It does not seem like a total coincidence given her comments about why she did not come back on Buffeh and why she wanted to play a part in Latter Days.

I think Amber has made her views known well enough in the many interviews she has given. I feel we could not have wished for an actress who is more openly supportive of the gay character she portrayed and her (gay) fans (the same goes for Aly). I don´t think she has ever commented on inter-racial relationships or gay marriage directly, but she probably would if someone asked a question about it and if we know her at all by now we can guess the answer. I think she already has done a lot of good for a great many people both in her work and her words, what more can we ask for.

Edit: oh yummie caps. Thanks for posting the episode TaraLivesOn :) I´ll try and download it later.

Thanks for the twop link, hip. When you mentioned it the first time a page back, I went there and put in my fifty cents about Amber. It's nice to see she's getting nothing but positive comments about her performance. :grin

It's great to see Amber on the small screen again. Yay! :clap

I still wanna know who took the beautiful b&w photos. I really want one!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just seent he screencaps. She looks more gorgeous than ever. Can't wait for the episode to come over to Britain.

With her doing a few social-conscious roles just now, is she picking them deliberately as a point of view or did it just come out that way?

One wonders (not asking as it is her business) how AMber feels about inter-racial dating, Gay marriage and abortion? As someone in the public spotlight and with an army of fans who love her and support her, it makes me wonder if she ahs ever given thought to making her views widely known (such as attending a Pro-gay marriage rally or making her views known in a bigger interview? I think she could really do some good but I am very aware that putting herself on the line like that might make enemies in and out of Hollywood.

Oh yeah, we've seen this look before. Something tells me had Julia lived, she would have been going to women's music festivals by 1975 :p

(putting my geek-girl hat on)

By the way, the bittorrent is off a high-def (HDTV) capture, so any screen caps from it will be of the best quality possible (other than any photo promos for the episode by the studio).

Also, for those getting the bittorent, please be kind and leave your bittorrent window open after it is finished for awhile to help others get it too. You can still play the video while that BT window is open (as long as it is finished).

Another tip for this bittorrent is patience, it may seem to be slow at first but speed should pick up over time. :)

There are *alot* of people getting this file right now!

I cannot disagree with you, DrG. Amber has done so much to help but it seems, with the marriage argument so much in the public domain, that she could show her support in a way that would echo down not just our generation, but the future generations to come.

I believe she has ASA - she has given some very blunt interviews and public commentary where she has clearly stated love is love and supported the gay/lesbian communities rights. She has chosen to play parts that support her convictions and she has been in ready attendance at functions that support the gay/lesbian communty. She is a young st8 woman trying to make a living in a very competitive business. I don't expect her to be out on the gay rights picket line. If she is great, but its not something I feel she should have to be doing to prove her worth of my support for her career.

and speaking of her career, her episode last night gave her CONSIDERABLE exposure - it was #1 for the timeslot

Cold Case - #1 for the evening: 11.7/17

17% of all the tv's on at the time were tuned to Amber!

Cold Case

Postby Puff » Mon Mar 08, 2004 11:29 am

I've never seen the show before although I did enjoy and may well watch it again. Cold case is the most watched new show, although I am glad that last nights episode got nice high ratings.

I thought Amber looked beautiful although still a little thin, is she still sick? I also should change my name to ISeeSubtext as I thought she had more chemistry with the artist girl (the woman who played Starbuck on Battlestar Galactica) than with any of the guys. Is there 6 degrees of seperation between subtexty characters? I actually worried halfway through that the female had the hots for her and was jealous so she killed them...glad I was wrong :D Can't wait to see if those photo's ever appear online.

Which is FAR more people than have EVER seen Buffy.

And what is even funnier the episodes of Buffy that rated high all had significant Tara storylines. I'd say Amber is a draw.

Good job!

I was wondering if you'd put on your geek girl hat again, and help this Mac user figure out how to down load your wonderful Cold Case file. When I click on the link all I get is gibberish. This happens to me often, especially when trying to download Willow/Tara videos.

Thank you for the help.

Lovely to see Amber on TV again. It was a great character for her, and she had the hippy chick look down. Even the poncho suited her! And I'll echo what everyone else had to say about the photos - she just looked gorgeous.

Could anyone who watches the show regularly explain to me the thing with the detective's (presumably girlfriend) who said Lily was beautiful? Not sure what was going on there.

You might want to try getting divx but I found it to be a bit jerky with just divx , so get xvid , here's some download sites.

Thank you so much for that video, it's very high quality. TaraLivesOn, did you encode that? Awesome! Thanks for the caps too :)

The video is mp4 based. You might have to install a filter.

I like ffdshow, it should be here under filters.

Dammit! tyche, I just wrote a lengthy response to your query (I've watched Cold Case all year) which EZ board just ate. :gnome

The gist: the thing w/ Lily's partner's gf is new, your guess is as good as mine. The show is having trouble trying to decide whether to go w/ the Law and Order strictly business approach, or the Botchko one where the cops have (sordid?) personal lives. I wish they'd stick to the former. :sigh (Unless they ever wanna give Lily a girlfriend, of course ;) )

Well, I had never seen this show before and I don't think I'll ever watch it again...all that death and violence stuff is too much for this pacifist hippie...but Amber was wonderful and incredibly gorgeous as usual (even in that poncho!...UGH I remember those) Have to admit it made me cry...and I am not a crier...seeing Amber/Julia beg for her life like that and going into that alley knowing she was doomed...ARRRRGGGHHH...please Amber, I love seeing your gorgeous talented self on the tube again, but could you please try to do at least one show where you don't get shot and killed?!?!?!?! I had to watch "Chance" before going to bed to make me feel better and since I finally got around to framing and hanging my photo and poster from "Chance" Her Gorgeousness was the last thing I saw before turing out the lights ::sigh :: If only...I did have some very nice dreams though

Re: video help for Cold Case

Postby TaraLivesOn » Mon Mar 08, 2004 10:07 pm

Oopsie, sorry for the delay, I had to take a nap, long day.

For those with Windows and video problems I highly recommend the k-lite "codec pack" with BSplayer:

k-lite codec pack 2.20 FULL version (mirror) [6 megs]

full version includes a better player than media player and almost every codec you'll ever really need

k-lite codec pack 2.20 BASIC version (mirror) [2 megs]

basic version has no player and only the most popular codecs

Not only will this fix the cold case video, you'll happily find nearly any fan-video will play correctly now. The great thing about k-lite is that you can completely uninstall it if you have any problems and its completely ad-free.

ps. if you have tried to install divx or other codecs/filters before this one, uninstall them first to prevent possible conflicts

pps. For those with Mac's running OSX use Videolan

Sorry I almost missed this: for shivermetimbers and others with a Mac, to download BitTorrent files you need to install a special program:

"official" bittorrent for mac OsX

experimental bittorrent for mac osx (has more controls)

If you don't have osx, it's still possible to download and play the video but it's ALOT harder. Msg me for help in that case.

ps. for Windows folks, the official bittorrent is here
