Re: Sunday Update

Postby DarkWiccan » Sun Jun 30, 2002 10:34 pm

Hey all... well... glad you liked the little snippet of an update that I through out for y'all today.

Many many thanks for all the b-day wishes. You guys made an intolerable week tolerable :love

About that damn bird The key to my stories is seemingly insignificant details. And that's all I'm gonna say. Or..no.. I'll add this: Watch David Mamet films (The Spanish Prisoner, House of Games [starring Lindsey Crouse before she was Dr. Maggie Walsh], State and Main) and you'll begin to see how my mind works... a little.

Shout outs to all the peeps who said "hey" and "good job" and made my ego feel that much better... I love you guys (and gals).

Anecdote on the lactation thing. It's true. An infant's cry can cause a nursing mother to lactate spontaneously. One of those cute little factoids I didn't get to play with in "NMWYG".

Warning... it isn't that I'm not in the writing mood... it's just life sneaking up on me... the updates are going to be seriously slowing down. I have a crap load of RL on my mind.. and it's not that I don't want to write... trust me... I'd rather be writing... but RL has just gotten incredibly shitty and I'm having to deal.

Okay, I'll vent if ya'll don't mind a little... If you've read my bio you know that my day job is negotiating with the government for janitorial contracts... this is true. I spend my days in a little office writing up proposals and pitching them to government facilities trying to convince them to utilize my company's janitorial services.

So here's the deal... one of our existing contracts is being transferred from Federal to Local government, so the contract has to be renegotiated... so.. I sent a proposal... the contractor I'm dealing with said that the proposal was too high... so I asked him to send me site specs so that I could re-evaluate and then submit a new proposal... the proposal is due tomorrow... and it isn't ready... unless by some miracle he gets me those damn specs and I fax the new prop to him before closing time tomorrow.. I may have very well lost the company a 47K contract... I could lose my job... so.. me not so happy right now.. me very very very scared.

Not conducive to creativity... hence why all the updates recently have been so scrawny.

Plus on top of that brew-ha-ha I've got two shows running at the same time...

Hey, any of you Kittens live in Las Vegas? If so, you should come see my show(s)... I'll even give discounts to those who identify themselves as members of the Kitten Board... just email me.

Alright... well...I'm going to go and do some primal scream therapy....

Cheers

Okay. Ghaena is acting weird, and I am glad that dumb bird wasn't in this chapter.

Tara: My heart doesn't stutter.

Tara: Willow, I got so lost.
Willow: I found you. I will always find you.

Willow: Hi, um Tara. I was wondering maybe you want to go out some time for coffee? food? Kisses and gay love?

Wonderful update! And hugs to you... hopefully, everything will work out.

But, with Ghaena... I get the feeling that she's not... herself right now. Hm...

Anyway, hope tomorrow goes okay for you. :)

Sorry to hear that RL is such a handful right now. Good luck and we'll be thinking about you. No rush with the updates. :)

I wondered if Ghaena was the bird, too, but in one installment they were both in the scene together, so I guess not. And Giles showing up just as Ghaena is accelerating Emily's lessons makes it seem like trouble could be on the horizon. Nice to see Giles back - and he probably returned just in time.

Thanks!

Ahh, poor DarkWiccan. Take your time, honey. We're not going anywhere.

But I didn't get a reply from my last post! *pouts* Why didn't I get a reply?

Never mind. I can deal. *Sobs loudly into large white hankerchief at the prospect of no update and no replies, running away to watch taped reruns again*

Brilliant updates. Bad Ghaena, though. She's supposed to be understanding.

Edited because apparently I sobbed into a 'parge' white hankerchief.

DarkWiccan: Great update, I really liked the way Giles came back very cool and I also like way he was with Michelle, like a real grandfather.

Like I said before, Emily takes after her Mama, I knew that she was a little knowledge woman, its in her blood. I can't wait to read more.

P.S. I wish I could do something to help with your RL problems, but don't worry I'm sure that everything will work out just fine.

DW, I'm sorry RL is being dumb. Hope it works out for you.

Watch David Mamet films Is that supposed to be a comforting thing? Cause I'm not sure that I am. It's funny that you said that though, cause I was just watching The Spanish Prisoner this weekend.

Anyway, I'll be waiting patiently.

Hey I've been enjoying your story for so long... but have yet to post another feedback since...early in the fic. And to wish you Happy Belated B'day in the earlier post.

From our chat, I didn't really know how bad real life was to you. Now I"ve read it more in detail (I checked the board after we talked), I'm really sorry. Real Life sucks big time. *big hugs*

But I'm so enjoying your story, I'm willing to wait really patiently for the updates even if they are slower in coming because they are certainly worth the wait. plus I've gotta reformatte my computer, so no fics for me until my machine is completely recovered.

But any update is a good update... be it about the bloody bird.. :)

Here We Go!

