AP 2 was SO much better than AP 1, so I'm looking forward to the third one. My only complaint is that Michelle is straight. "Willow is kissing a guy EWWW" :) But I especially loved the actual visits to band camp.

I am so getting the dvd.

I'm just happy Tara Reid isn't in the mix completly. Because if I have to watch her take over Howard Stern again and she's wearing those low cut levi's that look like a size 5 in boys...I'm writing an angry letter!

This will be the third different director they've had - although J.B. Rogers, who directed AP2, was the First Assistant Director on the original. Jesse Dylan, on the other hand, is completely new to the franchise.

She said in an interview re: AP2 that she hadn't expected to do a sequel at all because her role seemed to be over at the end of the first one and she didn't see how they could use her in a good sequel (or do a good sequel at all?), but she read the script they had for AP2 and was impressed. I forget exactly how she put it, but basically that they had an interesting direction for the sequel and liked the character development for Michelle and had to do it.

I don't think she'd have come back for AP3 (barring any leftover obligation from her AP2 contract) if she didn't feel the script (or at least the idea for the story, but I assume she'd have read the script first since they seem to have one) was worthwhile, telling an interesting story and giving her interesting stuff to perform. I have strong hope that her taste means the movie will not be crap, though whether it can live up to high expectations or merely surpass mediocre expectations is another question.

I didn't quite feel like seeing the first one when it was in theaters, but when the second one was coming out in theaters and I heard that Aly had a bigger role in it, I eventually had to buy the first one on tape and watch it before I could see the sequel. Even though they aren't exactly the kind of movie I prefer (not a fan of gross-out humor in general), I loved them. It helped that I stayed up late at night to watch AP which put me in the perfect mood for it, and while I was disappointed by the rather weak storylines some of the other characters had in AP2 the great storyline with Michelle and Jim made up for it. It sounds like the other original characters might not even be in AP3, which would probably be better than to include them without really having anything interesting with them (but of course it has to make sense in the story that they aren't around, and yet Stiffler is...).

Usually, I do not care for these types of movies and the only reason I watched was, of course, to see the wonderful AH. Call me crazy, but I preferred AP2 to AP. There was just so much more to Michelle. Plus, she did steal both movies as I am sure, she will again.

The scene I loved most was when she broke it off with Jim for Nadia's benefit and walked out. Once she got in to her car and fully realized that she cared for Jim, the look in her eyes was just amazing. That girl can act and she's not too bad to look at either!

This time I think AH should take her money up front because I don't see AP 3 making big money.

Either way this is a good thing for Aly. I am happy for her.

I *still* have not seen AP2, but I will one day. I hope this is the start of a long film carrer for her!

This is good news, I'm really glad for Aly. This has made me a happy bunny. :bounce Yep, my first thought was, "hehe, Aly's movin' on, she's leaving Buffy behind. In your face, Whedon! Try getting her to sign on for Season 8 now" Or words to that effect... :p

Anyhoo, I recently bought the DVD boxset of AP & AP2, despite the fact they're not usually the type of films I like to watch. I only really bought them, 'cause, you know... AH. Having said that, I was surprised that I actually enjoyed them both. Some of the humour was a bit over the top for my liking, but I found myself laughing quite a lot anyway, especially during the Michelle scenes. :grin I even liked Stifler... :thud :lol

With the knowledge that AH has probably previewed the script for AP3 before signing on, I'm confident that this second sequel will be as good as the first two. Hell, even if it isn't, I'll go see it, and buy it on DVD anyway, 'cause, you know... AH. :p

As for the consensus that Mena Suvari came across as completely clueless in the audio commentary for AP2... all I can say is count me in. IMO, even the lads that were with her seemed embarrassed by some of her crass comments. Here's to hoping that they have AH do the commentary instead of her next time. :pray

Well the money from AP2 and 3 should enable Aly to make a decision about her future on Buffy without having to wortry about where the next eal is coming from, and given the spoilers that are coming out I think it will be 'bye bye Buffy'.

Willow: ...I have to tell you....

Tara: No, I understand you have to be with the
person you l-love

Aly definitely made AP2, she just has that special vibe and always looks great on-screen.

