Chapter 25



Neither Willow nor Tara were too comfortable going to Naked Halloween fully naked, so both just wore jeans and Willow wore a purple tank top and wore a blue wife-beater.



Tara showed up at Willow’s at six, the party had started at seven. Willow wasn’t quite ready, so she spent the first half hour Tara was there finishing her hair and the little makeup she wore.



“Buffy and Jan are meeting us there.”



“They’re going… together?” Willow asked Tara, from her place at the mirror.



“Yeah. Buffy asked Jan to go last night.” Tara said as she sat down on Willow’s bed.



“Here I was thinking Jan was the man in the relationship.” Willow smirked.



“Why’s that?” Tara asked.



“I’m not sure.” The redhead shrugged, “Just that vibe.”



“It would probably make sense though, her being the man.”



“Why?” She asked the blonde, moving over to the bed, and resting her knees in between Tara’s thighs on the bed, and grabbing her hands.



“Because me and her are roommates, if I was the man and she was the girl… you and Buffy would probably assume we were having an affair.”



“You really think about this?” Willow laughed.



Tara smiled, “I, for the longest time wondered about you and Buffy.”



Willow laughed, “Me. Willow Rosenburg? And Buffy?… She’s not really my type.”



“And your type is…?” Tara urged her on.



“You.” She leaned down and planted a kiss on Tara’s lips. Willow brought her hand up to Tara’s cheek and put the other on the blonde’s shoulder, slightly urging it backward. Tara leaned back onto the bed, her feet still on the ground. Willow layed down on top of her, partially moving them both long ways on the bed. Willow’s leg rested between Tara’s legs, her thigh propped motionless between Tara’s.



Tara’s eyes were closed as she was slowly falling into the kiss, letting go off all tension, her whole body relaxed under Willow, and it was then when she felt Willow’s thigh.



She released the faintest moan and Willow took that as a good thing, and began drawing her right hand down to Tara’s stomach and slowly up her shirt.



As soon as Willow’s hand started moving up Tara’s stomach the door opened loudly. Buffy walked in obnoxiously loud, eyes closed. “If there’s any naked lesbians… cover now.” She placed her hand over her eyes.



“No, Buffy, we’re good.” Tara said, leaning up on her elbows, partially knocking Willow over to the left, but the blonde’s arm was rested on Willow’s back, so she barely moved.



“Good.” She said, and waved to the door. “We thought you’d still be here, so we came to see if we’d all go together.”



“Alright, Buff.” Tara said, kissing Willow’s temple and weaseling her way out of the redhead’s grasp, quickly.



Willow stood up behind Tara and shook her head ‘no’ at Buffy, soundlessly.



Tara turned around laughing, seeing her in the computer screen, “Who’s the man now?”

The four of them got there, and luckily, most people weren’t fully naked. Most guys only had their shirts off, and most girls just had bikini tops on. Of course, they did see the occasional naked person.



The music was loud and the frat house was already trashed, completely.



“I feel kind of awkward.” Willow yelled over the crowd.



“Because you’re not naked or because some of them are?”



“Because the only people I know are the people I came with.”



“Go make new friends.” Tara shouted.



“I’m just gunna go get a drink, do you want one?”



“Please.” Tara nodded, looking over at Jan who was talking to a girl from their Physics. Class.



Willow was in the kitchen grabbing some sodas for herself and Tara when her cell phone started to vibrate.



“Hello?” She shouted.



“Will? Will?.. Will, I don’t know if you can hear me, but I got myself into a bind. I need some help. Come over here when you can… I’m at home… Its Xander.”



“Xander, what?” But he had already hung up.



She abandoned the drinks and went out back into the yard where it was a little bit quieter. She dialed Xander’s number



“Xan? What’s going on?” She asked.



“Um… Anya… she’s um… she’s pregnant. And, I don’t really know what to do.”



“I’ll be right over. Can Tara come too?” She asked.



“Yeah, don’t tell Buffy though. I want to.” He added.



“Okay.” She hung up.



Willow walked back into the house and through the crowd in the living room.



“Can we leave?” She rested a hand on Tara’s shoulder.



“Are you…?” Tara saw a tint of gray in Willow’s green eyes. “Yeah.” She rubbed a hand up and down Willow’s arm.



