Chapter 9



After telling Sara the whole tale of what had happened to them, the two slayers went upstairs to bed. The sleep that finally found them was a shorted-lived one. An hour after they had finally gotten to sleep their alarm clock went off.



After turning it off and grumbling about not getting enough sleep, the two tired slayers got out of bed and got dressed. A few minutes later they were stumbling down the stairs to the kitchen.



“Coffee, please give me coffee.” Buffy begged when she saw Willow and Tara standing near a freshly brewed pot of coffee.



Willow chuckled as she poured her a steaming cup. “Long night you two?”



Buffy grumbled some unheard response while accepting the coffee from Willow. Tara turned to see if her cousin wanted a cup of coffee as well and found her a sleep with her head on the counter and only sitting half on the stool she had chosen.



“Awww, poor Faith.” Tara giggled. “I hate to wake her. Especially seeing that morning is really her worst time a day. Add that to little sleep, she is going to be hell to deal with.”



The three girls talked a bit more and had their coffee as they killed time before having to go to school. Buffy told them the story of what happened the night before with the group of vamps.



“Girls, it's time for school.” Sara called to them from the hallway.



“Okay, thanks mom.” Tara yelled back. “So who’s gonna wake her up?”



“I vote Buffy.” Willow said.



“I do too.” Tara agreed.



“Thanks a lot. Leave me to do the dirty work.” The blonde slayer smirked. She slowly walked up to her resting girlfriend and whispered something that the two witches didn’t hear into her ear. With in seconds Faith jumped up and was wide-awake.



“B., now that is the way to wake me up. I’m holding you to that later.” Faith said pointing at her girlfriend.



“Okay. I’ll pay up. But first we have school.” The short blonde turned to walk out of the kitchen and headed to the driveway for school.



The dark haired slayer and the two other girls followed close behind. “Wonder what that was?” Tara asked.



“I’ll find out from Buffy later.” The redhead smiled.



Tara saw her mother right before the group walked out the door to the car and stopped her. “Mom, can you drop mine and Faith’s equipment off at school for us later today so that we can have it set up for the audition tomorrow?”



“I sure can Tare-bear.” Mrs. MaClay smiled and kissed her daughter and Faith goodbye. Then she gave Buffy and Willow a hug each. “Have a great day at school.”



All four girls smiled at the older woman and walked out to the car to leave for school.



“Your aunt is so cool Faith.” Buffy said to her girlfriend as they walked to Willow’s SUV.



“Yeah, Tare is lucky, she got the good mom.” Faith smirked at her cousin.



“Oh come on Faith, Aunt Linda is cool.” The taller blonde protested.



The three girls started to playfully argue about which one had the cooler parents. Willow silently slipped off knowing that she couldn’t argue with them about "coolest parents". Tara and Buffy noticed that Willow had slipped over to the car.



“Aw shit.” Buffy cursed herself. “Tell me I wasn’t that stupid.”



“If you were so was I.” Tara said.



“What’s the deal with Red?” the dark haired slayer asked.



Tara and Buffy shared a look, and then Tara spoke. “You fill in Faith, I’m going to talk with Will.”



“Kay.” The blonde slayer answered.



As Buffy filled Faith in on the situation, Tara went to talk to the redhead.



Willow was calmly waiting on the other three girls to come and join her in the car so that they could get to school.



“Willow, sweetie, I’m sorry. Are you okay?” the blonde Wicca asked.



“I’m fine.” Willow said without looking at her girlfriend.



Tara noticed her girlfriend's down-turned head and took Willow’s face in her hands and tilted her head up. “Are you okay?”



Willow looked into Tara’s eyes and smiled. “I will be.”

After they the two witches had finished their talk, all four girls piled into Willow’s SUV and headed to school.



Once they arrived, the slayers split off from the witches to go find Giles and fill him in on what was happening in the wonderful world of slaying. The witches went first to their lockers, and then to their first class since the bell was going to ring in fifteen minutes.



They were the first two there since the bell hadn’t in fact rung yet. The teacher hadn’t even shown up yet. Willow turned to look at Tara. The blonde looked back at her girlfriend and noticed that she seemed nervous.



“Will, what’s wrong? You look scared.” Tara noted.



