Part 10
Okay, this focuses more on B/F than W/T, but I was just got so annoyed that the two of them couldn't work it out, so I helped things move forward for them. Or maybe I complicated things more
RaVeN – No need to be sorry, I think babbling is cute

I’m pleased you like the fic! Thanks for reading!
Stroke of Luck – Yes, Willow is indeed a cutie. As for why Donnie’s such an asshole, I think he was the way that he was because he was following his fathers example, which, as we know, wasn’t of the good
Grimlock72 – Yeah, you pretty much got it. Buffy just saw Faith with Spike, and didn’t really stick around to get the whole facts. Faith has tried to explain herself, but Buffy won’t listen. A part of this is because Willow, Xander etc saying that Faith is no good for her, so Buffy is trying to move on. I know that Tara doesn’t need the deal to help her get Willow, but she thinks she does, because of her low self-esteem. But she’ll get over that
littlecrazy80 – Thanks! Gosh, a lot of people want to hurt Donnie, don’t they? Guess I can’t blame you!
sam darls – Thank you

Tara entered the Bronze to pounding music from the band on stage. It was full of people sitting; standing, dancing, and Tara looked around for any sign of Willow. It was five past eight, so she should already be there. She had told Tara their usual table where they sat near the dance floor, and Tara made her way through the throng of people. To her relief, she saw Xander and Anya sat at the table. She couldn’t see Willow though.
“H-hi,” she said once she got close enough to be heard.
“Hey, Tara!” Xander greeted her cheerfully. He gestured to a stool next to him. “Have a seat.”
“W-w-where’s W-Willow?” Tara asked as she sat down, scanning the area for the redhead.
“Oh, she and the Buffster are out on the dance floor,” Xander said, pointing. Tara looked over and, amongst all the other people, saw Willow and Buffy dancing. Tara smiled at the way Willow danced. It was cute. Dorky, but cute.
“So, how was your first day at good old Sunnydale High?” Xander asked conversationally.
Tara was reluctant to look away from Willow. The redhead looked so happy as she danced, her hair swishing back and forth as she moved, laughing at something Buffy had said.
“Hello? Earth to Tara?” Xander waved a hand in front of the blonde’s face. She tore her gaze away from Willow and looked at the young mans grinning face.
“S-sorry,” she mumbled, feeling the blush on her cheeks. God, what must she look like, staring at Willow like that? Xander didn’t comment on it, although Anya looked as though she wanted to.
“Xander, let’s go dance!” she said suddenly, standing up and looking at her boyfriend expectantly.
“I’ll tell Willow you’re here,” Xander smiled at Tara as he was led away to the dance floor.
They left, and no sooner had they gone, than Faith appeared, dressed, as usual, in leather pants and a black top.
“Hey, Blondie,” she smiled lazily, sitting down in Anya’s vacant seat. “Where’s Red?”
“Uh, out on the d-dance f-f-floor,” Tara told her. “W-what are you d-doing here?”
“Same as you,” Faith shrugged. “I came to dance, to drink, to party. I saw you here, thought I’d come say hi.”
Tara glanced over at Willow, where she and Buffy had been joined by Anya and Xander. She looked back at Faith. “W-well, there’ll be c-coming over here in a m-minute. Willow and B-Buffy.”
“And you don’t think I’d be welcome?” Faith smiled. “It’s okay, Tara. I’ll go; I just wanted to ask if you’d snared Red yet.”
“N-not exactly,” Tara said. “I mean, I d-don’t even know if she’s…”
“If she’s gay?” Faith guessed. “She is.”
Tara blinked. Well, that cleared that up. “Oh…well, even so, she might not like me.”
Faith looked incredulous. “Are you kidding me, Blondie? You’re hot as hell and sweet too. Who wouldn’t like you?”
Tara smiled shyly at the compliment. Suddenly, she felt a little more confident. “Thanks, Faith.”
Faith grinned. “Happy to be of service.” She looked up and her smile faded. Tara followed the brunette’s gaze and saw that Buffy, Willow, Xander and Anya were glaring over at Faith. “I better go,” she muttered. “See ya in school, Tara.”