The two left without saying goodbye to anyone and Willow started leading Tara to her car, not to the dorms.



“What’s wrong, baby?” She asked.



“Xander got Anya pregnant.” She sighed, stopping and turning to Tara.



“Oh my god.” Tara stopped. Willow just nodded, so Tara spoke up again, “What are they gunna do?”



“I dunno, Xander needed some advice though, so he called me… the reliable one.”



“If it helps… while you’re being his reliable one, I… I can be yours.” Tara smiled.



Willow reached forward to Tara with her arms open, pulling Tara into a hug. Willow, was just simply dazed. “Its times like these I thank god I don’t sleep with men.”

An update...yay! I guess I should go out for snowcones more often if it gets you to write . That was a great update...except for stupid Buffy! She ALWAYS walks in at the wrong time . That "Who's the man?" conversation was great! Definitely worthy. Now...Xander getting Anya pregnant?! Bad Xander! I hope everything turns out alright!

Chapter 26



Tara and Willow were almost to the car when Tara stopped her, “Give me the keys, love. I’ll drive.”



“No, I c-c-can do it.” She nodded.



“No. You can’t. You’re a mess sweetie.” Tara ran her hand over Willow’s hairline, brushing hair back. “A beautiful mess, but still.” She said, kissing her forehead.



“If you need to crash,

Then crash and burn you’re not alone.”

“Here.” Willow raised her hand with the keys in it, and sighed.



“Thank you.” Tara approached the car and opened Willow’s door for her. And then getting in the car, herself and starting the engine.



“Xander’s?” Tara asked.



“Yeah.”



“Right.” She said, nodding and places her hands on the wheel. “Where would that be?”



Tara had never really hung out with Xander much. She knew him, and she was fond. He knew her, and he was fond. But the two never really had the chance to get close.



“I’ll talk you through it.” She smiled, holding Tara’s hand.



“I need that though.” Tara pointed to her right hand.



“Sorry.” She withdrew. “Xander’s.”

Tara got to the house, turned off the ignition and waited.



“Now?” Willow stared at the house, asking.



“When you’re ready. No rush.”



“Just… What am I supposed to say to him? Congratulations? When’s it due? How could you have been so stupid? Nothing seems right.”



“You’ll figure it out.” Tara smiled.



“Okay.”



“Okay.”



“Okay…” Willow whispered, stepping out of the car. She headed towards the back door where Xander’s basement ‘apartment’ was.



“Hey.” He opened the door before Willow even knocked. He grabbed her into a hug, bear hug, to be exact.



“Geez, Xan.” She sighed. “How could you have been so stupid?”



“See now. This one wasn’t even my fault. This is was the first stupid that’s happened in my life, that didn’t happen because of me.” He stated clearly, almost proud it wasn’t his fault.



“Can we sit before you babble?” Willow asked, finally realize where the conversation could go.



“Yes. Sit.”



Willow and Tara walked into the basement and sat down on Xander’s bed/pull out couch.



“Cue babble.” The redhead smiled.



“See. I was protected, I used protection. I did. And she told me that she was on the pill. So I figure, hey we’re safe, and then we’ve got backup.”



Willow nodded.



“Then, the first form breaks. So I’m thinking, thank god we’ve got #2. But nope! She lied, ‘cuz she knew I wouldn’t do it without it! She lied to get ME in bed!”



“Did she say why?”



“Something about feeling like she’s been around too long, and something about how she felt the need to reproduce.” He laughed, “I hope she feels the need for dirty diapers, vomit, poop and mood swings…Oh, I combined both babies and her.”



“Gotcha, Xan. Do you know what you’re going to do?” Willow asked, concerned.



He sat down, sighing. “I plan to take 100% of responsibility. What have I got now? A basement? I could use stability. I’ve got three interviews lined up, I should be okay.”



“Good. Good.” Willow nodded, impressed with Xander’s maturity in the situation.



“Not to put two cents in where they don’t go. But, th-there’s an apartment next to Willow’s for r-r-ent. If you planned on moving out of here…”



“I probably should, huh?” He looked around. “I have seven months to earn as much money as possible. I’ll be okay.” He smiled at the two of them. “I just wish I had both parts of having a baby. You know, the love part, at some point. I look at you too… and it envelopes you, the love does. And I never had that… at any point of this baby’s ‘making’. I just hope I’ll be a good dad.” He smiled.



