. I know you’re pissed, hell I am too, but just think it over ok.”

“You’re right. Listen I don’t really feel like practicing today, let Mrs. Flanders know I’m sick ok?”

“Sure thing Tare.” Cordelia said before walking away.

Dibs!

Sweet, my first dibs! :)

Nice update. I wonder if the other girls are siding with Buffy and Anya because they also have a problem with Tara's relationship? I can't wait to see what happens.

Yay for great update-y goodness... Good that Tara has such a supportive friend as Cordy... I kinda hope that someone would batter Anya and Buffy in the head with a troll hammer the fact that being gay is okay...
