You've really got a way with writing the Scooby gang...esp. Dawn. :lol Some of the company she's keeping seems to be a bit disconcerting, but...teenagers.

Dual pregnancies should be interesting; I wonder who's going to fetch the pickles and ice cream? :wink

Just caught up with the latest part and I think it's great. I was laughing my head off in several parts. I especially liked Dawn winding Buffy up with her 'tart' routine.

Chapter 5

Postby 4evaWill » Thu Jan 23, 2003 11:43 am

~*~*~*~*~ Chapter Five

Tara awoke to a sharp elbow digging painfully into her side, and a heavy weight on her legs. Raising her head, she struggled to get out from underneath a sprawled Buffy without waking Willow, who was snuggled up close. Her eyes widened in disbelief as she took in the state of the brand new lounge - empty soda cans, packets of chips and videos were scattered everywhere. Stray pieces of popcorn littered the nice new carpet, all trodden in by a sleepwalking Anya, who was presently asleep in the larder. Pulling at her hair, Tara managed to stand up, almost falling over the armchair as she made her way into the kitchen. The girlie night in celebrating Willow and Tara's pregnancies had been a real laugh. Buffy and Anya's constant arguing over what movie they got to watch next, and Dawn cheating at poker in every single round they played along with Willow bursting into tears at one point during 101 Dalmations, and finally Tara's constant whining that she wanted to play Clue, the five of them found themselves in hysterics the entire night. Now the sun filtered through the blinds and Tara's head pounded with an ache as she turned the coffee maker on, rubbing her eyes rid of sleep and wondering distantly what time it was.

"Eleven thirty?!" She yelped, tripping over Anya's leg that was conveniently stuck out of the larder door. The blonde vengeance demon snorted, stirred and began to snore heavily again. "Oops. Okay, if I can just remember whether it's a school day..." Tara squinted at the calendar and heaved a sigh of relief as she realized that it was in fact a Sunday, and Dawn wasn't incredibly late for high school.

"Mornin', sweetie." Willow yawned, stumbling into the kitchen with her hair a wild red bush. "What's all the yelling about?"

"Oh, nothing." Tara blushed. "Coffee?"

"Sure." Willow wrapped her arms around Tara's waist, making it even harder for the blonde to pour out the two mugs, and nestled her chin in Tara's shoulder, giggling as she recalled the evening...

"My turn!" Dawn protested, reaching for her favorite movie that they had already watched twice that evening. Buffy and Tara groaned in dismay and tried frantically to stop the teenager from once more watching 101 Dalmations. "What? This is supposed to be a fun evening!" Dawn protested, folding her arms and pouting. "And what's more fun than seeing hugs and puppies?"

"Seeing hugs and puppies three times in a row, that's what." Buffy retorted, hiding the video safe from her little sister's view. "Hows about we play a board game?" She glanced at the large stack of boxes on the dining table. "Win A Million Dollars?"

"No, way." Dawn stuck her tongue out. "I always lose because I'm the youngest and I don't know as much boring stuff as you lot."

"Clue!" Tara bellowed, almost blasting Willow's ear drum. "Oh, let us play Clue!" She lunged for the box at the same time as Buffy. Unfortunately for Tara, the latter got there first and hastily set the box on top of the cabinet, shaking her finger at Tara like a child.

"No, Missy, we've played too much poker tonight, played too much Clue, and watched too much hugs and puppies." Buffy grinned. "I think we should play Truth or Dare." All of them apart from the Slayer burst into laughter.

"Not on my life..." Was their replies.

"Please do not remind of that." Tara groaned, handing Willow a mug of coffee and retreiving her own. "The mere thought of you flashing to a woman other than myself makes me ever so sad."

"I didn't flash complete." Willow protested. "In fact, really, I only showed Buffy my stomach. I mean, hello, children were in the room."

"Not a child." Dawn joined them, looking equally bleary eyed. "What time is it? I feel as if I've slept all morning."

"You have." Tara pointed to the clock on the wall. "12:40." She settled herself on a stool in front of the breakfast bar, the mug cupped in her hands, and the three sat in silence for a while, deep in thought.

"I think we should finish off the day with a bang." Dawn said at last, digging into a packet of cookies. "Well, morning. Or girlie night or whatever." She bit into a cookie, spilling crumbs everywhere, and grinned at the couple. "Go to that new ice cream parlour down by the park."

"That's a good idea, Dawnie." Willow stared out the window. "And then, maybe, we can go to the park."

"Beach!" Dawn exclaimed happily, jolting Anya from her restless sleep on the kitchen floor. "Oops, sorry, Ahn." She dismissed the glaring demon with a wave of her hand. "What d'ya say, guys? Ice cream and then the beach?"

"I don't know... I'm kinda tired." Tara whined.

"Oh, c'mon. This is a big deal for us, and you. Two babies are just about to join the Scooby Gang."

"Fighting and researching and all." Buffy added, coming into the kitchen fully dressed, a wide grin on her face. She veered away as every other woman glared at her. "Hey, kidding! We'll wait until they're out of the month old and into the year."

"Very funny." Willow retorted dryly. She found her hand drawing into Tara's. "I think that's a great idea, Dawnie. Ice cream and the beach it is."

Dawn jumped off her stool with a beam, and tugged on her sister's arm. "Come on, Buffy! We gotta get home and get our swim stuff! Oh, and Anya, don't forget to invite Xander! I think he missed being part of the girly slumber party, really. Plus, he's real good at the making a fire thing. Willow could be better if she didn't make it rain and thunder all the time. So, let's go, Buffy!" She yanked open the front door, shifting from one foot to the other impatiently. "Whatcha waiting for? Let's go! We want to have a full day!"

"Erm, Dawnie..." Tara spoke up as she realized that Buffy was not going to say anything. "Maybe you should get out of your pyjamas first."

The teenager let out a shriek of horror and ran to hide behind the front door, remembering how she had been flirting with the cute guy opposite Willow and Tara's apartment the day before.

A Fine Day Out... To Be Continue

Sounds like quite a night!:party

What's with Tara's 'Clue' obsession? It sounds to me as if those hormones are really starting to kick in.

Loving the gang interaction. They better enjoy it while they can.

Tara: My heart doesn't stutter.

Tara: Willow, I got so lost.

Willow: I found you. I will always find you.

Sorry for digging this up - but I wanted to continue with this fic, even though I wrote it literally months ago and can barely remember what it is about. :whistle Geez, I can't believe I've been away so long - but I'm back now, yay! :grin And ready to write an update for the first time in, well, ages. Sorry again. Personal issues, etc, etc, meant that I couldn't get enough time to write the updates. But I am going to now! Swear!
