It's Willow and Tara's Wedding Wednesday MKF

Postby WiccansIllusion » Wed Aug 14, 2002 4:15 am

Hi kittens, it's 9 am and I don't see a daily thread. The question for the day as follows:

Since Willow and Tara are so obviously soul mates, and even kittens have written fics involving the two being married, what kind of wedding do you think they'd have?
Jewish, a pagan Handfasting or eloping in Las Vegas?

Personally I can see the girls getting drunk and getting married in one of those Elvis churches, I think Tara's a closet fan.

But seriously, which kind do you think they would want? Maybe a mixture of pagan/jewish? Bringing out both of their beliefs?

i dono. ya know, in Family, i got a very distinctive Calvinist vibe from Tara's family. not anything against calivinists, they just reminded me of Calvin, for some reason. what an obscure thought.... i suppose mebbe it'd be jewish-ish. wil's not all [i:bf509490f9] that[/i:bf509490f9] jewish really. and who knows what tara's deal is, other than the mom-wiccan connection. probly pagean i suppose.( i feel kinda weird, it 1032 and no one's responded to the daily thread and i'm the first and that never happened before....i'm kinda scared.hmm)

yeah, those are my thoughts on that issue.

also, i have happiness of the day! i'm taking off to denver on a whim in one week (decided yesterday) to go visit a girl, whom i havnt seen in person in a year i'd totally be on love with were there not 8 hours of flying between us. yay! for trips on a whim!
peace.

I have no idea why, but I think whatever else it is (religion-wise) it would be outside. Tara strikes me as a kind of nature girl. And it would be in Ireland! Okay, maybe not! [img:07df3429ae]http://homepage.eircom.net/~mollyig/winkgreen.gif[/img:07df3429ae]

I don't think Willow is of the Jewish faith as such, even though her family is. Both she and Tara seem to be card carrying Wiccans. :) But I have no idea what a Wiccan wedding would look like - perhaps something atmospheric and moody, with candles and chanting, or something cool.

First, Evercat -- your avatar is SO cool!

Now onto the questions ... I think they'd do something TOTALLY different. Like, not religious at all, but a celebration of love. :party

Picture this: A bonfire at a beach (they are in CA, after all). Everyone shows up in thin material, light colors ... and everyone has to bring a quote or song .. or something .. that, to them, defines love. It's about sharing their love ... and in turn, having others share love with them.

Make sense?

Oh, and lots of flowers - maybe leis or something.

Yeah. Okay, that's my idea.

Basiclly a wiccan wedding is called a handfasting, and is symbolized with tying knots around each others hands, and whatever else the couple throws in according to each of their own traditions. There is also a tradition intwined in which the couple 'jumps over a broom' the broom signifying cleanliness of spirit and such.

Ah, one of my favorite fantasies!

I imagine a joint ceremony, with elements of wicca (jumping over a broom) and Hebrew rituals (like the canopy and Willow getting to break the wine glass). Outdoors, naturally. Giles gives the bride away, while Xander is best man. I *do* believe Willow will wear a tux. And she won't make her bridesmaids humiliate themselves by dressing up like extras from "The Wizard of Oz." Tara's Dad unbends enough to send her mother's wedding dress, which is simple but beautiful.

Sheila manages to spend the entire time explaining the significance of different aspects of the ceremony to anyone who'll listen.

Lorne acts as DJ. Everybody gives Wesley weird looks when he brings Lilah. Connor gets talked into asking Dawn for a dance, but there's nearly a nasty scuffle when that Demon Kid from Anya's old friends wants to dance, too. For this, and many other reasons, Buffy gets drunk, but a happy drunk and dances with Clem. Anya spends a chunk of the reception keeping Halley from getting wishes out of people. D'Hoffryn offers Willow a job as a "Justice Demon" again but she turns him down...again. He asks Sheila to dance.

Among the gifts is a surprisingly nice antique birdcage (the card simply says its from "D") . Fred and Gunn get so wrapped up in events he asks her to marry him. She accepts.

There is a monster who tries to interfere, of course, but he never gets close 'cause Faith (out on parole) guts him before he gets within a mile. This causes her to be a little late to the reception, by which time Buffy is drunk enough to dance with her too.

And then afterwards, our favorite witches have uninterrupted sex for 48 hours.

See, over here "living over the brush" is living in sin. Odd, that. That's the image I get when you talk about jumping over the broom. Well, that and really strange little fascinating images of Willow and Tara...

Nah. I'm stopping now.

Awww, Ruth, why stop now?

One of the things that I love about this board is I'm always learning new things w/o even trying. When I woke up this morning I had no idea what "living over the brush" meant nor did I know that Wiccans jump over the broom -- I thought jumping over a broom was a uniquely american tradition. Go figure. :)

I think I am agreeance with most people. I think that the wedding would be heavily Wiccan based with maybe some small Jewish parts, since Willow recently refurred to herself as a Jewish Santa.

I think that instead of wearing wedding dresses, the girls would opt for some very pretty sheer spring dresses. The ceremony would be held outside in a beautiful park, surrounded by flowers.

The girls would write their own vows about how in love they are, and how they will spend the rest of eternity together.

i think that the girls would most certainly go for something outdoorsy, you know to make it chocoblock with nature and all. I like that idea about them having it on the beach with the nice flowing dresses and candles.lt is really fantastic idea in all its fantasticness. infact, i'd like my 'wedding' sorta thing to be just like that. *goes all dreamy eyed*

awww...weddings. dont they make you just wanna cry?? *starts bawling her eyes out*

Waking up often makes me want to cry. ;)

And if it's learning new things you're after, Enid, then please, ask away. I have a thousand thousand really nonsensical sayings just waitin' to be shared. Heh. God I love the north. Our sayings are not only useful; they're also fun. I mean, where else can you get that kind of crap? ;)

Oh Ruth, if you're offering to be my tutor, believe me there are many many more interesting things you could be teaching me than charming colloquial phrases. ;)

Not that I am in any way denigrating your local patois, it's just . . . first things first you know? [img:dfa2ace02c]http://216.40.249.192/mysmilies/ups/layla_phoenix/boobies.gif[/img:dfa2ace02c]

Looks like you're doing a fine job of jigglin' your tits there, missy. There's not much more I can do for you. ;) After all, I'm just a tit-jigglin-northern-lass-of-a-girl...

Awww, I would love to see Willow and Tara get married. I'm not sure as to what kind of wedding they would have. Whatever they decided, I know it would be beautiful. I don't think it would be a huge wedding. Just the gang would be there. Maybe Willow's mom?? Where the hell has she been anyway?? *LOL*
