The Edge of Silence --- Chap. 3d - And Let Me Sleep

Postby Triscuit7 » Fri Aug 02, 2002 7:26 pm

Hi Kittens - The wanderers have returned home to NJ/Phila. We had a delightful time in New England, um, 'resting'...

Darcy drove the whole way home today (10 hours) so she's off spending quality time with the fur-children (who are no longer bastards - at least in VT). That means the final edits on the next update will happen sometime tomorrow. Yay!

I just wanted to stop by tonight and make sure no one suffered permanent harm from oxygen deprivation or fainting. Thanks again for reading.

Lindy - Oh my and wow indeed. Needless to say that scene was, um, fun to figure out (waggles eyebrows) and write.

Tiggrscorpio - Stimulation is good, it keeps the blood flowing properly. You know, since you mentioned having difficulties forming coherent thought, maybe I should start posting driving warnings at the beginning of the NC-17 section from now on - I don't want any accidents on the way home from work simply to take a cold shower. Thank you.

The Inward Sea - Double thuds - has someone ratted me out? I love thuds! And thanks for the congrats.

umadamber - I'm glad you're enjoying things so far. Now I just have to stay ahead of all you kittens.

spazz07 - Most erotic? Thank you very much, but please be careful with the breathing, 'kay? As for the ceremony, Darcy is a performer and likes attention; I'm not and don't (at least not crowds). So four people in one room, and I resemble your name. Total klutz. Oh well, I didn't trip, fall, faint, or break anything....

Tulipp - Thanks for 'delurking' in my fic. And I don't think vengeance is a bad thing, but then I repeatedly tell people that I'm a good person, not a nice person. And I hope you enjoyed "River".

Jennpurr - Hey, you. You know that I'm not trying to kill any kittens; I just like to give them, um, exercise. And hey, multiple thudding guys, thanks!

tiredsoul - Speechless is good . Thank you.

AutumnT - The name sort of had a rationale, although the scene I had in mind when I started is now incredibly minor and will be posted this weekend. Thanks for the congrats and plans for the honeymoon had writing time included. "Research" if you will...

sparrow - I love your choice of adjectives, little bird, but please be careful and watch out for windows - they're harder to see than walls. Anyone able to help sparrow out with some oxygen?

DarkWiccan - *GASP*s are nice too. Help, we need oxygen here too....

BFR from Paris - Now without a French dictionary, I can't do the specifics, but BFR please be careful when you fall over; floors are hard. I recommend carefully positioned pillows or futons; they're much softer than floors. Merci beaucoup.

hazeljoie - I understand completely. That forgetting to blink thing happens when I write and I have to lie down for a few.

MadeinNZ - You so wanted "good morning" and "hello" - I just couldn't disappoint. Hope that kept you warm for a while. And the hotness and, um, the honeymoon, maybe it did... thumb wrestling, yeah, lots of it...

Canadian Kitty - Ummm.... ummm...good - it was, wasn't it? Thanks.

Thanatopsis - glad you enjoyed it, o wordless one...

Puff - wow is good and thanks.

funkyasian - Hey Steph, just concentrate breathing is the easy part. Be careful in the shower, okay?

More later - got this great big thunderstorm coming thru and I don't want to blow up the computer....

Postby Triscuit7 » Sat Aug 03, 2002 3:41 am

Hey, I'm back - had to wait through two storms with major lightning. Pretty in a scary way - the three kitties were majorly freaked.

Anyway...

LeatherQueen - Thanks. I'm glad you thought it was incredibly hot, but I hope I didn't melt the Pens, since there is more story, both hot and not.... And Darcy & I did have fun with the research, but Kittens will just have to guess if it, uh, is appearing or not in this fic...

Ghostwriter - Thank you. I like OMGs too and the honeymoon was very nice.

