Title: Crime Scene Investigation: Sunnydale
Author: Zodiax aka Cat
Rating: PG – NC17 for Lotsa Blood, Language and some sex.
Spoilers: None
Pairings: Willow/Tara
Disclaimer: I don’t own the name CSI or any of the characters listed.
Setting: Sunnydale. Without all the hellmouthy chaos. Just a normal city with human related crimes and normal human villains.
Summary: Follow CSI Agents Willow and Tara’s forensic adventures around Sunnydale, bringing closure to massively morbid murder crimes and bringing justice to society.
Note: I took a break from writing and I know that there's uncompleted fics out there which I'll have to complete :X But this one was too fun not to write. Anyway it's very different from my usually canon stories so i hope you'll like it (: There will be Willow/Tara goodness all over the story and smut in later chapters.

Chapter One: Scene

“ Ugh. Someone’s definitely dead here.”

CSI Agent Willow Rosenberg stated as she opened the door to the cramped apartment, catching a whiff of the prominent scent of rotting flesh that hung in the room. Doubling back, CSI Agent Tara Maclay nodded and followed Willow into the room, scrunching up her face in displeasure at the stench

“ G... Go…Goddess. That’s putrid. After six months on this job, I still haven’t gotten used to that smell yet.”

Tara handed Willow a pair of gloves and put a pair on herself, then snooped around carefully for the body, keeping a keen eye for clues. The apartment was dark, damp and desolate. Whoever did this didn’t want anyone to find out about it. She thought to herself silently.

“ Well someone hates Beethoven .” Willow said, motioning Tara to come to her. On the floor of the small bedroom Willow was in, lay a smashed upright piano. Black and white keys, string and pieces of mahogany coloured wood littered the bedroom floor. Tara took out the camera and took pictures of the bedroom floor, leaving Willow to explore further into the room. The stench grew stronger as Willow ventured further into the room and was overwhelming as the redhead approached the remaining ruins of the piano.

“ I think I’ve found the body. Tara can you come and help me lift the cover?”

Tara quickly took a picture of the partially standing, key less structure of the piano then went over to help Willow. The two investigators lifted the cover with difficulty but succeeded, exposing the body. The blonde took a closer look and shook her head in disdain.

“ Oh goddess. Look at what it’s been um, hanging in.” Tara said, cringing as she turning her head away. Willow peered into the hollow piano and sighed at the morbidity of the crime.

“ Jesus Christ. This person must’ve had a lot of determination and very strong fingers.” She concluded.

The victim’s body hung in between two tight piano strings by the neck, the rusty strings digging painfully deep into the victim’s flesh. Identifying the victim as a teenage female, pictures were taken. Three quarters of the body was covered in dried blood, a neat line separating the clean neck from the torso.

“ I’d go either suffocation or perhaps bleeding to death. But we won’t know until we get the body outta those strings. But there’s this film of dried blood covering the whole body from the neck downwards. It’s like she’s been dipped in it or something.” Willow said, shaking her head and sighing.

“ Hold on. Could you hold the camera for me? And could you pass me the luminal spray?”

Willow took hold of Tara’s camera and handed her the bottle of blood-detecting liquid and the UV light. The blonde quickly sprayed the liquid onto the insides of the piano and shone the light over it.

“ The whole piano’s covered in blood. I don’t think she was dipped in it, she might have been, as strange as this might sound, bathing in her own blood.”

The redhead photographed the evidence and walked behind the piano, discovering bloody footprints leading towards the bathroom. Taking more photos, she made her way carefully, following the fading footprints that lead into the empty bathroom.

“ Hey Tara. Bring the tape. I see fingerprints.” She said as she examined the gold doorknob. The blonde made her way towards Willow, but stopped as she noticed a strip of cloth peeking out from under the made bed.

“ Hold on. I found something.” She called out to Willow as she crouched down and pulled the cloth out from under the bed. A robe? What’s this doing here. Standing up, she attempted to straighten the robe, finding it excessively bloody. The blood’s too dried up for me to straighten it up properly, I’ll keep this for evidence. Placing it into a large air-tight bag, she walked over to Willow who had already dusted the fingerprints.

She watched closely as the redhead carefully took fingerprint samples from the door knob. Opening the door, the investigators found more dried blood and footprints on the bathroom tiles. With Willow taking the pictures, Tara took the opportunity to check for further clues. Hmm. Toilet seat. Seems rather suspicious. Lifting up the toilet cover, she peered into the toilet bowl and discovered a rolled up, very bloody towel that the culprit sure must’ve tried to hide. Bagging the wet item, she walked over to Willow who had gone out of the bathroom and had snooped around the bed.

“ Glass. Broken wine glass shards. There’s a wine tray on the table. This large one is particularly sharp and bloody. Ooh. I see hairs.” Willow handed the camera over to Tara as she bagged the glass shard and picked up the strands of hair, placing them into the test tube.

“ I reckon we’re done. We’ll have to call for support to get the body out.” Willow said to Tara, picking up her walkie talkie to call for help.

