W / T - Majoring in what?

I couldn't find any posts on this subject doing a search, so here's the question -

Have either Willow or Tara ever mentioned what they're going to college for (besides a degree... (duh!) )?
Or, has there been any mention, whether on screen or in one of the scripts, what either of them are majoring in?

You know I had this question, too - at least about Tara.

As far as I know Willow's major is computer science. But what is Tara's major?

The only thing I ever remembered about their courses was Sophomore Level Psychology

Drama (of course). And what about the class that Tara attended with Buffy this season...was it classical mythology or something?

Tara, Willow and Buffy were also talking about The Hunchback of Notre Dame if you remember (although I know Buffy checking out Tara's butt might have confused many of you...). That was in 'Crush'.

Greek Art was the class Buffy and Tara took together ("Triangle"). I could see Tara majoring in something like that - mythology, literature, or art history (liberal artsy stuff).

I always thought of Willow in computer science with a minor in chemistry (for the spells) and Tara as a religious studies/theology major or psychology. Tara would be a great psychologist.

Willow's such an overachiever she'll probably have a double or triple major and a couple (or five) minors. But she'll never stop going to college... she'll just sort of gradually segue into teaching it.

I've been working with the idea of Tara as an anthropology major; it strikes me as the sort of field that would interest her. *shrug* That's what I've got her as in my story, at any rate.

And yeah, I can see Willow ending up with about four different degrees, at least.

Willow as a lifelong student? yup, I sure can see it. :-) Especially since I have a brother basically in the same position, and the similarities are freaky. School forever - whether as teacher or student?!? Yee gads!

Ooooh...Willow as a professor in some lovely American Uni. I can see her with a pair of tortoiseshell glasses perched on her nose, giving the students intense lectures whilst occasionally going into babble mode about her own life...

And then, one day, some student will spot her on campus with her lovely blonde girlfriend....sigh....

I can see Willow majoring in computer science with a minor in chemistry and Tara in ancient history with a minor in psychology. I can also see them both ending up as professors at USC.

In answer to the original question, there's been no official mention of what our girls might be majoring in...you're generally not required to declare a major until your junior year anyway. Although, according to Buffy, Willow chose her major in play group.

Computer science seems like a good bet for Will, and I agree with dreadpirateemily that Tara, with her empathic nature, would make a great psychologist. But I like to imagine her majoring in Classical Studies...not sure why exactly, although Latin and Greek might come in handy with spells--and the Greek Art course she took with Buffy would fit into that.

Regarding the mentioning of Willow's major, the shooting script for "Buffy vs Dracula" says:

Willow: "I was gonna structure my major around computer science - but now I don't knowwhat if drama class is awesome?"

Don't know if this clears it up any, since we never heard how that oft-mentioned drama class turned out. I think this is the only mention of a potential major though.

Just a thought--

At [i:0b7c17256b]my[/i:0b7c17256b] university you didn't have to choose your major until Junior year--but you [i:0b7c17256b]did[/i:0b7c17256b] have to choose your college (Art& Science in my case--Education or Business were the other two choices).

Is this true of the UC system?

It was a while ago that I was at UC (Berkeley) but you did have to choose your college when entering. I knew quite a few people that changed colleges, and majors.

More to the point, I knew of one person (a guy) who was majoring in- I kid you not- Witchcraft. He was in one of those "design your own major" programs that require department sponsorship, which shouldn't be a problem for a whiz like Willow. His department was anthropology.

Back in season three episode "The Choice" when Willow tells Buffy she's decided to attend UC Sunnydale. She says "Sunnydales not bad and I can design my own curriculum." So I guess Willow will be getting her BA in Willow Studies. And I would be surprised if Tara isn't atleast minor in Willow Studies her self.

There are a few schools in the UK that offer graduate degrees in the History of Witchcraft. One of about fifty thousand things I considered going to grad school for.
