I suppose that's possible, but I chose to read the scene in "The Gift" as demonstrating the emotional and mental intimacy they share (as well as the physical intimacy, of course
)...they are so close and understand each other so well that sometimes there isn't even a need for explicit communication.

Mission accomplished. I can't quite believe I took off at 9:15 at night and drove about 25 miles (with gas prices being what they are, and considering I have to be in the Valley tomorrow morning anyway) just to get it, but I got it!
The cashier looked at me in kind of a terrified manner when I came charging through the front doors with a manic look in my eyes and a "Kitten on a mission" stride. Wasn't too thrilled with my picking the book up off the handcart they were about to use to move a bunch of new books across the store.
But I don't care. I got it.

The good news is that my copies of both Tara-full books have now shipped from Amazon. Yippee!!
The bad news is that they're due to get here on Thursday, when I'll be in Richmond. Awww...
Looks like I'll have to wait until I get home on Sunday. I've made it this far so I guess I can go a little farther. Good thing I have all those race cars to keep me occupied.
I
and am trying so hard not to flip...if anyone's wondering about the price(I had 50 cents left to spare..*phew* thank goddess for change) my book came to $7.51 at Barnes and Nobel's.------------------

Ok...there's a cool scene where Tara learns from Willow how to turn herself into a crow(during a spell casting); Tara turns into a crow and finds herself flying with Willow(who's also a crow) through the city. All this has to do with finding a missing character.
Yeah it's a good read but the W/T moment's are fewer than the first book, the only reason i found the above one was cause I flipped(my bad I know); but it's still a good read.
Wonder when they'll do a W/T book???

Um...is it just me or are they reaching here?
Not as many W/T moments? Bummer.

Kate gets cool stuff to do, as do Gunn and Phantom Dennis (I always love it when PD gets involved). Oh, and here's a cute bit of Anya/Tara interaction:
quote:
(Giles, Anya, and Tara are walking from the magick shop, and encounter several demons running around in the night. Anya is identifying them.)"Dangerous?" Giles asked, glancing over his shoulder.
"Only if it's hungry." Anya juggled a small, beaded purse and her shopping bags, looped her currently blond, curly hair around her ears. "Then, watch out."
"Is that one hungry?" Giles asked, glancing over his shoulder.
"Hard to say. If it devours one of us in a single gulp, I'd say yes." Her voice rang with calm authority. She knit her brows and said to Tara, "What? You're looking at me very strangely."
"I-I was just thinking what a great t-tour guide you'd make," Tara fibbed as she worked to keep up with Giles. He was much taller than she, and his legs were longer.
"Tour guide," Anya considered. "That might be an interesting occupation. But what would I be a tour guide of?"
"Hell, maybe?" Tara blurted.
Anya's face fell. "Their union's really tight. It's hard to get in."
(And that's not even one of the screamingly funny bits, one of which deals with sex and Nostradamus, and another of which deals with Giles, Joyce, and sex. Yes, of course sex--this is Anya here!)
Also, it's really cute--every time Willow's on the phone looking for Tara, there's a description of Tara's face lighting up into a huge smile that inspires mushy feelings in whoever happens to observe the moment.
One of the things I liked overall about the book is that it taps more into the characters' psychological issues which were only briefly touched on in "The Burning," related to the theme of "Unseen." Giles's feelings of being too old and unneeded, for example, or Angel observing that Cordelia seems to see herself as a coward even though she's not. Rather a fun read, I thought. After I skimmed for W/T bits and actually settled down to read it.
Edited to add: Ack! Okay, okay, Rane, I'm working on it! *fans ass, which is scorched from gettin' fire breathed on it*

i've never read buffy novels till the last unseen. one thing that really irked me from the get go was the whole description of the book: buffy's old friend from high school needs help. hello, she was willow's friend from college. just stupid silly things like that that have no continuity piss me off.
but i guess the crow thing is kinda reaching. any more scenes?
and shanie darling, i told you i was a fic psycho.
it's just you left us hanging!

"Hold on." Buffy listened to someone else for a moment. "Is Tara there?""Yes, she's-she's in the other room."
"Willow wants her."
"All right, hang on," he said. "And Buffy, be careful." He carried the phone to Tara. "Tara, Willow would like to speak to you," he said.
Tara's face brightened as she took the phone and murmured softly, "Hi." Her cheeks grew rosy; her lips curved into a sweet smile.
Giles turned away from the intimate moment, not wanting to disturb, moved from the living room and headed for the bathroom.
quote:
The phone rang on Giles's desk. Tara said, "I think it's Willow." Giles gave her a nod to pick it up, which she did, and her cheeks reddened. She smiled up at Buffy, who smiled back, figuring it could be no one else other than Willow, to create such happiness and relief on Tara's soft features."Hi, Willow," Tara murmured, looping her blond hair around her ear. "What's going on up there?"
Tara listened intently for at least a minute.
Which, when you're listening to someone else listening on the phone, is a pretty long time, Buffy thought impatiently.
"All right. Um, you, too." Tara smiled and hung up the phone.
*sniffle* They're so adorable even from a distance!!! (Somewhere in here, Buffy thinks to herself that she can tell Tara doesn't like being apart from Willow.)

She was flying beside a sleek, black crow with a twinkle in its eyes. It was her Willow, and she flapped her wings to keep up with her. They swooped and soared above the streets of Los Angeles, on a bright and brilliant afternoon. Cars and buses clogged the streets, the sidewalks were bursting with busy people, color, and motion. It was a glorious, beautiful day."It wasn't liket his last time," Willow said.

Thanks for posting them.