Dumbsaint - Thanks for stopping by...I aim to please.

mollyig - Glad you enjoyed the imagery again, esp. the Willow-map Tara "constructs". Thanks.

xita - Pimping the panderer, hmmmm... Thanks for your efforts; it seems like lots of kittens are enjoying this. And a foot fetish too - I thought that would show up back in "River" when Willow was taking off Tara's boots. Big admission: Darcy "Can we research this?" Me: "uh-huh."

scifiacid - Thuds are great, thanks, but you didn't hurt yourself fainting, right?

Rane018 - Hey, look who's here. Glad you liked that, um, those scenes. Thanks.

blameburner - Many thanks and wow does pretty much cover W/T hotness.

Hee... I know you are not trying to kill us. Those last two chapters were just... WOW... :drool Exercise... :lol Yeah, plenty of exercise went on there. Thank you for those, um, lessons. OMG.... Did I just say that outloud. :blush

And you are very welcome for the multiple thudding guys. My pleasure. And I will be back later for the update.

Thanks, Mel. Welcome back! ;)

Xita's right, she has been pimping this story out. But you know what? I'm so glad she did. This is the stuff dreams are made of. You know, wet, sweaty, getting caught up in the bedclothes dreams...which I am currently off to have many of. Um, I hope.

Thank you. :)

Hi kittens - I'll post the update in just a few minutes, but first:

TareBearRS -O MY GOD!s really are cool. Glad you enjoyed the hotness and thanks for reading.

Jennpurr - Hiya girl. Darcy says hi. And yep, I think you said something about "lessons" outloud. So does the "teacher" get an apple? I like Granny Smith 'cause they're tart. BTW we went fruit shopping today...

scifiacid - Bliss is good (see below)

tommo - Hey, tommo. Thanks for dropping in and taking the time to read my fic. And I can't thank Xita enough. Every panderer needs a good pimp, right? Here's hoping that the dreams are great ones and thanks again.

The Edge of Silence - Chapter 3e: And Let Me Sleep

Postby Triscuit7 » Sat Aug 03, 2002 6:32 pm

Hi kittens - this is the last section of Chapter 3.

Rating - I think this has shifted from NC-17 to a strong R, but my circuits are sort of overloaded so I can't be certain.

Disclaimer - some angst. Sorry, can't be helped.

*******

This was bliss, Willow thought as her lips closed on Tara's nipple and pulled it into her mouth.

Bliss, Tara thought as she rocked her pussy against Willow's and watched her lover worship her breasts.

Willow nuzzled Tara's breasts - so firm, so soft.

She loved feeling Willow's slim body beneath hers, angular but still softly feminine.

She released the nipple and simply watched Tara's face - watched as it opened up like a flower - a strongly attractive face that became beautiful as pleasure overrode Tara's defenses.

Tara gazed into green eyes, eyes that guarded so many secrets and hid so many hurts - eyes that when they made love held a look of absolute adoration.

My beautiful lover.

Dearest love.

******

Tara played with a few strands of red hair and smiled down at the drowsy redhead. Willow lay curled up, snuggling into her. It seemed that she had become a Willow pillow. She giggled a little.

“Shhhh, no little earthquakes,” Willow murmured, kissing her belly button.

"How you doing, sweetie?" She tugged a strand of hair gently.

"Sleepy." The redhead slurred the word.

“I know, but we should get up, get showered, eat something – besides each other, I mean.”

Willow chuckled. "But you taste sooo good," and licked her belly to demonstrate.

"MMmmm." Tara wriggled reflexively. "And so do you, but ..."

"No more snuggles?" Willow lifted her head and smiled, belying her disappointed tone. The fire in her green eyes was subdued and she looked as contented as a well-fed cat.

"We really should get up." Tara tried to look stern, but her resolve was clearly wavering. "But snuggles are nice," she allowed.

"We deserve snuggle time." Willow scented victory.

Tara glanced over at her alarm clock. "It's after four – Buffy’s out of class now." Her eyes widened. "D-Do you think she'd just drop by without calling? I mean, she knows we're doing 'spells' this afternoon." She grinned at the appropriated word.

Willow returned her grin. "They were pretty wonderful 'spells', too."

