Amber Benson writes about fanfiction

I just stumbled across this and thought I would share (hopefully its not old news)

Amber Benson wrote a chapter for a book called Fic: Why Fanfiction is Taking Over the World. by Anne Jamison.

She writes about being the face behind Tara and how blurry the lines can be between reality and creation and artist and creator. Really interesting read and funny as hell because Amber is a funny girl .

I remember reading that at the time and thinking it was horrifying to give her fanfiction (as in, it would horrify me for her to see mine) but I really do find it mind-boggling that someone would give her smutty stuff and think it's appropriate!

I might (probably would) give her copies of my WT related poems (I Instead Of You, What I want Form You, Tara Maclay watches *Cold Case*, a Sukoshioto) and I have sent her my lyrics "Blinded By the Ashes," but no way would I feel she has time to read one of my prose concoctions. And certainly not any of my explicit stuff, among other reasons being I'm a guy.

Really interesting (and covers a lot of ground in a brief and fun read). I did actually take along one of my bits of photoshopping to be signed one of the times she came to Sydney (this one, although I did a plain image version without the text), and yeah I was nervous doing so - 'celebrity photoshop' doesn't exactly have the rosiest reputation, so I was kind of worried it'd prompt an "Oh no, what's this freak done to my photo" even though it's not smutty (also I just worry about everything all the time, can't help it). Can't think how I actually had the nerve to bring it along, except that that was the first time she'd ever been on this side of the ocean that I knew of, so who knew if there'd ever be another chance. Of course she was extremely nice, and signed it "I got the bod of a warrior!" (the Tara image was Lucy Lawless originally), so that was a relief