“Um, nothing’s wrong.” Willow assured her girl. “But I am a little nervous.”



“Why is that sweetie?” the blonde wiccan asked.



“Um, I have a question ask you, and it is a very important question, and I want to get it right.” The redheaded hacker explained.



“Will, just ask.” Tara comforted the hacker by rubbing her hand up and down the redhead’s arm.



“Okay.” Willow took a deep breath to steady her nerves. “Tara MaClay, will you go to Homecoming with me next month?”



Tara was so excited; a full-blown smile broke out on her face. “Yes, I would be honored to go with you Willow Rosenberg.”



The redhead squealed at this response and leaned into a sweet and gentle kiss with Tara.

That night Buffy and Faith were sent on patrol by Giles in case the attack from the night before wasn’t just a couple of vampires looking to take on the slayers. The two Chosen ones were very happy about this, seeing as they had been making rounds for only an hour and had already had an eventful night.



They had come across and killed six vampires each. They weren’t very hard kills for the two slayers but it seemed that they were coming one right after the other. The two slayers hardly had a moment to breathe between stakings.



“They are just all over the place now.” Faith said.



“Yeah, and that's bad.” Buffy was worried about this sudden pick up in activity after things being so quiet. That was never a good thing.



“Okay B., what’s going on in that beautiful head of yours?” Faith asked.



“It was all quit and now it isn’t. There was no big bad attack. This is bad. This means someone wants things riled up to hide its presence here.” The blonde slayer said while scanning the area around her.



“Well Giles said that he would keep the research thing up.” The brunette slayer tried to calm her girl. “I have something to take your mind off of it for a minute.”



Buffy looked at her girl. “Faith, as much as I like kissing you, do you really think this is the time?”



Faith just smirked at that. “First off B., I said a minute, my kisses would take your mind off this longer than that. Second, it is always the time for my lips on yours. And third, would you go to Homecoming with me?”



Buffy had started to giggles at the beginning of Faith’s little rant, but by the end had stopped in shock. “Did you, just ask me, to Homecoming?”



“Yeah, so what you think?” the dark haired girl asked.



Buffy jumped up onto Faith and wrapped her legs around her waist and kissed her hard and with passion.



“Mmmm, so is that a ‘yes’?” Faith asked as she pulled, reluctantly, back from the kiss.



“Yes!” Buffy said as she kissed her girlfriend again.



“Thought you said this wasn’t the time for kissing?” Faith smirked and raised an eyebrow.



Buffy hopped down off Faith and pouted. “Fine, then I won’t kiss you.”



She started to walk away when she felt Faith grab her hand and pull her back into a searing kiss.



“Awww, isn’t this just precious?” a deep grumbling voice asked sarcastically.



Both slayers' heads turned to the voice. While Buffy prepared to fight, Faith froze.



“Nice to see you remember me Faith.” The vamp attached to the voice said.



“NO! Not you, not you!” the dark haired slayer screamed as she started to lose it.



“Faith, who is it?” Buffy asked



Faith never answered. She just grabbed Buffy’s arm and started to run as fast as her slayer ability would let her, pulling the blonde with her.



She kept going until she had gotten to her house and then she screamed at the top of her lungs and broke down crying. She fell to her knees, her head in her hands.



Tara, Willow, and Saral came running into the room from upstairs.



“What’s wrong?” they all asked together.



Buffy just shook her head. “We ran into some big vamp. She freaked. We ran. Now, we’re here.”



Faith looked up at her aunt and cousin. She looked them dead in the eye and then spoke her first words since she had seen the vampire. “It was Kakistos!”



Tara and her mother stood there looking at Faith and at each other in shock.



“No, it can’t be!” Tara fell next to her cousin and began to cry as well.

that was a great update



It was all very sweet, what with them planning the home coming (I hope there isn't any trouble about that - like the school turning homphobic and saying no same sex couples). Then we get to the end with Kakitos. It seems he's hurt both Faith and Tara, judging from their reaction.

First let me say how sorry I am that it has been so long since I last updated. I have have been so busy. I have school and work and family that I have to deal with. I don't get a minute to myself most of the time. I will try my best to get the next chapter typed and sent out to the beta as quick as I can but I have 2 test and a paper due.
