Actually this stupid poll does give us another opportunity to clarify our position, and get our point out again through another series of letters to the editor's of Cinescape. They have definately opened the door.

Well, I voted "No, that had nothing to do with why the character was killed" because that's what I believe. It had nothing to do with what the producers intended it was what was actually portrayed on-screen that was offensive (not to mention the disrespect shown by ME before and after the event).



And I don't know who they're referring to when they say "Some very vocal fan groups have accused the producers of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER of being anti-gay for killing off the character of Tara" because I've never heard any fan group, vocal or otherwise, saying that. An individual or two, sure, but an entire group... Perhaps if they were to be more specific about which groups they were alluding to.



I agree with roamin, sending them the link to Bob's "it's not homophobia..." essay is a good idea. Also, pointing out to them that they have completely missed the point and are in fact asking the wrong question.



When are folks going to get it without us having to explain it to them 9 million times first...

If you go to Jump The Shark and choose their "Death" page from the bar at the side you'll see Tara is among those who deaths are ranked as one of the major reasons a show has crashed and burned.



If you look at the other characters, and even actors (for example Phil Hartman, R.I.P.) Tara's death has a staggering number of votes. Some of the other deaths on other shows have in the region of 5-20 votes...Tara's death has more than 500, and being very recent, is likely to see this number increase considerably... especially next season if she's not back.

It's an old poll, and actually 3 years ago it triggered a "war" between Céline Dion fans and Mylène Farmer fans (a super famous French singer) on Usenet, which was kinda fun