And with that, Faith disappeared into the crowd. Tara was thankful, in a way, that she hadn’t stuck around and caused another argument. Willow and Buffy hurried over.
“Are you okay?” Willow asked quickly.
Tara frowned. “Of course,” she said.
“What did she want?” Buffy asked.
“We were just t-talking,” Tara told them. To ward off further questions, she turned her full attention to Willow. “Hi.”
Willow’s face relaxed into a beautiful smile. “Hi. I’m glad you could make it.”
Tara was too. Once she had gotten ready, she was just about to leave when Donnie spotted her and demanded to know where she was going. She had told him that she was going out to a club. Donnie had tried to make her stay in, but eventually their mother intervened and Tara was free to leave. Donnie had seemed shocked that Tara had even made any friends, let alone on her first day.
Tara was about to say something, when she noticed someone was missing. She looked around. “Where’s Buffy gone?”
~*~*~
Buffy walked out of the Bronze and into the cold night air. She was glad to be out of the heat of the club, and leant against a wall, thinking. Seeing Faith at the Bronze had once again reminded Buffy that she couldn’t move on when she still had feelings for her. What exactly those feelings were, she couldn't say. She wondered why Faith had been speaking to Tara, and what they had been saying.
“Thinking about me?”
Buffy turned to see Faith, cocky grin in place. How could she look so care-free when Buffy was so troubled?
“As a matter of fact, I was,” Buffy answered, trying to keep the shakiness out of her voice.
“Knew it,” Faith said, almost triumphantly.
“How can you do that?” Buffy asked.
Faith frowned. “Do what?”
“How do you not care?”
Faith looked hurt. “You know I care, B. It’s you who doesn’t seem to want to know.”
“There’s nothing to know!” Buffy yelled, her frustration bubbling over. “You kissed a guy, and you cheated on me. End of story.”
“Look,” Faith said, forcing herself to keep calm. “I was drunk. I didn’t know what I was doing, and he was just there, and I kissed him. That’s all it was, B. I don’t give a shit about him.” Her voice softened as she took a step closer. “You’re the one I care about.”
“What a load of crap,” Buffy mumbled, turning away.
“For God’s sake, Buffy!” Faith shouted angrily, making Buffy stop. Her full name sounded weird coming from Faith. Suddenly Buffy felt cold without her jacket. She’d left it in the Bronze. “You know I care,” Faith continued, her voice quieter. “It was an accident. A mistake.”
Buffy almost laughed, but it came out as more of a sob, and she beat it back. “A mistake? Oh no. Kissing someone is an intention.”
“Not when I had no clue what I was doing,” Faith sighed. “B, I am so sorry for what I’ve done, can’t you see that?" She scowled when she saw Buffy wasn't so sure. "Do you even want to forgive me?”
“What?”
“I think you don’t. You’ve spent so long listening to your friends talking about what a bad person I am, you’ve forgotten to even make up you own decision about what I am. Well, newsflash, B: Willow and Xander don’t run our relationship! We’re in charge of our own lives! You can date whoever the hell you want to date!”
Buffy looked at the ground. She knew that a part of what Faith had said was true, but she didn’t want to admit it. It didn’t matter, anyway. Faith already knew.
“Or are you scared?” Faith continued. “Are scared that if you let me in again, I’ll hurt you again?”
“Well, how can I trust you not to?” Buffy shot back.
“Because I love you, okay?” Suddenly, Faith went pale. Her eyes widened as though she couldn’t believe the words had just spilled from her mouth. Buffy couldn’t believe it either. Sure, Faith said she cared about her, but loved? Those were the last words Buffy had expected Faith to say to anyone, ever. And certainly not to her.
For once in her life, Faith had nothing to say. She stared at Buffy for another moment, and then ran past her. Buffy called out to her, but the brunette ignored her and kept running.
Buffy tilted her head back in exasperation to look at the sky, hoping that maybe the stars would have the answer written somewhere. But then, Buffy realised, she didn't even know the question.
