Chapter Fourteen - Take Me Away



“No, over to the left more,” Patricia scratched her head a bit as Tara moved an antique picture above the new couch in Willow’s apartment.



“Mama, Willow’s going to be back from her business trip in a few hours, we should hurry this up,” Tara mounted the painting on the wall and carefully got off the couch.



“I still can’t believe you’re moving out,” Patricia tucked dark blonde hair behind her daughter’s ear.



“I’m only a five minute drive away,” Tara smiled sheepishly, pulling her mother in for a hug.



“But still, you’re moving out, spreading your wings...leaving me with Faith,” Patricia chuckled.



“Aww, you love her company, she taught you how to pull that Britney move out on the dance floor,” Tara waggled her eyebrows.



“Which embarrassed the hell out of you!”



Tara shrugged and moved the last empty box by the door. “You were doing it in the middle of the grocery store,” she smirked.



“What can I say...Mama’s got moves,” Patricia waggled her eyebrows playfully.



Tara laughed, taking one last look at the small apartment she now shared with her lover, Willow. “I can’t believe her and I have finally found each other.”



“You deserve each other,” her mother patted her on the shoulder.



A quiet bang could be heard in the hallway, followed with a low rumble sound. Tara raised her eyebrows as her and her mother opened the door to find Faith pinned to the wall by a rather, aroused blonde.



Patricia’s eyes went wide as she quickly looked away, horror expressions showing her face as she just witnessed her surrogate daughter caught in the act.



“Hey! Get a room!” Tara yelled, giggling as she shut the door. “Man, horny women these days.”



“Oh Tara,” Patricia scolded before moving towards the small kitchen area, putting the clean dishes away.



Tara shrugged and smiled to herself, life was great. Now she just couldn’t wait until Willow got home so they could make up for the two days the redhead was gone.

Tara sat on her doorstep, watching the time on her watch tick by slowly. She sighed a couple of times before looking back down the streets. Summer was over and she couldn’t wait until Willow got back from a two week vacation with her parents. She missed her deeply.



She remembered how excited Willow was to go away to Florida for a while, relaxing in the sun and meeting new people. Of course the thing that killed Tara the most was the fact that she was invited to go with The Rosenbergs, but politely declined, still feared by her deep feelings for Willow...the last thing she wanted to do was ruin her awesome friendship with the redhead.



“Why so glum? Missing someone?” A voice said from behind her.



Tara swung her head around and found herself face to face with her crush. “Willow? How’d you get behind me?”



Willow smiled and made her way to the steps, sitting next to the blonde. “Your mom let me in from the back... I kinda took the back alley route.”



“Oh...welcome home!” Tara smiled and hugged her best friend.



“Thank you,” Willow grinned and pulled out a small box from her backpack. “Here, I got something for you.”



Tara looked into green eyes and smiled softly. “You didn’t have too.”



“I know, but I wanted too... the least I could do since you never came with us.” Willow smiled sadly.



“I-I’m sorry Willow,” the blonde’s voice faltered.



“Don’t be, I had a good time...I mean, I am sad that you didn’t want to come, but I had fun.”



“That’s g-good,” Tara sighed and cursed herself and looked at the neatly wrapped box in her hand.



“Open it, I think you’ll like it,” Willow moved closer and rested her chin on Tara’s shoulder playfully.



Tara unwrapped the box and opened it, inside lay a white shell on a chain and engraved on the shell was ‘Best Friends’. A ring also lay inside with their names engraved on the inside. “Moonstone,” Tara smiled. “Oh Willow, I love these.”



“Really?” the redhead asked nervously.



“Yes,” Tara smiled and looked at the shell again. “So this makes us official? Best friends, I mean.”



Willow nodded, giving Tara her adorable grin. “I have one too, we can where them together.”



“Thank you,” Tara pulled her best friend into a hug, melting into her embrace.



Willow swallowed and squeezed the blonde’s body softly before pulling back. “Miss me?” she asked.



“You have no idea,” Tara whispered under her breath while nodding.



“Good, cause I missed you too...I have so much to tell you!” Willow bounced excitedly. “First, when we checked in the hotel, this guy tried to pick up my mom and my dad wasn’t going to hear any of his lame one liners so he never tipped the guy with money, instead his tip was to make sure and check to hit on a woman when her child and husband aren’t around, oh my gods, Tara, it was funny,” Willow babbled, grabbing Tara’s hands while she continued to smile and talk, “and then we went shopping and their was the person in one of the store windows and my mom thought the girl was a robot...Oh! And I wish you were there because we met the author of your favourite book...so I got you this...” She pulled out a book from Tara’s favourite author, and had it autographed personally for Tara.



“Willow!” Tara’s eyes went wide as she looked at the book with the young author’s name written inside. “Thank you!”



Willow smiled and pointed to her cheek. “This deserves a kiss,” she giggled as she felt Tara lean in and brush her lips lightly over her freckled skin.



“You’re amazing,” Tara whispered, placing one last lingering kiss on the redhead’s forehead.



Willow sighed and snuggled into the blonde’s embrace. “It’s good to be home.”

Willow opened the door to her apartment building and found it dark and empty. “Tara?” she frowned and turned on the lights, finding a small post-it note on the side table.



Went out to grab a few items for tonight’s dinner.

I miss you.

Willow smiled and put her luggage against the back of the couch, going to the fridge and grabbing herself a bottle water. Tara was always thinking of her, looking at the freshly stacked water bottles and her favourite Oreo cookies by the cookie jar.



“Hey you,” Tara shut the door with a soft click, dropping the grocery bags onto the kitchen table. “I missed you,” she smiled and grabbed Willow by the waist, pulling her in for a slow kiss.



“Oh Tara, I missed you too, so much!” Willow sighed and nuzzled the blonde’s neck. “Too long,” she mumbled against creamy skin.



“Did you have a nice trip?” Tara asked, tucking red strands of hair behind her lover’s ears.



“Lonely,” Willow pouted but then smiled widely. “However, I did get a five hundred dollar bonus!”



“Willow! Good for you!” Tara said excitedly and cupped Willow face, kissing her again slowly.



Willow melted into the kiss and clasped her hands to Tara’s back. “I love you,” she murmured.



Tara giggled softly and pulled back, licking her lips. “I love you too,” she smiled.



“Sorry I couldn’t be here, helping you move in,” Willow looked around the apartment and noticed only a few added items. “Where’s your stuff?”



Tara blushed. “Well, I have a lot of stuff, so most of it is packed away for now...until we get a bigger place.”



Willow beamed. “So then we can have all of our stuff put out on display together when we get a bigger place?”



Tara nodded shyly.



“Yay!” Willow squealed softly and kissed Tara again.



“Faith and Buffy were caught making out in the hallway, again,” Tara laughed, pulling Willow to the couch.



Willow rolled her eyes. “Doesn’t surprise me,” she grinned. “I’m glad Buffy decided to stay for a while, before heading back to California.”



“I bet Dawn misses her,” Tara smiled sadly.



“Dawn is coming with her next time,” Willow explained. “They were talking about moving here together...though, can you see Buffy, Dawn and Faith living in one apartment?”



“Party central,” Tara chuckled. “I’d rather live here, with my beautiful girlfriend, where the party is for two people only... a very intimate party for two.”



“Mmm,” Willow leaned in and kissed Tara gently, before parting her lips and accepting the blonde’s tongue. “Party for two indeed.”