Her grin softened at the memory and Tara felt hers do likewise. She could look at Willow like this for hours. With a sigh, she shook herself. "Buffy?"

"I don't know, Tara," Willow replied, furrowing her brow in thought. "She might. She's kind of at loose ends right now. No Riley and all. And she doesn't suspect anything like this between us." The redhead waved a hand at them and the disheveled bed.

"Are y-you going to t-tell her?" Tara stammered out the question.

"Of course I am!" Her certainty faded. "I'm just not sure how. I mean, well, I guess you start at the beginning – but I'm not certain what the beginning is." Willow rested her head back down.

Tara frowned slightly, but let Willow avoid the issue for now. For her, 'how' was comparatively easy, and direct was best. She knew the words she would choose: "I'm in love with Willow." But she wasn't certain that Willow would use her own version of that statement. Five easy words, six syllables, and one name substitution, but her lover might reduce it to "I'm having sex with Tara." She could accept that – she had long ago learned to enjoy the moment – but she wanted the other desperately.

She asked a simpler question, "So should we get up or not?"

"Yeah, I guess we should – but I sooo don't wanna." Willow sat up, her nose scrunched up in distaste at the thought. "Showers, um, how are we going to do that?"

"Did you pack a robe?" Tara slipped off the bed.

"Nope, just an oversized sleep shirt," Willow admitted.

"That should work fine." She snagged her lover's zippered bag and tossed it to her.

Willow snickered.

"What?"

"Ummm, you kind of, well, you know – bounced. I mean, not all of you, just your breasts," the redhead explained with a pleased grin. "Bouncy, naked Tara."

She snorted, but returned the smile. "You do, too, you know."

"Not as much!" Willow protested.

Tara grinned as she scooped up her robe and slipped it over her shoulders, "Ready, sweetie?"

"I guess what I was asking is, is this a together thing or not?" Willow asked as she pulled her shirt over her head.

"What would you like?"

"You mean, you'd really shower with me and all? I mean, sure, you just sort of offered, but I'm a little surprised, is all." Willow looked conflicted. "I, um, never did that with Oz. We, uh, never had the opportunity, I guess."

"Y-You can, if you w-want to." She stammered as she repeated her offer, a little hurt by Willow's mention of her ex-boyfriend.

"Oh, I'm big with the wanting to, but, hey, still surprised here. I just thought that, um, you wouldn't want everyone to know. And two women in the shower together, well, that's sort of notice-y." Willow blushed a little bit.

Tara sighed. "I've never made being a lesbian a secret, Willow."

"Well, yeah, I know, but I was thinking more on a personal level. You know ... us."

There was no easy way. "They all know you're my lover." Tara forced the words out, trying really hard not to stammer, and flinched inside at the resultant flat sound of her voice.

"Huh?"

"Th-They already know."

"You told them?" Willow looked even more surprised.

"N-No, th-they sort of, um, overheard. W-We were k-kind of, um - n-noisy," she explained.

"They heard - us?" Willow sank back onto the bed, stunned. "They ... We ... Uh ..." The pieces suddenly clicked into place. "Oh. My. God. That's why ...," she swallowed, "... how all those people know my name."

"Y-Yes." Tara couldn't bring herself to look in her lover's eyes.

"I know you screamed my name, and I, uh, screamed yours, didn't I?" Willow asked softly.

She tried to reassure her lover. "I sh-should have t-told you. Th-They w-won't h-hear anything again. I d-did a s-silencing spell b-before you got h-here. I'm s-sorry, so s-sorry."

*******

Willow wasn't really certain how she felt, but embarrassed had to be right up there – somewhere near the top, right next to confused. That smug was also up there was part of why she was confused. Her eyes were drawn to Tara, who had known last night why strangers were greeting her. Tara – shy, quiet, unobtrusive Tara – had known for over a day that strangers had heard them making love. Strangers who were her neighbors to be sure – but not friends. But that wasn’t what was bothering her girlfriend.

