Alyson on TV

Anything about Willow & Tara, Alyson Hannigan and Amber Benson.

Re: Aly

Postby tommo » Mon May 20, 2002 11:57 pm

Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

I'm sure it was something perfectly explicable. :rolleyes

Well CRAP! I was so wanting to oggle the lovely Aly. Not a big fan of Kilborn but was willing to tune in. They so need to update those damn web pages when shit changes!

I agree that she was not wanting to deal with promoting ME stuff and had better plans dealing with Amber. :grin

EDITED to add: Doesn't the show "24" air either at 8pm or 9pm on FOX? Maybe they actually thought about the conflict of Keiffer's show airing at the same time as Buffy. (its a thought anyway)

Damn, I'm sorry folks.

Aly was over at my house giving me a backrub and we just lost all track of time. She thought she had someplace she was supposed to be.

And I was taking photographs. Heh, Autumn, that was funny, remember? When you said something about freckles and Aly said, "Freckles? You wanna see freckles? I'll show you some freckles..." :)

The Hollywood Machine

Postby tyche » Wed Jun 19, 2002 2:38 am

Don't know if anyone else is watching this series (UK folks: it's on Saturdays on BBC2 and is well worth watching), but they had a little segment last week about how hard it is to predict the stars of tomorrow. Anyway, they showed a montage of clips of various young actors at premieres, and one of them was Aly at the AP2 premiere. She was literally only in it for about a second, but spotting her made me happy. :)

It's not to be missed. She plays the "second lead" (Nicholl Tom's friend), looks just adorable, and speaks with a meltingly beautiful southern accent (perhaps learned in her native Atlanta?). There are nice caps to be found at the Alyson Hannigan Corner site:) .

After seeing it, I expressed my desire on the old HDC board to see a re-make of "GWTW" with AH as Scarlett and AB as Melanie:grin .

Oh...heh heh. I watched most of this on a download so I'm assuming I saw the Aly bits as opposed to the whole film itself. Hee. Nothing to write home about. Although you know, Aly...southern accent...works for me. ;)

A Gone With the Wind remake as a lesbian film? What a mind boggling (yet completely cool) thought! :)

I did see an interview once with Aly where she was not attempting to hide her Atlanta accent at all... so droolworthy it had to be rewound about five times before we could bear to switch it off.

Oh my yes, the accent is absolutely heavenly. If you see the movie, just wait 'til you hear her delivery of the line "Is this a braaaahbe?":D

As for "GWTW", just think what it would be like with a real southern girl from Atlanta and a real southern girl from Alabama! Can't you just imagine AB saying a line like--

Melanie: Do you think Ashley was killed in the wohwah?:grin

It's hard for me to even imagine Aly with a southern accent. Amber, yeah, that one she did while doing the Stuff shoot, when the makeup guy was applying makeup to her...I can't even say it without practically wetting my office chair...

She goes..."Ya hands are sooo wooarm" Then she does a cute mock-"strangling" sound.

Seeing those two in off-the-shouler gowns and crinolines... Sweet Mother...

I don't know why you'd want to hide it. I just think the Southern accent is so lovely. Love when Indigo Girls say "thanks y'all" at concerts - makes me all giggly!

I must remember to watch this movie! I have to admit that I sometimes get sucked into Lifetime movies even if there isn't somebody good in them. Especially the overly dramatic ones... how embarassing. :blush

The Hollywood Machine (again)

Postby tyche » Mon Jun 24, 2002 2:59 am

Aly was briefly in this week's edition too. There was a brief shot of her at a press junket waving a bottle of yellow liquid around, and then another shot of her at the AP2 premiere. Obviously whoever compiled the clips is a fan of Aly. :)

Aly's accent

Postby maudmac » Mon Jun 24, 2002 3:15 am

Y'know, I can hear it come through a little, here and there on Buffy. The only time I can think of off the top of my head at 4 a.m. is that scene in the Magic Box in "All the Way" when Willow's talking to the little girl who's dressed as a witch and she says, "While you're at it, try pulling that broomstick out of your -- "

That accent Amber puts on in the Stuff shoot clip is sooooooo Gone with the Wind. But you'd be hard pressed to find anyone in Alabama talking like that, honestly. Unless we're making fun of Georgia. Which we do often, and in public. ;)

Whoever compiled the clips is probably spinning in their nice comfortable sound and vision room right now, given their obvious penchant for Aly and the dire culmination of Season 6.

Woo, that was a long sentence.

However, getting back to the topic at hand; I'm hardly surprised that Aly features in these clips. She plays the Hollywood Machine really well and still maintains a sense of "realness" about her. (I don't care if it isn't a real word...it is now)

LOL. If my family is any indication, it's impossible to get rid of a Southern accent, even after decades of living in California.

Surrender to the drawl, Amber and Aly. There is no escape.

Southern Belles

Postby SisterDebMac » Fri Jun 28, 2002 9:23 am

I just stumbled over here after a long absence and found y'all talking about something I've been noticing an awful lot lately, the ME penchant for hiring ladies of Southern extraction --- Amber, Aly, Amy Acker, Laurel Holloman. I love it!

Hey, maudmac, the only reason you Alabaman's get away with poking fun at us Georgians is that we do it to you! Can't we all just get along?

Hey, are there other Southern Kittens out there? I'd love to chat with you. It feels so lonely down here in Atlanta...
