Chapter Four - Yearbook“Alright, you’re all check in Miss Maclay and Miss Stevens,” the manager of Sunnydale Inn said from behind the counter.
“I can’t believe they hooked us up in this wicked hotel,” Faith said excitedly. She looked at all the marble floorings and patterns on the walls. “This place is dope.”
“Dope?” Tara laughed. “You in the ghetto now?”
“Nah, none of that shit,” Faith smirked. “Come on, let’s go check out our rooms...our suite!” The brunette grabbed Tara’s hand as they ran towards the elevators, leaving the bellboy to grab their luggage.
“Shouldn’t we help him?” Tara looked at the guy with sympathy.
“You’re shitting me right? Tare, this is what he gets paid for,” Faith smirked. “Fourth floor please,” she said pressing the button.
Finally getting to their room, Faith and Tara looked around the cream coloured room, accented with a soft black. Their mouths fell open when they seen the gorgeous room. “Shit T, and this is just the sitting area,” Faith grinned, her dimples showing.
“There are two rooms in here,” the young man said behind them. “One is on the left behind those shudder doors, and the other one is on the right behind those glass doors. There should be enough towels until tomorrow and the fridge is full of goodies. Bedding linens are fresh and there is a wide variety of cable networks. Also, the hot tub is out on the balcony. Please enjoy your stay at Sunnydale Inn.”
Tara was left speechless. She made a mental note to go back down to the front desk and make sure the room was free, or else her and Faith would most definitely have to find a different place to stay. She reached in her bag and grabbed some cash for the bellboy. “Thank you,” she smiled softly.
“Holy shit Tare!” Faith shrieked and started bouncing on the soft couch. “This has got to be my most favourite time in Sunnydale,” she settled down, turning on the big screen tv.
“What about that one time Willow and I found you and Buffy in Xander’s basement, making with the kisses,” Tara waggled her eyebrows.
Faith leaned back and moaned a bit. “Oh God yea, that was such a rockin’ ride, man, B was a rockin’ ride.”
“You’re such a horn dog,” Tara snorted, plopping down beside Faith.
“Hey, at least I got laid within the last month...I can’t say the same for you,” Faith sneered, raising an eyebrow. “I mean seriously Tare, I get where you’re coming from and shit, but why don’t you just get laid already.”
“I have my reasons,” Tara licked her lips and stood up.
“If you’re waiting for a certain redhead...you may finally get laid this weekend if she’s here, which I’m sure she will be, I’m pretty sure her and B are still close.”
“Would you stop it with the ‘getting laid’ crap?” Tara asked, raising her own eyebrow. “Faith, you can screw whoever you want, I really don’t care, but please, stay out of my sex life.”
“Or lack of,” Faith muttered. “Oh! Hey! Since you said I can anyone I want, can I have Willow?” She smirked evilly.
“No!” Tara said seriously, then laughed. “I may run into her this weekend...it’d be nice to see if things could be worked out...and I can tell her I felt.”
“Feel,” Faith smiled softly, “face it Tara, you are so head over heels for her still, and you always will be...she’s the one that got away and just think, you may get your second chance yet,” she kissed her best friend on the cheek before yelling with excitement to a bedroom.
Tara smiled and felt good about this weekend for the first time since she received the invitation.

“I grabbed the yearbook,” Xander smiled, sitting next to Willow at a table in the Bronze. “You know, so we can go over everyone and pretend like we knew them, but really didn’t,” he chuckled to himself.
“Hey Xander, has Anya ever called you back after prom night?” Willow asked, curious.
“Yes, in fact, we’ve been keeping in contact with each other for over a year now,” Xander smiled. “She’s showing up tomorrow and I can’t wait to see her.”
“Where is she now?” The redhead asked. “Man, it’s been so long since I’ve talked with any of you, I feel so out of the loop.”
“She was travelling Australia,” Buffy said threw a mouthful of party mix.
“Yea, she was doing some research with a program,” Xander shrugged. “We’ve been emailing and calling each other.”
“You didn’t know Anya’s his girlfriend?” Dawn frowned.
“I don’t know a lot, apparently,” Willow scowled and pouted. “This sucks, I’m moving back home.”
“Really?” All three friends leaned towards Willow and smiled.
“No, not really, I have a business back in New York,” the redhead sighed. “But I promise, I am coming home at least once every two months!”
“Yes!” Buffy threw her head back and clapped. “We’ve missed you around here so much Willow,” she placed her hand on her best friend’s shoulder.
“Whoa, check out Cordy’s hair,” Xander interrupted them and pointed to his ex-girlfriend.
“That’s what I said,” Willow giggled, looking at the ‘80's theme’ dance pictures. She looked over and saw her initials. “Xan, this is my yearbook.”
“Well I said I grabbed a yearbook, didn’t say whose,” the young man chuckled. “It was laying on the coffee table, I didn’t think you’d mind.”
“I don’t mind,” Willow smiled softly.
“Can I see your signatures?” Dawn asked excitedly.
“Sure, I haven’t looked at them in a long while.”
Dawn took to book and read through all the comments and signatures from old high school classmates of her older friends. “Who’s Tara?”
“What?” Willow peered over the tall brunette’s shoulder. “Let me see that,” she frowned and took the book away. Her fingers traced over one particular comment and a remembering smile appeared on her face.
“You were my first kiss - and my last
Love, Tara.”
“Kiss?” Buffy raised an eyebrow. “You and the hot blonde, kissed?”
Willow wiggled in her seat anxiously, she licked her lips and smirked a bit. “Twice actually,” she beamed.
