Aly in AP3: American Wedding

Yeah a couple, but not nearly enough deleted scenes either. Still, it is a must have DVD.

Finally rented the DVD and saw the unrated version. It was funny the first hour and Stifler was hilarious throughout. However, Michelle was an extended cameo IMHO. My favorite bit with Michelle was the proposal scene and she spends most of that under the table. There was too much of upset Michelle with Aly looking all depressed in the role (chanelling later seasons Willow methinks) and too little of quirky, sexy and funny Michelle. Too bad. I have the first two but this one is not a keeper for me.



I really loved Michelle in AP2 but in this one, she was too much of a one note character for me and a dull note at that. I'm tired of seeing Aly play predominanntly sad characters, I guess. Aly also looked tired to me as if she didn't get enough time off from BTVS to get enough sleep while working on AP3. In the first AP, Aly stole the show as the band nerd who comes out as a nympho. In AP2, she's quirky and funny as she helps Jim with sex tips so he can get Nadia. In both cases, she's her own character with heer own activities and friends who simply steps into Jim's life. In AP3, she's more of a background plot device to motivate Jim and spends the movie looking depressed IMHO. I haven't seen the extra scenes yet so it's possible more of her other than upset bits landed on the cutting room floor.



Another thing that AP3 lacked was more female characters. I would have liked to see more of Michelle's side in the wedding and some interaction with her friends would have given us that. Dissappointing overall for me. Like AP and AP2 but AP3 leaves me flat.

Well I certainly would have liked to see more of her in AP3, but she did not seem too unhappy to me. There were moments when she felt hurt, especially when Stiffler ruined the flowers and granny did not approve of her, but overall she was her old self and in the end she got the wedding of her dreams.



I really liked the scene with Jim´s dad. It was very sweet and amusing that she could be so very uninhibited with him and everyone else while at the same time her parents believed her to be a chaste virgin. There is not a lot of Aly in the extras either unfortunately, only one substantial scene really, when Jim´s dad is telling her about Jim having the teeniest tiniest penis as a baby, Jim is mortified of course but Michelle has this great delighted look that shouts "awesome" on her face. Aly is so great, one look on her face says more than most people´s extended conversations. The rest of the movie had enough fun to make it very entertaining as a whole. I will be rewatching this a couple of more times at least.

DrG: Agreed. The scene with Jim's dad was the other good Michelle scene in the movie. Still it was not enough, I would have loved a view of the wedding from the female side, for example.



The move is still fun, of course, and the Stifler stuff is great. The gay bar scene is also alot of fun. I like the way AP turns the homophobe thing on it's head. So yeah the movie is certainly worth a look if you are an American Pie fan like me. However, this one is not a keeper for me. I still think that Michelle was criminally underused and besides the proposal and the talk with Jim's dad, IMHO Michelle spends the bulk of the movie looking hurt whether it's over the dress, granny, Stifler being there, the flowers, hair on the cake etc.



There were alot of missed opportunities:

1. Michelle's band camp friends wanting to be the wedding bad

2. Michelle and her mom having the sex talk before the wedding (that would have been hilarious IMHO)

3. Jim and Michelle almost caught in a quickie by her parents.

4. Michelle doing something with her flute



Decent flick but dissappointing to this American Pie fan.

My girl got the AP3 dvd as a birthday present from my sister, and was really happy. We haven't had a chance to watch the extras yet, but are looking forward to it as we both agree that there wasn't enough Aly.

The rumor on AP4 is that it will focus on Stifler's little brother, not on any of the gang, and that because he is a troublemaker he gets sent to band camp. Where hijinks occur, I suppose. The rumor goes further to say that they will not be using the kid who played Stifleer's brother in AP2 and 3, but will get someone new. No word on Aly being involved at all, and I seriously doubt there is any reason for her to be.

I find it hard to believe. Without the original cast there is little hope of it making money. I think it ended well with the wedding. Time to let it go and move on, that is what they should have done with the Police Acedemy as well.

I just watched American Wedding again and delved into the extra´s some more and loo and behold, I am in it. Hah, for all but 0.1 millisecond or something like that, but thanks to frame by frame action I could definitely see my big head in there. Now I can tell the grandchildren I´ll never have that I am on the same DVD as Alyson Hannigan.
