Aly is soooo cute in this movie :drool : it's great to see her rise up from her look and character in the first one to now, who woulda thought that in the end band camp girl would be the leading lady!

The article is pretty much about the teen sex movie genre. The cast of AW are recreating some famous teen sex movies.

Alyson looks great in the trailer and pics, but oh boy some of the jokes remind me of There is Something About Mary in a not so good way. I will go see this of course, it's Aly, lots of it.

I can't believe you either missed or forgot this little bit in Premier magazine. On pages 80-81 they asked celebs who they'd "Switch Sides" for. Here's Aly's answer:

"Oh man, do I have to pick just one? Like Angelina Jolie, you know that's a no-brainer. Oh jeez, oh gosh, Jodie Foster, because she's so brilliant. There's so many women who are just beautiful and talented, but the best one for me is Angelina Jolie.... I think my friends and I have asked each other that question. It's always great--it's like the guys that come out just a little too fast and say it, it's like, wow, you've been thinking about this, haven't you? But you know who a lot of guy friends said they'd switch teams for? It's little Owen Wilson. Which makes me proud to be their friends."

Just the kind of hard hitting journalism I like.:D

Actually, RockTB, I agree with you about the "AP" series as a whole: gross-out adolescent sexual humor is not really my idea of entertainment.

However, the development of the series does show that at least some producers have brains and know a good thing when they see it (unlike some other producers we could name:wink ).

In the original, Alyson Hannigan turned what was supposed to be a very minor character ("Michelle the Band Geek") into the very thing that got people talking about the series! Realizing their astonishing good luck, they wisely made Michelle the subject of about 40% of "AP2". Hopefully, they will realize "where their bread is buttered" and make Michelle/Alyson the subject of 90% of "American Wedding". Here's hopin'....:pray

90% screen time for Alyson Hannigan looks to be a safe bet since she's the only female character to be returning from the first two in the series, as far as I can tell.

The now legendary "And this one time at band camp..." scene allowed Alyson to steal the show and make everyone forget there were other women in the film.

The second one kept the other women on the periphery and allowed Alyson to show off more of her comedic acting chops we know she's capable of.

The third one will allow her to take center stage and show the world that she's an acting goddess at home wherever she deigns to grace us with her presence.:flower

"Acting Goddess"...I couldn't have put it better:)

Yesterday, I was lucky enough to catch a trailer/promo for "AP3" on the E! channel. It provided an interesting new piece of information: the full name of Alyson's character:

I saw the trailer the other day! I was happy because it was Aly, which makes for the happy. . .

The only reason for this inane post is to state that her wedding dress looks like globs of coolwhip.

Review from AICN

Postby drlloyd11 » Thu Jul 10, 2003 8:53 am

This is from the fan boys from aicn (the home of herc and a bigger band of dweebs there never where).

To me this sounds like a good review (you have to filter out the noise here).

"

I have recently had the opportunity to see unfinished versions of American Wedding, the end of the American Pie trilgoy, and School of Rock. I must say that I have never seen it as clearly as I do now how prevalent the formula is in hollywood films. It is like we are meandering in Mad Lib Cinema. It is ridiculous. They have found a way to tell a story and they never deviate. They just pop in new nouns, verbs, adjectives in the like in to a dinky computer and poof comes out a script. I am not saying that I don't enjoy the hijinks of jim, stiffler et al, but it is the exact same thing as before. Jim does something disgusting with his member, stiffler embarasses himself, we see nude women, stiffler makes us laugh, eesh. It is amazing how much screen time, though. He is by far the funniest character but he has become a caricature of himself, he is more like his character in "Dude where's my car" but he cusses every third word.

In case you haven't watched the trailers or read about it in the many entertainment magazines, American Wedding takes place three years after part 2. They have all graduated from college and at the beginning of the movie Jim and Michelle get engaged. The movie is how they get ready for the marriage ceremony. Oz and all of the other American Pie Girls are gone, and the guy who played "the kid in king arthurs court," is barely there. I think that they cut out his entire sub-plot.

There are some really funny scenes, but that is all there is, just things to laugh at. The story is so thread-bare that it seems almost episodic. They have just put one funny scene after another. In the other American Pie movies they all seem to learn a lesson at the end, here it is just tomfoolery, but, well, you know, I like tomfoolery. So, in essence, if you like the gang, and like to giggle at disgusting gags, go right for it.

The AICN folks seem determined to pan any project that BTVS actors do outside of ME. I suspect they will have alot to pan since I doubt many of those actors will be working with ME again. I'm looking forward to AP3. I have both AP and AP2 on DVD and they are alot of fun. AP2 in particular had alot of great Aly stuff. I hope Aly can use AP3 to expand her movie career.