No, Tara's concern was totally for her. She studied the blonde, who was carefully not looking at her as she repeated "I'm sorry" like some kind of mantra. It truly looked like she hoped the earth would open up and swallow her. Tara was wholly focused on her and her reaction. Willow sucked in a deep breath as Tara's feelings for her became crystal clear. Not only did the blonde love her, she was in love with her.

And – god! – she didn't know what she felt, exactly. Need, want – those were physical. Pleasure, happiness, warmth, caring ... she could even admit to love, too. Loving another woman hadn't been a stretch for her; she'd loved Buffy for years, but that was as a friend. Tara was far more than a friend, but was she "in love" with her?

Willow licked her lips nervously and acknowledged her need to be avoid-y Willow on that question for now. One thing was certain: she couldn't let Tara beat herself up over this any longer. That hurt to watch. She was a bit surprised to realize that it hurt much more than watching Buffy agonize over Riley. She slipped off the bed and crossed to where the blonde stood.

"Hey, Tare." She touched her lightly on the shoulder. "Hey. It's okay. I'm not mad or anything."

Tara looked up. "Y-You're n-not?" She seemed astounded.

"No, silly. Shocked, surprised, maybe even a little proud – well, I don't know about that last." Her heart leapt as Tara gave her a fleeting smile. Part of her brain added “giddily happy” to the list of what she felt.

Tara wiped her eyes and let herself be hugged.

"So – is it a really, really good silencing spell? 'Cause – we were kind of loud again – and I'm pretty sure I, uh, rattled the door." Willow blushed at the memory as she held her lover.

"Yes, it's a good one," Tara confirmed with a shy smile.

She brushed blonde hair back from Tara's face. "That's why you have the extra candles lit, isn't it? And the incense?"

"Uh-huh. I didn't think you'd noticed." Her lover smirked just a little, her confidence returning.

"Hey, distracted here by this beautiful woman," she squeezed Tara gently, "but not really blind. It just took me a while is all."

"You, um, enjoyed the distracting?" Her lover arched both eyebrows in amusement.

"Definitely. Really big with the enjoying here." Willow was curious. "This spell – does it have to be renewed every time we want to make love or is it a one-time deal?"

"Um, it needs to be renewed, but it's Wiccan, so the renewal is cyclical," Tara explained, gently rubbing her back. "It'll sync with my cycle, since I'm the originator."

Willow frowned, suddenly worried. "Uh, Tara? Does it have an on/off switch? I mean, this is Sunnydale, and ..."

"It's okay, sweetie. I can turn it on and off as needed, so if we need help we can get it. I'll, uh, show you how to control it so you can do it, too. In c-case you're here when I'm not." She smiled slightly. "We can re-set it after we shower. But, Wiccan spells tend towards balance. No one will hear what happens in here for the period of time that the spell is active, but when that's finished it'll get kind of noisy in here. We'll hear – well, everything outside the room, amplified – for an equal period of time."

"Tara, that's awful!" Willow exclaimed. "We can try to be quiet."

"No." Tara shook her head emphatically. "I like hearing you, a-and I think you like hearing me, so no trying to be quiet. Besides, Scott upstairs says headphones work really well, so I bought some while I was out today."

"Scott lives upstairs? Oh, lord, we were that loud?" Willow moaned.

Tara grinned wickedly. "Uh-huh." Then more soberly, "So – shower together or not?"

"Um," Willow hesitated. "Not. But that's just for today," she added.

"Okay." Tara looked a little disappointed.

"Hey." Willow gave her lover another squeeze. "Not today doesn't mean never. It'll be my first time in a shower with a lover.” She kissed Tara's soft lips and whispered seductively, "And with you, well, I'm thinking I'll want to take my time." She released Tara and stepped back. "Besides, I'm kinda afraid that if we shower together we'll take so long that Buffy will come looking for us. And I'm really not into adding visual exhibitionism to the auditory kind!" 'At least, not yet,' she added to herself, shivering a little. "Okay?"

Tara smiled with apparent relief. "Okay!"

So good. So very good. I really like the way that Willow didn't jump right in with the "I'm in love with you too". Its realistic that she would have to sort a few things out for herself first. Love this story more and more.