“Twice?” Xander’s eyes went wide. “Twice? And you’ve been holding out on us, why?”
“Twice?” Dawn and Buffy repeated.
“Yes, twice,” Willow sighed. “One was at Adam Riverson’s party, and it only lasted like, two seconds.”
“And the second one?” Buffy teased and nudged her best friend.
“That happened two days before she moved away and I got her to sign my yearbook,” the redhead swallowed, remembering that day when Tara caught up with her on their walk home from school.
~
“Thought you were ignoring me,” Tara smirked and settled next to Willow as they walked down the sunny street.
“And why would I ignore you?” Willow raised an eyebrow and grinned. “Sorry, I wasn’t sure if you were going straight home with Faith or not, if I knew you were looking for me, I would’ve waited a bit longer,” she shifted her bag on her shoulder and juggled her text book and yearbook in her arms.
Tara tucked some hair behind her ear and smiled warmly at her friend. “Faith took off with Buffy anyway,” she bit her bottom lip, “and I wanted to um, know if you wanted to sign my yearbook.”
“Of course!” Willow happily dropped her books and bag and dug out a pen.
“Um,” Tara giggled and bent down with Willow. “We could’ve waited a couple more blocks to your house before dropping everything.”
Willow smiled sheepishly and waved her pen in front of the blonde’s face. “Well, we’re here now, why stop?”
“Okay,” Tara chuckled at the cuteness of her redheaded friend. “May I sign yours too?”
“Duh!” Willow grinned goofily and gave Tara a different coloured pen. “Green, your favourite colour.”
“Matches your eyes,” the blonde shyly smiled and opened up Willow’s yearbook. She didn’t think long about what she was going to put, she wanted to get her feelings across to the redhead somehow.
“All done!” Willow closed the book and placed her blue pen in her backpack. She watched as Tara’s hand moved gracefully over the page in her yearbook. She noticed how adorable Tara frowned a bit when she concentrated and how she’d lick her full lips with her tongue. Swallowing, Willow pushed the memory of their first kiss in the backyard of that party, to the back of her head.
“Me too,” Tara looked up and noticed Willow staring at her intensely. Those green eyes sparkled in the sunlight and her lips looked so inviting. “Will?” she whispered.
It was like Willow was calling for her to move closer. They got so lost in each others gaze and slowly their hands moved to lace together. And that when she felt herself push forward and bring her lips to the redhead’s, engaging in a kiss that could only be described as breathtaking.
Willow parted her lips in surprise, a gasp escaping her lips as she felt Tara’s tongue enter slowly. She moaned quietly and wrapped her fingers in honey gold locks, moving her lips against Tara’s.
Tara shivered when she felt Willow’s hands brace her. But when she felt the kiss become more passionate, she pulled back and stared at the redhead, moving her fingers to her lips. “I-I’m sorry Willow, s-s-sorry,” she quickly stood up and looked around the street.
“Tara wait,” Willow hurried and gathered her things up, but before she had a chance to reach for the blonde, she realized Tara was already half way down the sidewalk, running as fast as could. “I love you,” she whispered, tears spilling from her eyes.
~
Xander, Buffy and Dawn both sat back, mouths open and eyes wide.
“Damn,” Dawn was the first to break the silence. “You two had one confusing friendship.”
“Tell me about it,” Willow sighed and rubbed her forehead. “She was the only one I could see myself growing old with...how rare is that? When you can see yourself with someone for the rest of your life.”
“Rare,” Buffy agreed. “I used to think that way with Faith, but we fought too much and then she took off with Tara.”
“Not with Tara, not like that...” Willow thought for a moment. “You don’t think those two were ever...you know...together?”
Dawn shrugged. “Hey, I met Faith once when I came to visit from Dad’s and I found her curled up around my sister in my bed,” she scowled at her sister. “You couldn’t have made it just one more door down?”
“How was I supposed to know you were coming home so early?” Buffy defended herself. “Besides, it wasn’t like you saw anything anyway, we were just making out.”
“Still, I would’ve liked to come home, go to my room without seeing my sister making out with her hot, leather wearing, sexy brooding, girlfriend,” Dawn smirked.
“I knew it!” Buffy pointed out accusingly. “You had a thing for Faith.”
“Who didn’t?” Dawn raised her eyebrow.
“Me,” Willow smiled softly. “She wasn’t really my type and I resented her for taking all of my best friends away from me...except Cordelia, cause her and Faith never got along, which gave me one reason to actually like Cordelia,” she took a deep breath.
“She took all of us away from you?” Xander frowned.
“Well, she had Buffy’s undivided attention,” Willow started, “they had that rebellious stage going on, and then when you fixed went to fix her pipes and stuff in that rundown motel, she had you there everyday fixing things, and I doubt things got kinky cause hello, she was with B, I mean Buffy...and then Tara...”
“She never took me away,” Dawn smiled and laced her fingers with Willow’s. “Besides, although Faith was very much with the sexiness, I had my eyes on two other people.”
“Who?” Buffy asked.
“Willow and Xander,” the young adult smiled sweetly. “Oh, but it’s over now,” she grinned. “I’m dating a guy back in school, only he’s not there right now, he’s in jail.”
“What?!” All three best friends yelped.
“Oh please, like you never went through a phase,” Dawn shrugged it off.
“We’re having a chat later missy, but right now, Willow needs us in her time of need,” Buffy glared at her younger sister. “Tara and Faith were like sisters when they left Will, you know that.”
“I know,” Willow sighed.
“Your boyfriend is in jail? For what?” Xander continued to look at the brunette.