__________________________

Upon entering the cozy home, Giles paused a moment in the foray to enjoy the air-conditioning before moving the rest of the way into the living room followed closely by Buffy. Tara excused herself to the kitchen to prepare the tea while Willow sat in one of the easy chairs, a light blanket draped over her right shoulder and covering Michelle, whom she was breastfeeding discreetly. The hacker blushed again as her friends entered the room to sit down.

“I guess I should have picked another room”, she said apologetically.

“Nonsense, Willow”, soothed Giles, “It’s nothing to be embarrassed about. And it’s not as if we can see anything. You’ve done an excellent job of…er… camouflage with the blanket.”

Again, Willow blushed.

“Relax, Will”, added Buffy, “This is Giles. He who endured Anya breastfeeding Joseph at the Magic Box… topless.”

“Until I swiftly put a stop to it”, the Watcher amended hastily.

“Well, sales did improve that week”, Tara noted as she re-entered the room with a tray of teacups filled with piping hot liquid. She set her burden down on the coffee table. “And Mr. Giles’ glasses were the cleanest I think I’ve ever seen them”, she added with a grin, passing Giles his cup.

“Yes, well… Thank you, Tara”, he said, accepting her hospitality. He took a small sip of tea, and nodded is approval.

“So, what brings you back to Sunnydale?” asked Willow.

The watcher blinked. “What brings me ba…” He blinked again. “I don’t know whether to be insulted by that question”, he said playfully. “What brings me back? You mean other than the birth of your new baby?”

“Um…well… yeah”, the redhead attempted to clarify.

Giles sighed and slumped into the couch. “Am I that predictable? I only come back into town when something terrible is happening or going to happen?”

“C’mon, Giles”, said Buffy, “You gotta admit, you have kinda been our own personal harbinger guy.”

The older man let out another disgruntled sigh. “Did it ever occur to you that I could be here just to see the baby? Or maybe that I’m moving back.”

“You are?” Tara said happily.

“Er…no”, Giles frowned, “consider that a poorly chosen example. However, I am here to see the baby.”

“And..?” Buffy fished for more.

“And I received this package by post yesterday”, he stated in a defeatist manner, pulling an overnight FedEx envelope from his briefcase and removing from it a black feather and a handwritten note. “Dear Giles”, he read aloud, “What does this mean? Love, Buffy. P.S. Willow had her baby.” He set the two objects down on the table. “I would have preferred a phone call.”

“Hey, we tried”, the slayer said, defending herself, “Your line was busy and you don’t have voicemail.”

“Or email”, Willow added almost grumpily.

“It’s a raven feather”, said Tara, examining the object. “Buffy, where did you get this?”

“Ghaena had it”, Buffy explained.

“And she gave it to you?” The wiccan pressed.

“Sort of… it was in her hair. She asked us to burn it.”

Tara’s expression paled, her brow furrowing as she frowned.

“Tara?” Willow prompted, her voice filling with concern.

“There’s blood on it”, the blonde noted softly. “The Raven is a totem animal of Morrigan”, she explained, turning to her wife.

“Morrigan”, Willow said in alarm. “I thought we bound her to that tree. Do you think she got out?”

“Did what to whom when?” Asked Buffy, perplexed.

“Back in college, when you went to visit Angel”, the hacker illuminated, “Tara and I had a run in with Morrigan. We bound her to a tree.”

“You tied someone to a tree in college and you’re just now remembering them?” The slayer inquired.

“Not tied”, Tara clarified, “Bound. Morrigan is a very powerful sorceress, sometimes considered to be a deity. We bound her essence to a tree when one of the Wicca Group members accidentally set her free on a murderous rampage.”

“So this sorceress lady is lose again?” questioned Buffy.

“She’s more than a sorceress”, Giles interrupted. “She’s a priestess of the goddess.”

“Like Ghaena?” asked Willow, then adding, as realization dawned on her, “Or… exactly like Ghaena?”

“So wait, are you saying that Morrigan is Ghaena?” asked Buffy.

“She has been acting weird recently”, Tara commented, a terrible feeling sinking into the pit of her stomach.

“There’s no way we can know for sure at this moment”, said Giles, “But it is a possibility. How has she been acting strangely?”

“She’s been putting a lot of pressure on Emily in her studies”, Willow answered. “She was so patient before. But now that Michelle has been born… it’s like she’s on hyperdrive.”

“It’s important that we try and root out what Ghaena’s ultimate intentions are”, Giles pointed out. “She may just be trying to hasten Emily’s training in order to protect the girl.”

“I thought she wanted to raise Avon from the myths”, Buffy commented.

“Avalon”, Willow gently corrected. “She wants to raise Avalon from the mists.”

“Which isn’t a bad thing”, said Tara, “If that’s what she really wants. But, if she’s really Morrigan…”

“Emily could be in serious danger”, Willow stated, picking up where her wife had left off. “So could we.”
