Thanks shazza
How do I think of this stuff? It ain't easy. But I think it helps if you're one of those people who regularly escapes into a large internal imaginary world. Not good for real life, but.. um.. good for fic
Actually had a lot of trouble trying to work out what I was going to do with this episode. For anyone interested, I'll tell you what I intially had in mind before deciding on the current Episode 8.[Begin self-indulgent ramble: - alternate Episode 8 plot synopsis]
Always had this one planned as an Anya dealing with her humanity episode. Initially, DeHoffryn was going to pay a visit, wanting her back as a vengeance demon and Anya had to prove her humanity to him in order to stay human. There was then going to be this other sub-plot about a group of demons trying to end the world.. blah, blah. To make the test harder, DeHoffryn swaps Anya's body with that of one of the demons. Anya, in demon guise, would then have to convince the gang that she was indeed Anya and that the demon in Anya's body was not. Meanwhile the demon, in Anya form, would slyly be continuing her quest to end the world, blah.. blah. Guess I was kinda going for a reversal of what Anya initially saw herself when she first lost her powers (a demon trapped in human form). Without a human face, she would have to rely on what she was underneath to convince the gang and save the world, blah..blah.
Scrapped the idea in the end because the plot sounded vaguely similar to the one in 'A New Man' where Giles was turned into a demon and Buffy had to work it out. Plus, Anya in demon form and speaking guttural demonese (though I was going to let her communicate through Willow's laptop) is just not anywhere as funny as the Anya we know and love
Boy, that was long and self-indulgent. Sorry.
