It's Happy Ending Friday, Miss Kitty Fantastico!

Postby BBOvenGuy » Thu Mar 07, 2002 11:52 pm

Good morning, afternoon, evening, or whatever time it is where you are.

Today (well, tomorrow for me at this point) is "Happy Ending Friday" because:

I just finished the first draft of my second novel!!!

This one's called Hoosier Girl and it's a historical novel about an 11-year-old girl whose family moves from Indianapolis to Baltimore during World War I. It was inspired by my grandmother's recollections - her family did just that in 1918. The story is entirely made up, though. My grandmother's life wasn't interesting enough.

Oh, and one more thing - as with my first book, I'm looking for some test readers to try out the third draft, once I get there. That should be around March 25 if I keep to the schedule I want. I've already contacted the folks who read for me before. If you're interested in joining the fun, email me at:

bbovenguy@yahoo.com

I also have a doctor's appointment Friday morning, so I'm currently not eating or drinking anything until that's over with. Yikes. I hope I don't pass out...

Here's a W/T question for you: When Buffy comes to an end, as all TV shows do, where would you like to see our girls heading when they ride off into the sunset? Would they be settling in Sunnydale? Jetting off to see Giles in England? Moving to LA so they can pop up on Angel every now and then? What do you think?

Have a great day, everybody!

Remember the Kitten Board Mantra: "Joss is nuts about Tara, Willow/Tara and Amber!"
(...and Marti's rather fond of them, too...)
I just finished the first draft of my second novel!!!

Well, first off, congrats, Bob. That's really great news.

As for the W/T question, I think they'd probably settle in Sunnydale, but I can also see them doing some travelling, and definitely going to England for a bit to visit Giles.

That's awesome Bob. About the book. Not the not eating or drinking.

I just hope they're all still alive. And not crazy or anything like that. I'm still smarting from the wedding that did not happen.

I am not working. For the first time in over a year, in fact, almost eighteen months. No shows for me. It's good though because I'll get to babysit Connor, my stage manager's kid, with my gf. Wee, two year old shenaningans.

Congrats Bob! Your consistent flurry of activity puts mine to shame!

As for our girls, well, they would put on World War 2 flying helmets, climb onto enormous Harley's, put on the Easy Rider soundtrack, particularly The Holy Modal Rounders' "If You Want To Be A Bird" and Roger McGuinn's "Ballad of Easy Rider", and set off for New Orleans, where they open a jazz club (always with the jazz clubs, I know), where Willow glides about the venue in low-cut silk dresses, affecting a cute Southern drawl, while Tara (also in low-cut silk), blows out some crazy bebop on a tenor sax, invoking the ghost of John Coltrane. She's so good, actually, that the ghost of Dean Moriarty is also seen, gyrating in the packed audience on good nights, whooping and shouting with glee.

Well, time to get cracking, I suppose. Have a good one, dear ones!

Congratulations, Bob!

I think Tara and Willow would go on an around-the-world backpacking trip for a year, and then head back to California to settle down in a nice little house for just the two of them. With plenty of room for Miss Kitty and all of her friends to run around and play.

Congrats,Bob! The book sounds great!
As for W/T,as long as the Scoobies were all still in Sunnydale at the series' end,I think they'd settle there, but I do agree that they'd go spend some time w/Giles.
Happy Friday everyone!!

Good job Bob!

As for Willow and Tara's future. Well it won't be dull that's for sure!

England is my guess. Actually I liked the whole idea of them moving to England and getting involved in all the spookyness there, ala "Coming Up Roses". No mundane life for our girls.

Postby stacey_bourgeois » Fri Mar 08, 2002 8:36 am

Good morning, kittens! It's my 25th birthday today so I'm in a super good mood. I'm anxiously waiting for a phone call that is supposed to take place today or tomorrow. I don't know who's calling me but it should be good. If it happens.

I'm also anxiously waiting to see if Amber is gonna come to Toronto for the Toronto Trek. My gf talked to Amber or someone close to her (she won't tell me) and Amber's not confirmed yet. *sigh* But she will be in Toronto in the summer so perhaps we will still sneak a peek at her.

My gf is all wedding crazy now. She's planning everything like mad. She wants to get Jann Arden to perform at our wedding. She's crazy like that. I just go along with everything.

As for where W/T would settle down, I would think they may stay in Sunnydale since they seem to like it there, hell mouth and all.

Okay, back to work. Take care everybody and have a great weekend!

Bob - Congrats on finishing the second draft! Woohoo for you!

stacey - Happy Birthday! The big quarter of a century mark....

Grid_Monkey - Ah, no shows. Isn't that a nice feeling. I love theatre, but you can get so burned out. *laugh*

Well, it is snowing up here in Oregon and I got up and made my way to work.... why can offices give snow days? *sigh* I hope that everyone has a great weekend!

As for the W/T question, I am torn. I think it would be neat to have them pop up on Angel once in a while, but I can also see them going to Giles in London. I think the two together would make an awesome Watcher team.

Take care!

Good for you, Bob! You're my hero...

