Amber at Moonlight Rising 2006 June 2-4

Hey all.

I didn't see a post for this on here, but Amber did attend Moonlight Rising this past weekend June 2-4 in the Poconos. This was my first time meeting her and she exceeded all of my expectations.

After reading about others experiences, I had nothing but got expectations. I did not stay at the host resort for several reasons, but got a Saturaday day pass.

I had a photoshoot with Amber and it was about ten minutes after I arrived at the hotel. I was rather nervous because, hello, Amber Benson now in the same room as me... She was really nice. I watched the people going up to take pictures with her and she always had something nice to say to people. When it was my turn, I went up and dropped off my stuff. She commented about the amount of stuff that I had with me (shoulder bag and a few other things) and asked where I was from. She commented about the area, knowing a bit about some of the local food from my state and then she put her arm around me for the picture... OMG. Needless to say, I now have a favorite picture of me... lol.

Then I had a bit of time for lunch before her Q&A. I went in and nabbed a good seat for the Q&A. She took questions about anything and everything from the audience. She said she didn't have anythinig specifically prepared so we could just ask away. About 75 percent of the questions were about her other work (writing, working with Chris Golden, other films and projects), which I think she was pleased to see. I asked her about impression was on set of Buffy since her first episode was Hush, which was totally different from a normal Buffy episode with lots of dialogue. She also commented on filming the last scene in Entropy. That had the audience intrigued to say the least! There were many great moments including a misquote of Star Wars that will now forever be "Use the fork, Luke" in my mind.

During the autograph session, I took one of my drawings to get signed. I was a bit nervous because it's a bit different showing your artwork her and then to the actual person. She said it was beautiful and gladly signed it.

Amber was absoutely a sweetheart and exceeded any expectation that I had. Thank you Amber, for making this Kitten's weekend!

Willow~Rosenberg - Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm glad you had such a great time (of course it's hard not to when Amber is involved, but after the horror that was MR 2004, it is best not to assume!) (heehee)

Thanks again for sharing - always nice to live vicariously through another Kitten when you can't make it to an event!! Now if we can just get you to post your picture with Amber!

I probably won't post my pic with Amber, but I do have other pics from Saturday. Maybe I can get them posted later. I remember people saying that the previous convention Amber attended with MR was horrible due to location, organization, etc., so I was keeping that in mind as I was posting.

About what Amber said about the kiss in Entropy:

Amber said that she thinks she made Aly nervous that day. She commented that Alyson never sweats when she was on set, but she was sweating when they were doing that scene. Then Amber added that was probably because she slipped her some tongue during that kiss.

I was very amused by that bit of information and so was the rest of the audience. She seemed happy during the commentary as we got to hear her laugh a lot during it.

btw....let me say something about organization, and please if someone from the orginizers reading this, don't kill me and don't put any explanations I don't really need them. Anyone...and I do mean anyone could've attended any ofthe events....I was walking around without my badge the whole freaking convention....no one asked me to show it... I was able to attend any event. Whereas it might be good, because that shows call it....trust....but if I was someone who paid $800....believe me... I'd be pissed... lol.... you basically could only get to the hotel...and then walk around at the convention attending pretty much every single event. As for Sunday schedule......if I had a ticket only for sunday.... I'd be screaming.... the whole schedule got changed...and chanaged and changed..... I missed the Q&A on Sunday because of that.... sorry for ranting...

As an attendee of all four Moonlight Rising conventions, yes Amber and I share emotional scars from the Friar Tuck, this was a far better and much more intimate weekend of Ambery goodness than 2003.
Primarily due to the fact that in 2003, I was all to be in the same room with Amber.
This year, having gained confidence and steeped in Amberholism, I have wonderful Amber stories aplenty.
Friday night for the cocktail party, I was standing around talking with a few people when someone told me, what with the Amberholics t-shirt I was wearing and my username of taralicious on my membership badge, I might want to know that Amber had arrived and was standing right behind me.
I went over to say hello.
Amber saw a woman wearing a "Lover, Liars, and Lunatics" t-shirt and me wearing my Amberholics t-shirt and said that she should be wearing a t-shirt with her photo on it.
Later at the Diamond Party, Amber came and sat down next to me and asked who did the artwork for the Amberholics t-shirt and said that the drawing was prettier than her.
i told Amber that no one was prettier than her which won me one of Amber's beautiful smiles.
Saturday morning at her photo shoot, I was wearing my "Chance" t-shirt and when i got up to have my photo with Amber, i told her I was helping to spread the word, at which she told me I was very sweet and she put her arm around me for the photo shoot and caressed my back as well.
I won the seat next to her in an auction at the banquet and she bought the table a bottle of wine and made a lovely toast.
So I drank to the health of Amber.
I had her sign both my copy of Accursed and the photo of she and I.
She and I talked about the difficulties of researching historical period detail for novels and the pitfalls of anachronistic item placement.

-She said that she was reading a book (can’t remember the name or the author) that she came across because her dad got her supscription to EW (Entertaiment weekly) and she was reading a column that got her attention, she liked the sense of humor and decided to read some books that the author of the column suggested (I’m pretty sure I got it right) LOL

-She also mentioned about Alyson “wicked” sense of humour and that she’s not as “innocent” as Willow. I think one night Aly had “Sex Bingo” or something like that but Amber was out of town. And she talked about dirty jokes they shared on the set.

-Amber likes Johnny Depp

-She also said that Alyson never sweats. But Aly was sweating after their kiss (I’m not sure in which episode) to which Amber said to Aly “oh…I make you nervous?” :

-She had hard time falling asleep so she drank some kind of medicine but it only made her wobbly..lol

-Someone asked her where would she like to work if not in Hollywood and she said in Starbucks : She likes coffee and it makes people happy “and it’s not like it’s a drug or anything!!!” She was sugar high on Cinnamon Buns LOL : She also likes to write. She can control the universe and get to be in a small little world of her own.

-Someone asked her if she likes to write by herself or with someone. She said she really did enjoy working with Chris and that right now she’s writing a novel (I think a novel) all by herself. She actually said that she blocks time for writing’

-Again someone asked her if she feels like she’s typecast and she said somewhat, she likes horrors.

-Lunatics probably going to be released in a limited distribution and they are talking with someone, so it might be straight to video

-She read “The Da Vinci code” and she liked it, but she wasn’t sure how Tom Hanks was in it, if he is really Robert…lol So from what I understood she hasn’t seen the movie yet

- someone asked her what she likes to do when she’s not working. reading: she read Nora Roberts and she liked it!!! There is a triology and she can’t wait to read another 2 : Likes to fix house, buys pillow…it’s her new obsession. Pillows. Someone got her into cartoons “family guy”. “south park” and something else I didn’t catch..

-She called herself a TV junkie, she didn’t use to watch that much, but she is now.

-Someone asked her what was her dream job when she was a kid, she said that she always wanted to make movies. She liked to watch Indiana Jones….and all of his adventures.

-I asked her about how she got the job on “The Inside”. She said she was called and asked. She likes to work with Adam Baldwin.

-She also said something about people idealizing and that “you still a human being who makes mistakes, who hurts people”