Hi, Jenn!

I'm partial to Winesaps, but I'm not picky. Thanks for the Washington!

Corky (Triscuit) doesn't understand why everyone thinks the update we posted while on our honeymoon was so hot. I understand completely, of course!

We did discuss whether some of these sections should have a warning about not trying this at home unless you have good knees (which neither of us do). But we manage all right, so I guess they're safe enough.

The ceremony was much nicer than she's admitting, and she got through it fine. The application process actually took longer than the ceremony itself!

And I enjoyed the honeymoon so much that I can't wait for some other state to pass something similar so I can marry her all over again and go on another one.

Go Darcy!! Hee... glad you had a wonderful time. I hate that we have to go certain places to be legally recognized and even then, you can't actually get "married," married... but it's how we ourselves look at it, I guess. I wish you the best. :)

And you are very welcome for the apple. ;) I haven't tried that kind that you suggested, glad the other was okay though.

And how in the world did she not think that was HOT?? OMG...

Re: The Edge of Silence - Chapter 3e: And Let Me Sleep

Postby Triscuit7 » Sun Aug 04, 2002 6:40 am

Hi kittens - I just wanted to stop by and say "hi", which I just did, didn't I? I'm heading to the kitchen in a few to make, uh, a vanilla cream sauce that, um, may appear in this fic (blushing now).

Anyway...

MadeinNZ - I think that with everything that happened to Willow in high school (the first season opener and "seizing the moment" and Moloch, just to name two), she's going to be wary. Add that she's trying to deal with possibly loving a woman, and I think the wariness is going to jump exponentially. I'm glad you're liking it; it still has quite a way to run.

Inward Sea - Glad you like my Willow and Tara. I don't know if I'm really inspired, but I'll take the compliment. Thanks.

LeatherQueen - Smug Willow, yep. In her situation I'd either faint of embarrassment or blush beet-red with a very happy smile on my face. And thanks - the honeymoon was very nice.

Jennpurr - Hi Jen. Season 4 has so many blanks to fill in, too. I find myself watching a show and wondering okay where is Tara and what's she doing, or how could they just leave it right there, what else happened? Glad you like. The apple was very tasty too.

Darcy - So weird to do this since you're sleeping in the other room (hehe), but since you brought it up: I just prefer the scene in the doorway for hotness.

Puff - I'm pulling chapter titles from a particular song and sometimes they fit completely and sometimes they only fit a little, bitty image in a chapter and then sometimes the characters go off and have great roaring amounts of sex in a chapter that I planned for major cuddle time. This is going to sound weird to anyone who isn't a writer but, I'd rather listen to the characters and let the characters do what they want than try to force them to conform to my idea of a plot. Methinks other folks should have done that in a certain season that will go unmentioned here.

funkyasian - Hi Steph. And you're right. Willow is going to look carefully before she commits. Thanks again.

We're hoping to get married for real in NJ for our 20th (in two years); there's currently a lawsuit with 7 or 8 gay and lesbian couples involving marriage in NJ. Hopefully we won't have been civil unioned too many places since each will probably have to be annulled for us to get officially married. Jeez could this be more complicated? Oops, shouldn't ask questions like that should I?

Thanks again.

TareBearRS - Okay, one shower scene vote.

Rane018 - Hi ya! Yep, Willow and Tara together being all lusty, and cute, and nervous. Thanks Rane. And that's two shower scene votes.

Thanatopsis - I like farce a lot (never guess, would ya?), but you have to be careful that it doesn't go on too long... And you're number three with the shower.

***Just be aware that the shower scene when it first appears

may not be quite what you expect, since Willow and Tara are already nudging me in a particular direction. But there can be more than one right? (listens) Uh, they said yes.

saphire tear - Hi there. I'm really pleased you read this fic and I hope you slept really well. A good night's sleep and your eyes should recover.

