This is exciting to me.Aly with a chance to get out of a certain no talent blond's shadow.NBC has at least one loyal viewer right here.

I would watch a documentary on the history of belly button lint if Aly was involved with it.

Does anyone know anything more, like what this comedy is going to be about or who else is going to be lucky enough to get to work with Aly?

I imagine we won't know till the pilot season begins. I imagine it's being developed now and wouldn't make it on our screens till at least next fall.

NBC Engages in Sibling Rivalry

Wed January 7, 2004 04:48 AM ET

By Nellie Andreeva

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - NBC has ordered a comedy pilot about a ne'er-do-well brother and his ex-nerd sister, re-entering each others' lives after not speaking for 18 months.

The untitled project is from writer-producers Matt Tarses and Bill Wrubel, two old friends who have worked together on ABC's "Sports Night" and the feature "A Guy Thing." They had talked about creating a show together for some time and found the sibling show idea the perfect hook for their first series.

"It just seems like a very relatable dynamic in that our relationships with our siblings, whom we love very much, can also be fraught with a lot of complexity and emotion," Wrubel said.

No actors have been attached to the project, though the producers have their eye on Alyson Hannigan for the female lead. The "American Pie" star has a talent deal with NBC and has met with the show's creative team but hasn't committed to the comedy.

Meanwhile, in its first pilot pickup this development season, CBS has ordered "Clubhouse," a coming-of-age drama from Mel Gibson's Icon Prods. and Spelling Television.

The project, written by Daniel Cerone (the WB Network's "Charmed"), is based on a yet-to-be-published book by Matt McGough about a Yankees bat boy.

NBC Sibling Comedy Eyes Hannigan

(Wednesday, January 07 02:55 PM)

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - NBC has given a greenlight to a sibling rivalry comedy from Matt Tarses and Bill Wrubel. The show's producers are hoping to score "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" co-star Alyson Hannigan to topline the project.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the untitled comedy focuses on an estranged brother and sister who haven't spoken in 18 months.

"It's about a brother, who is quite a bit of a ne'er-do-well, reentering his sister's life and them beginning to reconnect," says Jamie Tarses who, along with Karey Burke, will executive produce through the NBC Studios-based Untitled Burke/Tarses Project.

Matt Tarses and Wrubel worked together on ABC's "Sports Night" and the future "A Guy Thing." Tarses is currently a co-executive producer on NBC's "Scrubs," while Wrubel holds the same position for fellow "Must-See" entry "Will & Grace."

"It just seems like a very relatable dynamic in that our relationships with our siblings, who we love very much, can also be fraught with a lot of complexity and emotion," Wrubel says.

Hannigan, who will take the London stage this spring in "When Harry Met Sally" opposite Luke Perry, has a talent holding deal with NBC and has been looking for the right project. She reportedly has met with the show's creative team, though no further commitment is in place.

In other pilot news, CBS has ordered "Clubhouse," a drama from writer Daniel Cerone ("Charmed"), Mel Gibson's Icon Prods. and Spelling television. The project, based on a yet-to-be-published book by Matt McGough, is a coming-of-age story about a New York Yankees' batboy.

Yikes

Postby Hemiola » Thu Jan 08, 2004 9:11 pm

Yikes, I hope AH chooses a different project! :eek

There are already two (2) sitcoms using this basic format:

1. "Hope and Faith"--failed soap star (Kelly Ripa) moves in with her housewife sister (Faith Ford).

2. "Two and half Men"--divorced chiropracter (Jon Cryer) moves in with his jingle-writing brother (Charlie Sheen).

Of course, I will watch anything that she chooses to do, but I sincerely hope that she will pick something more original.:pray

For cryin' out loud, she's such a fabulous talent--there most be at least one writer/producer who knows how to make the most of it!

It must be very hard to come up with something that has not already been done before, but if the scripts are good, old ideas can avoid being boring or give that been there done that feeling. A show with Aly will already have a big head start, she can really add something special to what otherwise might have been just one of those 13 in a dozen type of movies or shows, as she has proven already.

Well the pilot has been announced,

Hannigan, 'Friendlys' in NBC camp

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "American Pie" flautist Alyson Hannigan has committed to star in the pilot for NBC's untitled comedy about an estranged brother and sister.

Hannigan had been eyeing the project -- which revolves around the relationship between a brother and his sister who haven't spoken in 18 months -- and had met with its producers when it was still in development. Talks accelerated after the pilot was picked up this month, leading to the pact with Hannigan, who has a talent deal with NBC.

Hannigan next stars as Sally in the London stage version of Rob Reiner's 1989 film "When Harry Met Sally ..."

Meanwhile, NBC has picked up "The Friendlys," a comedy pilot revolving around a fight between a dead candy mogul's trophy wife and his daughter over the business.
