How did you find Willow and Tara?

i sort of found willow and tara by accident....i just started watching the show during the finale of season five, and i was like, oh great-just when i decide to watch, they kill buffy. good timing....buffy's swan dive wasn't the highligh tof the episode for me however--it was the care and closeness between willow and tara. and that did it. i've watched ever since....i tried not to watch actually, but they're just so damn cute! i'm doing my best to find some season five eps that i've heard good things about to catch up....no luck so far, but try try again....

I've haven't owned a TV for about ten years, so although I'd heard good things about Buffy from many of my friends, I hadn't seen anything from the first five seasons. Then, late summer of last year, I started dating an incredible girl who happened to own a television set. One day she mentioned to me that she and some friends were going to watch the season premiere of Buffy, and would I like to join? Sure, I said. (What could possibly go wrong? I thought. It's not like I'm going to become addicted to a television show or anything.)

Early on in that episode, I saw something that floored me. A lesbian couple exchanging a casual kiss as they went about their day. No "big build up and at the very end of the show we're going to show you two girls kissing aren't we daring." No sirens blaring and bells and whistles for ratings. No "well we'll let two girls kiss but of course it'll be a one episode thing and never develop into any kind of relationship." Just two people, going about their day, kissing as any couple would.

Normal.

I realize that some people have complained that there haven't been enough steamy, hot kisses between the two (and of course, a whole bunch of those sometime would be nice ), but for me, the fact that the kiss *wasn't* steamy, or hot, or anything but part of the day made me so happy.

Since then, of course, I've become a total addict, have managed to see every episode ever aired, and have fallen in love with the characters as well.

Oh, and I'm moving in with the incredible girl with the TV set on Monday.

I agree with you Kyraroc. Although I have been an obsessed Buffy fan since the first ep I agree with you about the cute normal kiss. That's one thing that makes me love Willow and Tara so much. The way that they're treated and portrayed. They aren't all hyped up for ratings and their kisses aren't advertised weeks ahead. Their first on screen kiss was a total shocker to everyone! And it was so cute because it was a comforting kiss that any couple would do. And I loved that first kiss in the beginning of Bargaining that you're talking about because that too just seemed so normal and natural. They are treated like any other normal couple would be on any other television show. Having cute cuddly moments and kisses, and having arguments and fights. Can you tell that I'm obsessed?

i was talking (hinting) with my friend about gay storylines on tv while we were walking on campus... she didn't get the massage i was sending that "hello, i'm gay!?!" but she did tell me something about willow and tara slow-dancing on buffy the vampire slayer. that's how i found them... now i'm glued.

I came across Willow and Tara when I was channel surfing one night, I clicked on over to the WB because I usually would watch Dawson's Creek on Wednsdays and thought they may have something cool on, Then I saw W/T Kiss. I was like. "Did I just see what I thought I saw on a T.V show? Two Gorgious women kissing one another, HOLY COW." From That moment on I was hooked and I called every one of my friends and asked if they watched the show, And finally my friend Jen said Yeah, And gave me ALL the past episodes. I am now addicted and completly in love with the show and the Willow and Tara realationship. YAY

You guys got amazing stories!

W/T is actually what brought me back to Btvs. I'd been a faithful viewer until the beginning of season 4. Then I just... lost interest. With the Riley/Army Guys Taking Over and Buffy losing all that strong female identity that hooked me to my TV every tuesday... I had a physical reaction of repulsion seeing Buffy hiding behind her big bad bold barbarian of a boyfriend.

Then I was enlightened by boredom! I tuned in one night and there was Hush! I didn't find Willow and Tara, I just opened the set and there were Willow and Tara sparks flying through the screen....