I'm an AP fan so this is great news and if she could do some commentary for the DVD that would be even better as the out-takes that she did on the AP2 DVD were wonderful ... and they were SO funny ...

AP3

Postby KISMIC » Sat Aug 10, 2002 5:51 am

Hmm, don't know how I feel about a third American Pie. I mean AP1 was good, AP2 great and AP3 has potential for being even greater, but you have to hope that Aly could find a completely different role that will REALLY open up her acting posibilities. So far she's 'Willow' and 'Michelle', hardly anyone (bar Aly fans) can think off the top of their head of any other great roles she's played. God, how many people have said to me that they think Aly will be reduced to bit parts in crap movies! I guess I just wanted her to finish off Buffy with more options.

Well I'll still go see it because I loved the other two and if there's more Aly in it then hopefully they can't go wrong. Heh, is anyone really going to mind if *shudders* Mena Suvari or Tara Reid or...that guy who played Kevin isn't in the third part?! Cheers to more Alyson/Michelle.

More Aly is always a good thing, though I wonder about AP3. I loved the first ones, especially two (more Aly) and I just wonder where they are going to go with that.

Jim and Michelle are together as of part 2. I just hope that they stay true to Michelle rather than just turn her into some emotional motivation for Jim to find wacky situations.

Whilst the other girls were essential in AP1, really on Michelle was in AP2. I would hate to see Aly reduced, as the always wonderful Natasha Lyonne was in AP2, to just showing up (though that was due to her committments I think.)

I love Alyson just as much as everyone else but I don't know about AP3. The studio is obviously doing it to get more money out of it, hell that's what they do with every movie but well I think I prefer Alyson do a lead in a different movie. I'm sure Alyson will be great in it as always but well the reason why I watched the second one was for her and well I like Alyson to do another type of movie.

I hope she don't get type-casted in these teen type movies. She is so much more talented then that.

As I used to say so often on HDC, I'd really like to see her in a "period" role someday: maybe one of the Jane Austen stories, or even a "toga-and-sandals" type of flick.:)

Well, it's a good thing Joss doesn't have anything to do with this movie or else Michelle would be sure to be killed off.

As for her being type-cast in teen-type movies, she's 28 now. She won't be able to pull those kind of roles off for much longer. She's definately got to get some more grown-up roles. A small role in a good movie would be better then a large role in a bad one. Not that I think AP3 will be bad, just probably not the sort of thing that will propel her career forward.

LOL. And her last words would be "Your Flute".

I think you're right about the age thing. Aly got away with looking much younger than her years for a long time but those days are coming to an end. She still looks young for her age, but she don't look 19 no more.

i agree she doesn't look 19 anymore. having to act all the trauma her character went through last year must have aged her. i think i even saw crows feet. oh, wait those were dark magic veins or something...

Alyson

Postby Willowlicious » Sun Aug 11, 2002 11:09 pm

No, Alyson doesn't look 19 anymore and I'm glad. I think she gets more attractive the closer she gets to 30. It must be my inner perv sensing that she is approaching her sexual peak. ;) Sigh. She could definitely play adults now. You dress her right and she almost looks her age (in a good way).

Anyway, I think small roles in some good dramatic films would be awesome for her. All she ever needs is a foot in the door and she tends to steal the show, so a small role in great film could make all the difference in the world to her career.

Hers is a genuine talent that deserves success and diversity. Here's to hoping.

ALY in AP3?

Postby primalfigure » Fri Aug 30, 2002 7:05 am

Hmmm. I Liked the AP movies the more she was in them. Yes! AP1 I couldn't relate to very well being a gay woman and all. AP2 was just too adorable because of Aly.

Sadly, I will have to see AP3. All because I love Alyson Hannigan to a pitiful degree.

There's nothing wrong with loving Aly to a pitiful degree. Please, I made my poor friend sit though not only the movie, but the outtakes, the commentaries and various other little bits and bobs. And then I insisted on making her watch that scene again with me...the one when Michelle claims Jim is making her wet... Ahem. For the quality of Aly's acting, naturally. :rolleyes

Oh, and Autumn...so funny. :lol
