Re: FF: Milestones (Sequel to Unexpected Consequences)

Postby Murasaki S » Fri Sep 27, 2002 10:48 pm

One thing that I forgot to mention in my comment for the previous part is that it takes guts to follow the logic of the story sometimes. Seeing Tara getting really mad and out of control was scary, but it made the fight scene stronger that you really went for it and didn't gloss over it.

In this part there were a bunch of places where I thought you really hit it on the nail with reactions that felt real and true like when Willow holds back from telling Tara she loves her because she doesn't want to pressure her and then she realizes this is the first time she's censored herself like that. And it seemed right on that Sheila would go on the offensive at first, until Willow read her the riot act. She just seems like the type.

Willow found just the right way to make Sheila appreciate how considerate and giving Tara really is, when she explained how Tara got Ira access to the library. I could almost hear the gears turning and Sheila clueing in, finally.

Nice job of making things even more tense by having Tara get off the sanctuary. :eek . I'm kind of worried about the linebacker guy. Hopefully Tara's mage powers will enable her to protect herself.

Re: younger women, Tara's already got Willow, she should leave the younger women to Buffy ;)

Urghh... that man sounds ominous... bad feeling, bad feeling...

But great update, Lisa!

And hey, Emily is here... once Tara returns to the santurary, (and Willow and Brent reads her the riot act) she'll be able to help Tara, right?

I was wondering where Anya was in your story, glad to have that answered. :)

Uh-oh! that can't be good...

I've just realized that I'm completely addicted to this fic :)

I love the AU you've created, Tara as a mage, the sanctuary, the "girls-only" thing... :drool

Anyway, I look forward to the next update!

Lisa of Nine: Great update, I hated to see Tara like that, I REALLY, really hope that whatever is wrong with her doesn't cause too many problems for her and Willow, and the rest of the guards. Like everybody here I really don't like this guy that stopped to help Tara, somethings a little off with him, and who does he think he is, saying that this is his "lucky day" there is only ONE person for Tara and that is now and forever Willow. I liked how Brianna saw that something was wrong with Tara, very cool. I can't wait to read more.

Odd that no-one in the Santuary picked up on Tara using magic to breach a wall, even if temporary.. bad security I would say. (I was expecting lots of alarms going of at that actually)

Tara just needs to calm down, a LOT.. trouble is she's going about it the wrong way; alone and away :( . Pretty much creating more problems as she goes. Yeah, she has plenty of repair-work to do when she gets back.

Willow stubbornly getting a horse to go after her Tara, I can just visualize her walking around with sadle-stuff :) Maybe not very wise but understandable. Somehow I get the impression you know a lot about horses Lisa, heh :D

Tara never asked for power like this, kinda sad she still has to handle it even when she tried hard to avoid power of this magnitude.

About Sheila being almost reasonable.... can you stop that ? I love to hate her :evil

P.S. Lisa, could you send me an email at grimlock@xs4all.nl ? For some reason mail I send to you doesn't seem to arrive and

private-messages are kinda impossible to reply to :(

Yet another great update Lisa,

Tara's all over the place, that really can't be good & using magic to leave the santuary undetected again not good.

On the plus side Shelia seems to have gotten a clue.

I used to have a pony called Mercury, mind you that was about 10 years ago. I haven't been riding in ages, now me & my siblings have grown up my dad doesn't keep any horses on the farm. must look into it sometime.

WOW... Lisa, another great chapter! :kiss

Poor, Ceri. She really got the rough end of that one, huh? I feel bad for her. Tara is going to feel really bad when she sees her again. I hope she will be okay. :paranoid I'm not worried too much, cause it's you who is writing this, but still...

That guy in the mountains has me worried. He's creepy. I so do not trust him. He better not hurt Tara. Grrr... He'll be sorry later, if he does anything to her. But, maybe he's just a nice guy who is going to help Tara? :pray

I feel bad for Willow, too. Her and Tara have been through so much together. And now, here comes more obstacals. Lisa, please let everything be okay. :cry Update, soon? Please??

Okay, I'll try to be patient.

YAY!!! Anya is back! Hee... I just love your Anya. But, why was she staying with Emily and not with Xander?? :confused Maybe you'll explain that later. I hope Giles will show up soon. I miss him! And you write him so well, too.

Anyway, I'm sitting on pins and needles, awaiting more.

Thanks for the update,

Jen

Ack!!!! Cliffhanger!! Lisa, I know I haven't replied in a long time, but I have been lurking and reading avidly. And I'm loving so many parts of this sequel - the relationship between Brianna and, well, everyone (except Sheila - :rage ) and firm, loving grandma Brent among them. I hope it was fun to weave your knowledge of and experience with horses into this part. More soon, please??? :pray

Dammit!! Cliffhangers, grrr :evil But Lisa the update was awesome as alwayz!! I Loved it! The chat between Willow and Sheila was actually well spoken and seemed to really get facts that needed to be said out there and i'm glad they had the lil chat. It was definitely needed! :)

The things Tara was saying to Ceri were kinda harsh it didn't seem right but then it was all apart of Tara's plan to get Ceri off her back and get away. But then uh oh trouble, this big man w/ the horse at the end doesn't sound all lollipops and fun 4 everyone! I hope Tara will be ok and they find her soon! :pray

Can't wait 4 more!! :)

Lisa

I've spent a few hours catching up with Milestones today - this was definitely time well spent! You never disappoint, I love your stories, in fact I can't stop reading them now.

