Where is Sunnydale?

Yes, as I said in my earlier post about LA city vs. LA county, even without counting adjoining counties, ventura, orange etc. LA county has about 10 million people.

I have decided that for myself I will consider Santa Barbera to be Sunnydale in the Buffyverse.

Of course, since we are talking about the *Buffyverse* LA might exist but S Barbera does'nt.

I missed the map of Santa Barbara County in the Mayor's office. I'll have to go back and look again. Nice job of spotting it, fell!

Someone should also check their tapes of "Amends" and "Hush" and any other episode where Sunnydale makes the TV news, because I have a vague memory of a map being shown on the TV screen pointing out where Sunnydale is.

From what I understand, Hollywood isn't a city; just a glorified neighborhood of LA.

I've been in Goleta/Santa Barbara visiting an old girl-friend just once (my only time in California, too). I hope he's not speaking of Goleta; and it's surely not Montecito. But isn't there a small town east of Santa Barbara called Summerland? Would make some sort of cosmic sense!

I'm sure I'm the only one from Belgium here.
In our country, Buffy isn't that popular.
I watch it on 'Kanaal 2'.
(At the moment, they are repeating all the episodes, we're at season two again)
Last year they aired the season 4 episodes,
but I've never really seen season 5.

I did download a few episodes though, and
ofcourse I've downloaded The Kiss!
And I read all the scripts,
so I'm pretty spoiled.
I guess we'll see season 5 in october.
At least, that's what I hope!

i don't think it's been mentioned yet in this thread, so i'd like to point out that there *is* a town in silicon valley (roughly near san jose and san francisco) called sunnyVALE, which might be where some of the confusion lies. however, sunnyVale looks nothing like sunnydale. last time i was there (which was a while ago), it had the sort of part-suburban, part office building look that most of the little towns around san jose are sporting these days. nothing exciting there.

but just thought i'd mention that...

In Passion when Jenny goes to buy the orb she goes into a store below street level. Not many stores on the Left Coast are below street level.

I like the word "dale" in place names. Very storybook-sounding. There's a town in upstate New York, near Lake Chatauqua, called Lilydale. Isn't that just the loveliest name you've ever heard?

Now, I tried to find the old topic of the same, well, topic, but it's been so long, it's not around anymore (big suprise).

I was watching an episode of Angel tonight (the one where Faith turns herself in, which personally, I had never seen) and, I quote:

[some random cop guy] "...from a town NORTH of here..." talking about the warrent for Faith's arrest.

NOW. *big discussion point* What was the final verdict? I was hearing a pretty good concensus on Santa Barbara for a around-about location for Sunnydale, but isn't that SOUTH of LA????

This guy said it was NORTH.

Yeah, Santa Barbara is definitely north of Los Angeles (see page 1 of this thread). It's San Diego that's to the south.

Wow, look at that, I actually have a vague idea of basic geography in the general area of Los Angeles! This is good, considering I was sixteen before I finally figured out what the major cross streets were near my house . . . I feel so accomplished now . . .