It probably is legal to marry in Holland, but the trick is that it's then not recognized anywhere else, which is the same problem with our Vermont civil union. Love, committment and emotional stuff aside, it's just a major hassle legally not being able to have a joint policy for car insurance, or right of survivorship on the frickin' house, and the medical thing is just a nightmare. Gods, you can tell we're middle-aged, can't you?

spazz07 - Hi Nath. Willow and Tara are not the most secure individuals although both are sweetly neurotic in their own way. Toss love in the cauldron and well, emotions are going to run high. And there will be more soon. Today and tomorrow are writing days, but I'm going to try to get a bunch ready by early evening since Darcy is going to NY for training and will have a wicked ugly commute, i.e. my baby isn't going to be up to reading in the evenings this week. If I do, I'll be able to post throughout the week. Otherwise, it'll be something Monday and then nothing until Saturday evening.

willntlover - That's a great string of adjectives you used. Thanks.

mollyig - Yeah, Willow's scared of admitting what she's feeling to herself, and Tara's scared of frightening Willow off with what she's feeling. Glad you like that. And Willow and the neighbors, hehe.

triscuit - well, if you guys do get married in nj, then i'll be fairly close to wish you well...since i live in central jersey and all...i heard about those lawsuits but never really followed up on them in detail...hmmm...maybe i should. i think it's because i'm not seriously considering marriage at the moment...that and i dont' really have a person to marry (which is always important when you want to get married :p ) - but please...by all means, keep up the research. i'm sure all of us kittens love to reap the benefits...:grin

Hiya, Mel. :) I know... I do that too, with Season 4. It's like, I wonder what Tara would do when she would catch glimpses of Willow walking around the campus. And when was the first time Tara saw Willow? Was it in the Wicca meeting or did she see her before then? You know, questions like that. I wish they had elaborated more on them.

Yes, I love, not just like. ;) And I'm really looking forward to more. I know you won't disappoint. Hee... glad you liked the apple. I have more, if you like?

Take care, girl,

Jen

Hi kittens - Just wanted to let you know that I'll have an update posted by this evening (PG13-weak R: sorry, but this isn't just an NC-17 fic ).

funkyasian - Hey, Steph. I like vanilla, but chocolate's good too. And I recommend skipping blackberries if you go for a romantic time with fruit (the seeds are nasty). And about that shower scene, see below.

Jennpurr - Hey Jen. I actually spent a lot of time yesterday reading all the S4 transcripts to create a timeline for the rest of this fic. Not surprisingly I got to thinking about the post-Oz, pre-Tara section. I might do something Tara-ish there; still thinking though...

And can I have another apple please?

Okay kittens, the setting of Edge currently is Tuesday evening of the week between WAY(Sunday) and Superstar (Thur night - Monday afternoon). To stay true to the fic and the characters and the kittens:

1) There will be one shower scene set during the Superstar portion.

2) There will be another set during the week immediately following the events of Superstar, but preceding WTWTA.

Ciao, Melissa

Hey, I love that it isn't just an nc-17 fic. It shows how their relationship developed but not cheating them out of their sexuality. I am buying it, heck I love that. I loved the angst in the last part. Willow is feeling the closet.. , the walls are holding her in. That is the way I always saw season 4. Willow didn't have doubts about Tara and what they were doing, but she didn't know how she fit into the world with a female lover. Look forward to more, and superstar is my fave show.. take your time, go slow.. i am lovin this!

If we get hot stuff like that every time you get married, by all means, do it a lot ;)

saphire tear:

AFAIK the Netherlands are the only country with real marriage being open to gays without any differences (someone correct me if I'm wrong please).

There's some form of "marriage" in at least Denmark (they were first in 1989), Iceland, France, Germany, Sweden and Norway. It's usually called differently ("Registered Domestic Partnership") and there still are some differences to "real" marriage for example considering adoption.

Don't know about recognition in other countries. It would make sense for, say, Swedish partnerships to be recognized in Germany, wouldn't it? Knowing bureaucracy they're probably not. I really don't know though.

Its doesn't have to be all NC-17 (although - don't get me wrong. Love the NC-17). This is a great story regardless of the rating.