Willow smiled back, “You will be. After all, until the kid’s like thirty you two will be on the same maturity level.” She laughed.



“Thanks.” He smiled. “Wait…”



Willow and Tara sat and chatted with Xander about talking to Anya in the next couple of months, making sure she knows he wants to be there. And the girls left and headed back to the car.



“I’m impressed.”



“Me too.” Willow agreed, getting into the car. A bit giddier than when he had gotten out.



“We worried for nothing.”



“Oh, I’m still worried. Are you kidding? Xander with a baby?” She laughed.



“Well then, we’ll just have to be around a lot.”



“Then we will be. Together.” Willow smiled at her love, grabbing onto her left hand.



“See, I still need that.”

Chapter 27



Tara drove home almost silent. She’d known Xander as long as she knew Willow, but she had only spent time with him on rare occasions. Not because she didn’t like him, or had a problem with him, but because she didn’t think to call him.



“I think we should call Xander the next time we all hang out.”



Willow looked at Tara, slowly. “Okay.” She nodded, smiling.



“Yeah.” Tara kept her eyes straight forward, but nodded just for effect. “Yeah.” She whispered again.



“Go this way.” Willow said, fairly loud. “This way. Get on this road.” She pointed to the left, frantically.



“That’s not the way home.”



“Turn.” Willow said staring at the street, butt forward in the seat, arms on the dash of the car. She looked like a little kid awaiting the arrival of something great.



“Okay.” Tara turned fast, unknowing. The turn came up too fast; she must’ve turned going 40 maybe more. She didn’t like being the driver and not knowing where she was going.



“Up here, there will be a turn on your right. The first one.”



“Gotcha.” Tara said, turning on her blinker.



“Now up here, park on the side of the raid.”



Tara just started to realize where they were going. She smiled, “Okay.”



The car came to a shallow stop and Tara turned the keys and took them out. Willow’s eyes were plastered on the building. She didn’t take her eyes off it as she opened the door, stepped out and headed towards the building.



She took out her keys and turned a bolt on the front door. The door turned and Willow smiled as though she had just found the buried treasure. The redhead looked over to her left at Tara, an amazing smile looked simply beautiful in the light. Tara smiled back, and Willow took off into a wild run. Tara did her best to keep up.



They went up a flight of stairs and down a small hallway and Willow stopped. One door, C13. “I hope people don’t start calling me that. You know, how people in movies do that. ‘Hey you’re B2 right?’ ‘Hey its A19!’. I don’t wanna be C13.”



“You don’t have to worry. I think you will always be Willow.” She smiled at her love. Willow stared at the door and traced the letter and number over with her index finger. “Open it, baby. Its yours after all.”



Willow unlocked the door and proceeded inside. It was bare, as to be expected. The walls empty front room vacant. She saw an empty dark kitchen connected to the living room, separated by half of a wall. And down the hall as she walked, she saw two empty bedrooms and an empty bathroom. It was vacant, but perfect nonetheless. The apartment was perfect. She turned around and saw Tara staring at her. Tara was perfect, the apartment was perfect, and everything was perfect.



“Do you want to stay here tonight?” Willow asked Tara, quietly.



Tara smiled at Willow, whose eyes were sparkling. “Sure. I’ll be right back though.” She said, exiting the apartment, leaving the door open.



Willow continued looking, although she physically saw nothing she saw more possibility than she would’ve seen, had there been things inside. She sat down in the master bedroom and rested her back against a wall.



“Here you are.” Tara smiled. She had a light blue blanket in her arms.



“Blanket?” She asked.



“It was in the trunk. Thought we might get chilly.”



“Nice thinking.” The redhead smiled at her, waving her over with a look.



Tara sat down next to Willow and laced their fingers together, smiling. She laid the blanket over the two of them as Willow rested her head down upon her side and they got close enough for comfort.



Tara kissed the top of her head. “I love you.” She whispered. But Willow had already fallen asleep, a dreamy smile on her face.

That was beautiful - the emptiness of the room really amplifies the power of their love and how much deeper it goes than just the surface. Tara turning abruptly when Willow told her to also displays the trust they share, even with the unknown. They are such a cute couple, and I can't wait to read more ^^ .
