Tara couldn't help but end up living at Willow's house instead of with Giles. The way this progressed was that upon Willow's return home from the hospital, Tara insisted on taking care of her since her parents were again out of the picture. They might as well not even be alive. Giles figured it was a good idea that Willow not be alone when she was still considerably fragile having just woken from a coma. Since Tara introduced her own resolve face it came to pass that she and Willow became room mates in a large two story house, parent free.
"Giles enrolled you a Sunnydale?" was practically the first question Willow asked.
"No, I haven't been un-enrolled at my old school. Mostly I've just been sneaking into Sunnydale High spending most of my time with Mr. Giles in the library."
"Well that just not…kosher. Can you bring me my laptop?" she pointed across the room.
"Sure" Tara went over to the dresser and grabbed Willow's laptop. Willow had Tara connect the network cord to the wall and she put the other end into the laptop. Within five minutes Tara was enrolled into Sunnydale High and the redhead let Tara choose which classes closely resembled the ones she had in Roseburg.
"If you need help catching up or anything, it'd be no problem. I'm really ahead. Not that I’m bragging or anything cause that’d just be…mean."
"Wow, you’re amazing. C-can you just go in and change stuff like that? Don't they call your kind hackers?" Tara teased.
"Hacker's do what I call child's play."
Willow informed Tara that she was a genius when it came to computers and it would probably be her choice of career later on in life. For right now she was working heavily on her magick and coming into her full power, off course with absolute respect to said magick. Tara mentioned that she knew a little about magick but because her one teacher died she hadn't made it too far.
"Tara, I'm really sorry about your mom. So sorry, I feel like I know how you must have felt."
"You do Willow, you took my pain that night you were kidnapped. I felt you take it." The blonde informed while she looked intently into Willow’s eyes.
"Oh my goodness that's what that sharp pain was, it wasn't the ghost it was your pain. They unleashed my empathic powers and at that moment I must have taken your pain because we are somehow connected. But why would be connected...I’ve never met you...I didn't even know you existed until you came to save me. Sure some souls are just connected but that'd mean we were some kind of soul mates. You’re a girl though, is it possible to be soul mates with a..."
"Willow, breath. We don't have to figure this out now...and...I'm glad we share a connection." Tara stopped Willow before she came to the realization that maybe she and Tara were meant to be. Although she thought the redhead’s babble was unbelievable adorable. Willow thought she must have made Tara feel absolutely awkward with her signature babble.
"I'm sorry Tara, I didn't mean to go off. I just like to understand things. When I don't my tummy gets all acidy. Rumblings in the tummy."
"Aww, I'm sorry," Tara giggled at the cute Willow talk.
The girls continued to bond over the weekend with random visits from Xander, Jesse and Buffy. Tara was really becoming integrated into the group even though Buffy wasn't even that much integrated.
The slayer tended to distance herself for some unknown reason. She got on considerably well with the guys but since Willow was out for so long their friendship had yet to start and with Tara in the picture it is logical that the three became part of a three-way friendship.
"Guys we need to have that meeting." Tara overheard Willow say to the guys over the phone Monday morning. As of late she used her power to talk to the guys telekinetically much less because she didn't want the girls to feel left out. Even though for sometime now that is how they always communicated. She still did on the sly when there weren't any phones around.
"Why Willow, it isn't necessary anymore Giles knows you aren't a threat anymore."
"I'm sure he still has questions and then I can ask him some stuff too. Come on please, I have stiff lower lip over here." Tara giggled as she glanced at Willows pouting lower lip and thought how she’d like to kiss that lip.
"Ok Will, I'll let Xander know and then everyone else that you still want to have the meeting. You don't have to get stiff-lipped on me."
"K...great." Willow hung up and turned to find Tara standing near the stairs behind her.
"Oh hi, how are you this morning?" Willow asked to an embarrassed Tara.
"G-good, you?"
"Excellent, getting back to old Sunnydale High, my place of learning that I've missed so,” Willow swooned over her place of education.
"That much huh?" Tara raised a brow.
The redhead looked at her expectantly, "Yep, I can't wait. Aren't you excited to go and actually have class?"
"I guess so. I'm not as academic as you seem to be."
"Well, I like to learn,” she said displaying her now famous pout.
"So there's a meeting? Sorry, I was eavesdropping." Tara quickly changed the subject before she reached out and kissed the girl.
"Oh yea! Meeting this morning if everything goes as planned and Jesse tells everyone."
"Can't you just tell everyone telepathically?"
