Love on the Seas - Chapter Nine
Tara reluctantly pulled away from Willow. Both girls were breathing heavily, overcome with emotion and passion.
"Willow" managed Tara, trying to catch her breath. "I - uh...." she swallowed, feeling as though she'd just run a marathon. She stared into Willow's eyes, which were dilated and fixed on her.
Tara tried again. "Should we...uh...talk about this?"
Willow smiled gently. "Do you want to?"
"No" said Tara, "not unless you do..all I w-want to do at this moment is keep on kissing you.." She blushed furiously, unable to believe how bold she was being.
"Good" smiled Willow. "Cause talking...you know...it's kind of over-rated..."
Tara smiled. Willow was truly adorable. She led Willow over to the bed, and then sat down, gesturing for the other girl to sit next to her.
Oh! she thought. Great Tara, pull her over to the bed! Nice way to make her think you're trying to seduce her minutes after kissing her.
But Willow didn't seem peturbed at all, and sat down next to Tara on the bed and waited for the blonde girl to talk.
Tara blushed a little and then cleared her throat. "Willow..have you ever...done anything like this with a girl before?"
Willow looked thoughtfully at Tara. "No. I haven't. Have you?"
Tara answered right away. "No. Never. But it feels...right though..Does it feel...right to you?"
Tara hoped desperately that Willow would say yes, that she wasn't going to say that kissing Tara had been okay, alright but nothing special.
Willow smiled at Tara. "God, Tara. That was...the most amazing thing I've ever felt in my entire life!"
Tara looked up at Willow, feeling a little shy all of a sudden. "R-R really? You didn't mind?"
"Mind?" said Willow, amazed that Tara could think such a thing. "Tara, kissing you..was..is..amazing.." And with that last word, Willow pulled Tara towards her. "In fact, I'd really sort of like to do it again.."
And then, she placed her mouth on Tara's and kissed her again, at first gently but then more insistently. And Tara let herself get swept away with the kiss.
Outside, the ship cruised through the icy waters but in the room the temperature continued to soar.

The temperature below deck in the laundry was also continuing to soar but for quite different reasons. Buffy wiped her brow as she threw yet another pile of dirty laundry into a growing pile in the corner.
She threw a shirt at Faith. "Here. This one went through earlier. Put it in the clean pile!"
"I simply can't believe" grumbled Faith, catching the shirt with remarkable athletic skill, "that i let you talk me into working an extra night's shift for nothing!"
Buffy smiled. "Oh come on! You love it! What could be better than keeping me company? Even if it is 200 degrees down here!"
Faith smiled. She usually couldn't resist Buffy, it was quite true. "Oh I guess spending time with you makes up for it Buffy."
Buffy smiled. It wasn't like Faith to be so direct and so..complimentary. "Thanks Faith" she said, feeling touched.
"Don't go all mushy on me" said Faith, throwing another shirt at Buffy. "Plenty more work to be done tonight.." Faith turned to look directly at Buffy. "So tell me again what your little red-headed friend had to do tonight that was so urgent?"
Buffy frowned. "Well, like I told you before, Tara, that girl she met from First Class had a run-in with a total jerk who wants to marry her. He did the big come-on, Tara rejected him and he was pretty angry. So he chased her around the place. Poor Tara came running down here and it looked like Willow was the only one who would calm her down, so Willow wanted to be with her tonight..and I thought that was fair enough..."
Buffy trailed off as she caught the half-smile on Faith's face. "What? What are you smiling like that for?"
"Well gee, Buff.." began Faith, "I feel sorry for Tara and all with the jerk hitting on her...But don't you think it's kind of strange that only Willow could comfort her? That of all the people on this ship, Willow's the only one that could make Tara feel better?"
Buffy looked a little puzzled. "You'll have to make this real simple for me Faith cause I'm not really following you.."
"Okay" sighed Faith, wishing that Buffy was a little more worldy. "Tara....has a crush on red...that's all I'm saying.."
Faith took in Buffy's shocked expression. "God, don't tell me the thought hadn't occured to you".
"Well uh.." began Buffy, not wanting to look stupid. "I guess Tara might have thought that..."
Faith interupted her. "And what's more, I bet Willow's not complaining either!"
"You think Willow and Tara...like each other?" asked Buffy slowly.
"Oh yeah!" exclaimed Faith. "And I haven't even seen the two of them together and I'm putting together the puzzle."
Buffy frowned. "Well, I guess earlier..there did seem to be...some sort of chemistry..or something.."
"Does it bother you?" asked Faith.
"No!" exclaimed Buffy. "Definitely no! If Willow's happy, then I'm happy! "Besides" continued Buffy, "who hasn't thought about it, you know? Not like I'd say no if..."
Buffy trailed off as she met Faith's intense gaze.

Upstairs, Tara had fully abandoned herself to Willow's kiss. Neither girl could have picked the moment, but some time earlier Tara had leaned back on the bed, gently pulling Willow with her. Had they started kissing minutes ago or hours ago? Neither girl knew, so absorbed were they in each other.
Tara lay back, amazed at the feel of Willow above her, the pressure of the other girl's body on hers. She had her arms resting on Willow's back and could feel her heart beating quickly against her own chest.
It would be fair to say that both girls were totally oblivious to everything but each other. That's probably why it took some time for the loud banging on the door to register in either girl's mind.
"Hmmmm" mumbled Willow, unable to ignore the banging any longer. "What's ..."
Tara sat up reluctantly. "What time is it? Who'd come by at this..." she trailed off, a bolt of panic shooting through her body. "Oh no!"
"Tara?" questioned Willow softly. "What is it? What's going on? Do you think it's Riley come back to..." she trailed off.
"Tara, so help me god! You'll open this door or I'll go and get someone to help me do it. And trust me girl, you don't want me to do that...!" There was a real menacing note to the last words that Tara's dad uttered.
Willow looked at the girl, unable to believe what she was hearing. "Tara, your father...talks to you like that?" she trailed off with disbelief, unable to believe that anyone could talk to her beautiful, sweet Tara like that.
