That is the walk of someone who checked in just before all the airport computers went down this morning.Instead of poor people thinking about murder let’s take a look at Lady and The Tramp and its similarities to Beauty and the Beast.
Yet another Disney film I have no recollection of (minus the infamous spaghetti scene) so like Beauty and the Beast I will ask Google’s Gemini for the plot then translate it into Dub dub.
The plot –
Lady is a dog who lives a life of luxury a dog’s salary couldn’t possibly afford so she has some humans in her life. Though those humans then decide to bring home another human and this human is getting pampered more than Lady. After a talk with two shaved cats instead of the people affecting her mood, she decides to run away because notoriously everything goes well for runaways.
Only for Lady it kind of does as she meets a street smart Dog called Tramp. Tramp, like a stranger picking you up at an airport, shows Lady the sights and wonders of the town and buys her dinner. It’s a love bombing without a kidney parting gift as Lady decides her stint of street living is done and that she should try again at home.
But then tragedy strikes. Lady sees Tramp is now caught by the dogcatchers (Not the new evil team in Pokémon) and Lady must decide to stay at home or save her airport valet from peril. Turns out the comforting effects of a pasta meal outweigh the love and affection of your entire life as Lady heads out to save Tramp.
It’s not clear what goes on but by doing this Lady’s family decide to take in Tramp due to his and Lady’s strong bond. So either there was a bondage scene or they had to call a vet for surgical removal and thought ‘we paid the vet bills might as well keep him around.’ Either way they live happily ever after.
The similarities here to Beauty and the Beast being the life of luxury character has to face hardship and a moral dilemma but it works out with a good market price roof over their head with a lower bracket income other half taking residence.
Although this sounds very Lady orientated so I looked to the
Disney Wiki to find out about Tramps side of things.
Turns out AI missed out a lot of details, shocker!
Now it seemed what happened is a different family member was looking after Lady while her owners were away. This other family member decided muzzling and chaining up Lady is the way of dog care. In a world where Lady felt trapped and chained down she ran away and bumped into Tramp whom she had met earlier when Tramp tried to reassure Lady that things would be fine with the new baby (I assume going off it being the opposite of what the cats have to say). Tramp demuzzles Lady and murders a murderer all in the blame of love your honour, yet Lady is told that Tramp is a lothario and won’t settle down. The opposite of what Tramp wants, he wants to be a house dog.
In relation to Beauty and the Beast, Tramp and Belle both represent a character who houses good intentions and end up on the property ladder.
Although Tramp houses similarities to the Beast by way of others deciding who and what he is without knowing them.
As a relationship both show two beings learning to see each other with their own eyes and falling in love regardless of others forewarned perceptions.
And along with Willow and Tara, all three relationships end up in impossible cost accommodations. Although Willow and Tara do one better by it not being either of their house.
Which brings us to this week’s poll –
“is Willow, Lady or the Tramp?”
Lady – New addition to the family stirring up the feeling of not being wanted.
Tramp – Staunch fighter with the courage to go that extra mile.
I think there's a good argument for them both. Tramps resourcefulness certainly goes well with Willow. The muzzle tipped me over to Lady though. I think Willow has a strong sense of feeling silenced or not listened too and people holding her back when she's certain of something. Both don't act in the smartest ways about that feeling despite being intellectual. I go for Lady.