"I could...but good old fashioned leg work is just as good. Plus I don't want to invade anyone's mind. But hey since you mentioned that, do you want to open up a channel between us, you know in case you need anything. Not that you would need anything because you take very good care of yourself from what I've heard from the guys, even kicking some butt on patrol..."
"Willow, breathe."
"Oh sorry. You should consider stopping me much sooner than you do."
"I like your babble…and sure we can open the channel, what do we have to do?"
The redhead explained to her blonde roomie that all she had to do was take her hands and she would open the channel. Once the channel was open between them, all Tara had to do was reach out with her mind, call Willow in her thoughts and she'd automatically hear. But only when she directed her thoughts at Willow, privacy was of the utmost importance. Tara simply nodded at this and they made their way to Sunnydale High for Willow's first day back and Tara's first day as a real student. But first there was a meeting to attend to.
"Our dear Willow has again called a meeting and this time she is actually here..."started Jesse.
"Yes, here she is in plain sight...Willow?" Xander turned the floor over to the redheaded Wicca.
"I wanted to have this meeting to set Buffy and Giles's mind at ease. I'm not a threat to either of you or the slayer destiny. I just want this meeting to be a place for us to be open and ask any questions of me or the guys that you want."
Giles nodded as did the rest of the gang. Willow looked around expectantly but no one asked any questions.
"Come on now lets not be shy. Giles, I know you've wanted to ask me some stuff. Let's get hopping, class starts soon."
"Oh right, um alright Willow, it seems the portal that you went through and came back from is still open--growing as we speak. Do you know how to close it?”
“Ut oh, sorry Giles I forgot all about that,” a sheepish Buffy looked away from Giles.
“Its quite alright Buffy, we haven’t found a significant answer to this quite literally growing problem.”
Willow instantaneously starting searching the inner reaches of her mind, for a solution to closing the dimensional portal. She’d read a great deal of supernatural books over the years. Her collection could rival Giles. Even though his was impressive.
An inter-dimensional portal…what kind of sloppy demon ghost leaves behind a whole. Unless it was his intention to destroy the universe. But he could do that after he has my powers.
“Earth to Willow,” Xander waved a hand in front of her face. She looked up at him and scowled.
“I’m thinking Xander.”
“Oh sorry.”
“I’m done I guess. Okay I’ll lay it out. Yes, I’m pretty sure I can close the portal. I could go now but then I’d be late for class and that’s a big no no. After school definitely.”
“I must insist you do whatever you can now. Perhaps explain it to me what you plan on doing as well.” Giles spoke up.
“I plan on using magick, a spell.”
“What spell, if you please.”
“Hmm, I forget the name of it. Ok think…I have it. Lettres de garantie temps.”
“Doesn’t that stop time or something?” asked Tara timidly, having heard of a similar spell from her mother and also knowing a bit of French.
“Reverse time, well the exact translation is letters of guaranteed time. It’s complicated.” Willow stated simply, although she was dually impressed at Tara’s obvious knowledge base.
“You intend on reversing time in the location of the portal so it was never opened in the first place. Wouldn’t that create some sort of temporal fold?”
“Shouldn’t. I can just do the exact dimensions of the portal until it shrinks to a reasonable size where I can force it close and sort of stitch the cut between dimensions. It isn’t as involved as I’m making it sound. Anyway, because I don’t close it all the way until after I was taken and where its easier to handle it’ll be fine. K?
Giles tried to think this over but before he can say much Willow was rising to make it to her first class. She like to be exceptionally early to every class.
“Willow, is there no way you can do this now. Dimensions could bleed into each other, this could occur anytime now.”
Willow thought over what Giles stated and decided he was right, better now than later.
“Ok, I’ll handle it now.” The gang blinked as Xander was offering to go with her but she was already gone. A minute later while everyone was still stunned at the disappearance of Willow, she came back in the exact same location.
“It’s done. Class now,” the redheaded witch walked out of the library with everyone’s mouths hanging open.
“What did she just do?” asked a interested Buffy.
“I believe they call it teleportation…” Giles said stunned.
“Did you two know she could do that?” Buffy’s interests increased.
“No I…” Xander couldn’t even finish his sentence.
“She’s never done it,” Jesse completed for him. Buffy simply said ‘oh’ and everyone nodded as she said so.
Wow she’s something… for sure, thought Tara while she decided that she’d better also follow Willow’s lead and go to class. She left the remainder of the gang in their own thoughts. The blonde couldn’t wait to ask Willow all about this new power of hers.
TBC…I hope so soon.