“ This is an interesting case. Rather morbid and disturbing, but interesting. I love a good challenge” The redhead concluded, flashing a satisfied smile at her lover and walking out the door.

haha i love csi. well not so much csi:ny...i don't like the characters in that one. but i like CSI and CSI: Miami. You have to have willow quote Sherlock Holmes.."Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth." I can totally see Willow being like i think it's Grissom, from CSI. and If you add any other BTVS characters, Xander being one of the lab techs who has really random and obscure knowledge that when he says stuff, though helpful, makes everyone stare at him. And Anya could totally be one of the coroners who do autopsys or however they're spelled. I mean in BTVS She's always talking about blood and guts and things...that would so fit with a person whose profession involves cutting open and digging around human bodies all day. I'm looking forward to more of this

I'm excited about this one. I adore CSI and Buffy so combining the two is always welcome. I curious to see you might cover some of the back story of how the girls came together...

Woot.

Chapter Two: Autopsy

Donned in clean, fresh smelling clothes and her hair tied into a neat ponytail, Tara strode quietly into the autopsy room, joining her girlfriend who stared intently at the body, nodding her head as coroner Dr. Anya Jenkins explained the gruesome details of the murder.

“ Well, fine fine specimen we have here of a teenage young lady who is I say about, sixteen to seventeen years of age based on the teeth. Extremely extremely deep cuts to the neck by the strings and the cuts are dirty and infected which means that the body’s been in there for a while. You can tell that someone deliberately missed the jugular vein as well. Not a very pretty death. Not pretty at all.” Dr. Jenkins said to Willow, who was furiously taking down notes and changing her pen colours at breakneck speed.

“ I wonder how the body had gotten there though. I had a piano at home and I dropped a fifty dollar note into it. Took me ages to get the stupid strings apart. Had to call in professional help too and I had to use the fifty to pay for the help.” said the curly-haired blonde, rolling her eyes. The two investigators smiled and shook their heads in amusement.

“ Anyway, the body’s rigid and cold. The skin has a slight green tinge to it, which means it’s decomposing. No pooling of blood under the skin, which is strange and unusual for hanging victims. Actually, there’s about 40 milli-litres of blood left in the body which probably means that the body’s been drained for some reason. I can’t explain the bloodstains from the neck to the feet though.”

Tara stroked her chin. “ We found blood, all around the inside of the piano. The whole inside was bloody and looked very unusual. We think that it might have been bleeding into the piano and it pooled, covering the body but I don’t think humans have that much blood in them.”

Nodding her head in understanding, Dr Jenkins filed a report and handed it to the two investigators then set off to preserve the victim’s lifeless body. Willow and Tara washed themselves of the smell and set off to find DNA expert Buffy Summers in the science labs.

“ Hey Will, Hey Tara. So what do we have today?” The chirpy blond asked.

“ We have a strange murder case. We found a female teen’s body in between two piano strings. You know those incredibly tight ones that vibrate when you play the piano? Yeah those. It was horrible. The whole piano was covered in blood three quarters down. Anyway, we’ve got hairs.” Willow filled her in, handing her the hair samples taken from the bed sheets.

“ Alright. I’ll get these back to you asap.”

After thanking her, they met with blood pattern analyst Alexander Harris. Filling him in, they handed him the bloody towel, robe and the pictures of the scene.

“ Woah. Hardcore crime there Will. Check out those cuts.” he said, feeling his own neck and shuddering slightly.”

“ Yeah it is. Can you run tests on these? We’ll be back, we’ve spent too much time wondering around. We’ll need it asap.” Xander nodded and flashed them a reassuring smile.

They then headed towards footprint and fingerprint analyst Daniel Osbourne’s office. Willow stayed outside his office while Tara went in and gave him the pictures as well as the fingerprint copies. Quickly getting the job done without any awkwardness, they made their way to British glass and material researcher Rupert Giles.

“ Oh. Hello. How might I help you today ladies?” He politely addressed the girls as he cleaned his glasses simultaneously.

“ Bad murder case. Found these on the floor. It’s probably champagne glass but we don’t know where this huge piece of thick glass came from.” The redhead explained, handing the pictures as well as the zip lock containing the glass shards.

“ Can you find out what they are? We need them asap.” Tara asked, getting a nod and an “alright” from Giles.

After handing everything to the scientists and specialists, they retreated back to the lounge room where their mochas were waiting for them. Sitting down beside one another and sipping their coffees, Willow’s hand snaked around Tara’s waist, pulling the blonde closer to her. “ You know how much I’ve missed holding you? Stupid night calls, depriving me of my Tara snuggles.” Tara snuggled closer to the redhead, smiling and kissing her lover’s cheek. They laid there together, talking and drinking until their beepers beeped them out of their bubble of love.

Nice chapter and Interesting positions for the characters. I wonder who's going to be ballistics and if you'll have an cyber analyst person for tech things...seems like a willow job, but she's like lead person. Can't wait for more!

Excellent update-y goodness... Could it be possible that the murderer is called William the Bloody? It would be interesting to see how Willow & Tara merge their work & private lives...
