The photo of Amber and the baby proves conclusively that no one is immune from the radiance and charm that Amber exudes from her very essence.

She works her charm so well on kids from 1-92.:tara :bigkiss

I'm going to the signing in Leicester on the 4th, can anyone suggest what sort of time I should arrive? I really need to be standing in line for as short a time as possible.

There was an article on Amber's visit to Forbidden Planet in Aberdeen in the Daily Record today. The Daily Record is Scotlands' biggest selling news paper but you can get it in England too. There's a nice picture of Amber in it and a picture of an enormous queue outside the shop. Qudos to those who went, it was freezing in Scotland yesterday. Anyway the article went as follows, it's on page 19 for those who have the paper.

Headline - Undead Keen

Sub Headline - Hundreds of Buffy fans turn out to meet TV star

Cult TV star Amber Benson cast a spell on hordes of fans yesterday.

Amber, 26, who played witch Tara in the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, drew hundreds of admirers to an autograph signing session in Aberdeen.

Despite having a heavy cold, the star chatted and joked with her fans while she signed autographs.

Aberdeen was her only Scottish stop on a trip to promote the film Chance, which she wrote, directed and produced, as well as taking the starring role.

In the black comedy, her character is a 20-something girl "looking for love in all the wrong places". The film has already attracted critical acclaim in the US.

Yesterday, Amber said she was overwhelmed that as many as 400 people - some of whom had begun queueing at 10am - had turned up to meet her.

She said: "I love getting to meet everybody. By sitting around on the set for 17 hours a day, you do not tend to realise the impact the show is having on everyone who watches it. I am quite happy to sign anything they bring along. If they are prepared to lug it here, I will sign it. It is the first time I have been this far north in Scotland and it is beautiful. I wish I had more time to explore."

Since leaving Buffy, Amber has turned more of her efforts to writing, which she used to fit in around her scenes on set.

She wrote and produced the online animated drama The Ghosts of Albion in collaboration with the BBC. The second episode is due to be released soon.

And she and co-writer Christopher Golden are finalising a deal for a series of Ghost of Albion books.

Buffy Actress Casts A Spell On Witchcraft Fans

BY ANGELA TAYLOR

09:00 - 03 January 2004

Witch hunters descended on Aberdeen yesterday to catch a glimpse of Amber Benson, better known as powerful white witch Tara from cult TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Fans queued from about 10am to meet Miss Benson at the Forbidden Planet shop for a signing session not due to begin for another five hours.

The queue stretched from the shop, down Schoolhill and through the Bon Accord Centre and by 5pm, two hours after the session started, it was still as long.

She is the third Buffy cast member to visit the shop, and early indications are that she was the most popular yet.

The first star of the US show to visit the shop was Anthony Head, who plays the slayer’s watcher and mentor Giles. Fans queued from the Schoolhill shop to the Cowdray Hall to meet him.

Claire Kramer, who played evil goddess Glory, was also popular with north-east fans.

Miss Benson, who was nursing a heavy cold, said she was delighted to be in the city.

It was the first time she had been so far north, but she had previously visited Edinburgh and Glasgow.

"It’s beautiful. I love Aberdeen and I really want to explore it. People have been really friendly and there’s no monsters - at least I’ve not seen any yet."

She added that she was constantly surprised by the number of fans who turned up to events.

"It’s very weird. You don’t imaging this being your life when you’re on set for 17 hours a day working. You’re kind of displaced from reality."

The actress said she had never had any nasty encounters or letters because of her involvement in the show, which deals with many occult issues, but she had received pamphlets extolling religious virtues, and letters from people who promised to pray for her.

The Buffy the Vampire series has ended but Miss Benson remains busy, mainly writing.

She recently worked with Chris Golden to write Ghosts of Albion, which was turned into an animated film for the BBC. The story was also broadcast on radio.

The pair are currently writing two books based on the animated show. She added that she filled her free time on the Buffy set by writing, while most of her co-stars knitted.

Miss Benson was also promoting her new film Chance which she wrote, produced, directed and stars in. She portrays the title character, a girl looking for love in all the wrong places.

She spent Christmas and Hogmanay in Edinburgh and had planned to join the Hogmanay celebrations but was not too disappointed when they were cancelled because she was ill in bed.

Forbidden Planet manager Jenny Mitchell said Miss Benson’s appearance was probably the most popular yet.

She said: "Signings in general are always popular but the Buffy ones are the biggest. It’s good for us. On the day there’s not much in the way of sales, but it’s getting the fans in and getting our name promoted among the fans and local people."

:sob poor Amber stuck being sick in bed on the holidays :sob

Things like that just should NOT be allowed in life...she's too nice to deserve that kind of "luck".

But...on a sort of amusing note...depending on how you choose to interpret this...

you could read it as "they cancelled the celebrations BECAUSE Amber was ill in bed"...:lol

I went to see Amber in Aberdeen and I want to dispell a few rumours here.

1) Anyone who has said that she is friendly, kind and fun to talk to were under-selling her.

2) No picture in the world can prepare you for the beauty that is Amber right there and then (and considering she was carrying a cold, all the more remarkable).

I gave her a present and birthday card that my friends and I bought for her (I hope she will like them).

She was brilliant. Not only did she sign my stuff but also books for my friends Caroline and Yvonne. Caroline was too disabled to make the trip and Yvonne, her fiancee, wouldn't go without her as they both want to meet Amber together.

However, I am worried about Amber having such a good memory. I came across as a dork due to being so shy and nervous and star-struck. I worry that I will be remembered as the "babbling idiot".

Oooh god you're not the only one AmbersSecretAdmirer! I think you just hit the nail on the head about how i felt too! I couldve kicked myself for being such a freak afterwards. I went to the Middlesbrough signing and i was kinda struck dumb thinking wow... whereas inside my head was screaming "say something idiot!" lol I'm shy anyway so i knew it was gonna happen. She was so sweet tho, putting me at ease joking around with me and i was fine. I know everyone says it but you cant meet a nicer person. Her yumminess is just a bonus. She did look really tired, bless her but she still has so much energy, she was practically bouncing around

The original signing was from 3-5pm... and we were kinda worried cos she was 2.5 hrs late (i'm not complaining btw) She arrived about 5.30 and she was still there at 8pm. I dont know when she left cos we had to go before we got stuck with no way home. The woman is amazing, words cant describe :)

Yeah, those little microbes have all the luck, don't they?

They get to snuggle up to Amber whenever they feel like it.

Yes Amber has an incredible memory but she is also incredibly kind and completely understanding of the quirky manner in which some of us (read me) behave when first meeting her :heart .

Oh you kitties are so lucky going to the Aberdeen signing. I would have liked to go, but unfortunately I don't live in Aberdeen anymore....kind of a problem. Although I'm not sure I would have been brave enough to go. I went to the Anthony Head signing and could barely say anything! I felt like such an idiot. So you can imagine how dorky I would have been in front of Amber!

I didin't know that she was in Edinburgh for New Year - so was I. If only she hadn't been ill, I might have bumped into her, well it could happen!!
