Additionally Amber Benson (Tara, Buffy) will be guest starring on the show.

Additionally Ben Edlund (The Tick) joins the writers.

Amber was also rumored to be on point pleasant which didn't happen. "The Inside" was set to be a mid-season replacement but instead will be burning off episodes this summer so I doubt it will be around long enough for Amber to get on it or for any episode that she does to air.

No, LW has confirmed this after talking to the Bensons, so it is a go and LW will list the date when she gets it.

Amber was at the wardrobe check on Tuesday. Diane Benson told me about it on Sunday at the London Expo. I just hope that we´ll get this series sometime soon in Germany.

Summer release is not a good sign for this show considering that Fox is releasing alot of dramas this Fall: Fox sticks to script for fall lineup

Why didn't Fox have them film the episodes over the summer and release them in Fall? It seems Fox does not think enough of the show to give it a Fall slot so all 13 eps of the order may not get made or air ala Tru Callling's 2nd season. Folks shouldn't get their hopes up until the Amber ep has a scheduled air date IMHO. Frankly, I'm looking forward much more to Amber's own movie projects than just another one time guest shot ala Cold Case Files.

I'll take Amber any way I can get her. Uh, that came out wrong! But you know what I mean. Word is that she has already been in to wardrobe for the show so the work has begun. Even if it is a one-off, and is only a week or so of work, anything that puts her on TV is good. This'll run.

I totally agree with you Sam. I just don't understand why her appearance in a popular show like Cold Case didn't lead to more TV work for Amber but she seems to prefer having more control over the characters she plays, so hopefully her new movie will lead to a lot more writing and directing.

OK, so I saw an ad for "The Inside" today...and it is another of those hyper-violent murder investigation shows that seem to be on TV 24/7 these days...please all ye Gods and Goddesses...tell me that the lovely Ms Amber is not going to be playing yet another victim!!!!! I cannot handle her getting killed again...no way no how!!! So lets cross all our little kitten paws and send good thoughts that she is just a witness or even a vicious killer...just please not another victim!!!

The premiere did not do well in the ratings so the August date may shift to next year or the August episodes stay on the shelf. Given the folks who are doing the show , I'm sure Amber will play a victim of the weekly serial killer and die gruesomely and I WON'T TAKE AMBER AS A GRUESOME CORPSE. That's the one way I don't want to take her. Just awful. At least in Cold Case Files, we got to see much of Amber beyond her character's death. This show is bloody and gruesome and the creators promise losts more of that:

Watching Fox’s The Inside, a sort of C.S.I.-meets-Silence of the Lambs that follows the grim adventures of FBI agents in their pursuit of serial killers, reminded me that close-ups of pickled hands in jars or a murder victim’s bloody peeled-away face weren’t always standard primetime fare. Who’d have thought a show about dead bodies and the crime-scene investigators who dissect them would revolutionize the police procedural drama? Certainly not most TV critics. When CBS sent out press screeners for its fall 2000 season, C.S.I., which introduced phrases like “anal swab” to the airwaves, was one of the least buzzed about new network shows. Now it’s hard to think of a crime drama that doesn’t display its influence.

For those lacking strong stomachs, this isn’t always a fine thing.

aceivan: Yeah it's a shame that Cold Case Files didn't lead to work on other good shows. I'd much rather see Amber on CSI or Law and Order than this shit. How cool would it be if she did a gust shot on Veronica Mars with Aly? Aly's character is getting an arc on that show next season. I would love to see Amber be part of that. Given her TV career is inop, I hope her film and writing projects pan out so we can see Amber in something good.

I've watched both episodes that have aired thus far, and I have to say the show doesn't suck. I've never watched CSI, nor do I really watch crime shows in general, but it's well-written and the actors are talented. I must echo the hope that Amber does not play the victim. Not just because I want to see writers/producers from BtVS not act totally ignorant of what came before, but because it would be cool to see Amber play a character that is totally different. If anything, I can see her being the killer as a wink to the audience. Here's hoping the show continues to not suck.

Future Crumbling for FOX's 'The Inside'

The future of FOX's "The Inside" began to crumble over the weekend ... FOX has passed on extending the options of the cast, a likely harbinger to its cancellation.

Minear went on to detail his hopes for an eventual DVD release - "I'm hoping it's gonna be a 15 episode set, including the two, you counted right, TWO! unaired pilots" - and noted that FOX still plans to run the show for the time being however "I'm gonna make my bet right now that we'll have, not including any unaired pilots, six unaired episodes featured on that DVD set."

In a later post, Minear also mentioned: "I discourage strongly any save-this-show attempts by anyone. It would be pointless and a waste of time."

The show was poorly received both critically and ratings-wise even though the success of similar show "The Closer" on TNT showed a summer audience for the crime show genre. The six unaired episodes would include Amber's (sched as ep11 of 13). Like Point Pleasant the show has failed before Amber's one-off guest shot aired. The creative folks behind "The Closer" have dissappointed W/T fans in the past with regard to Amber's character which is why I was hoping folks here would not get their hopes up. In any case, Amber would surely have played the victim in a repeat of stuff that we hated before.

For a one-off guest shot, Amber would be better off working on a good show with talented people in an episode that will actually air like "Cold Case Files" or like Aly for a show that is good even if ratings challenged like "Veronica Mars". Aly dumped her sitcom with Jennifer Love Hewitt to guest on Veronica because it would and has led to a recurring role next season and the show was good enough critically to get renewed. As much as I want to see Amber, I want to see her in something good that will help her career such as her own movie projects or a recurring role in a series or even a guest shot in a show that actually airs.

It's worth remembering that even so big a star as Sophia Loren made a fortune performing in what the Business used to call "orphan films" (today they would be called "straight-to-video" films;-) ).