As for the question, I like to imagine the last episode of Buffy set in the future, with Buffy the oldest surviving Slayer in history getting a visit from her pals Willow (a college professor) and Tara (a political activist), now celebrating their 25th Anniversary, maybe getting ready for their son to marry Xander and Anya's daughter. Buffy, it turns out, is ill. She has little time to live, and is happy to have her friends around her. Mostly, though, she envies thelove that Willow and Tara share.

It is Buffy's birthday. Tara creates a spell as a present that binds her essence to that of her True Love. They *will* be together, in the afterlife or in their next lives.

Angel shows up soon after. He has become human, and is aging rapidly. Already he looks a little older than Buffy herself. Willow and Anya decide to renew their vows as Buffy and Angel wed to spend the little time they have together. Days after the ceremony, Buffy and Angel die in each others' arms.

The house is left to Willow and Tara in Buffy's will. And they realize early on--as they tell Dawn--the house is haunted by two loving spirits. Angel and Buffy. Willow and Tara make them welcome.

Anyway, thats how I imagine it...

Zahir, you beat me to it. I don't think I can improve upon your scenario, so I won't try. Except...

  1. Spike becomes an advocate of Demon's Rights, sometime after the existence of vampires and other nonhumans becomes common knowledge. His addresses to joint sessions of Congress (wearing glasses, no less) lead to a series of legislations and court decisions leading to the ethical treatment of non-lethal demons;
  2. Winifred Gunn, with the help of Rupert Giles and the moral support of her husband Charles, develops the FTL drive, making the exploration of deep space a possibility in our lifetimes;
  3. Cordelia Chase, along with her partner Krevlornswath of the Deathwa Clan (AKA Lorne) hosts a comedy-variety show, winning several Emmys -- in between bouts of fighting the occasional Big Bad.

BBOvenGuy: Your book sounds really cool. I am an English major and a Hoosier so I'd love to take a look at your draft. I'll send you and e-mail!
Hmmm... I think Willow and Tara will probably stay in Sunnydale. Maybe Tara would take over the magic shop or something and Willow could be a librarian or a professor and UC Sunnydale.
Can I just add a double "yay!" for Friday? This is my Spring break! Not doing anything to exciting. To my parents house for awhile and then to a GLBT leadership conference in Michigan. Should be fun though.
Hope everyone else is having a good Friday!

Postby revision_Johanna » Fri Mar 08, 2002 10:55 am

No, I think that W/T move to the Middle East. Here is the scenario:

*
*
Willow and Tara are walking down a dusty street. Behind them, the dome of the Haigha Sophia clashes terribly with their authentic-handmade in taiwan-polyester islamic garb they wear to "blend in".
Willow: Istanbul is nice.
Tara: Yes, but shouldn't we be fighting evil? Not to unnecessarily recap or anything, but after the climactic battle last year, in which nearly everyone in sunnydale gathered to fight the Ultimate evil which arose from the Hellmouth, and incidentally we are the sole survivors of-
Willow interrupts: I am so sad that Buffy, Giles, Xander, Anya, Dawn, Angel, Spike, Faith, Wesley, the ghost of Jenny, Marcie the invisible girl, Ethan Rayne, Reformed and super-cool Jonathan, Riley and his wife, and even the spirit of the first slayer were killed or destroyed. Clem too.
Tara continues: -and therefore the Hellmouth is closed, and in the process TPTB gave Spike a soul, redeemed Angel, united Anya and Xander in blissful death, sent Buffy back to heaven and so on, including the help you needed to kick that nasty magic addiction-
Willow smiles, and makes sparkly lights with her fingers.
Tara continues: -but even so, I am left with the lingering feeling of some loose thread left untied, as if a major element had not been completely resolved-
They turn a corner. Willow bumps into Oz.
Oz: Hey.
Willow (unsurprised): Oh, hey.
They nod, and continue on.
Tara continues: -and I believe that even though TPTB have granted us a blissful life in perpetuity, I still must believe that a moral life must include the constant struggle against evil...

Fade out.

Yup, its all there in the canon. Restless actually predicts this very sequence, I believe....

I like revision_Johanna's version of the ending. My version, considering my mood today, would be much too dark.

When the show ends i too would likea Babylon 5 style look into the future. But i do see them moving to England and maybe joining the Watches Council and shaking it up so they become a much nicer bunch! I reckon then that very year or so they should a special TV Movie so we see what they up too. :-D

Where ever they go, where ever they end up.. all our hearts will be with them. The Kitties, like W&T, are forever.

First congrats to Bob on finishing your novel, it's great when someone follows their dream. As for W&T I see them visting Giles in England for awhile, and then maybe settling down somewhere in the country-side. After all the hell-mouth going on's in their youth, and if Willow stops using magic, maybe they would want to go somewhere away from the demons and monsters (a quieter life). However, with their luck the demons and monsters would probably follow them where they are, but if they are together that's all that matters.

I have a question and I thought this would be a good place to post it. I have read the Faq about how to quote from someone ele's post, and I understand that part. But what I can't understand is how you stop my post being highlighted with the other posters quote. I know I must be dense, but I don't know what I am doing wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!