Is there finally light at the end of the tunnel with Sheila after her talk with Willow? (hope so). I am worried about Tara though, who is this guy, why is he looking for her, why is he so huge? Not sure about this, definitely need another fix. Looking forward to your next update.

Great update Lisa, poor Tara can't control her emotions at the moment. Hopefully that new guy isn't going to be bad news although I have a feeling Tara can take care of herself. I like Brianna and how she knew that Tara wasn't right by reading her aura.

The whole shoe and easyboot part brings back memories and made me remember to call my farrier as my horse threw both his front shoes yesterday, so thanks for that :)

YAY! Update!!!!

Postby LostSoul » Sun Sep 29, 2002 7:43 pm

Lisa,

YAY! We got to see Willow take on her mom. Although, I had a feeling they would come to an understanding of some sort.

It seems as though some limpy scarred up guys are going to make a visit. That is the pending threat that is hanging over Willow and Tara's heads now anyway.

I'm hoping that we're in for a false scare with the stange man in the canyon. But, then again that would make it less of a tight story.

But, then that's what makes a story more interesting isn't it?

Keep up the awesome work! This is by far my favorite fic (of the many, many) that I'm reading now. :)

Oh my. Can it be that Sheila is finally beginning to understand her wrongdoings?

I knew when Tara started questioning Ceri's honour that she was just using the right tactic to make Ceri leave her alone. Still, it was so chilling those harsh words coming from such a gentle soul.

Lucky that Emily told Brent and Willow about the spell, otherwise they wouldn't have worried so much about Tara, believing her to be still within the sanctuary.

That kinda upset/annoyed me. That they need outside help ,which was there purely coincidentally, to find Tara or determine where she went. Such things should not depend on "luck"....it's just... well... NOT good practice.

Who's to say such a spell the other way around (i.e. peiple coming in) would be detected in time? You could have 20+ enemy soldiers inside without knowing it. Eeeeeeeks..lousy lousy security. (Brent take note:evil )

Then again, Sheila was able to walk into the Imbolc home without anyone stopping her :D (for which I partly DO blame Ceri btw. just 'cos I think someone should have stopped Sheila). Get Ceri onto Psych.Warfare 101 she's waaaaaay to easily side-tracked.

P.S. Sheila has to do a LOT more grovelling before I'll even BEGIN to like her. I'm still firmly in the kick-her-of-the-santuary-already camp :bounce .

Chapter 12 is up... something to do tonight!

Postby Lisa of Nine » Tue Oct 01, 2002 4:18 pm

barnabasvamp et al...

I WILL have a chapter up tonight. I am determined to offer something to do instead of watch THAT show. ;-)

I am shooting for 8pm EST, but it's gonna be close. I have to run up town right now, and that will take a while. It will definitely be up by 8pm PST.

How's that?

PS...thank you so much all the replies. The next chapter has an even bigger cliffhanger... just warning you. ;-) (And it has something just for Tim. Thanks WW!)

Postby Wolflord » Tue Oct 01, 2002 7:42 pm

:bounce :bounce :bounce Lisa, that was a great update. Loved the suspense you added and the curve ball with the rider. I loved that Willow's parents are starting to come around and even defending Tara. However, I found two things that are making me feel......well off. 1) First the Tara introducing herself as Tara Maclay, with no mention of Rosenberg in there. Until she was explaining about Brianna's last name being Rosenberg. I thought she had taken Willow's name when they got married (might be wrong on that one.) 2) Second and most worrisome, is that Willow seems to be treated as a secondary person. Almost as if she is the junior partner in the relationship, from the way Tara is acting and by how the Imbolic guards act......but hey that just may be seeing things differently. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I loved the update and can't wait til the next one.

Oh Lisa;

I knew you would come through for us so we wouldn't have to watch "that show".

Another great update...Imagine that- Ira and Shelia sticking up for TARA! bout time.

As always, love the way you describe the sanctuary and all of it's complexity.

The thoughts and actions of the Imbolic guards, also so good.

Since Tara has her mage powers in full swing, does this now move Willow to a lesser status with the guardians?

Oh goody...someone for Buffy? :grin

Wolflord, barnabasvamp, and Amymlc,

I think you've all made some good calls. The guardians do give Tara more weight. She was the Imbolc mage, and as such, she is greatly revered. They don't disrespect Willow, but Tara was touched their goddess. It is something that I'll cover. You are NOT supposed to like Willow being treated that way. As for Tara using the name Maclay... it will be addressed soon, with much angst and a cliffhanger. hehehehe ;-)

Tara on the rampage... you are supposed to be pissed at her. *G* She is being a major Biccan (bitchy wiccan). I can't see Willow walking out over what has happened so far. I have been yelled at by people I love, and it hurts, a lot, but I've found that working through that pain is best. The next chapter digs more into Tara's motivations for exploding the bed. That was a HUGE thing to do, and if taken out of context, makes Tara look really bad. Hopefully when you find out the whole story, you'll cut Tara a little slack. ;-)

Thanks for all the feedback. This lets me know the emotions the story brings up are on track. BTW... don't forgive Sheila just yet. ;-)

BTW I LOVE that you are putting these up on Tuesdays. I can get my weekly W/T fix and it makes that other show (also know as Joss & Marti's terrible fan fic) to shame. Even more shame than it already had.

Now I must run off and read this.
