I was bored and there was no daily thread yet so here you go. Some kinda goofy questions. Feel free to add your own if you have some. I'm sure there are sites out there with more.

These, however, I stole these from the Reader's Digest.

RDCHALLENGE by Will Shortz

1. Where can anybody but you sit?

2. Why would a cleaning person prefer to wash a mirror than a window of the same size, assuming both are easily accessible?

3. How can you throw a ball so it will reverse direction and return to you without the ball bouncing against or touching any solid object?

4. Your bed and a light switch are 15 feet apart. Without using any object or mechanical device - no pole, no remote switch - how can you turn off the light and get into bed before the room is dark?

5. Rusty's Montana cabin is almost buried in snow, and the temperature is 25 below zero. Rusty's eyes move from the single match he has in his hand to a candle, an oil lamp and a fireplace with kindling-all ready to be lit. Which does he light first?

6. What common mechanized transports in New York City (120,000 of them) carry three times as many passengers daily as all the city's subways, trains, buses, cars and taxis combined?

7. Why didn't William Howard Taft run for a third term as President?

8. What is cowhide chiefly used for?

9. Can you rearrange these letters into one long word: doornonegwl?

10. If Betsy Ross were living today, what would she be most noted for?

Answers, highlight to view:

1. Your lap

2. A mirrior usually has only one side

3. Throw the ball straight up

4. Go to bed during daylight

5. The match

6. Elevators

7. He was never elected to a second term

8. For holding cows together

9. One long word

10. Her age

I am like so brain dead on friday, I got none of those. Not even the one where you throw the ball up. Gosh sloow brain.

In other news it's friday!! YAY! WEEKEND! I need it. Long week and I desperately need rest. I wish I could stay home for a day but I can't since I save them for traveling lol. Also because I am sent to meetings and more meetings and more meetings. I have to miss 2 days next week for meetings. Sometimes it feels like I never teach and then I feel guilty when I have to take days for me. Bleh, enough ranting.

Oh and I found a question from google!

There are 5 apples in a basket and five people in a room. How can you give an apple to each person in the room and yet leave one apple in the basket.

answer (highlight):

You give one of them an apple in the basket !!

Brain dead too.
ETA must be doing better than I thought, only missed 2.

I am blaming lack of sleep.

I just got around to reading my morning paper and found this, might interest some.

Not to far away from me either really.

Have a good friday night!

Oh, I love those! We used to have to figure out questions like those in school, they were always fun. I'm proud to say I got almost all of them right, aside from the one about Taft and the one about Betsy Ross. Oh, and I didn't get the apple one, either. But I'm feeling all smart now. :dance Anyway, thanks for posting those questions, that was fun.
Always,
Kristin

Oh, these things are really old hat for me. Just ate this stuff up in grade school.

Here's a few more:

1. A train leaves New York for Chicago at 9:00, travelling at 80 mph. Another train leaves Chicago for New York at 9:45, travelling at 90 mph. How far apart will the trains be when they pass each other?

2. What word in this post is mispelled?

3. If Mr Smith's peacock lays an egg in Mr Jones' yard, who owns the egg?

4. There are two American coins which total 35 cents. One of them is not a dime. What are the two coins?

5. When travelling from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean on the Panama Canal, do you travel east or west?

6. If a plane crashes on the border between the US and Canada, where do they bury the survivors?

7. How much dirt is there in a hole 3 ft deep, 6 ft long and 4 ft wide?

Highlight the answers:
1. Likely a few yards at most, if they're passing each other.
2. 'mispelled' - it's supposed to have 2 s's.
3. Neither - peahens lay eggs, not peacocks.
4. 'One of them' is a quarter, the other is a dime.
5. On the canal itself, you would travel generally north.
6. Survivors tend not to be buried.
7. None - it's an (empty) hole.

I got the answers to most except the "one long word" and cowhide. My brain was working pretty good I guess. At least you didn't throw those questions at us on a Monday morning.
My grandfather used to trick my brothers and I with questions like that but do you think I can remember any? NO!!
Enjoy whats left of your weekend.

Love to All,
Barb

Hee, I love these. Of all the questions by BytrSuite, xita, and Kalita, I only missed two of them. (cowhide and the Panama Canal - no good with geography!!) And I've been up all night, too. I shouldn't be this alert.

This isn't a trick question so much as a joke (a bad one):

Which is worse: ignorance or apathy?

Answer (highlight): I don't know and I don't care.

Told you it was bad. Sorry. Only one I could think of at the moment.
