Chapter 19
“Hello?”
“Hey Dad…did you get my message?”
“Yep…sure did. You going to spend the night at the Maclays?”
“Um…y-yeah…is that okay?” Willow asked, watching Tara fiddling with something on the end table.
“No problem, hon. The Maclays are good people. Tell them all I said hello.”
“Will do. Goodnight, Dad.”
“G’night, kitten…have fun, but…be careful, okay? You know what I mean…”
“Dad!” Willow said, uncomfortable with the notion that her father was thinking along the same lines as she was about the activities that she might engage in later on.
“Hey…I am your father…I have to say those things…fatherly duty.”
“Right…goodnight, Dad.” Willow said, rolling her eyes as she closed her flip phone.
“S-so…he’s alright with you staying?” Tara asked.
“Absolutely! In fact, he told me to tell you all hello from him. He really likes you, Tara…kinda runs in the family.” Willow said, smiling seductively as she ran her hand lightly along Tara’s arm, coming to rest in the blonde’s hand.
Tara’s breathing increased as she felt her desire for the red-head rise with the feather-like touch.
“So…you’ve seen mine…it’s your turn to show me yours!” Willow said, licking her lips teasingly.
Tara gulped audibly at the girl’s suggestion.
Willow laughed, “I was talking about your room…for now…” She smirked impishly.
“It’s upstairs…” Tara said, gently leading her to the stairway. Tara’s room was the first one on the left. She opened the door, stepping gallantly aside, motioning for Willow to enter first. As Willow passed through the doorway, Tara placed her hand on the small of the girl’s back, gently guiding her inside. Once inside, she flipped the light switch on. Rather than an abrupt flash of light, the action illuminated hundreds of white Christmas lights, strategically strung throughout the room.
Willow gasped at the beautiful sight. The small lights glowed softly against the scarlet colored walls.
“It’s so…beautiful!” Willow said, amazed. “It looks like hundreds of fireflies…or faeries dancing in the night!” She said, grinning from ear-to-ear.
Tara laughed, enjoying the red-head’s child-like reaction. “You’re s-so cute when you do that.” She said, her mouth perched in a lop-sided grin as she slowly closed the door behind them.
“What?” Willow said, coyly, looking at the blonde, her emerald eyes sparkling in the twinkle lights. She reached out, sliding her finger through the blonde’s belt loop, pulling her closer.
“Will I…” Tara said, trying desperately to keep her urges in check. Her words were interrupted by a slender finger across her lips.
“Shhhh…” Willow whispered. “It’s alright, baby…it’s just a kiss…”
Tara leaned forward as if in a trance, meeting Willow half-way. Silk against velvet, what began as a chaste kiss, quickly elevated into something much more. Willow’s hands slid first to Tara’s hips, then around to the smooth curves of Tara’s buttocks, sending a charge of energy tingling through every inch of the blonde’s body.
“Mmmm…” Tara moaned, her desire reaching a fever pitch. She suddenly grabbed the smaller girl’s arms at the wrist, backing her against the door. The usually timid and shy blonde slid Willow’s hands above her head, using one hand to hold them firmly in place as she hungrily sought out the velvety warm haven once again. Her other hand started at the girl’s shoulder, slowly tracing her curves down, eliciting a groan from the redhead as fingers gently brushed across her breast.
“Tara…” she said, breathlessly. The blonde paused momentarily, looking up into Willow’s eyes. Her own eyes now glowing as bright as a blue flame. “I want…I really, really, really want to, baby…but…I c-can’t…not yet…”
Tara’s breathing started to slow, and she realized that she had been somewhat more aggressive than they were both ready for. She released Willow’s hands, backing off.
“I-I’m sorry…I didn’t m-mean to…” Tara said, apologizing.
“No, baby…no…” Willow said, moving forward to reassure her. “Don’t apologize…you didn’t do anything that I didn’t want you to do…it’s just…I’ve never…um…well…yeah…and um…I’m just…well…I don’t want to rush things. I mean…I want you…oh my goddess, do I want you! I’ve never felt anything like this before in my life! But it’s all happening so fast…”
“I-I know…” Tara said, echoing her sentiments.
“It’s just that…well…it’s kinda like a hot fudge sundae…” Willow said, matter-of-factly.
“Um…okay…?” Tara said, not understanding exactly what she was talking about.
“No…seriously…when you get a hot fudge sundae…or at least when I do…I like to eat it really slow…not so slow that the ice cream gets all melty…’cause hey, nobody likes melty ice cream…but like if this were the only hot fudge sundae that I was ever going to get…I’d want to make it last as long as I could…without melting, of course…because…it’s…well…the only one I’m gonna get…so I kinda want it to last…you know?” Willow said, hoping Tara could decipher the Willow-babble.
“So…um…you’ve ‘had’ hot fudge sundaes b-before?” Tara asked, struggling with the use of an ice cream dessert as an analogy for this particular issue.
“Well, yeah! Everybody’s had a hot fudge…OH! No! I mean no…I’ve had hot fudge sundaes of the real type…but not THAT kind of hot fudge sundae…” Willow said. “Um…how about you? I mean…if you have…I would understand…” Willow stammered.
“No…n-no…never…” Tara answered.
Willow exhaled in relief. “So…maybe we could share this sundae…”
“Definitely…w-when the time is r-right…” Tara agreed.
“So…disappointed?” Willow asked, hesitantly.
“No! Never!” Tara said, emphatically. “Will…I’d be lying i-if I said that I didn’t want you…but I w-want this to be perfect…and honestly…I just don’t know if I’m…if I’m s-strong enough to be able to…control myself.”
“Baby…you will be…we’ll just wait until the time is right…for both of us…okay?”
Tara nodded.
“Y-you’re probably tired, huh?” Tara asked, realizing that the day’s events had likely fatigued Willow.
*Yawn* “Sorry…a little, maybe…” Willow answered, sheepishly.
“If you w-want…I can get you settled and then g-go read or something.” Tara suggested.
“Um…I’d really like it if…well…maybe you could hold me? I promise I’ll behave…” Willow said, looking at the blonde.
“It’s not you I’m w-worried about…”
“Please?” Willow pleaded, flashing her best puppy-dog eyes.
“I’ll get you something to s-sleep in…” Tara said, retrieving a pair of sweats and a tank top from her dresser.
“Thanks…I’ll be right back…just gonna change…not in here…bathroom…” Willow said, walking out of the room, only to pause in the hallway.
“It’s the third door on the right…” Tara said, giggling.
Moments later, Willow returned, slowly pushing the door open, slipping inside. Tara waited under the covers, bathed in the soft glow of the twinkle lights. She had wiped off her makeup and her skin shimmered dimly. The sight nearly took the red-head’s breath away.
Tara smiled, tossing the covers aside, patting on the sheet.
Willow climbed in, the sheets still cold, as she snuggled into Tara’s embrace with a contented sigh.
“Tare?”
“What baby?” Tara said, slowly tracing soft circles in the small of Willow’s back.
“There’s nobody on the face of the earth that I have ever…or would ever…want to share a sundae with but you…” she said, snuggling closer before drifting off to sleep….
"Me either, baby...me either..." The blonde whispered to her already sleeping love...