There were so many W/T scenes cut because there were so many W/T scenes [i:35d73f7dc5]period[/i:35d73f7dc5]. Everyone seems to love writing them because Willow and Tara are so wonderful and romantic together, and there just isn't room for all of the scenes.
There's always enough room in a book, though...

quote:
After a very, very, very long time, they reached Giles's condo. There were very few monsters around, and Buffy, Riley, and Spike killed enough of them to make a dash for the door.As they ran up the stairs, Buffy said, "Come on, Mom," looked down at her, and added, "Why weren't you wearing a bathrobe?"
"I'm so sorry, dear," Joyce countered, padding along in her bare feet. "What could I have been thinking of? Perhaps my life?"
"You were the one who used to tell me to put on clean underwear, in case I was in an accident."
Giles opened his front door.
"I never did," Joyce protested. "Good evening, Mr. Giles."
"Good evening." He smiled as if they had never had sex on the hood of a car and moved courteously out of the way. His smile faded when he saw Spike. "WHat are you doing back?"
Xander plopped down next to Anya, on the sofa. "It must be cold outside," Anya observed. She smiled at Joyce's chest.
"Oh." Joyce was abashed. She looked to Buffy, who said, "Giles, where's your bathrobe?"
"Upstairs. In the loft," he said.
"I'll get it, honey." Joyce turned and started up the stairs.
Buffy turned to Giles and she and Riley began telling him about the situation both in L.A. and in Sunnydale. Which was: demons, demons, demons.
"What?" Anya said in response to something Xander had murmured to her. Only she spoke in a loud, confused voice. "Everyone knows they had sex. It's common knowledge."
"Everyone knows we have sex, too," Xander said, pressing his mouth tightly in his signature ay-chihuahua smile. "But they don't really like to dwell on it."
"Why not? It's a pleasurable activity, and our friends care about our pleasure." She smiled at Giles. "I'm glad you found pleasure having sex with Buffy's mother."
Above them, in the loft, Joyce closed her eyes as she belted Giles's thick terrycloth robe and shook her head.
Looks like I'm going to die of embarrassment instead of dismemberment.
Maybe I should have let the monsters kill me.

Thanks for the excerpts everyone. I will definately pick this one up tomorrow at BN
As for amazon, preordering from them is a waste of time. They never get it out when they are supposed to, and have been known to take months to ship out pre-ordered items {a friend of mine pre-ordered the X-Men movie and he didn't recieve till a month after the release date.}
Just to go a little off topic here, tommo I need to ask you a question. Can you email me saphir76@pacbell.net please? {can't find any contact info for you} Thanks.

Question: Willow and Tara can turn themselves into crows and back into humans, but they can't de-rat Amy? That's making a kind of sense that's not.
And people really seem to enjoy looping their blonde hair over their ears in this book, don't they?
The W/T bits are quite sigh-worthy though...I can totally picture Tara's lips curving into that sweet smile when she hears Willow's voice...*sigh*
See?
I
hey i wanna post quotes too *pouts* but i skimed the second book and it has even less stuff w/t oriented *cries, damn seperate cities* so heres some stuff from Unseen
he Burning
(sorry if any been posted)
this is probebly my fav part. cuz its..awww.all shyness and stuff..pg 118
"Be careful Willow," Taa said, takin Willows hand in hers. She looked into her friend's sea green eyes, touched her cheek tenderly. Willow's red hair brushed against the backs of her fingers. "Do a warding spell for the car."
"I will," Willow replied softly, "You be careful, too, Tara. We don't know what it is. If anything happened to you. . ." She trailed off, and Tara's answering smile was sweet and shy.
. . . . . Then Riley and Buffy stopped talking and brought their lips together in a passionate kiss. Tara looked away giving them their privacy. She noticed that Salma was looking at her own shoes.
And Willow was looking right at her. Which meant no one else was looking at them.
She kissed Willow goodbye.
awww...this part kinda made me smile
"Its me Tara. " Tara said. "Um, is Willow there?"
Buffy was amused. Was Tara actually too shy to call her own sweetie? "Yes hold on"
*conversation*
"Wouldyou like to speak to Willow?"
"Oh, um y-yes" Tara Said
Willow siled, realizing at once who it was. She too kthe phone and said softly, "Hi."
Buffy turned to Salmas parents. But theyd both dismissed the phone call as unimportant, clearly concentrating on the dissapearance of tehir daughter.
[i:7c05601999]Maybe i won't have kids after all,[/i:7c05601999] Buffy thought, She had a quick mental image of some little girl begging to spend the night at Aunt Willow and Aunt Tara's, to play with Miss Kitty Fantastico and do witchy stuff.
yeha...lol

Here's some context for the crow:
quote:
She said, "You know how Willow did that crow thing?" Everyone nodded. "They want me to try to do it with them. See, you usually have someone transform 'of the wing,' and someone else 'of the claw.' The wing is the one who searches, and the claw protects her. They had to do it without a claw because Doa Pilar had to anchor Willow."
A little later on:
quote:
"I have to help, if I can," Tara replied. Her flush deepened. She's scared for Willow, Buffy realized.
And Willow missing Tara at the beginning of the boook.
quote:
Willow leaned back and closed her eyes. She wished Tara had come. Or, not. I'd prefer her to be out of danger. Which, Sunnydale, you have to figure danger, sure, but-
She's interrupted then later,
quote:
Willow said "Okay" in a tiny voice as a bullet tore through the door; she felt the hair on the back of of her head lift as it missed the hollow at the base of her skull by a fraction of an inch. Chills shot up and down her spine; she trembled violently, realizing she had barely missed being hit. Struggling to concentrate, she murmured a quick protection spell for herself, the ex-Commando, and the Slayer, and thought once more of Tara."
