Chapter Nine - Sisters Making AmendsThe small living room was lit up by a faint glow of a dozen candles. Tara sat in her favourite chair, staring outside at the nightlife thinking about how her and Willow’s day went. She smiled to herself, picturing the redhead’s cute grin and sexy looks while they spent the day at the mall. It had been a wonderful time, being able to hold Willow’s hand in her own free will, but most of all it was holding her hand as a couple. Something she’d always dreamed of.
But at a time, for a second, it all came crashing down and reality sunk in. Ocean was her best friend, her roommate, someone who had always been there for her when she needed her the most. And that was no longer there when it came to Willow. Ocean made a decision to separate herself until she would feel more comfortable with the idea of her best friend and sister dating.
Sighing, the blonde stood up and was about to blow out her only light before she heard the key in the door. “Hey,” she greeted the brunette.
“Hey,” Ocean smiled and threw her keys on the side table. “I thought you’d still be out.”
“No, Willow has to be up early for her first day at work,” Tara played with the bottom of her shirt nervously.
Ocean knew that nervous gesture and sighed, “I’m not going to bite your head off Tare, you don’t have to act all nervous around me like that...you never have so why start now?”
“This isn’t easy Ocean,” Tara frowned. “You’ve been avoiding Willow and I, you never have before so why start now?”
“I didn’t come home to argue,” Ocean sighed and sank into the couch, moaning as her muscles relaxed. She took a moment of silence, gathering her thoughts up together. “Tara? You know that I don’t hate you right? Or that I don’t hate Willow?”
“But you don’t approve,” Tara frowned.
“I’m just...getting used to it,” the brunette sat up and slightly cracked her back. “Work was a bitch,” she muttered, cracking a smile.
“I’m guessing you needed another hand at the restaurant?” Tara sat down beside her best friend.
“Could’ve, but I wasn’t about to ask you to come in for an extra shift,” she looked up into the blonde’s eyes, “I’m not heartless you know, I do see how happy you are and I’m not going to ruin that, just...let me get used to it, okay?”
Tara nodded silently and was embraced in a hug by her best friend. “So no late night snuggles with your sister on this couch anytime soon?”
“TARA!” Ocean laughed. “As long as I’m not around!”
“Okay, so we’ll wait until you’re in your room before-”
Ocean clamped her hand over Tara’s mouth. “You dare say another word in that sentence, I may have to hurt you...” a grin curled upon her mouth.
“You know what? You and Willow were blessed with the cutest Rosenberg grins,” Tara giggled.
“Are you going to fall for me too?” Ocean raised an eyebrow.
“Nope, I don’t fall for my sister...” Tara smirked.
The two best friends spent the better half of the night watching tv, before Tara decided to go to bed, so she could surprise her girlfriend at the library with a homemade lunch. “Did you want to come with me to bring Willow lunch?” she asked, turning around to face her best friend who was still on the couch.
Ocean thought about it for a moment. “I’ll let you know in the morning.”
Tara smiled and said her goodnights to the brunette, knowing that it was only a matter of time before Ocean caved and started to hang out like the three of them used to do.

Willow’s first week at the library was a success. She got through everything fine and was able to start doing paper work finally, after the many hours of tours and training. Her daily surprises by her girlfriend made her long days go by faster.
Tara had mentioned to her that she invited Ocean many times to join them, but thought the brunette was too busy at work to even take a short break. Willow sighed, it was hard not being able to share the things that she felt inside to her sister. Ocean was always one person she could go to when the biggest things were on her mind.
“Lost in thought?” Tara smiled, walking up to the desk where her girlfriend was sitting.
Looking up, Willow saw the blonde’s hair swept back in a neat ponytail, her neck bearing all. “Uh...what?” she blushed.
Tara blushed as well and leaned over the counter, stealing a much needed kiss from her redhead. “Are you almost finished?”
Willow nodded and stood up, cupping Tara’s face and giving her a real deep kiss.
“I love it when you kiss me like that,” Tara sighed, smiling blissfully.
Smiling in triumph, the redhead turned around and picked up her bag. “Just let me tell Sonya that I’m leaving.”
Tara nodded, still leaning on the counter, her eyes glazed over, still reeling from the kiss. “Hurry back,” she sighed.
“Ah, young love,” a familiar voice sighed behind the blonde.
“Ocean?” Tara turned around quickly and blushed. “What are you doing here?”
“Um, can’t I hang out with my two favourite girls?” Ocean raised an eyebrow.
“Of course,” Tara smiled, “it’s just you said you were busy with the Restaurant...”
“Lindy is covering for me today,” the brunette shrugged. “Plus, I think it’s time we find out how this whole dating my little sister thing is going to work out,” she smiled softly.
“Okay, I’m ready to go and have many smooches with my-” Willow paused and blushed. “Ocean, hey.”
“No smoochies for me thanks,” Ocean smirked. “So where are we going?”
Willow smiled widely and took Tara’s hand as they walked out of the large library. “We can go anywhere...you choose.”
“The Restaurant?” Ocean squeaked. “I’m just a little worried about how Lindy is doing... I won’t work, I just wanna-”
“Spy?” Tara giggled, bumping shoulders with her best friend.
“Well, subtly, but yea,” Ocean laughed. They all walked down into town, mildly chatting about the weather and what they should do over the upcoming long weekend. Reaching the Restaurant, Ocean held open the door for the couple, smiling to herself.
“So, what’s today’s special?” Willow asked, sliding into a booth with Tara right beside her.
“Soup,” Ocean giggled when Willow made a face.
“Okay, so what else is on the special?” Willow pouted.
“It’s three dollar burger day, you get a burger and fries with a salad on the side of your choice,” Tara smiled.
“Ouu, sounds good,” Willow wiggled in her seat, folding the menu right away. “What? I’m not that hard to please,” she frowned when she found her sister raising an eyebrow at her. “Fine, I’ll pretend to look a little longer,” she huffed.
Tara stifled a giggle at her girlfriend’s cuteness and caught the eye of her best friend - who was surprising smiling back. “What are you having?” she asked the brunette.
“Probably the soup special, you?”
“The same,” Tara smiled.
“Oh sure!” Willow drew her lips into a firm line, “make me look like I’m a big unhealthy eater,” she crossed her arms.
“I’ll share your fries with you,” Tara whispered.
“Me too!” Ocean grinned.
“Like old times,” Willow smiled and sighed happily. Maybe things will work out better than she thought.
